I thought I'd start a thread for all of us who worship at the shrine of Toni Weschler, spend whole seconds analysing cervical mucus, slip over in the shower checking cervical position and spend two minutes every morning flicking their heads from side to side in a valiant attempt to stop a baby pulling the thermometer out of their mouths. Ladies, this thread is for all of us, may it see many many BFPs!

Thank you ladies, I am feeling very empowered after reading your posts.

I will make an appointment first thing tomorrow and go in armed with my temp chart and all the other info I need!

Sorry if this is a bit tmi but I have just checked and I think there may be the starting of some EWCM (I don't get very much) In previous months my temp dropped just before ovulation so what with maybe having my mouth open and the window was open that might explain the low temp this morning. With that little tiny bit of hope we will be SWI later and who knows maybe we will be lucky

Thanks again for the fantastic support and I will keep you posted.

LittleSilver · 18/07/2010 17:45

Good luck Dani.

Now go and be empowered (listen to "Independent Woman" or silimar in head as you stride to GPs!)

chocciechip · 18/07/2010 17:56

Fingers crossed dani - sounds like you have good reason to be optimistic. Please can you re-post the link to your chart so we can stalk support you with a visual in mind .

Has anyone ever used the 'Friends' feature on FF before (I haven't)?

I saw a tab on my homepage which says you can link with other people by putting in their chart homepage URL (they have to approve it, I think, like Facebook works).

I'm wondering if this might be a way to stay connected with charts because I find it difficult to track back through the threads and find people's chart links, but I am very nosey interested in how others are getting on.

What do you think?

Danilou22 · 18/07/2010 18:09

I have no idea how to use the friends feature but here is the link to my home page.

dani my 7 year old son keeps singing - I am a woman on a mission! It makes me laugh so much to hear him sing it - perhaps you could adopt it as your theme tune as you enter the GP's.

Sometimes I do feel like a bit of a fraud on this thread. I'm not on FF and I have no idea what anyones charts really mean and I have no idea how to post my charts on here (as I told you before they are just paper and pencil )

Having said all that - I do worship Toni whats-her-name and I have grown very fond of you all, so I will hang about and try to look like I know what you're all talking about (God it's like being back at school - i used to do a lot pretending I knew what what was going on there too)

We just got another BFP announced on the over 40's - so that's fab news.

theteasonme · 18/07/2010 19:27

Hi ladies, just dropping by to say RTD did indeed appear on Friday. However, it's now CD3 and it's onwards and upwards as they say so just looking forward to another month of opportunity.

Digi I really hope this is your month hon xx

Orchid12 · 18/07/2010 20:22

teason sorry to hear RTD turned up. Onwards and upwards like you say

hippy I like your sons style - sounds inspirational!!

Not sure I've got anything to add really. Just on CD9, so got a while to wait until anything exciting happens in our house (normal OV is about CD 18 - but was a bit off track last month).

Hope you've all had a good weekend,

Orchid

beachtent · 18/07/2010 20:38

teason bad news about RTD, hon. Disappointing for you. Hugs.

hippy i love the image of a 7 year old boy singing that!

So far no-one's answered my previous questions about EWCM - how far does it have to stretch to be classed as EWCM? Is 1 inch stretchy enough? Or does it have to be like that pic in the link I posted earlier? (Don't worry, I get Weschler this week - borrowing it from a friend!)

beachtent · 18/07/2010 21:17

Just saw these amazing photos of actual ovulation taking place - wow! (Stolen from another thread on mn)

bessie26 · 18/07/2010 22:47

Danilou that low temp is wierd - have you checked you still have a pulse? Have you checked your thermometer is ok? (take your temp 3 times & check you get roughly the same result) Otherwise I guess it's on for the ROT.

for the long cycle... my longest ever has been 88 days - I wasn't charting or anything back then so had no bloddy idea what was going on!
I did manage to fall pg on CD65 last summer, but it didn't stick

looking forward to hearing how you get on with the reflexology!

beach I don't think it matters how far it stretches, just the fact that it stretches is enough...

digi you've got a nice looking temp rise going on there - here's hoping it continues! I don't have a long LP, I'm normally around 12 days, but usually get a temp drop on the day of or after my period.

