eggsovereasy · 15/03/2010 12:40

Hi,

Just worked out I'll be able to test from 25th March 2010. I am determined not to POAS any earlier, obsess or eat my own body weight in chocolate before then.

I would really appreciate some support?

This will be month 14...

Hi - not quite - I'm expecting my next period on 2nd April - I am really hoping it doesnt arrive!! Good luck to you (:

rosieposey · 15/03/2010 13:16

Ohh me me! Ok well im not actually due till the 27th but im crap at waiting and a bit of a poas addict so will start around the 25th.

Sorry to hear your having a bit of an uphill slog ttc - if its any consolation it was 9 months with ds and 12 with dd2 (and i was alot younger when i was ttc her).

I got some postives on opk's yesterday so hopefully this month might have done the trick but im not getting too excited as at my age (38) its supposed to be a 15% chance per cycle. This getting pg business is not as easy as it sounds is it?

MrsFC · 15/03/2010 13:20

Hi there, I'm due on the 22nd March, and it's my 15th month. to early early mc's, one in June, one in Sept. I'm now trying to be much more positive and focus on the fact that it's spring.

Fifteen months of prodding my boobs to assess soreness is enough to drive anyone crazy...!

Some support would be lovely xx

MrsFC · 15/03/2010 13:21

Ohh, Rosieposey, I'm 39 - so I know how you feel - one DS aged 7 x

SpanishLady · 15/03/2010 13:24

This is my second cycle trying and am going to ignore 'the symptoms' I convinced myself I had last time though to be fair to myself they were real and unusual for me (sore boobies, wanted to throw up at strong odours like coffee/vinegar, funny cramping) - this time I'm ignoring it all and saying nothing as got my husband all excited for nothing - so we shall see but good luck to you Ladies...

rosieposey · 15/03/2010 13:29

MrsFC lol@ boob prodding - thats me too!

MrsFC · 15/03/2010 13:57

So... Lets all focus on the fact that it's a lovely sunny days & think positive thoughts about new life & new beginnings...

Every month that is another negative I have to think of a new 'thing' to try. And this month it's positive thoughts.

This is the one my OH liked best - because it meant I was happy & less stressed. I've also been trying reflexology & cranium osteopathy - not sure it works - but it's lovely lying down with my eyes closed for an hour on Saturday morning!!

It feels like forever till I can test on Thurs... I'm going on a girls trip to Geneva on Friday, so in a way it won't matter either way as there will be plenty of wine with my name on it if I get a BFN.

(BTW - that is me trying to convince myself I'm 'so like totally' not bothered... Double bluffing my womb....)

rosieposey · 15/03/2010 14:17

Thats a good one to do MrsFC (double bluffing) i found when ttc ds that if i had some good stuff on to look forward to then it helped me to focus less on getting pg.

LittleB · 15/03/2010 14:55

Hi, I'll join you, I'm only on my second cycle (been wanting to ttc for ages but had to wait due to health issues) and in my mid 30's so assuming it will be a while before I conceive, but I'll be testing first thing on the 25th. I have 26/27 day cycles and the 25th will be day 26, so as long as no AF that will be POAS day for me!
I'm also trying to focus on good things, and will be indulging in wine and pate if AF arrives this month - was wine and creamy st agur cheese last month.
I'll do the double bluffing too, was symptom spotting like mad last month.

PandaSam · 15/03/2010 15:56

Ooh - me me me! I'm due on the 28th. This is my first cycle (sorry - newbie alert!) but have been waiting to TTC for ages and I'm so impatient.

Also have a supply of tests already (they were on offer so I thought I'd stock up!) but now don't know how i'll resist the urge...I already want to POAS but know it will just be a waste of money!

eggsovereasy · 15/03/2010 16:24

ooooh fellow boob prodders hello!!!

I'm 37 so feel the old body clock ticking louder than ever.

The rules

No sticks allowed
No peeing allowing
No boob prodding allowed

Laughs, support, the occasional kick in the shins almost definitely allowed

OP posts:
PandaSam · 15/03/2010 16:56

eggsovereasy I keep checking for a metallic taste in my mouth!!

And I'm constantly going to the loo - but think thats because I know that its a sympton so perhaps if I keep going it will be true

MrsFC · 15/03/2010 19:20

Oops - couldn't resist & wasted £5 POAS this evening when I'm only 7DFO (is that the right acronym - I'm rubbish at this chat stuff - be patient!) BFN of course as it's way too early - so have hidden the stick from the BF & pretending it never happened...

