V faint line 1st month after mc - surely not?

Had v early mc (4+3) on Jan 1.

My cycle's normally 27/28 days, so when nothing happened by Thurs (CD28 if 1st day of mc was start of cycle) I tested w ebay cheapie. Nothing.

Tested this morning with FMU and a CB (not digi) and got faintest line - even DH saw it, although only just.

It can't be, though, can it? I collected the FMU in a washed out moisturiser pot (couldn't find the test, was 4am or so), is there anything in a Lush face cream that could make a pos?

And even if it's a real one - I thought I ov'd around day 14 (had EWCM, pain in right area) so shouldn't the line be stronger? Am dreading another chemical preg.

Is 'orrible - don't know whether to be pleased or petrified or what...

No AF yet, but had cramps and slightly sore norks. This is v little help because I get that before I'm pg, too.

Tested this afternoon (after drinking lots of tea) with eBay cheapie and got BFN.

Should just give up hope now, I know. But is it worth trying a CB test tomorrow or something? Would an ebay cheapie be reliable on the day AF due, but mid-afternoon?

Bumping because I'm going slightly doolally!

I would do a posh test on FMU tomorrow morning. Not worth trying today unless you wait to wee.

stillfrazzled · 30/01/2010 10:29

Thanks - and sorry, last 3 pars crept in because I copied some info from my last thread! I last tested a couple of days ago with the ebay, and then with the Clearblue this morning.

Have one CB digi left, will try tomorrow.

But can a bit of moisturiser residue in the pot make a false pos, do you think?

frazzled i would say tentative congrats are in order tbh.

A - You should have waited 4 hours between wees

B - You shouldn't have drunk copious amounts of liquid

C - Get a decent test and retest in morning

With an early early mc, ( I hate the expression chemical pregnancy, it's still a pregnancy , if it wasn't hcg wouldn't be produced, it just didn't develop!!) rant over

With early mc, the hcg levels wouldn't have been so high to roll over to this month and we all know that post mc fertility is high.

I have my fingers crossed for you.

Get a FR or a digi, money well spent imo. Good luck. Try to hols positive till tomorrow then retest.

Patsy99 · 30/01/2010 15:36

Stillfrazzled - just asked you what was happening on the other thread. This is v exciting! I doubt Lush are putting HCG in their face creams, so reason to be cheerful. Expect tomorrow morning will settle it - good luck.

stillfrazzled · 30/01/2010 20:25

Thank you!

Have just done a Tesco test (found it clearing up) and again, v faint line but v close to the ten minutes. Didn't look like an evap line, though. Will post after CB digi tomorrow.

Wish me luck!

Browsing the threads and read this one. Good luck.

MrsTriangle · 30/01/2010 23:01

crikey - you're in exactly the same position as me.

I MC'd 3rd Jan at 4+3.

cd28 today - possible evaporation line - veeeeeeeery faint and then had vanished within 15 mins.

eBay cheapies all BFN.

I'm also worried that it's a chemical pregnancy.

Perhaps we can go mad together.

I'll test in the morning and report back.

hellymelly · 30/01/2010 23:03

I had very faint lines first time too, they are now 2 and five.

NotAPollyanna · 30/01/2010 23:08

I always had very faint lines and now have three dc to show for it. Sometimes people miscarry a twin so remain pregnant or you got pregnant again straight away or it is still the levels of HCG so a tentative congratulations to you.

stillfrazzled · 31/01/2010 08:34

Just done a CB digi with FMU and it said Not Pregnant.

AFAIK if CBDigi doesn't pick it up, you're not, right? Don't know what y'day's line was.

Is my b'day today, worst present ever

OP posts:
Patsy99 · 31/01/2010 10:02

Sorry to hear that. Don't really know about accuracy of CBDigi compared to others, but don't think it's the most sensitive on the market actually.

butadream · 31/01/2010 10:05

I have always found the cheapy tests more sensitive than the digital ones although once you know you are pregnant it is tempting to then do a digital test later to see how far along you are (even though you already know!)

Sukie1971 · 31/01/2010 10:08

Id assume that just a month after MC you may still have some hormones remaining... hence the faint line initially

Sorry I cant be more encouraging, but I really hope Im wrong. Good luck

stillfrazzled · 31/01/2010 10:08

Really? I thought CBD was the last word in pg tests!

Dammit all, now I'm going to have to buy a First Response or something. What do you think is the best non-digi?

Thanks for sympathy, BTW. I need a kick up the butt though, DH being lovely and has got me some gorgeous pressies, DS being cute, we're due to go out for lunch AND dinner. Should stop feeling sorry for myself over some pee on a stick. Sigh.

stillfrazzled · 31/01/2010 10:09

Sukie, I did do tests right after the mc and they were neg, so whatever that line was, I don't think it was a hangover IYSWIM.

butadream · 31/01/2010 10:15

I find any of the paper on a stick ones work well, Superdrug own brand for example gave me a positive result before my period was due even in my first, ectopic, pregnancy when I assume I had pretty low levels of HCG.

stillfrazzled · 31/01/2010 13:28

OK, I just went out and bought a First Response - and it's positive!

Not only positive, but you can see the line really clearly - no need to squint or anything.

Looks like I may be pg after all

Gawd knows when I OV'd though, can't have been CD14 if tests only just showing up now - unless something's wrong and this one isn't sticking around either...

OP posts:
MrsTriangle · 31/01/2010 13:34

oh congratulations that's brilliant news!!!!! Hooray!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Very interesting that the digital was is so less sensitive.

I have a clear blue ordinary one which I'll use in the morning if still no AF.

I retested using ebay cheapy last night and it was neg/possibly a line there if held at a certain angle.

I am so happy for you!

ShowOfHands · 31/01/2010 13:35

Congratulations and well done and happy birthday!

You don't know when you ovulated exactly and the pain and ewcm may have been your body preparing for ovulation, not actually ovulation. Then the egg lives for a certain amount of time after release so fertilisation doesn't necessarily happen immediately. HCG rises differently in different women and in different pregnancies.

CB Digi definitely no more sensitive than many other tests and is certainly not the most sensitive test on the market. I tested positive at 8dpo with ebay cheapies. DH didn't believe it and we tried CBdigi and FR, both negative until a couple of days past af being due.

Faint lines and day of bfp are all to do with test limitations as opposed to viability of pregnancy.

I also got pg the cycle after a chemical pg and dd is 2.8 now!

Anyway, congratulations.

Chipper10 · 31/01/2010 13:35

CONGRATULATIONS and HAPPY BIRTHDAY. I was going to say I got a -ve with the digital test but +ve with First Response. Am SO pleased for you, try not to worry, though when I get my BFP I will be worrying all the way to the 20 week mark. But try to be a happy worrier .

stillfrazzled · 31/01/2010 13:37

Aw, I'm actually sniffling now. You're all so lovely.

'A happy worrier' - that's a great way to put it. I will do my best.
