So a slightly lighter and less scary thread for those who are chucking away the pills and the condoms and hoping for the best!

OP posts:
30andMerkin · 19/05/2010 11:51

Hello all, welcome to newbies, and massive congrats to pink and fuzzy!!
This is one scarily active thread - both online and in the bedroom by the looks of things!!

(Take that Lady, I think you're me!).

knittakid · 19/05/2010 16:55

Thank you for the welcomes!

RedNinaBlue the thing about the Big Lebowski is that she did get pregnant... It also happened in the peep show...

Now, my DH wonders if it might not actually be counterproductive, perhaps sperm is like seedlings that now which way is up (somehow without light...?)
Any thoughts?

FrakkedUpTheElection · 20/05/2010 10:50

I'm loving the 'sperm are like seedlings' idea. I think as long as they stay inside you they'll probaby get there anyway. Although random fact - the force of the ejaculate gives them their initial propulsion so as long as that goes in the right direction they'll just keep swimming.

[argh bloody NEMO in my head again]

gormers · 20/05/2010 21:01

Hello hello!
Not posted for a week or so. And what a week it's been!

Hello to all you newbies, welcome on board!

And massive massive congratulations to fuzzy, pink and ljg!! How exciting!!

Am back to JS at the moment before no doubt turning back into a total crazy person for the 2 week wait!! (Not literally JS right this moment I must add, things haven't quite yet got that perfunctory!!)

Hope we can add a few more positives to the good luck run this month.x

bringbackwham · 20/05/2010 21:46

Hello, please may I join?!

Firstly, a HUGE congrats to all the BFP's!! Such exciting news!! It's been really lovely reading through the thread & seeing them start to pop up

I've been taking a look around MN for a month or so now & have been a bit scared by some of the threads(!), but this one looks right up my street and I'm hoping you'll accept me as one of you and keep me from going insane during another two week wait! Currently on DPO6 of our 5th month of TTC no 1...so mid-way through the two week wait & having been so good for the past few days, have suddenly found myself desperately symptom spotting...arghhhhh, someone please wrestle me away from the stick that is calling to me from my drawer!! (hmmmmm!}

Fuzzywood · 21/05/2010 07:25

Bringback welcome, the wait is hard work isn't it. Hang on in there and move away from the sticks!
< waves at Frakkedup and Gormers whilst whistling that flippin tune again>

bringbackwham · 21/05/2010 08:10

Thank you Fuzzy. I just had a thought...if only two week holidays seemed to last as long as this flippin' 2WW!!

30andMerkin · 21/05/2010 09:02

Welcome bringback, but be warned - there are rules here - we're a group of limited acronym-age, and you'll get slapped with a big wet fish if you symptom spot or test too early!

Only joking! Lovely to see this thread getting so active. (and to make up for my ignorance, and the others too scared to ask, what does DP06 actually stand for again?!)

In the interests of science only (honest gov'nor), I have just typed my dates into the ovulation predictor thingy on the Conception pages, and realised that my DH and I are physically in the same country for about 4 fertile days this year. Sigh. I think this might be a long haul!

bringbackwham · 21/05/2010 09:28

hello 30

have taken note of the rules and hereby promise not to test too early & will try my hardest not to symptom spot too much. honest guv'nor

one of the reasons i like the look of this group so much is the limited use of acronyms - honestly, some of the threads i was looking through left me totally confused with all the initials, stats and numbers! (ahhhhh, perhaps THAT's why I was humming Y.M.C.A. the other day - I'd been acronym brainwashed!) i think that 6DPO (I got it the wrong way round in my earlier post - not a good start!) means 6 Days Post Ovulation...

frakkit · 21/05/2010 11:03

You can be strong, bringback! 30 I have almost the same issue, although we might put TTC on hold because he's due a round of deployments early next year and if I fell pregnant this month he'd miss the last trimester and the birth, next few months and he'd start missing important scans and things. BUT they're not actually confirmed yet so maybe we keep trying. Long haul it is.

