I thought I'd start a thread for all of us who worship at the shrine of Toni Weschler, spend whole seconds analysing cervical mucus, slip over in the shower checking cervical position and spend two minutes every morning flicking their heads from side to side in a valiant attempt to stop a baby pulling the thermometer out of their mouths. Ladies, this thread is for all of us, may it see many many BFPs!

silver i tested on day 28 which was 14 days after my ovulation. And i got a pregnant 1-2 weeks message. I would urge you to hold out til then if you can. But i know it isn't easy. The best thing to do is to get that first morning wee in the loo and flushed away. Then you think, I wish i'd kept that in a pot so I could test but ho hum will have to wait for tomorrow's first morning wee. etc etc and so it goes on till you're 14 days post ov.

Early negatives tell you nothing. Am I not preg or is it just too early to tell - have I just wasted my money??? Yes - cos you are no further than you were before the test.

Good luck for when you do test.

It would be great if it could be DH's birthday.

Do you have any feelings about whether you could be - mystic meg?????

Welcome bunder Not sure about the temp thing. Mine is 36.30 pre ovulation and about 36.75 post ovulation. I think there is a huge variation between people though.

emptyshell · 04/06/2010 12:57

Bunderthebonnet mine's seemingly the same - was 36.12, now it's mooching around 36.4. Apparently, after my frantic googling around it can just simply be if you sleep with your mouth open, which it probably is in my case - with my husband snoring, me snoring and the three legged cat snoring our bedroom's a lovely sound!

justshaggy · 04/06/2010 13:07

silver I agree with hippy. Wait for 14DPO. My last pg I got my first BFP very late on day 14, but it was very faint ... lots of BFNs before then. Last cycle I tested early and got an evaporation line. Up until then I had felt fine-ish about the fact I didn't feel PG, but that evaporation line made me cling to hope and when the BFN that I had previously been fine about came and it was much harder to take. This cycle I'm not testing early no matter what (I'll probably need reminding of that!).

Hullo hippy

empty If you chart on Fertility Friend you can do very targeted searches for other peoples charts to compare to yours(i.e. in your case look for charts showing an ovulatory cycle, post miscarriage, in celsius). In fact, you can even ask it to search for charts just like yours. How did your appointment go yesterday?

rubberduckies I don't use OPKs for reasons others have said here, but I do have a CBFM and love it. I need the extra 'heads up' that you get from an LH surge, and I really like the way I can add it to my charts and use it to correlate with my temps. So far my CBFM and charts match perfectly every time - even last cycle, when ov was delayed by 4 days.

BUnderTheBonnet Not sure if there is such a thing as 'normal' or if everyone is different. What matters most I think is that you see a biphasic pattern in your chart. FWIW, my temps are between 36 and 36.4 in first half, and 36.4 and 36.8 in second half (well, for previous cycle anyway).

emptyshell · 04/06/2010 13:21

Appointment was crap - because I was stupid enough to go to the GP with my miscarriage - he won't help me with fertility anymore. Waste of time - next time I'll sit at home with the maxi pads and suffer in silence.

BabyValentine · 04/06/2010 13:31

Oh, empty How long ago was your miscarriage? Justshaggy's idea about joining FF and looking through the chart gallery is a good one. It might reassure you a little.

silver, the HPT birthday gift would be fantastic (DH still has ours from DD ) but I second/third the 'not-testing-til-as-late-as-possible' opinion, especially after my experience last month.

spilttheteaagain · 04/06/2010 16:56

Oh empty that's appalling, I'm so so sorry to hear what a kn*b your doctor is. There is no way that you should have to keep a miscarriage secret in order to make sure your can get some medical help with conception.

Is there any possibility of switching surgery and trying a new doc?

Take care of yourself xx

justshaggy · 04/06/2010 17:48

empty I agree with spilttheteaagain - your doctor sounds like a total knb. My Dh has similar feelings to you about my MCs: he points out that if we had never had them then we'd have been getting all sorts of support by now, especially at our age. Instead of the ZERO support we get because we had two MCs. I know what he, and you mean, ... but my nutritionist, my chinese medicine guy, my GP and my consultant have ALL said that the MCs are (medically speaking) a good thing because they show you CAN conceive. Both the chinese medicine guy and the nutritionist also say they are much easier for them to treat than infertility. A crp thing to feel grateful for (and I don't feel grateful for mine - I still feel cheated) but it is something I try to keep in mind.

LittleSilver · 04/06/2010 21:01

empty, you GP is a wizened old twit. But you know that. You poor old thing.

Yes, you are all right. Am not going to poas tomorrow, am not going to poas tomorrow.

Help!! Hi ladies, I need your help! I have a 14 day LP, the only part of my cycles that I can rely on. At 13dpo yesterday temps went up instead of down so I rushed DH out at 7am to buy a test - BFN. This morning temps are still up (36.60) so I tested again with a FR and it's still NEGATIVE!! WTF?! How can this be? Please help!!

spilttheteaagain · 05/06/2010 08:48

decaf hard as it is, I think you're going to have to just keep waiting for AF/ testing daily until you get an answer one way or the other. Some people can't seem to get a +ve until a bit later. Sounds promising though. Here's hoping

BabyValentine · 05/06/2010 15:33

Oooh, decaf, you just have to sit it out for a few more days. Here's hoping your temps stay high though!

On a less positive note, my AF came last cycle whilst my temperature was still above the coverline on DPO18 (and a few hours after a BFN) - but as your LP sounds far more well behaved than mine, hopefully that won't be the case for you.

My DPO18 post-ovulation temperature was at the bottom of my usual LP range; hopefully your temp this morning was at the top end...

decafgirl · 05/06/2010 15:47

Thank you so much ladies, I've restocked the folic acid - I ran out a few days ago but today thought I'd better get some just in case...