Could I make another rule -
shin kicking = good,
talking about 'babydust'= just a little bit too twee...!

MrsFC · 15/03/2010 19:23

And please kick me in the shins for POAS so early!!!

rosieposey · 15/03/2010 19:45

MrsFC i am a terrible poas early type as well but know enough about hpt's that you can probably start (if you can afford it and so have the inclination) to start testing at 10 days (or even 9 if your really brave) dpo (days post ovulation) I never believed in getting a postive much before the day my AF was due until i got pg with DS (13months) i wasnt due until the Saturday but had the beginnings of achey boobs on the Tuesday, anyway Weds i bought a First Response hpt and poas, at first (within 2 mins) i couldnt see anything so just left it as i thought i wasnt pg and then about 10 mins later i walked past it again and there was a very faint but visible pink line. Im not saying that these are the best tests to use as i have heard good things about lots of hpts (including s/burys own tests) for being able to get quite early results but if you are fairly sure of your ovulation timings and you start testing about 10dpo then that should give you a fairly good answer.

Obviously if you arent then it could be any old day that you get a positive but dont do it on day 7 - its pretty sure that even if you are pg that your newly fertilised egg with have only just implanted and wont be sending out those all important hcg hormone signals via your bladder that your hpt needs to pick up.

Im the worlds worst poas addict (with both opks and hpts) its kind of fun to do but i wouldnt start testing till at the earliest dpo9

Well no kick in the shins for anyone - if you want to test - TEST but if you want to wait, its probably better ( but dont listen to me because i will probably start testing on DPO9

LittleB · 15/03/2010 20:11

Oh I wish I could tell when I ov. I know I could get a poas but have promised myself I won't do that and temping until I've been ttc for 6 cycles. TMI alert - last time (dd 4.10)I could tell roughly from CM, but in Nov I had a chunk of my cervix removed due to pre-cancerous cells, hence have only just started to ttc (2nd cycle) and now CM doesn't help. Was on the pill until jan so hadn't ov'd for ages and can't remember when ttc for dd as only took 2 cycles, and before that I was on the pill for 11 years! I may give in and buy some opks next month and not tell DH! DD was saying I was really warm when she got into bed with me this morning - so theres me thinking perhaps that means I'm ovulating now?! Or I could just be warm! Will jump DH later anyway.

MrsFC · 15/03/2010 20:36

Rosieposey you are right of course. What a dimwit I am. You would think after 15 months i would know better! No more sticks until at least Friday morning before I catch my plane! Thank you for your calm wise words for me and Pandasam too xxx

Little B - your lucky DH - have fun!

rosieposey · 15/03/2010 22:03

LittleB - hope you had some fun (or are having some fun) this eve, just to say - i get my opks on ebay, they are about 7 or 8 quid for 10 and its the first month i have used them. I was a bit dubious so i bought some of the more expensive clearblue digital opks that give you a smiley face to use as well. You are supposed to use the clearblue ones first thing in the morning. Most opks say that you are supposed to use from 10am to 6pm (ish) so i didnt really see how they worked but i used the clearblue digi ones and got my smiley face so started to use the ebay ones as backup to see if the clearblue ones were really on the ball.

Sure enough later in the morning when i poas i got a positive from the ebay opks as well (in fact all day as i did three others till i went to bed!) Suffice to say that as of next month i wont use the more expensive smiley face that you get with the clearblue digi but will stick with the £7 ebay opk's to try and see when i am ovulating as they were definately in tune with the Clearblue.

Perhaps you could give them a go if you could get a rough idea as to when you were ovulating next month? I personally have no luck whatsoever with CM as it seems to be the same all month long and i know that meds can interfere with it too - if i didnt know that i had had a LH surge yesterday i wouldnt have known that i might be ovulating anytime soon - if you do get CM though thats a good thing good luck anyway!

eggsovereasy · 16/03/2010 12:49

someone please kick me - I'm boob prodding already!

According to my CBFM I ovulated on CD18/19 (2 days later the usual), so today which is CD20 I already have painful boobs hence the prodding. Or is it just my imagination? Sore boobs = progesterone I think?

LittleB its worth trying if you have regular cycles to show ov!

MrsFC kick in the shins for you will you hold out until Fri?

Rosieposey I might try the smileyfaces, surely I cant got wrong with those!

I have to go for a Day 21 blood test but does anyone know if its better to go 7 days before AF due, or 7 days after ov? I've spent hours googling and only getting more confused?!

