So a slightly lighter and less scary thread for those who are chucking away the pills and the condoms and hoping for the best!

OP posts:
frankenfanny · 03/04/2010 22:03

No I have been in bed with a bad cold

Hope everyone else is away having a good time for Easter though.

I got a cheap glossy mag to read in bed and apparently you can get a fertility app if you have an iphone.

They also claim that at my age you only have 3% of your original number of eggs left .

I think it is a good idea not to get too hung up about this.

pipistrello · 04/04/2010 17:03

Cold sounds nasty- are you feeling any better?

Oh crap, about the eggs! What's your age, if you don't mind saying?

frankenfanny · 04/04/2010 23:31

Hey Pip feeling better thanks. I am 40, not only possible fertility issues but as soon as hit 41 considered a higher risk for birth, however healthy.

We used to joke I could get pregnant just from passing the OH on the stairs. I have been pregnant 5 x though only 3 kids ( 2 mc) not all of them planned , the not planned ones still using contraception!.

I am quite philosophical about it though, I am giving it 6m non serious and 2 years serious but if nothing happens then I can accept my family the way it is.

Just enjoying the "working on it" atm

But I have been imagining how I might announce it and shamelessly stole this idea, to put "Big Brother" on my youngest T-shirt. And perusing the baby names threads....

Hoping everyone comes back with some good news soon

frakkinnuts · 05/04/2010 15:36

I have 2 apps on my iphone - FMC and MyCycles. I prefer FMC because MyCycles is scary.....

Speaking of scary, don't worry, franken, it only takes 1 egg and you're born with thousands so even 3% is quite a lot. I think we're all trying not to get hung up on it for various reasons. I deliberately don't read stuff about conception anymore because I scare/stress myself stupid and that's just counter-productive. If it's gonna happen then it's gonna happen, if it doesn't happen after about a couple of years of not-really-trying then maybe I'll take it a bit more seriously. I'm still v young so don't have the biological alarm clock though!

Contrary to popular belief (aka my paranoia) DH and I have been shagging lots and condom-free too! Let's see how it goes.

How's everyone else doing?

pipistrello · 05/04/2010 18:56

Clocked up a good few over the Easter weekend (though the last one was really quite rubbish, if that isn't TMI - DP is hanging his head in shame at the, ummm, efficiency).

What are the apps like, frakkin? Easy to use? Interesting? Helpful?

Not looking forward to going back to work tomorrow

verycherry82 · 05/04/2010 19:42

Hello all,

Well I'm completely new to mumsnet but as of this weekend my boyfriend and I have decided to stop trying not to get pregnant and just see what happens! Already I am so excited by the idea!

I have PCOS but through losing weight have managed to regulate my cycle a bit so fingers crossed and here we go!!

pipistrello · 05/04/2010 20:17

Welcome, verycherry, and hello! Well done for weightloss - I am envious! How did you find out about your PCOS and get it diagnosed and so on? I am sometimes suspicious I might have it too, but it's always seemed not worth bothering the doctor about as it didn't actually affect me much on a day to day basis (until now I want to conceive, of course!).

OnlyWantsOne · 05/04/2010 20:21

evening all just checking in, can you lot hurry up please and get pregnant, all this talk of shaggins is putting me off my chocolate

30andMerkin · 05/04/2010 22:22

Evenin'

Welcome cherry, sounds like you had a good Easter having that chat... now the fun really starts!

And Only do you really think that the conversations we're going to have after we get knocked up are going to stop putting you off your choc?!?! No such thing as TMI on mumsnet!

Easter not quite a bunny-fest here, on account of a few too many early starts, but still, better than nothing! And chocolate is well known for its aphrodisiac qualities after all...

frankenfanny · 06/04/2010 00:56

I have totally gone off chocolate...is it a sign?

Yup, still not obsessing.

PinkFondantFancy · 06/04/2010 09:44

Hi everyone I'm new to mumsnet but dh and I have decided to stop taking the pill and see what happens! Very excited, but it's been 5 weeks since my last pill and no AF - any idea how long it takes for the first one after the pill???

frakkinnuts · 06/04/2010 11:19

Hey and welcome cherry and pink!

My period took 6 weeks to return and I'm still waiting for a 'normal' cycle which we decided further down was something along the lines of -withdrawal bleed, wait, bleed, wait, bleed. Otherwise it might mess up your dates, which doesn't really matter cos of dating scans but drove me crazy last month cos I had no idea whether testing was reasonable!

30andMerkin · 06/04/2010 11:21

franken I reckon going of chocolate is a sign of something serious, whether it's pregnancy or not I can't comment. (For me it would pretty much have to be a sign of imminent death!).

frankenfanny · 06/04/2010 11:25

Pretty damn serious here too, all those yummy Easter eggs I could steal off the kids, just not interested.

