Hello ladies, after a mammoth 47 day cycle hoping for a December baby, today is once again CD1 for me.

If all goes to plan this month my EDD would be Jan 30th so I thought I'd start the February bus as a positive step forward.

Am fully expecting to be on my own for a while but do come and sit beside me for the journey if you feel the need......

Oh boring - another neg OPK today. Hurry up!! CD 18..

Who is testing in the next few days btw??

Rockbird · 13/05/2010 15:21

So explain the temp thing to me please decaf, I've never temped before. I could google it but it might distract you for a minute and I'm lazy

I'm not testing for another 10 days at least

rosieposey · 13/05/2010 18:05

Im not going to start testing till next Thursday/Friday as i got my smiley face on Tues afternoon (and even then its probably too early) Im not even sure if i did ovulate as i got the on the digi opk but i had only just got them in the post and it was day 15 and i did another a few hours later and it was neg again so either those internet opks were faulty (as had been showing neg for three days) or i had about a 4 hour surge (unlikely) Have covered all the bases just incase though so we shall see. Im inclined to think that i did start surging during the night and it only lasted into the following afternoon when i got the positive digital opk - there was definately enough LH hormone to turn the digi positive as the sticks looked darker than any other i had done its just weird it was only in that sample though.

2ww is dull as shit and i hate it when it starts all over again.

Impatienthove lol i had a row with DH on Monday and missed SWI on that morning - i figured that hopefully if i ov'd around that time that Sunday would have covered it (figuratively speaking) as it was didnt get the till Tuesday so it didnt really count anyway.

All those temping, is it really complicated? I might give it a bash next month - will have to read up on it.

moulesfrites · 13/05/2010 20:59

hello everyone, I have not been on for a while, but am currently 8dpo according to fertility friend, and my temp was up again today, although I am trying not to read too much into this. This is my first month ttc, but it is amazing how easy it is to get swept up in it all. So far, my ridiculous symptom spotting has included - "fizzing" and erect nipples and tea tasting different, but I'm not sure I would have noticed these things if I wasn't looking tbh.

rosieposey temping is far more straightforward than I imagined, especially if you sign up to fertility friend.

milanomum · 13/05/2010 22:23

ARGH so, not only is dh an arse around this time of the cycle but he's gone and got himself sick, hasn't he!? FFS!! I have a sneaky feeling he may actually be calculating my fertile period and doing it on purpose...

Nah, that'd involve research. hoping all will be ok by tomorrow....and the day after...and the one after that.

decafgirl · 14/05/2010 12:22

Hi ladies, rockbird the temperature thing works by taking your temp every morning, literally, just as you wake up, with a special, digital, thermometer then plotting your temp on a graph.

During the 1st half of your cycle temps are average (the boring bit) then AFTER ov has happened your temp goes up, above the 'coverline' of the temps before. If your temp stays high beyond your normal LP then you're probably pregnant. On the day your period is going to show up your temperature takes a nosedive therefore saving you the dosh of POAS...

Phew, I think that's it oh, except for the possibility of an ovulation dip (just before the big rise) and an implantation 'dip' but not everyone gets those...

Simple eh?!

PS) now have no idea what's going on with my cycle and am just going to keep up the SWI (pretending it's SFF) until AF arrives (or not)

Way, way too many brackets but what the hell, it's Friday!!

OP posts:
Prinpo · 14/05/2010 13:46

Had a look on fertility friend and feeling very, very confused. I think all my brain can take is SWIing every other day from about a week before until a few days after and then just hoping for the best!

I can pretty much tell when I've ov'd, which makes things easier. It's so frustrating, though, when you know you've given it your best shot (as it were) and still nothing happens.

womanlytales · 14/05/2010 13:55

Prinpo my experience has been to not do any tracking partly because the tracking doesn't work due to my PCOS situation..and secondly because it's a huge drain on my emotional well-being. FF for me was also quite daunting and while I downloaded a chart and ran it for a month - I quit and feel relieved to have my life back. [I know - quite extreme reaction - - but I guess it's in response to the intensity of all the tracking that was driving me nuts]

boba82 · 14/05/2010 14:12

Prinpo and womanly I'm with you guys, way too confusing for me. I'd end up doing it wrong, I've got a CBFM and that's difficult enough for me!

