Morning, how is everyone? Baby that is exactly what's happened to me. Now CD35 and the m symbol still not flashing .

OP posts:
vnewmummy · 14/06/2010 10:43

Im good thanks Boba.

Still showing highs on monitor but really trying not to obsess like I did last month.
Were off on holiday in 2 weeks so looking forward to long 2 week break.

Will you poas soon or wait until m starts flashing?

xxx

boba82 · 14/06/2010 11:28

It's more for resetting. I'm pretty sure I didn't ovulate. I've given up POAS as I find the BFNs more and more difficult to deal with.

Last time it started flashing on CD29 I think so I'm not sure why the delay now?

What about you are you going to POAS soon?

OP posts:
Lychees · 14/06/2010 16:26

I'm okay, thanks, Boba. I have to go and have my 25 day bloods tomorrow but I was really, really late to work today [an hour and a quarter due to major tube problems] so I'm not sure how I can manage to go without pushing my luck with my manager. I shall have to think of something .

I'm stressed at the moment. We are moving house at the beginning of July, there are not enough hours in the working day and my colleague is going on sabbatical from the end of July and nothing has been said about who is doing her work [I think, they just assume I'll do two people's jobs for three months!]. Perhaps it's not the greatest time to ttc but if I put it off any longer, I might run out of time. Sorry ladies .... rant over [and note to self - breathe ].

Hi ladies,

Do you mind if I join your thread? I think you're the support group that I'm in need of!! Please excuse the inappropriate use of acronyms etc but here goes:

TTC#1; cycle 10 (maybe); CBFM cycle 4; age 33; ucl 25; CD1

If I've got that right it means we have been trying for number 1 for approx. 10 months. After about 3 months we got the clear blue ovulation tests but then moved onto the monitor as we thought it would be more informative. So more informative, but no better luck!

Anyway, here's wishing everyone one here lots of luck for their next month's cycle....fingers crossed!

justshaggy · 15/06/2010 14:04

Hi all. I've been poorly the last eight days or so, so this is a fleeting catch-up before I return to my couch to hopefully get properly better.

keziah I am so sorry to hear your news. DH and I were told a short while ago that if we didn't conceive within 6mths we'd need to consider IVF. Like you, we can't really afford it. I've got two cycles left before we have to make that decision and the pressure is horrible. I have a feeling too that I won't even qualify for one round because of my age. So I understand the hurt and confusion and stress that news brings.

I think you should consider seeing a fertility nutritionist to help your DH - not all sperm issues can be resolved by diet but I believe some can be. I don't think it's just about being healthy (although that is really good) - but a nutritionist could tell you exactly which things to eat a lot more of etc specifically for your situation. You may get a shock at the cost they quote but when I paid up I told myself it was a damn site cheaper than IVF!

I also think you should head over to the assisted conception thread and tell them everything that you've gone through. They are really nice people and will totally know what you're going through and give you good informed advice.

My last thought comes from my experience: its very important, as devastated as you feel, that you stay strong and determined. My experience is that no-one except you will care or keep tabs on you getting what you need. The NHS is an impersonal and uncaring machine. I wasted time kinda hoping my GP who knew my story would help and point us in the right direction ... but it never happened until I took action. I have made progress by taking advice I got from the assisted conception thread, and going to my GP, nearly crying in the surgery and making demands.

Finally, from me. Keep us posted. x

vnewmummy This is a softcup.

keziah Guaifenesin is the active ingrediant used in cough mixture, and is mentioned in the TCOYF book. Apparently it helps you to produce more of the right kind of CM at ov time. You need to buy the right kind of cough mixture (Robitussin - in the red box) so that is the ONLY ingredient in it because other cough mixtures can do the opposite and make you dry up. You can buy Robitussin from amazon.co.uk. Having said all that, its probably not a good idea to try this trick if you are taking other meds (I'm not). I have to say though that I think the grapefruit juice works ... well, it seemed to for me anyway.

boba I'm dying to go on a holiday. Might just do what you've done and throw caution to the wind!

babyhoping Not sure if I've asked this before, but have you thought of charting? I highly recommend it. That way you'll know for sure when you ovulated and you can cross-compare with the monitor. It will also help you if the monitor doesn't catch the peaks because your temps should. If you need any tips to get started, let me know.

