Hi all, old and new, this is the thread where all moaning, pieces of tmi, discussions and virtual cups of tea and biscuits come together to keep us sane .. or at the least insane together!

OP posts:
Meita · 27/01/2010 10:04

TheKurgan so is your gynae now going to do those tests she suggested? I only had one early MC but I wasn't about to take any chances. So I started taking baby aspirin and lady's mantle tea (similar effect as progesterone cream) just for in case there was a clotting problem or progesterone deficiency that might have caused the MC. What's the point in waiting for another one before trying to find/eliminate possible causes? I do think after three CPs/early MCs I would be "bothered" too. Very much so. Hope your doc is being helpful.

Hopefully and others in WTF-cycles... although my MC in July was very early, my WTF-cycle was really strange. I only ovulated on CD29/30! Had ceased the SWI long before that, not thinking that ovulation might still happen. Regretted that much! Because I really, really wanted to get pregnant again immediately. When AF did arrive it was (at first) like MCing all over again, emotionally speaking. I think the WTF-ness of the WTF cycle is not to be underestimated... I remember apples waiting 65 days for her first post-MC AF...

Meita · 27/01/2010 10:10

Ha, I didn't think so MrsR!

I am ridiculously happy for you (and all the others too)! The other day I even told my mum on the phone... Sometimes I want to just shout to everyone "listen, hey, boodle is pregnant and so is cake and jollster and TFLS and Lee and Louise... and now MrsRigby too!" People would think I'm a total nutcase. Well, they wouldn't be very wrong, would they .

VivClicquot · 27/01/2010 10:18

Congratulations MrsR - I don't want to say, "I told you so" after you tested early earlier this week, but, well... I told you so!

MrsRigby · 27/01/2010 10:21

thekurgan I hate it when doctors downplay things and refuse to do tests. Good on you for insisting on having them done.

And if she were you, she would so be having every test on the planet.

Sodding doctors.

LucyT66 · 27/01/2010 10:41

Very big congratulations to MrsRigby. Can feel the excitement. I reckon it must be completely normal to feel a combination of elation and fear after a mc. But hopefully the fear will begin to dissipate and the elation can burst forth. Lovely. Very exciting. Keeping fingers crossed for you and the other BFPs and the rest of us who are still trying.

I think I gave you the wrong stats originally. This should be cycle 2 rather than cycle 4 (I included the two before my mc) Sorry!

TheKurgan · 27/01/2010 10:42

Meita - yes my husband and I had the blood tests then and there. I'll have to look into this Lady's Mantle tea! MrsRigsby I too thought she would definitely be having tests if she were me! I know she was trying to be reassuring but I slightly resent the implication that if I would just calm down a bit and get a hobby or something, everything would be fine.
Anyway, sorry to go on about this when everyone's buzzing about MrsRigby's excellent news. I'm really glad for everyone who has had bfps!

Effilump · 27/01/2010 10:44

thekurgan go on as much as you want, that's what we're all here for .

Thanks effilump.

DH has let me txt family and friends and it now seems a lot more real. Starting to feel happy and excited.

Now, just want to find out I'm having twins next!!!

VivClicquot · 27/01/2010 10:52

I'm suddenly starting to feel pressure being at the top of the list. I don't want to break our good run of luck...

VivClicquot · 27/01/2010 11:05

Another thought MrsR - do you think your norovirus was actually morning sickness?

LeeWT · 27/01/2010 11:19

OMG mrs rigby!!! I knew it!!!!! I wanted to say it the othe day but didn't want to jinx you!

Can you BELIEVE the amount of bfps?!?! Seriously 8 in two months.. Fertile pack we are! I hope viv is next :-)

well I am a but of a mess I'm sitting in my grandmothers house and we are basically waiting for her to let go. She has slipped into a semicoma and isn't aware of anything any more and to make things worse my alcoholic aunt is making things a nightmare. I feel so vulnerable that no one knows I'm pregnant. I'm also becasue I don't really have symptoms and despite being preg twice last yr I can't remember when I'm supposed to get them.

The only thong cheering me up is the no of bfps on this thread!!!!! Meita I actually told someone the other day and they smiled politely lol x

OP posts:
MrsRigby · 27/01/2010 11:41

Don't feel any pressure vivclicquot, enjoy being the centre of attention and at the top of the list .

If you don't get a BFP that's okay, January is almost gone and February needs it's quota - you could be the good luck charm for February.

Rest assured that someone on this thread will get a BFP in February - it's like a lottery.

I claim todays jackpot [looking at the 2 lines all morning has made me go a bit funny).

Not a chance that it was morning sickness. Never had it with the previous 2 pregnancies - I never had any symptoms, I think it's a side effect of the metformin I'm taking. No it was definitely projectile vomiting and I haven't done so again since then.

Thanks leewt I'm sorry about your gran.

I keep wanting to tell colleagues and family about you guys, but they'd just look at me like I was ... actually they do look at me like I'm insane anyway. So DH and I just email/txt each other to update each other on the thread news.

