Morning all,

We will be here waiting for you to come back calyx- let us know that you're ok like kaloki said.

How are you kaloki?

Thanks lucky Glad you're feeling ok and had a nice break! Hope you enjoyed your big 3-0 birthday How exciting to have your scan date through!

aries- are you and your dh Punch and Judy puppeteers?Hope you are happily symptom spotting away with out trying to have to maintain a sane front for your dh.

Thanks for your advice cavemum- glad your day didn't get any worse.

After all my wittering about FF moving my ovulation and luteal phases and blah, blah, blah AF arrived today. This means flo that I was right to ignore that lower temperature that wanted to move my ov back 9 days so maybe you are right to ignore yours too? That means that this was a 33 day cycle- my shortest yet- and 33 days was the length that they were pre-pill so I am hopeful that this is it and my body has regulated... having said that who knows? Also, it appears that I have a longer than 'normal' luteal phase- the past two months it has been 18 days (yesterday I said it was 17 last month but I checked back on FF and it was actually 18) I know that most people's are between 10-16 so 18 seems a little long??

Will be back later- am playing tennis tonight in keeping with this trying to loose a bloody stone. Haven't played in years- probably going to be crap. Oh well!

Here's the list. I've moved you to 'waiting to TTC' calyx.
Just noticed while doing the list that bellaby and dinky have not been on for a while? where are you hiding?!

I have just signed up to VIP settings on FF- I love it already! The chart overlay feature is excellent and I can see a pattern Little things....

zippys · 27/04/2010 08:06

Just popping my head in before I start work.

Calyx I echo Kaloki we are here if you need us (hugs)

PinkiePoo · 27/04/2010 08:09

Morning ladies....just finished my fix of Glee this morning. 'The power of Madonna'. Does make you realise how great her music is...off to download Celebration me thnks!!

oneof8 i was on Logynon and before that i was yasmin. Would this affect my cycles then? Sounds like you are also having a cycle mare. My AF is starting to reflect me...scatty and a pain in the ass!

cavemum sounds like you had a right day yesterday, so i am hoping now you had your 3's, you now get 3 positive news to make up for it. Big hugs!

cal we are here for you, pop back anytime honey and really hope you manage to get things sorted.

OneOf8 · 27/04/2010 09:57

Pinkie the pill works by messing altering our normal body function with the "active ingredients" designed to stop/do differnet things eg, Mine stopped my skin being so greasy and the second ingredient stopped the eggs being ready for release (so no ovulation). From what you were saying, I was wondering if we had been on the same pill as I know Dianette can take a while to settle down after stopping.

Last time I was at the GP's they said it was not uncommon for it to take 9 months - a year to clear the system and see a form of pattern, but they did also highlight some women never get a standard pattern, so not to worry(!)

Cal know its been said, but hope everything gets sorted for you

PinkiePoo · 27/04/2010 10:19

one hmmmm....i better not be one of those ones that never get 'normal'! Well booked a docs apt for Friday, just in case, but not getting my hopes up AT ALL!!

thanks for the help though....glad i am not the only one!

OneOf8 · 27/04/2010 10:32

Pinkie I went to the GP's for a check up for my problem with my cheek and she happened to ask about our TTC. Was a little random, and caught me off guard - I confess a told her the last AF was October, and then she sent me for some standard blood tests.

Didn't really help settle anything but this was when she said about the "up to a year" business. The test showed things as normal (I can tell you what she tested for if you like?) and this was enough for me to know as if everything is within the normal levels, then it is just the waiting game.

It was such a relief to know everything is ok, so personally would ask - even if they test, and confirm the same.

PinkiePoo · 27/04/2010 11:30

I had some hormone test done and they were normal, but i didn't have the day 21 test which checks to see if you are ovulating or not....

yeah i am prob just going for re-assurance. Only prob is i could only get to see my doc (man) who will prob have zero sympathy and will just make me feel silly and i am wasting his time . I want a lovely lady who knows exactly what i am going through!!

claireinthecommunity · 27/04/2010 12:16

Hello all. After my usual couple of days spotting, AF is finally here with full force. So CD1 for me and cycle 12.