I tried the cheapo opk sticks but never seemed to get them to show anything, in daylight, squinty eyes or otherwise, so I invested in a monitor and I am now on month 5... months 1-3 were write-offs due to famiy drama/illness/working away unfortunately, but at least its got used to my cycle.

This 2 ww is a nightmare ....

Might have to book a holiday - any suggestions? Also going off subject - might be a good thing - suggestions for a present for DH who has been an absolute rock over the past few months AAAAhhhhhhhh

MrsFC · 16/03/2010 14:00

Hello everyone!

Yup - definitely holding out till Friday - just before setting off on my weekend away with wine hopefully. (see the double bluff there - ha!)Very very dumb of me to fall off the POAS wagon so soon! !

LittleB & rosieposey I like the smiley faces. I couldn't get them for about six months where I live so I oredered them on line this month - costing me a fortune, but the two times I fell last year they were when I was using them - it seemed more definite than the two lines one if you know what I mean? Also - the smiley face makes me smile - and you know how I feel about positive thinking this month!

I think I'm going to invest in a monitor next month. When do you need to start using them? Should I order it now? (In a whole double bluff, spending sixty quid I don't have on something I hopefully don't need etc etc)

eggsovereasy, I've had the 21 day test & I just went on day 21 counting the first day of my last period as day one. I didn't consider any other daytes - maybe I should have... Iwent for the day 2-3 test this month - but AF came in fits & starts at the beginning and I couldn't work out what day was what and I think I got it wrong because they've called me back for another.

Onto lighter things...
LittleB, how was your night of fun last night?!!

And holidays... Hmmm - do you want a city break, action adventure, or lazing by the pool?

And a present for DH? I find an xbox game normally does the trick!

Not long till Friday! xxx

rosieposey · 16/03/2010 14:40

Eggs The smiley faces are good - this is the first month that they have worked for me. I really wanted a CBFM too but i just couldnt pay out all at once for that and the sticks. We have just moved house and things are a bit tight for a couple of months for us.

Saying that i did buy some really cheap opks from ebay and they were utter crap - did not show anything and i used them in conjunction with the smiley faced ones and midstream white sticks that i got (the £7 for 10 ones) from ebay and they still didnt show anything even when i was getting strong positives from the CB Digi and the midstream ones.

I usually get 28 day cycles maybe at a push and rarely 29 but last month it was more like 30, i got a positive on my opk on sunday which made it day 16 - well apparently you dont ovulate for around 24 hours or so after an LH surge soooo that would have made it day 17 or 18 which means i cant test till day 28 or 27 at the very earliest as that will be 9/20 dpo ... grrrr its very annoying ovulating later in your cycle as it will defnately curb my poas addiction this month (which i suppose is a good thing) but 10 days after is still the 25th so roll on next Thursday. There is no point in me symptom spotting either as i dont get MS or anything - just sore boobs ... prodprod

rosieposey · 16/03/2010 14:42

whoops - i meant 9/10 dpo (not 9/20)

LittleB · 16/03/2010 15:49

Thanks for the tip will get some of those mid-price e-bay ones next month, hopefully won't need them though! Rosieposey I'm planning to test on the 25th too, although I may end up doing one early but will try to resist!

eggsovereasy · 16/03/2010 16:36

Rosie we have the same cycle length, same ov day, same obsession with sticks!!! How will we not give in???

I'm going to order some smileyfaces off ebay - double bluff that!

Holidays - definitely relaxing by the pool with my bump - positive thinking!

Roll on 25th.... kick me!

rosieposey · 16/03/2010 18:57

Lol im no good either - so i need a good kick as well but sod it i am going to start testing early anyway. I got some very dubious tests on ebay last month and had a couple of false positives from them (see the first photo on my profile) the seller said they supplied the nhs and were able to measure 10 mUI of hcg so i figured that i would be able to start testing around day 8 or 9 dpo. Anyway out of the batch of 15 tests there were two clear distinct second line positives (nothing like evap lines) and it seemed to be where the dye had just flooded the test but till it happened the second time i really did think that maybe just maybe.

I bought the first response ones on bogof from Superdrug so will rely on them although i do still have about 5 midstream 'slightly more expensive plastic ones - they look just like s/burys home brand ones so i might have some fun around 8dpo with those god im terrible. I always get really when i get a negative but nothing beats that high and smile that i wear for hours on end when i first find out im pg