8rubberduckies · 14/05/2010 14:37

I'm using Fertility Friend and have PCOS, quite a few women on there have it, but I've heard the same thing as womanlytales, it can be very difficult to follow a chart if you have PCOS. I thought I'd give it a go for a couple of months and if it seems like a waste of time just stop.

I thought I'd try temping as the idea of SWI for the whole of my bloody ridiculously long cycles was more than I couold take without turning into a jibbering wreck! (I'm a busy woman don't you know, too busy for all that hanky panky nonsense every night! )

I'm not using all the features on it, just the simple ones of recording my Cervical Mucous if there's anything of note and my temperature every morning, and I seem to be keeping on top of it. They send a daily tutorial to your email inbox on different aspects of charting fertility when you sign up. I haven't studied every one in great detail, but read it and keep it in my inbox just in case I need it in the future.

I am now taking agnes castus and star flower oil to try regulate my cycles as they are really long. Plus warned dh that swi will be happening a lot more frequently! Oh and bought myself a digital thermometer so going to give that ago too!

8rubberduckies · 15/05/2010 18:17

Mmmm yummy cakes thanks purplefan, what did you put in them?

I'm up near the front of the bus but am hanging on before POAS, as I don't want to be too early. Saying that though according to my temps I should test 25th May but don't know if I'll be able to hang on that long!

Crazed symptom spotting is out of the question too as most of them are the same as Metformin side effects for me ... heartburn, nausea, metallic taste in mouth. So, it's going to be a quiet week or so for me so I'm going to sit here with my cake and enjoy the scenery.....

Rockbird · 15/05/2010 20:22

I should be testing about the 24th. Seems like ages away. Not hopeful though, I just don't feel pg...

debka · 15/05/2010 20:31

I am actually looking forward to some BDing in the next few days... lets hope DH is also so inclined (have noticed that I get in the mood a lot more at the appropriate time of the month, anyone else have this?)

Good luck 8rubberduckies and rockbird, hold out as long as you can!

Rockbird · 16/05/2010 10:19

How early could you start to feel sick? Last couple of mornings have felt as sick as a dog, comes in waves. Am about 8 days before testing

rosieposey · 16/05/2010 10:33

Morning all, Only day 20 here - but i should know either way if i am pg this cycle by this time next week, this is going to be a long old week!

Rockbird you probably arent feeling sick because you are pg - seems a little early for that but saying that there are plenty of people on this board who will testify that they felt sick very early on so who knows? Will keep everything crossed for you though.

Symptom spotting here too, last month when i wasnt pg i got no AF type pains at all between ov and AF so i didnt think that i was pg anyway. The month before with the chemical pg i got alot of AF in the days following ov. I am getting the odd twinge so im keeping my fingers crossed that this month is lucky for me - i doubt it though given my age and statistics, might be at this ttc malarky for a while yet i think.

My poor eldest DD (17) was referred to a specialist for PCOS a few weeks ago we saw him on Friday, she is having a scan next Friday and has had her bloods done already so we should get a clearer picture next week. She hasnt had a period for nearly a year and before that it was only a couple of times a year. The consultant wants to put her on the pill which she isnt keen on but he seems to think it might be for the best. I know there is lots that can be done to help PCOS sufferers which i am very glad about because she really really wants children of her own bless her, shes very young but adores her baby brother and is very excited at the prospect of another possible sibling too.

Well im off out for some lunch today, makes a change from cooking it!

decafgirl · 16/05/2010 11:50

Hi all, still no good news here unfortunately. My temps went up again yesterday then down again today so my chart actually looks like I haven't even ovulated. I've been really organised taking my supplements this cycle so can't understand why it looks like I'm in for another long cycle. Am now also concerned about my health because I've had that mid cycle bleed which I've never had before and yesterday I had what felt like period pain all day. Yesterday I felt like that was a good sign but now my temps are down again I'm just very, very confused! Grrr...