I'm interested to hear more about what our individual GPs have outlined as the next steps, re checks and testing, if we've been TTC for a while. I think it was Zippy who mentioned to me a few pages back about speaking with my GP as I was coming up to the one year mark. Thing being, I spoke to my GP around a month ago (I needed to see her for a prescription as my repeat allowance had ended) and said to her that we were coming up to having been TTC for a year and she said that they now wait until two years before any interventions. She also checked my age on the computer and this didn't seem to make any difference to her (I'm 34). I'm a little as I thought they would carryout standard tests after a year of trying, and I thought that that is what some of you had been told/had done?

I did look this up on the NHS website and yes it does say two years - when did this happen, is it a new thing?!

Kaloki · 27/04/2010 12:26

Yikes, think waiting 2 years would drive me nuts. Though I guess it means that you have no need to worry and that a year isn't seen as such a sign of problems.

Sorry to hear about AF Claire.

DP reckons I smell like I do when my period is due, so I'm not too hopeful now.

Ariesgirl · 27/04/2010 13:17

Claire that actually makes me a very cross on your behalf. Everywhere else I've seen, it says one year if you're under 35 and six months if you're over. Obviously nothing's cut and dried and everyone's different, but in one year you'll be 35 and knowing the snail's pace that NHS fertility help moves, that's bloody ages to wait if you're then waiting three to six months between appointments if there is a problem that needs addressing. Seems to me that it's a money saving exercise pure and simple. I'm 35 (just) and in a couple of months will be coming up to the 6 months mark. I don't think I'll be going to the doc's at that point, as I would never want IVF anyway, but I'd like to think I'll be seen if I do change my mind, seeing as I've paid my taxes for years and don't even use the NHS unless I absolutely have to.

OneOf8 · 27/04/2010 13:29

Hi Claire, My GP done basic tests, but this was more to do with the lack of AF's than lack of BFP.

I was told they count TTC as a year from AF's, after allowing up to a year to "regulate". - Not sure if this is normal, but this would be my case, taking me up to 2 years ? is this what you GP said?

This may not be relevant to you, but ask if they could do a blood work to check the basics' were all within the norm/average? I was told that if the test weren't ok then they would refer me straight away, but if they were ok, then it would be the time scales as above - unless I didn't have AF.

Given it appeared literally the next day, I'm going to wait till start of September and if things are still like this, then go back if needed - but this time armed with all my dates etc and ask for a kick start!

I know it's crap, they do highlight MOST fall within the xx timescales therefore someone has to be out side this. NHS says 92/100 couples fall pregnant within 2 years, but if it is starting to take its toll on you, try actually asking for the basic blood tests for peace of mind as stress is no good for TTC (or your relationship)

Laloki chuckled at DP's comment on your smell! I have never noticed this on myself... something to start looking out for as all other what used to be signs of AF have been sidelined as unreliable as went on from Feb - April...

OneOf8 · 27/04/2010 13:31

Sorry - should be try insisting - not asking, as if they put you off once...

claireinthecommunity · 27/04/2010 13:37

Hi all, just popping out, will read through and post a little later

Kaloki · 27/04/2010 13:41

"chuckled at DP's comment on your smell!"

DP has sensory defensive disorder, and so has as an effect of this really sensitive sense of smell. So it really notices to him, apparently OV smells more appealing. Must be a primal thing so men are put off sex during periods. Weird huh?

CaveMum · 27/04/2010 13:44

Afternoon ladies, hope you're all enjoying the weather.

Another busy day in work for me, but thankfully no more bad news!

However I came home to find my hallway looking like a small-scale horror movie had been filmed in it! There was blood splattered across the floor and on the skirting boards and at the other end of the hall a small dead baby bird along with some small cat paw prints in the blood! Darn cat!

To be fair, it wasn't a massive amount of blood but still not what you want to have to clear up on your lunchbreak!

Ho hum!

Quick question for all you temp takers - when taking your temperature orally do you pop the thermometer under your tongue or just inside your cheek?
My thermometer, along with some free ovulation sticks and pregnancy tests arrived. Only another 4 weeks before I can start charting!

