So a slightly lighter and less scary thread for those who are chucking away the pills and the condoms and hoping for the best!

Happy birthday fender and hello grannyapple - for some reason I love your name.

No shagging here for the past week - time just passes and then you realise how long it's been and that this is No Way To Make A Baby. Must get back in saddle soon or it'll be Christmas

BrassicaBabe · 19/04/2010 09:00

Happy birthday fender Did you test?!
Welcome granny
Sorry for the discomfort gormers

I had a fab birthday weekend. V v posh meal. DP quoted as saying "this takes ponce to a whole new level". I really enjoyed it though.

Managed a bit of JSing, not quite as much as I'd have liked due to too much alcohol. But I'm sure it'll pick up. Heading into "fertile days" by the end of the week....

30andMerkin · 19/04/2010 19:10

Come on fender, but us out of our nosiness curiosity!

And loving the 'ponce' factor Brassica, sounds like my kind of place! Happy birthday to you too!

AF here today, which is BANG on schedule. So at least I can count, even if our shagging count was a bit low for month No.1! At this rate DH won't get home from Europe before fertile o'clock this month anyway....

pipistrello · 19/04/2010 21:56

Yum, brassica! I love poncy food and have great greedy envy! What did you eat?

takethatlady · 20/04/2010 08:15

Woohoo! Thrush gone, two sessions down

Liking 'fertile o'clock'! Think that's this weekend for me, and for a change we have nothing much to do. So guess what we'll be doing

Just have to go to the docs now. Have a high heart rate and my feet go blue when I cross my legs. I think this is normal but my mum is insisting that I'm about to die, so I'd better get it checked just to keep her quiet.

takethatlady · 20/04/2010 10:45

Doctor said all is fine and normal. She looked a bit bemused. Mothers!

30andMerkin · 20/04/2010 21:07

Oh god, anyone else struggling a bit here?

AF for the first time since TTC began this week, and I'm not surprised because we were pretty half hearted about the whole thing, but it just seems to have made me the most emotional PMT-ridden wreck!

Normally I just get the rage pre-period, but DH is stranded in Europe so I haven't been able to shout at him , and I have been wierdly worried about him. Now since I've sorted him tickets home I've been feeling all weepy and emotional. Physically I have much worse cramps this time than normal as well - it's like my body is making a point!

And am now sat here on my own, eating paté (because I can!), drinking wine, watching One Born Every Minute on More4, and BLUBBING .

PinkFondantFancy · 21/04/2010 01:54

Hi 30 same here- I actually cried at work last week because people were being nice to me..... Sooo embarrassing!

Glad to hear you've sorted a way of getting dh home safe and sound!!

PinkFondantFancy · 21/04/2010 01:57

Also meant to say, glad everything's fixed and the doc's given you a clean bill of health takethat, must be a relief!!

takethatlady · 21/04/2010 08:13

30andMerkin, you'll be fine! It's probably a horrible mixture of PMT, your husband being stranded in an international crisis (!), which has to be a weird feeling even though he's coming home, and a month of having forced yourself not to obsess about baby-making on this thread! All that repressed obsessive energy has got to have gone somewhere! And my DH cried at One Born Every Minute most weeks, so you're not alone!

I know I'm not supposed to say this, but (without any assistance from temperatures or charts or anything, I promise) I think I'm ovulating - but I also think I am wrong, because it's only been ten days since I quit my pill so that would be very early, I think. Jumped my DH again yesterday, though, so if I am there's hope... and he's a happy bunny at the moment

greenhaze · 21/04/2010 09:03

Hullo all!

First month of 'TTC-lite'. Had first attempt earlier this week (had tried earlier but other half got the jitters - We've done it lots of times what's the problem now )He's so proud of himself now, wandering around with a big grin, and prodding my belly every five minutes. I don't want to ruin his illusion by pointing out that I'd just finished my period and I doubt Im preggers.

Nice to meet y'all!

takethatlady · 21/04/2010 09:28

Hi greenhaze, and hi to your DH too. That made me laugh. I know what you mean about the weirdness of doing it when you know you might be conceiving! I thought I would laugh out loud the first time we did it, but actually it was a sneaky quickie somewhere we shouldn't have been, so it took our minds off it . We'll soon get used to it, I'm sure!

BrassicaBabe · 21/04/2010 10:58

Bloody hell, work is getting in the way of thread reading and posting!

I'm glad to hear everyone is mental even though we're not obsessing!

Do you guys tell DP/DHs when you believe you are in the fertile window or not? Last month I didn't, I just jumped him, as someone else so nicely put it. I don't want to stress him out.

