Hi!
A little about me - I'm pushing 34, have a 10 month old DD that I'm still breastfeeding and really want to conceive no.2 asap!
I am on my second cycle since AF returned and am temp / CM / CP charting using fertility friend and have OPKs!
I ovulated on day 29 of my last cycle, and am on day 21 at the moment.
Have been having fun and games with very fertile signs over the past week, so lots of BD, but no ovulation, poor DH is full of a cold and not feeling very energetic but I keep insisting that he perform until my temps go up

So anyway - hoping that there are others out there in a similar boat who can help to keep me sane and hopefully share some good news in the coming months.

Thanks all , I still can't really believe it as have been getting used to the monthly disappointments and was expecting another today.

I hope you don't mind me lurking and dropping in every now and then to say hi, and am sure that you'll all be on the grads list soon.

Also want to say that I couldn't have done it without you (and DH of course), as long term TTC is a pretty lonely business. xxx

Beveridge · 02/06/2010 22:23

Congratulations indeed SBF! Fabulous news for you, v. encouraging for the rest of us!

I have been lurking for a wee while now and have decided it is now time to throw my hat into the ring/nail my colours to the mast/any other TTC metaphor you care to use!

Currently still waiting for the arrival of my first AF since having DD a year ago. As yet there is absolutely no sign...

I'm 37 and although I like the idea that my body probably knows best when I should have another baby and i should just leave it to mother nature , I would like to speed the process up a little just in case it's a lot harder than it was TTC DD 2 years ago (got BFP on my second cycle).

So we've been encouraging DD to sleep through the night this week(or at least have no midnight snacks), DH has been on night duty and it's been surprisingly successful - only minimal 1am dramas!

Though I am under no illusion that this will last, I'm sure teeth or something else will scupper it before too much longer, but hey ho!

DitaVonCheese · 02/06/2010 23:16

Welcome Beveridge and good luck

I am at a family wedding on Saturday and trying to decide whether to test on Saturday morning so that I can drown my sorrows if it's a BFN. I think I'll be around 10DPO - is that too early? Possibly. Perhaps I should just fake drink so everyone doesn't just assume I'm pg anyway. Pah.

smallblackflowers · 03/06/2010 08:39

Welcome Beveridge

dita I did a sneaky test at 10 DPO and it was negative. Looking at my chart, it seems that my implantation didn't happen until 10DPO, so obv too early for any HGC to show on a test. What I'm trying to say is don't think its all over if you get a BFN at 10DPO. Good luck

DitaVonCheese · 03/06/2010 09:13

Cheers sbf I think I'm probably going to have to fake-drink, though I'm feeling crampy today so could be AF gearing up. Would rather she showed up before Saturday if she's coming, though would mean a very short LP this month

missjackson · 03/06/2010 17:47

Damn, just tested, 13 dpo (or perhaps 12) and got a BFN ... of course there is still a small glimmer of hope which is just silly, which is why I should not have tested early! Really was trying to wait until after the weekend... but felt so crappy today, just thought I would get it over with. Of course crappy feelings are probably pms!

Am now having an early glass of white!

At least I am thinking LP is better this time around. Dita sorry to hear you feel like AF also on the way. Like you say, at least if it comes before Sat you can enjoy a drink at the wedding.

Welcome beveridge, fab name! Night weaning sounds like it is going well. I didn't get af back until DS was 11 months and that's only because I went back to work full-time (for a short contract, back to being full time sahm now) I think.

QueenFee · 03/06/2010 19:04

congrats sbf! So pleased for you. I did yet another test today and it was neg but still no af so hard to know where I am in my cycle. I did think I saw a small evap line but i'm thinking it's prob my mind playing tricks on me. I do regularly still lurk and it's comforting to hear from others in the same position.

Beveridge · 03/06/2010 21:39

Thanks for the welcome!

DD struggled to get off to sleep tonight, was chewing and drooling on my shoulder so I think my prophecy about more teeth has come to pass. Tonight could be interesting...

Sorry to hear about the neg tests, missjackson and QueenFee. Fingers crossed Dita.