Welcome scarlett

Hello all! Have changed my stats as AF arrived. Have had a few good conversations with DH over the last week and looks like we may ttc in 2-3 months so not too long to wait!

JustShaggy - sorry you've been ill. Hope you feel better soon. Thanks for the softcup link - I'd never heard of it either!

Starlet- welcome!

Keziah - I'm so sorry things didn't go as you'd hoped. Have you been able to talk with DH? How is he feeling? Is he supportive?

Lychees - hope you managed to throw a sickie and get to your appointment!

Hello everyone else. Sorry for running - gas man here to hopefully finally fix boiler (after a week without!)

Lychees · 15/06/2010 21:33

Evening everybody,

I was naughty today as I did decide to take a sickie to go and have my bloods [my first sick day off in about 18 months] but I did punish myself by spending much of the rest of the day doing chores. I'm worn out! Now, it's a two week wait until results and then heading into the unknown. My GP said she'd refer me for further tests [?] if I didn't have my BFP by then.

Welcome to our thread, Starlet.

Hope you feel better soon, Shaggy.

Sorry AF arrived, Essence.

Hope, you're ok, Keziah. Thinking of you.

Starlet22 · 15/06/2010 21:50

Hi everyone,

Thanks for making me feel so welcome.

Lychees - glad you got to your appointment - hope the results are positive. We are going to see our GP tomorrow for the first time since TTC and are hoping we can get the ball rolling re tests etc. Am feeling rather anxious.....

Out of interest, has anyone here tried accupuncture as a way of boosting their chances of conceiving?

BabyHoping · 16/06/2010 07:54

Hi Scarlett, welcome! I will try acunpuncture for the first time at the end of this week and see how do I feel... I´m a bit scared of the needles... Boba has started already so she can give you more info.

Shaggy I will probably start charting next month... Should I buy a specific thermometer or anyone is good for it)

Morning all Essence sorry about AF, I know you're waiting but hopefully a happy accident will occur before you start TTC again

Starlet I am having acupuncture at the moment. I have had 3 sessions so far (going weekly for at least 3 months). I would thoroughly recommend it. It cleared my sinus pain after one session which I had had for approx 4 years! Also I have been sleeping a LOT better since I've started. I'm really hoping it has the same effects on my fertility.

Baby let us know how you get on @ the acupunctre. Don't be afraid of needles, they're teeny and don't hurt at all going in. They tweek them a wee bit once they're in and that sometimes buzzes a little bit but nothing at all to worry about.

Lychees good, glad you took a sickie, ATEOTD your health is the most important thing.

justshaggy · 17/06/2010 14:30

babyhoping You need a BBT thermometer - you can get them on Amazon. I personally wouldn't buy all the sheets and stuff that go with them to chart. Instead, I use Fertility Friend to chart online - it has amazing extra functionality; e.g. you can overlay your charts to see similarities and differences across cycles etc etc. If you want to get lots of info about charting, and what temps mean, and when your body is telling you you are most fertile etc, then I recommend buying Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler. And there's a great support thread for charters over here on MN.

Hi there!

I have no idea what is going on with my cycle! high from day 7 to 13, then 1 day peak and last 3 days low? Oh well I am not on my 2WW but dont hold out much hope!

TTCbabyNo1 · 18/06/2010 20:25

Hi Everyone,

I'm gatecrashing your thread because I think, as you are all using the CBFM to concieve for different reasons, you are the best people to converse with about my situation. I hope you don't mind.

This is my first cycle actually trying for a baby and we are also using the CBFM. Forgive me if I get some of the abreviations wrong though, I'm new to this LOL!!

So here comes the essay, I've so much to get of my chest.

Here goes:
TTC#1, CBFM Cycle#1, age 27, UCL not sure yet, never really had to bother working it out,UCL I have no idea what this means .

Ok so yes this is the first time actually trying but I have been pregnant before. On march the 7th and at 15 weeks pregnant I underwent a surgical termination as the day befre we had discovered our baby was suffering from a Neural Tube disorder called Anencephaly. For those of you that do not know what this is it is effectively SPina Bifida in reverse, where Spina Bifida is open at the base of the Spine, Anencephaly is open at the top of the head. So the Skull and brain do not develope properly. I have always been of the opinion that abortion is something which should not be taken lightly but I am pro choice so please, anyone on here who disagrees with what I did, just respect our decision as it wasn't a easy one!