Must go back to writing my sodding comparative analysis...

vallinnapod · 21/05/2010 14:22

CD53...I feel like tom Hanks in Castaway...without the volleyball to talk to.

tee hee

Over two bottles of champagne told my Ma we are at it with intent. She is clearly very pleased and kept trying to rein herself by thing like "I'll do anything for you, or nothing, or something" bless her. What will she be like when I am spawning her first Grandchild?!

takethatlady · 21/05/2010 15:19

Hey frakkin, comparative analysis of what...? (I'm guessing not of the amount of days you have to shag DH compared to the amount vallinnapod has. That would warrant a bit more than a slap, I think! )

Poor you vallinna - as long as you don't start whacking at your gums with an ice skate you'll get through it...

Hey Gormers, I'm entering the JS stage too (though, tbh, it's shag central at my house all the time at the moment - not sure how long that's going to last!). It's day 9. Not sure what that means as I've only had one 32-day post-pill AF, and I don't have a clue if that's really how long my cycle is or when I ovulate. So I'm just going to try and have sex every day for the next ten days - will need to get some energy drinks, I reckon!

vallinnapod · 21/05/2010 15:28

Ohhh, does the ice skate to the gums thing really work?! Just kidding... now where did I put those skates

I am very zen about it all at the moment - my buddha like state is bound to be short lived but I am enjoying it at present! And planning lots of drunken nights out!

Good luck with the JS marathon takethat, I am loving your work!

frakkit · 21/05/2010 15:35

Lol!

Nah, comparative linguistic analysis of 2 texts...yawn. It's fun picking the texts apart but not so much when you have to write a document about it.

Envying your zen-state vallinna, I'm zen about nothing at the moment.

bringbackwham · 21/05/2010 16:26

ooooh, if there's any zen-like vibes going round, vallinna, can I have some please!

am starting to wonder if buying a new house, gutting it, buying 2 kittens, and ttc at the same time was really one of our brightest ideas...? arghhhhh!

still, it's friday, the sun is shining and a glass of rose is near...hooray! (just the one glass i should add...)

takethatlady · 22/05/2010 11:47

frakkit I know your pain. Are you doing a degree or is it a work thing? (I'm in English Lit - same problem. Fun analysing texts, excruciating writing about them. Worth it in the end though.)

vallinna stay away from the ice skate!!! You should just soak up the rays before you inevitably get rescued and get back to baby making!

Woah bringback, that sounds like hard work. But you'll have a lovely home to bring your baby home to, so it'll be worth it. We've been trying to sell our house but nobody wants it so we're going to take it off the market this week and instead knock the bathroom and the hallway into the living room, put the bathroom where the kitchen is, etc etc. This is going to cause stress as I start a new job in Sep... Must be a nesting impulse!

Will let you know how the JSing goes. Reckon it's Pimms weather so that should get things going!

frakkit · 22/05/2010 14:22

It's for my Masters. I'm so fed up with one of the texts!

No JSing here this weekend.

ljg72 · 22/05/2010 19:31

Hello Everybody! hope all is well in the JS department! congrats to all the BFP!!!.
I'm sorry to say I don't think my little bean is going to make it...
Have bleeding that started yesterday, and got worse...
I'm 6 weeks and the dr says it's not looking good.
Can't be scanned till Monday ( good old NHS, you can only have miscarriage Mon-Fri),
statistically 1 in 3 lose pregnancy...so with that in mind I hope I'm that one...and everybody will be lucky on here. x

Miffles · 22/05/2010 19:59

oh ljg i'm so sorry to hear that. you sound as upbeat as you can be - bless your heart. not going to be an easy weekend for you tho.
Will be thinking of you.

I've got AF today - CD17. so yet another short cycle, scuppering my ideas that i might actually be ovulating. i'm now thinking that the pill was masking PCOS, and now i'm off it's having a field day. Put on pounds and AF every 17 days....hmm...will call the doc on Monday and get the ball moving, as suggested.

vallinna - i so can imagine my mum doing exactly the same excited grandparent-to-be routine! i'll so anything...or nothing....or whatever. love her!!

if it all gets too much for people, be sure to get out in the sunshine and catch up on vitamin D!