Oh well, if not pg may get thinner (doubtful).

notsochickchickchicken · 07/04/2010 09:15

Morning all, and welcome cherry and pink,

Just thought I'd say hello, haven't been around for a while. Have been away doing lot's of things I shouldn't have as well as lots of shagging!
Nothing major to report although I do have a sore boob, but due on in about a week so not getting excited.

Frank you are lucky being off the choc, I creally need to lose a lot bit of weight but can't seem to get motivated.

BrassicaBabe · 07/04/2010 09:46

Hi All. Welcome cherry and pink

I've been lurking for a few days with nothing useful to add. (I don't like chocolate )

Shagging is rather erratic. Loads at the weekends, then it's a bit quiet through the week. We're not actively ttc so I don't want to schedule it. Just shagging yeah?!

Anyway AF due on Sunday I think. Got mildly sore boobs and twingey insides , but no raging bad mood that usually accompanies PMT. But there's plenty of time of that!

frankenfanny · 07/04/2010 09:59

Hello also to Cherry and Pink - hope you are enjoying your new freedom to the max

Ooooooh, what have you been up to , Notso?

I've been busy with visitors and just getting over a virus which might account for having no appetite, but is def not like me. Tried some more chocolate- still yuk, but had half a jar of pickles, tis somewhat suspicious.

Just been having fun and not charting things exactly, so I think may be late for AF too, so will do a test on Friday if still not here.

The weight loss thing is an issue with me, TBH. I find if I exercise a lot I just eat more. Have you tried Wii -fit? Lazy buggers Busy mums like me don't need to move out the house and 15 mins hula hooping is more fun than going out in the rain for a jog. And eating smaller platefuls is easier than cutting out foods. HTH

BrassicaBabe · 07/04/2010 20:54

Sorry you've been poorly frank Hope you are on the mend.

Ha! Spoke too soon. Have morphed into the bitch from hell! PMT is upon me! Next I'll be eating half a loaf of white sliced bread.

We're not actively trying, so we don't care, right?!

frankenfanny · 07/04/2010 22:28

Babe Half a loaf of white bread probably has a lot of folic acid in it, you can tell yourself that anyway.

Better that than DH's balls on a plate, since they now actually have some use.

Hope you feel better soon.

frakkinnuts · 08/04/2010 07:20

Potentially exciting, franken, fingers crossed for you! Testing tomorrow?

How's the boob, notso? In a totally non-pervy way...

on the PMT, brassica. I know it's really hard not to be disappointed even when you're 'not really trying'. Just shag and keep shagging!

wanders off singing 'just keep shagging, just keep shagging, shagging, shagging...' à la Dory in Finding bloody Nemo

BrassicaBabe · 08/04/2010 08:57

at frank and frakkin

OOhh a live testing momoment tomorrow maybe frank

Of course, maybe hideous mood down to a last minute surprise visit/stay-over by my mother planned for today until Saturday!! Nope, def PMT. Where's my toast....

notso · 08/04/2010 10:11

Hello everyone,

Passing you some virtual toast Brassica sorry you are feeling AF symptoms.

I have two sore boobs today thanks frakkin am resisting the temptation not to test early. Lucky I don't have a spare £50 this month.

I think I'm going to have to go back on the wii fit frank, it always makes me feel gutted when my mii goes chunky when I get on it though! I am excited for you the pickles must mean something.

gormers · 08/04/2010 11:14

Thanks got the invite frakkin - hope you all don't mind some NADUTA on here ( new and don't understand the acronyms!!)

By way of intro, I'm a 30 yr old first time tryer, only really a few weeks into the whole thing so still very very early stages! However, am beginning to get right into this and love all the helpful messages on here and would love to share my ups, downs, woes and wonders with you all!

Despite being a relatively new-comer to this, I am already over-analysing every single little thing my body is doing and is it 'different'!!

30andMerkin · 08/04/2010 11:28

frakkin you joke stealer you!!

(see above, under 30 and Nemo )

Only kidding, how we all doing? Distinct dearth of shaggy action here, we're just so bloody busy. And physically tired (lots of sport going on recently). DH actually apologised last night for the lack of shagging, which after 10 years of him dry-humping my leg with enthusiasm is kind of ironic. Don't think it's the baby-making factor putting him off, in fact he was very keen the other day, but then acted like a twerp all evening, which rather put me out of the mood instead!

Welcome gormers, like the name and the invent-your-own-acronyms! Another 30 yr old first timer here. What stage of the game are you at?! (don't be shy, there's nowt we don't share here!)