DitaVonCheese · 03/06/2010 22:02

Thanks beveridge

missjackson fingers crossed it's just too early.

QueenFee hope you get some answers soon, and a BFP of course

coconutfeet · 05/06/2010 08:17

Welcome Beveridge!

Any news Missjackson, Queenfee, Dita?

Well I don't know if it's the agnus castus, acupuncture or EPO but I got a peak on my fertility monitor this morning which is day 14, a couple of days earlier than usual. I'm pretty sure that the EPO is responsible for the increase in EWCM this month. I'm feeling optimistic. Even if this isn't our month, I feel like things are moving in the right direction. Just need to see whether I have a good, clear temp rise after ovulation this month. Then I'll know that cutting down on the daytime feeds has made a difference.

SBF - You were taking Black Cohosh weren't you? The Infertility Cure recommended it to me too but I was a bit nervous about taking it as I've googled and it says it's not OK with breastfeeding. What dose were you taking?

Enjoy the sun everyone!

smallblackflowers · 05/06/2010 08:24

coconutfeet your signs sound promising!
Re the black cohosh, I was taking it in liquid form (from H&B), 1 ml per day, post ovulation. I took it first thing, and was only feeding DD at bedtime.
I've stopped controlling my feeds so much now though and am back on 2 per day.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 05/06/2010 08:45

sbf - congratulations!

Good luck Dita, fingers are crossed for you!

Last time I posted I was on a 2WW, which came to nothing in that AF arrived, but it was sooo light. Didnt' think anything of it, but I feel quite crampy and sick this morning. I have got a strange feeling of pressure in my pelvis which I remember from the early days of being pg with DS.
Have missed first wee of the morning but I'm going to test next time I go because if I am pg then I'm 6 weeks which ought to show up at any time of the day!

smallblackflowers · 05/06/2010 12:03

fingers crossed alibaba let us know how you get on!

OP posts:
missjackson · 05/06/2010 23:08

oooh how exciting alibaba! Fingers crossed for you.

Well, AF turned up in the early hours of last night, but not too sad as I expected as much, and actually really positive that finally I seem to have had a 'normal' cycle - 31 days, with o around day 16-17 so nice long LP too. Also, next cycle DH will be around during the critical time, so we've got a bit more chance I hope!

So all set to go for next cycle... am enjoying a big glass of white wine to steel myself for yet another month of waiting... it does seem like a long time, doesn't it?

I think it's a very good and lucky sign that our thread starter lbf managed to get a BFP. Let's hang in there together!

DitaVonCheese · 06/06/2010 21:27

Hello all!

coconutfeet that sounds really promising. Is there a MN equivalent/less naff version of chucking baby dust around?

missjackson sorry AF showed up but again that does all sound very promising. Hope next month is a better one for you.

alibaba can't believe you've left us hanging! Hopefully you're too busy being excited about your BFP to get to a computer

I tested on Saturday morning and got a not entirely unexpected BFN. I planned just to have a glass of bubbly during the toasts at the wedding but due to the stresses of the weekend ended up getting royally pissed slightly squiffy, hoping that sod's law would mean I was pg but just to early to test. I'm expecting AF round about Tuesday so will try not to test until Wednesday if she's a no-show - the fact I'm down to my last two cheapie tests out of an originaly 20-odd is helping steel my resolve I don't feel remotely pg though so not particularly optimistic about our chances this month.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 06/06/2010 23:38

Hello everyone, sorry to keep you all in limbo! It was a BFN.

But, it was a middle of the day wee and I swear it is wrong. I can smell everything, and I mean everything. I have metallic tastes in my mouth and I'm sleepy.
I totally forgot to test first thing this morning, so going to try desperately to remember in the morning - if it says no this time I will believe it, but wonder WFT my body is playing at

Where can I get cheap tests from? I've only got a pack of Clearblue and at £20 a pop I'm not keen to burn through them!

DitaVonCheese · 07/06/2010 00:03

Ali I know plenty of people who haven't got a +ive for a week or more after a missed period but now have beautiful babies, so here's hoping you're experiencing the same thing. I got my cheapo tests off ebay or Access Diagnostics is the other one. Think ebay is prob faster/cheaper though. Good luck!