Poncy birthday dinner included things like chocolate fondant with an olive oil pastille, Rhubarb and basil, chicken liver parfait with beetroot ketchup! All great fun!

Day 11 of 28 for me today so heading into time slot of mentalness!

OnlyWantsOne · 21/04/2010 11:02

Hey howe are you all?

Im awash with hormones having a scan on Friday whooo DP is paying as a present to cheer me up (bless, all he'd need to do is give me a lay in, much cheaper)

Any way, hope you are all having much luck just shagging and hope to see you over on the antenatal threads really soon x x x x x x

RedNinaBlue · 21/04/2010 12:35

Hello and good vibes to all.

The Icelandic volcano is preventing our first attempt at baby-making: I am totally ovulating today (wasn't planning to look for the signs, but they're right there and obvious!). Meanwhile, my husband is stranded in another country re: aviation debacle.

(Merkin: commiserations!)

Not too upset about it: I'm mostly pleased that my bits seem to be in full working order since going off the pill earlier this month. I seem to have reverted to the clockwork 28-day cycle I had before the pill. And it's kind of awesome to feel my body doing the things it had suspended during a decade on artificial hormones.

In another 28 days, however, I will make sure we are within baby-making distance of each other; whatever Nordic gods may need to be appeased.

gormers · 21/04/2010 12:52

Oh, I cry at everything- even before I started any if this wanting babies malarky! My best/worst ever was the floods of tears when the man lost his money on deal or no deal!!! I imagine I'll be unbearable if I ever manage to get myself pregnant!!

Good to hear from our graduated class members! Hope all is going well - will hopefully join you all one day!

30andMerkin · 21/04/2010 13:27

Thanks gormers you've made me smile. Whereas RedNinaBlue, our lives seem to be running in parallel!

PMSL at MIA presumed shagging!

I think sacrifices to the Nordic fertility goddess, whoever she may be, are in order to prevent any more geographical mislocations.

takethatlady · 21/04/2010 15:19

Right. I realise this is going completely and utterly against everything that this thread stands for, and I also realise that I am being naive and an idiot and you're all going to think I'm an utter mentalist. But something weird has just happened and I need your help.

I ordered some cheap early testing kits from ebay, and they arrived today. I am working from home, and, as I've only ever tested with expensive ones bought from Boots before (a couple of times in the past when I was definitely not ttc but worried I might be pg), these looked very different. So I thought, as they're only 10p each, I would do one, just to practise, so that whenever I'm really testing I won't get all tangled up in instructions. This, I realise, was completely mental, but it's done now...

Anyway, I followed the instructions exactly and there is a faint, but definitely visible and complete, pink line next to the control line, which is darker. I do not see how this can be possible as I have been on the pill for eleven years and never been pregnant (despite aforementioned mishaps) and I have now been off it for only eleven days. I finished it at the end of a packet so this includes the seven days I would usually not take it. So really it has only been four days. Surely this cannot be??? I didn't forget it during the last month at any time, I don't think...

I'm not on medication, I don't have a medical condition, I did the test properly and checked it at the right time. But I really don't think I can be pregnant.

Am I just doing something stupid? This is exactly what you get for getting ahead of yourself. I'm not obsessed, though, - it was just a stupid act of curiosity. Plus I was desperate for the loo when I did it and I've got nothing left to test again! Could I have just made a mistake? Do the ebay cheapies give you false positives? Help!

takethatlady · 21/04/2010 16:05

Okay, it is confirmed, I am even more stupid than I thought. I have just done another one and realised that, for starters, I was reading the test upside down, so that the strong red line was the control line, there was nothing where the test line would be, and the other line must have been an evaporation mark.

Perhaps it's a good job I did it after all!

30andMerkin · 21/04/2010 16:28

I'd say that's 20p well spent to save you all that angst onthe day you test for real.

Now...

And I'm only going to say this once...

STEP AWAY FROM THE EARLY PREDICTION TESTS!!!

takethatlady · 21/04/2010 16:43

If you catch me at it again you can throw me off the thread! But you won't, I promise! I'll be good...

Grannyapple · 21/04/2010 18:05

takethatlady- burst out laughing & spat my tea, laughing at your instruction reading capabilities! I am exactly the same.

OV week commences this week, so let the JS commence!!

sundrop · 21/04/2010 19:23

Room for another one to join?

Just started reading through the thread and it mirrors my last few months - I stopped the pills in Jan and have been trying to maintain a sensible approach by JS and thought I'd better join here (if you'll take me) before I start obsessing!

The tick-tock of my bio-clock isn't helping - 32 and just getting round to 'seeing what happens', wondering what I've been doing with my time!