OneOf8 · 27/04/2010 13:55

Kaloki No, not weird at all - that is really interesting - sorry, hope I didn't offend you?

I remember reading that somewhere (about the females "smell" being attractive) but as I have never noticed it, thought it was one of those things where it was subliminal. Am going to ask OH if he can notice anything as may come in handy if he can tell if/when I am ovulating would take all the effort out

Kaloki · 27/04/2010 15:03

No offense at all

MrsWajs · 27/04/2010 15:50

Afternoon all

Just finished work and bloody knackered! Roll on Thursday for a day off!!

Very interested in your post ClaireITC I'm going to take a random guess and say that fertility treatment is yet another one of those things that is dealt with as per postcode!! I was told by my GP that if I had no luck after a year of TTC then to go back and they would start blood tests etc and then referral to assisted conception unit, and I'm only 27. So basically no age limit to me just the 12 month timescale! They did also point out that of the 20% who didn't conceive within the first year, 85% of them did go on to conceive in the second year of trying - hardly comforting to someone who has convinced themselves that they are the minority!! She also recommended SWI'ing every 2 days throughout my cycle as per NICE guidelines - clearly she has never attempted TTC'ing herself!! Trying to find out what my local policy is on the whole subject so will get back to you on it.

Cavemum I usually just ram the thermometer as far under my tongue as I can get it (as per the instructions on the pack!) and then consequently fall back asleep and let a load of cold air in my gob, so I would hardly be surprised if my temps were all wrong!! Had a slight dip today too so now thouroughly convinced I am not pg this month And don't know how many days to expect my cycle to be since I had the very random long one last month

Since we're on the subject of pills has anyone else been on Cilest?? I was always of the impression that once you stopped taking your pill it was out of your system within 24 hours, hence possible pregnancy (if only!) if you missed one! So never did quite get the "it needs a year to get out of your system" line?! Can understand it for the depo but not the pill.

Anyway nowt much else to say, had slight heavy feeling in the uterus region today so either AF is en route or I'm maybe only just ovulating!! Who would know!

CaveMum · 27/04/2010 17:56

MrsWajs how dare you suggest I do something as outrageous as read the instructions

No butchered wildlife this evening!

Heading off to another salsa class later shortly so will pop back later on.

PinkiePoo · 27/04/2010 18:02

i LOVE teaching n' all....but right now i am glued to the sofa, and at 7.15 i have to teach an energetic street jazz class.....>>>>>>>one day hopes the OH will become millionaire so never have to work.

Ariesgirl · 27/04/2010 18:09

Aaarrgh, TOO MUCH WORK! I'm a woman on the edge! Why does everything come at once?

maamalady · 27/04/2010 19:11

Oneof8 - what were the basic blood tests you had done? I'm going to the nurse tomorrow for more bloods, something to do with thyroid testing I think. I shall have to ask her what they're actually testing for!

I am on day 88 today and feeling rubbish about the whole thing. Wish AF would just sodding well come back! If anyone's got any ideas of anything I can do to try to encourage it, they would be gratefully received! I don't like feeling like I'm broken inside

OP posts:
claireinthecommunity · 27/04/2010 19:45

Thanks all for responding to my earlier post.

The NHS website does say investigations will be undertaken after 2 years of trying, however, I do feel that my GP isn't enthusiastic about me and PG, because of medication I am currently taking, and health issues I have. I cannot give any 'hard evidence' for this, it's just a sense that I get from her. Whenever I have mentioned TTC or PG with her she seems to be quite dismissive, and there is certainly never any glimmer of encouragement or excitement, not that I expect this, it's just that some of you have mentioned this from your own GPs.

Oh god, this post seems really miserable, I think I'm just feeling hormonal, I am CD1 after all

I'm actually having a good day, apart from the cramping and heaviness. DH is being very attentive, he took me out for a meal last night and we went out for a few hours today, just for a change of scenery as it was such a nice day

Hope you all have a good evening.

Kaloki · 27/04/2010 20:58

claire My GP is the same. It's not what you want is it?