Thanks for replying spilt & Baby I really hope you're right! The temps thing is interesting BV, post ov they normally reach about 36.45 at the most and then when AF is on the way they drop down to 36.25ish then down to 36.15ish the day AF arrives. They're normally about 4 'boxes' above the coverline. This month they're still 9 'boxes' above the coverline at 36.60 which is one of the reasons I'd been feeling positive. I didn't test till 16dpo with DS so will give it till Monday and if there's still no sign of AF test again. It's a good job I found the FR bogof in Boots yesterday!

How's everyone else - any other testers today? xx

BUnderTheBonnet · 05/06/2010 18:10

*Decaf" that's so exciting - my temps shot up around 13dpo when I gor pg last time. Good luck

decafgirl · 05/06/2010 18:27

Fingers crossed B !

LadyBee · 05/06/2010 19:17

Hi ladies, I hope you can help me - this is actually a fertilityfriend question, I'm assuming that one or more of you will be familiar with that it . I've been temping for the first time this month, but had entered in just cycle days previously so there's about 8 months of cycle records on my account. I've just entered in a set of temps, I'm on about day 25, I haven't entered any 'Menses' because my period hasn't arrived but for some reason it's started a new cycle and now thinks I'm on day 2. How do I get it to believe me when I tell it I'm still in the same cycle??

BabyValentine · 05/06/2010 19:39

Oooh decaf, that does sound promising!

LadyBee, I use FF and I have no idea how you would fix that. Have you entered 25 temps with menses starting from CD1?

LadyBee · 05/06/2010 19:55

yes, I just started at day 1 and entered all the temps I'd taken, for some reason when I got to yesterday's temp it switched to a new cycle.
But I think I've worked out a solution - I've found a place where you can delete or merge cycles so I'm going to experiment with that and see whether I can get it back on track.

BabyValentine · 06/06/2010 09:29

That's definately worth a try LadyBee, in fact that was my next suggestion (honest!)

hippychick66 · 06/06/2010 13:51

I'm at work so not meant to be on here at all - but just saw decaf is having a nightmare time. I agree that you have to just keep waiting - (thanks hippy that's no bloody help at all.) I really hope the temps stay up and that you are rewarded with a BFP.

silver have you caved in yet - when will you test??

empty only read this thread very quickly but it seems that you're saying your GP wont help you with infertility investigations because you have had an MC.

I know what you mean, the medical profession does tend to be a bit like - well you know you can get pregnant now so that's fine!

I still think it's worth changing doctors and trying to get someone a bit more understanding. Completely agree that you should not have to suffer an MC in silence incase it means you wont get help with future conceptions.

Sorry if i have got completely the wrong end of the stick about your post - as i say i'm at work and skimming through with 1 eye on the boss .

decafgirl · 06/06/2010 19:15

Thanks hippy I'm still waiting for AF! I've had that heavy, achy feeling I'd usually get just before AF arrives today but still no sign and, although they dipped a little this morning, temps are still well above the coverline. Will test again in the morning if AF doesn't arrive before then. Really think I'll be off to the docs if it's still a BFN. I really appreciate everyone's help with this nightmare, I've got no one in RL to obsess with so MN has been a life line these last few days .

Really hoping I make it to 16dpo...

Danilou22 · 06/06/2010 20:45

Oooh fingers toes and everything else (acept of course my legs) crossed for you decaf!

Can I now ask a bit of a personal question?

When should I start SWI?? My chart is predicting day 20 as my ovulation day from last months stats. I just wanted to know when we should start going for it morning noon and night? I know I should be looking for EWCM but I was just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on the matter? I am tempted to start now and keep going until I get my temperature shift (currently on day 10) but worried I will run out of steam before I ovulate!(no worries my partner will as he is taking his duties very seriously! )

hippychick66 · 06/06/2010 21:14

decaf Keep us informed. Good luck.

danilou I usually started SWI every other day when i saw egg white and kept going until the temp shift. If you don't want to wait for egg white you could start earlier (but don't stop until the temp shift) in other words don't start too early if you think you'll run out of steam.

sperm can live for quite a few days if it's in the right medium (egg white). So probably best to say you'll start about day 14 if you expect to ov on day 20.(then you'd be looking at days 14, 16 , 18, 20 and maybe 22.) Does that make sense???

As for me - I'm having a paranoid day today. I had the tiniest streak of pink when i wiped earlier (I mean almost microscopic!!) and have had some endo pain (my endometriosis always picks up on my hormones).

Anyway, I became convinced that I was going to MC - so much so that i began making notes at work so people could take over when i had time off sick - what am i like!

Anyway, i know it is probably just the hormones kicking in and the tiny streak was probably just the embryo burrowing in. Unfortunately i fear this will be my life for the next 7 weeks - arrgghhhh

BabyValentine · 06/06/2010 21:57

Oh, decaf, only another sleep til 16DPO

I am 14DPO and am getting that crampy, backachey, churny pre-period feeling, so I'm not holding out much hope for this month. And seeing as my last LP was 18 days, I will be won't be testing for AGES (if at all).

hippy - I definately agree that the weeny streak was just burrowing, but it must be tough going for you. And I guess that you will just be frantically knicker-checking, tissue-analysing for the next 2 months; I know I would be. Can't say anything more useful than that I'm afraid, just agreeing sympathetically

BabyValentine · 06/06/2010 21:58

grrr, off

decafgirl · 06/06/2010 22:09

Hi Hippy, hi BV...not that I'm becoming deranged or anything...but look what I just found....

hope lies this way...