I had no idea about the "friends" thing on FF, but I just looked at a couple of your charts & clicked a link, so I think I have sent you a friend request!

I am always happy for anyone to stalk my chart! After 13 cycles of TTC I'm up for all the help I can get!

beachtent · 19/07/2010 11:12

Hey ladies, I was just wondering - a faint line on an OPK - does this mean nothing? Like, totally nothing? Or does it mean there's a bit of LH, but not much? Is it a bit like a pregnancy test where a faint line does indicate something?

Does anyone ever get kind of dragging, period type pains when they're ovulating?

digi keeping my fingers crossed for your temp rise to continue!

Orchid12 · 19/07/2010 11:25

beach my understanding is that a line means that some LH has been detected, but that it's not enough to trigger OV. From my own experience (which is becoming more extensive than I care to think about!) I get faint lines in the lead up, which get progressively darker until I get two days of positives before a neg (and on the neg day I OV). So, I get a sort of lead in pattern which I interpret as a build up of LH. I know not everyone gets this but it sounds like you may find you do too.

Don't be fooled into thinking a line means a potential positive in the same way as for a PG test. I still get lines on an OPK after OV (although very faint) as I think you always have LH in your system.

HTH

digitalgirl · 19/07/2010 12:20

teason sorry rtd came, but hey you're already cd4 today!

beach Think the stretchier ewcm is the more fertile it is. Also a faint line on the opk could mean the lh surge is due in a few days. I get incredibly bloated the day I'm due to ovulate, and feel all sorts of twinges when it happens. But I know not everyone can feel it.

Well, temp dipped quite dramatically today. Not below coverline but not looking hopeful. Prob get rtd tomorrow or Weds. Boo. This is the worst part of the cycle, when you know you're not pregnant and just waiting for your period.

chocciechip · 19/07/2010 12:40

Hi everyone ...

Orchid I so know what you mean . I said to DH that I started to realise how long I'd been TTC when I knew many of the answers to questions people asked on MN - like I was this 'old hand' at TTC. When I first came by here I was so naive and pregnant for the first time. It is incredible to me that for some women, PG never gets more complicated than that.

Digi, dani and bessie: it took me a while, but I finally spotted the 'add to friends' button at the top right on your chart homepages and clicked that link .... so I might have sent you friend requests.

dani How was today's temp?

beach If it were me, I'd start to SWI from the moment I saw even a faint line, just to be sure .... I did see that FF have a gallery of images for HPT and OPK tests though. One more thing to waste time spend ages researching .

As for EWCM - mine is not very stretchy and I'm a bit worried about it, but I don't know if I should be or not.

digi Just had a look at your chart, and at first glance it looks exciting (triphasic????). But I overlayed my latest chart on top of yours (I do this because I can't really think in terms of what's high and what isn't if I don't do a comparison), and saw on the overlay that you updated today's temp and it was a drop in temp ...16 DPO is not appearing on your homepage yet. Are you feeling as if AF is on the way..?

hippy No way you're a fraud! I think charting by pen and paper is REALLY hard ... I tried it once a few years ago and gave up very quickly. FF is really easy, and does all the thinking for you - honestly. It's as easy as finding your way around MN (although, I will say figuring out how to share charts could have been simpler IMO ). If you ever want to give it a go for yourself I'm happy to hold your hand and walk you through it step by step.

AFM - my temps are dropping right on schedule so it looks like yet another unsucessful cycle . I expect AF will be here tomorrow.

beachtent · 19/07/2010 12:46

digi sorry your temp dropped today. How many cycles have you been ttc?

I'm feeling miserable too - I'm convinced this cycle (my first one of charting) is going to show a really short luteal phase, since I'm already on CD13, no ovulation yet, and my cycles tend to be 24 days long (but vary between 18 - 28 days). Ugh. Faint line on OPK - but if this is as everyone suggests, ovulation will be due in a few days, leaving not much time for luteal! Perhaps I'm being pessimistic and I should just wait and see what happens. But still feeling miserable.