Fuzzywood · 22/05/2010 20:43

Oh ljg sorry to hear that. Not wanting to give you false hope but with DD I had bleeding and stomach cramps around 5/6 weeks and all turned out to be ok. Thinking of you and hoping for the best x

williamsmummy1986 · 22/05/2010 22:17

I'm so sorry to hear that ljg, I really hope when you get to your scan it shows a happy little bean bouncing around in there!

How hot is it today? Phew. Talked hubby in to buying me a lovely new maxi dress because I was dying in my jeans. I'm not a small girl and this dress is a change for the norm but I like it :-) and feeling much cooler.
I have to admit when buying it I could have had one size smaller but I kept the bigger size because a)it was cooler like that and b) shhhhh I want a little room to expand over the next few months JUST IN CASE. - I think I might be crazy! Oh dear! Not even pregnant and thinking about maternity wear, I need a slap!

bringbackwham · 23/05/2010 08:34

Oh ljg sorry to hear your news. am sending you a big hug. let us know how you get on at with the scan...keeping everything crossed for you.

williamsmummy i have to admit that i too bought a maxi dress last week and in the back of my head was thinking how it would be good for hiding a bump...so you're not alone on that one perhaps i could give you a quick slap though & then you could give me one, kind of comedy-duo stylee.

takethat sounds like you have a summer of fun with redecorating/demolishing too! love your comment about making it a lovely home to bring a baby home to. thank you - i was having one of those days yesterday where i thought i couldn't take any more dust and i just wanted to be outside in the sunshine instead of up another bleedin' ladder scraping off artex!! and your message made me smile.

vallinna i have a scrapbook of cuttings from magazines, wallpaper samples, paint samples, etc, of things i want to do to this house, and i was showing it to DP's mum...what i forgot is that at the back i have a few cuttings of ideas for a baby room 'just in case'... i thought she was going to pass out when she saw it, she was so excited!!! had to calm her down and say that it was forward planning, blah blah blah, as i could see in her mind she was mentally digging out bootie patterns to knit, etc!

right, i'm going to take miffles' advice now & get out in the sunshine to load up on some vit d. have a lovely day y'all.

gormers · 23/05/2010 09:22

ljg - sorry to hear that, but hang on in til your scan, you never know. Full of admiration for how strong you're sounding on here. Thinking of you and sending you virtual MN hugs. (( ))

Takethat - you're making me tired just thinking about your JSathon!

Bringback - we seem very similar. We've co-incided my DH applying for and interviews for massive new job; a big work exam for me; moving house; married 6 weeks ago and now trying for baby! Let's get all major life events done and dusted within the same 3 months!! Aaaarrrghhh!!

frakkit · 23/05/2010 11:33

ljg am so sorry to hear that. EPUs should definitely be open 24/7!

williams/bringback you're so amusing with your maxi-dresses, and very optimistic that the good weather the UK seems to be having right now will continue!

gormers/bringback - am joining on the 'this isn't great timing'. Married end of Dec, moved to the other side of the world, DH new job, me new job.... Not started planning the baby room yet!

miffles hope your visit to the doctor goes well - PCOS isn't insurmountable so keeping fingers crossed for you.

StarflowerGirl · 23/05/2010 21:12

ljg I'm so very sorry. I really hope the scan shows that all is well.

williams/bringback I almost bought a maxi dress today too! The only thing that stopped me was that I'm 5' 4" tall and the maxi dress swept the floor when I walked. I looked like a paisley patterned Dalek. Still I keep thinking I should buy one to "grow into one day" and I could always shorten it.

As for me I had a gripey pinching pain in my abdomen all morning. My partner is hoping it was implantation pain, but I told him it was probably one too many cupcakes! Still, here's hoping!