Basically, we were given the choice to go full term with the pregnancy but this disorder is fatal no matter what you decide and quit frankly I couldn't put me, my partner or our baby through the any of the pain that was inevitable.

This pregnancy wasn't planned, it was an accident. But we had come round to the idea and we were so incredibly excited and scared all at the same time. Then we had it all snatched away.

So, we're ok now, we've come to terms with what happened and we can start to move on but we both know that we desperatley want a family and we want to start trying straight away so we bought a CBFM and I am now on day 7 of my cycle. I'm not expecting miracles but I have my fingers crossed that we can have a BFP this year at least.

I just wanted to be able to share my experience with wmen who were going through a similar situation and then I came acrss you guys. Is it ok if I join in??

I would love to hear your advice etc and be pat of your stats and also try to support everyone. I think a support network would be really good for me. Its hard to discuss things with my friends and family as I don't think they really understand.

Welcome TTCbabyNo1, sounds like you've been through a really difficult time and made choices that most of us would hope we would never have to make. If you have any q's about the CBFM, fire away.

UCL means usual cycle length. For me AF tended to arrive around the same date each month give or take a few days so I assumed my UCL was about 31 days on average as month months have 31 days in them.

Since using the CBFM, I have found out that I probably ovulate later than I think and also that my average UCL is actually 32 to 34 days.

Wishing you lots of luck using the CBFM and hoping you get your BFP soon.

Morning Everyone Else. Hope you're all doing okay.

vnewmummy, your cycle sounds fine to me. Perhaps not the "model" cycle but whose is. It's a good sign that you got a peak.

I'm expecting AF's arrival in three or four days and I've got too much on this weekend to symptom spot or think about testing. Must dash. Catch you lovely ladies later.

Lychees · 19/06/2010 08:22

Sorry for all the spelling mistakes and typos .

TTCbabyNo1 · 19/06/2010 09:49

Thanks for the welcome Lychees, its very much appreciated. Oh and thank you for clearing up the UCL abbreviation I was struggling with. I'm sure there will be plenty of times when I have to ask what the abbreviations mean !!
So to help you with my stats and also try and get my head round them I think they should look like this:

TTC#1, CBFM Cycle#1, UCL approx 28, CD8

I have to say I have never really bothered to work out my UCL so this could be enlightening.

Enjoy your weekend.

Missyraines · 19/06/2010 10:44

Hi all

This month I peaked on days 18 and 19 and we tried then plus a couple of days before and after. I work away a lot so this is a problem sometimes but this month the timings seemed to work out.

I tried to take it easy and stopped drinking after my first peak. This was especially hard as I spent a weekend in Newcastle with my 2 best friends who were drinking cocktails and the footie was on! They were a bit supisous as it's so unlike me not to drink. I did tell them why and they were supportive even though they aren't at that point in their lives as they are both single.

The m was flashing on day 32 on my cbfm so I thought I'd give it until 34 as that's been my longest so far and I did peak later than last month. On day 35 I bought a test and told myself I'd wait until Sat as I'd be home and hubby could be there. But when I woke up on day 36 and still not even a sign of AF I dared to hope.

I did the test and it was a no. That afternoon (fri) I came on. It's as if my body is playing tricks with me. So I'm back to day one today.

Had a good cry in hubby's arms when I got in late last night and he's being as positive as ever saying it'll happen one day, just got to keep trying etc, etc....

I really feel useless. I know I shouldn't but it's hard not to.

I hope everyone is well and I do look forward to seeing how everyones doing as I know what you are all going through (to some degree) but bfp's make me happy so let's hope we see some soon.

Thanks for my rant.

Lychees · 19/06/2010 11:19

Missyraines, I've had cycles like that where I've dared to hope for a BFP and then I've had a negative test following by AF arriving that same day. I know, it's totally disheartening especially when you feel like you've done all you can at the right times. Sending you a virtual .

I'm not planning on testing this cycle unless AF is very very late as I can't face seeing another BFN. Saying that, I am determined to stay positive.