I must say I'm feeling a little bit obsessed with the whole charting thing - does anyone else get like this??!?

beachtent · 19/07/2010 12:48

cross posted with you choccie - sorry your temp has dropped too

Orchid12 · 19/07/2010 12:57

choccie that's why this place is so good! It's good to know that other people are also going through this and you're not the only blinking person ever that doesn't get PG by merely winking at their other halves!

beach you might find that this is simply a longer cycle rather than finding you have a short LP? Wait to see what happens before getting too down about it . When I think I have a handle of my cycle, it goes and does something else so you may be wrong (in a good way!)

Here's my current chart if people want to link to it: www.fertilityfriend.com/home/1cb0e1

digitalgirl · 19/07/2010 13:26

beach been ttc#2 since last August. Had early mc in Nov, and then another in April. This is my first proper cycle since my last mc. So even when I do get a bfp I'll be nervous as hell.

orchid temps looking nice and steady there.

choccie not feeling particularly one way or the other. Had quite severe pre-menstrual cramps last cycle but then it was first period since mc so I expect that might have been more of an influence.

I do find temping makes you obsess a bit more, but for irregular cyclers like me it's so much more helpful than wondering if you did actually ovulate or if you've got to keep swi-ing for another two weeks.

chocciechip · 19/07/2010 13:26

beach First thing I do every morning is take my temp then go back to sleep for a couple of hours, Second thing I do is add my temp to my chart. And the third thing I do is spend time overlaying it and comparing it to previous cycles and looking for anything that can give me hope. Am I obsessed? Probably. DH suggested I stopped but there's no way I could now.

Has anyone else got bitten by the 'compare your chart to other people's pregnancy charts' bug yet on FF?

I agree orchid. I just fear that I might be one of those people who never ever has a successful pregnancy. I've linked to your chart too (I think ). I assume friend requests show up under the 'friends' tab above the homepage but not sure.

digi I must have cross-posted with you earlier. I feel the same way about this stage - this is the worst part for me too. It's the moment when I realise how much I was clutching at hope even when I knew I didn't really have much hope to clutch at.

beachtent · 19/07/2010 16:15

choccie i think I'm heading towards obsession very quickly! And yes, i've already been comparing my charts even though i've only been doing it for a week and there's nothing really to compare! i don't know where i'm finding the time. It's very distracting.

I was sad to read your comment about maybe being someone who never has a successful pregnancy. perhaps i need to go back through earlier posts and catch up on your story more fully.

Does anyone have an opinion on these? (It's an ovulation microscope)

In my obsessiveness, I think I want one!

Danilou22 · 19/07/2010 19:35

Hi Ladies,

Beach - I have an ovulation microscope. My sister in law swears by them. I use mine on and off but would like to start using it more.

Temp was 35.58 today. The more I think about it the more I wonder if the fact I snore is getting in the way. That still does not explain the length of my cycle and to top it off I have had nausea and heartburn today!

Still SWI just incase!

I have made friends on FF Choccie!

beachtent · 19/07/2010 20:50

Oh I feel a bit worried! Still no ovulation, but loads of period type pains today, heavy dragging type feelings in my pelvis, feels just like a period. But I'm on CD13! What is going on?

bessie26 · 19/07/2010 21:34

beach - wierd, could it be O happening? I don't get any feelings of O, so have no idea what it feels like! How are your temps?

danilou - do you really rate the saliva ferning thing? I have thought about getting one before, but decided it was one step too far on the obsessiveness scale!

beachtent · 19/07/2010 21:51

Maybe O happening but all OPK tests I've done over the last 3 days have been negative or a faint line. I'm baffled! Maybe it's just wind .

Does a ferning test really give you any more info than BBT and monitoring CF? Or just another thing to feed the obsession?

spilttheteaagain · 20/07/2010 09:26

Who asked about EWCM? Mine was always a bit rubbish, only about 1cm or so of stretch, but that didn't seem to matter. So if you've got an inch, I'm sure it's fine.
