This is running on Al Jazeera and others - apparently Israel refused to take back two hostages.

Is that ‘gagging order’ the same for all those released!

That's how it sounded but I don't know, I hadn't heard it anywhere else but I do think Alex Crawford is very good so I would tend to truth her.

This.

@EsmaCannonball or @caringcarer i can’t find this on Channel 4
Any chance you could post it

Her family confirmed an hour ago she was released

That’s very good news, thank you.

Parkingt111 · 24/11/2023 18:10

@Iwasafool thank you they have clarified now
33 from Israeli jail and 6 from Jerusalem

Iwasafool · 24/11/2023 18:11

I wonder if the release of the Thai and Filipino hostages was known in advance.

Conditions and treatment in Israeli jails historically has been well reported.
If they can’t speak they clearly haven’t been having a great time.

Some videos on Twitter of them . If genuine, they look well. I'd like to see a list of exactly who was released today and why they were being detained.

Stomacharmeleon · 24/11/2023 18:18

@25milesfromhome I reposted that at the time.
It just goes to show the amount of propaganda posted and how little you can trust terrorists. That just have caused Hannah's family untold grief and upset.

So much for refusing to take back hostages.

Stomacharmeleon · 24/11/2023 18:20

@KingofIthaca a Hamas spokesman left an interview halfway through with the bbc (I believe) where he was asked repeatedly about hostages and denying having them or attacking civilians.

It was early on in the conflict.

Is this what was being reported on channel 4 that I asked about
( or is that something else.)
im assuming it is as you’ve posted to me….

This from one of the Palestinians released and her father.
But still no clarity on why

I saw they were firing tear gas on crowds outside the prison. I wonder what no celebration means. Are they going to be raiding houses later to check they are not having friends round or having a special dinner?

KingofIthaca · 24/11/2023 18:39

I’m hoping this Palestinian lady isn’t saying too much.
She has been warned she could be re arrested!

As an aside a volley of tear gas was used against people waiting for the release of Palestinians.
Cant loved ones even stand and wait after so many have waited for so many years without being attacked by the IDF….shame on them, this is a ceasefire.

I posted before I read you comment.
But yes I agree, what does that mean.
Its a gagging order, whose not going to smile, hug, be elated that their loved ones are back.

It’s controlling…..does the same apply on both sides of the divide??!

Stomacharmeleon · 24/11/2023 18:45

@KingofIthaca sorry no clarity on why what?

Efacsen · 24/11/2023 18:45

Think the 'no celebrations' edict means no parading en masse in the streets waving flags

Not forbidding private joy at home

@KingofIthaca and @ketchup07070

ketchup07070 · 24/11/2023 18:46

@KingofIthaca Of course it's different for Israelis as they are not living under occupation. I really hope they won't be raiding homes and punishing people later, we all hope the exchange of hostages and pause in fighting continues.

Parkingt111 · 24/11/2023 18:49

This was on the guardian

A Palestinian woman who is among the first group of prisoners who have just been released from Ofer prison has said many of the released detainees need medical attention.
Marah Bakeer, who was arrested in 2015 when she was 16 years old, told Al Jazeera:
All of the prisoners suffered a high level of medical neglect [while detained].

Edited

It says the father was told not toshow any sign of joy or hold any celebratory events. Sounds like he should not even look happy,

Exactly and he was summoned to the police station and warned.
Any non compliance means re arrests.

Parkingt111 · 24/11/2023 18:53

I know it sounds harsh but I think one reason might be to avoid escalation in the west bank if there was celebrations on the street as the situation there is already so tense.
It's not been reported anywhere for this to be the reason but its just a thought

After being held hostage for so many years, I’d assume they will be transported back to Gaza. Will there be any medical care available to them and are their families even still alive?

Yes it's about not being joyful exuberant in public - the sub-text is preventing civil unrest

Like you said earlier no-one is going to be visiting them at home to see if he is happy and smiling