DitaVonCheese · 07/06/2010 00:04

Just read my penultimate post and ing about my typos!

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 07/06/2010 09:38

Morning everyone

Well it's a BFN again. I really am a bit confused because I feel queasy this morning, really struggling with breakfast.
Bah maybe my brain is just manufacturing symptoms for me.

Going to try and forget about it for a few days and see how things progress!

Dita - good luck for testing on Wednesday!

trotters · 07/06/2010 23:17

Hello, trying to get pregnant, still breastfeeding but reduced to one feed per night only, not had a period since Jan 08...what to do????Oh yes im 39 and im not doing so well on abreviations please help me get upto speed someone.

DitaVonCheese · 08/06/2010 00:05

Welcome trotters. Do you have a son (DS - "dear son") or daughter (DD - "dear daughter" - you get the idea!)? How old is he or she? I think the average for periods returning is 14 months or so. Are you still feeding a lot during the day?

There's a link to an acronym list at the top of the page, just under the ovulation calculator, or click here

Ali sorry it's another BFN - I was so sure I would come back to read about your BFP. Hope you get some answers soon.

Can't remember whether I mentioned that I am currently sleeping on the floor (on DD's cot mattress) in an effort to cut down on night feeds. It's actually going surprisingly well We've definitely had fewer wake-ups and the last time we were in bed at home (we've just come back from a weekend away) she only woke up once and DH settled her. Weekend was tits-up as expected. Last night she slept from 8 pm ish to 7 am ish for the first time in her life ever She has just woken up a bit and asked for bo-bo (water) rather than bee-bee (boob) so hopefully we can slowly wind the feeds down, unless of course I've just massively jinxed myself

DitaVonCheese · 08/06/2010 17:13

Actually, I can probably work out some info about you trotters from my own dates I'm guessing your baby is about 19-20 months? My daughter is 20 months and my periods returned just before she turned one, which corresponded with me (temporarily as it happens) going back to work part-time, which meant that obviously I wasn't feeding during the day then, but it's taken until now for my cycles to settle down (and they still haven't completely).

I am knicker-checking like a lunatic.

Meggiemo · 08/06/2010 17:37

Hi everyone, could I ask a question please - DS is now 13 mths and AF returned in Dec 09. So far has been 48, 41 and 30 days until now when she hasn't appeared at all am on day 50. Definately not pregnant. Is this normal to be so erratic? Last month I got really excited that everything seemed to be getting back to normal. Still on 2 feeds - in morning and at bedtime. Many thanks.

coconutfeet · 08/06/2010 19:22

Welcome Trotters and Meggiemo.

Sorry about all the BFNs.

Meggiemo - my periods came back when my ds was around 9 months old and were regular from the first month, but I think some of the others on here had very long cycles at first and they took a while to settle down.

Congratulations on your dd sleeping through Dita! It's bloody great when that starts to happen. My ds has very recently started sleeping through, having been an absolute shocker till 19 months. It's taken me a while to actually sleep all the way through though.

I'm confused - had a peak on my monitor and a huge temp dip, then my temp has started to go up, so I think I must have ovulated. But I still had some EWCM this morning. Anyone know if that's normal?

DitaVonCheese · 08/06/2010 20:39

I am still having longish cycles (depending on when AF shows up this month, this may be my shortest so far - on CDX at the moment). Like you Meggiemo, I went down from 40 days to 35 at one stage and believed they were going back to normal, but then they increased again the next month From what I've read, different women seem to have different sensitivities to the various hormones involved and no one really seems to know much about what governs fertility!

coconutfeet Yes, I am still waking up several times a night She did wake a few times last night, so not sure we can count it as sleeping through quite yet, but DH managed to settle her each time.

What CD are you on? EWCM was one of my earliest pg symptoms last time, but this time round I seem to have had it every single month just before AF arrives

Still no sign of AF here. I have been having hot flushes over the last possible days, which could be a symptom according to the internet but (1) anything can be a pg symptom according to the internet and (2) it's due to hormone fluctuations, and I think if I've just cut out nightfeeds then this could also cause my hormones to fluctuate