He's probably reading this whilst stuck in a boring meeting and trying not to shout aloud "stop posting so much, what are you trying to do, get this to make most active thread of the day".

Clearly I need to stop looking at these 2 First Response pink lines (technically 4 as I took 2 tests) - so I'll go out in a bit and buy some Clearblue Digital so I can stare at the words.

Would it be wrong to take the pregnancy sticks with me to work tomorrow and pull them out every 5 minutes to look at.

That Dizzie Rascal song springs to mind here ... Bonkers.

liahgen66 · 27/01/2010 11:48

omg mrsR I am so so happy for you.

huge congratulations you just made me cry. (in a nice way)

Wishing you a very boring 8 months.

We have been to clinic this morning and booked in for ERPC tomorrow, be glad when it's over and we can crack on.

Doc suggested it might keep happening as i am so old now, (43) sensitive soul that he was plenty of women my age have healthy babies every day.

Good luck viv

liahgen66 · 27/01/2010 11:52

sorry cross posts, Am very sorry about your gran lee

boodleboot · 27/01/2010 11:55

bloody hell woman....that is amazingly wonderful news mrsR...This thread has certainly picked up the pace since the new year hasn't it!

cheepz....how are you doing hun?

xx

MrsRigby · 27/01/2010 12:17

Thanks liahgen66 again bloody doctors.

Incidentally, when I was first diagnosed with PCOS a couple of months before conceiving DS, the doctor told me it would be virtually impossible to get pregnant without fertility treatment .

Of course I guess it depends on whether you count metformin as fertility treatment.

Anyway, what I'm saying is I work in a hospital as a secretary to a couple of specialist nurses and we hate doctors. They always think they know it all and they don't.

Bastard doctors (oh please don't tell me there's a poster who's a doctor ).

Thanks boodleboot.

MrsRigby · 27/01/2010 12:18

Ooh ooh, what does everyone else do for a living (you don't have to tell).

I'm a medical secretary.

liahgen66 · 27/01/2010 12:32

I'm a Doula, But i'm taking some time off now for a bit, just too stressful at the moment and I don't feel I can support ladies and families fully if i'm not in the right place emotionally myself.

so lady of leisure at mo, I have a 2 yr old at home.

thefatladyscreams · 27/01/2010 13:19

Very quickly popping in and blimey - congratulations MrsR!!!!!

That is absolutely fantastic news.

Lee- sorry to hear about your gran. Must be really tough. Take care.

Will post back properly later. Meant to be working.

Cheepz · 27/01/2010 13:32

top news mrsr its wonderful to hear you sounding so happy

am ok boods - thanks for asking - its just abit difficult....

Meita · 27/01/2010 13:41

I'm technically a PhD student. So, MrsRigby, not a doctor but hoping to one day be a Dr. albeit not of the medical flavour.
Totally understand you there liah. Sometimes there just needs to be some distance between your working life and private life. I'm supposed to be writing in an abstract sense about changing concepts of human reproduction. Tis bloody hard when for me these things are so absolutely concrete. I'm utterly failing at it. No "leisure" for me though, more of a guilt-trip for not completing work on time.
Anyway, hope everything goes ok with you the next couple of days. It's a very sad place to be in, I hope you have people supporting you.

Lee, thinking of you. Why don't you just tell your Nana? Although she's not properly conscious, she might still understand on some level and be really pleased - it might even make her letting go easier. Just a thought and could obviously be totally wrong here.
Heehee at the "smiling politely"

TheKurgan that's the nature of this thread. Good news and bad as ever real close together. Please don't feel you can't share - it is a bloody rollercoaster journey and there are highs and lows always waiting around the next corner.

SarahMumtoAlex · 27/01/2010 14:24

Fabtastic news MrsR!!! The thread is just a BFP machine at the moment. Sticky thoughts and joy for you.

theKurgan I really feel for you on the 'calm down' front. There's a recent book smile or die critcising the power of positive thinking and talking about the way it can be really oppressive to suggest that people are the authors of their own misfortune in this way. If its just 'bad luck' your stress levels have nothing to do with it.

similarly liahgen while those of us in our 40's do have more miscarriages, its complicated. The Doctors and Nurses I spoke to when I had my EPRC all said the fact that I am conceiving in the first place suggests all is well and there's no reason to think the next one won't stick.

barrenbrook · 27/01/2010 14:35

MrsR What faboolus news lady! Have everything crossed for you, a big whoop whoop from me! (and the noisy baby replacement but I'm not admitting it in RL puppy)

Liah How rude is your Dr!!! They need a kick up the proverbial arse!! I hope you suitably ignored the ignorant comment.

Lee Sorry to hear about your Nanny. I think Meita is right, perhaps you should tell her.

A big welcome to all the newbies, here's hoping this flurry of activity and BFP's means we're not all here for too long.

Have updated my stats on today's list.
