Actually now I feel guilty using up the last post of the thread - hope this will do as a continuation

OP posts:
hippychick66 · 09/02/2010 19:42

Thanks frostie for the advise re: thrush. It's soo much better already but I'll bear that stuff in mind.

TFLS It's not suprising that you're feeling worried, all I can say is - this is a different egg and a different sperm and a whole different embryo. This time everything could so easily go right. There was obviously a reason why it happened before and something probably wasn't right - but that does NOT mean the same will happen again.

Please keep posting to let us know that you're ok. I cannot imagine how awful it was for you before but please try to stay positive - [hippy puts her arms around tfls] . ps. Is it worth trying to get an early scan if you really think your symptoms are fading?

rowingboat · 09/02/2010 21:42

Hi all,
TFLS now you take it easy, or we will be round with the chamomile tea and a rope (to tie you to the sofa). Can you take a fake sickie and watch films all day?
I agree with Hippy if you feel worried about the symptoms, perhaps you could see the GP and get a referral for a scan.

Happy birthday Frosticle. You look absolutely gorgeous so don't worry about it.
What are you/did you do for your birthday?

Dechen preseed I have tried it, very expensive I have heard good things, but can't add much to the research you have probably done already. Why are you looking at progesterone cream, have you had yours checked, do you suspect it is low?

rowingboat · 09/02/2010 21:52

I meant to say, I have decided to go stay a few days for my nan's funeral, but I should be back in time to do the FET.
If AF arrives on time then day 7 will be the day of the funeral and the hospital have said I would probably start being scanned and having blood taken on day 10 so it should be OK.

Frosticle · 09/02/2010 21:58

Thanks tfls and tetley - interesting article and yep, I like the comparison with teenagers too. Hehe!

My greatgrandmother was 43 when she gave birth to my great-aunt - the last of her 9 (or was it 8?) children - and in that era having children in your 40s was not deemed unusual. My great aunt will be 87 next month and has proved healthiest - and best-looking of all the children. She's still an incredibly stylish and good-looking woman with amazing energy and youthful outlook. As the product of an "old" mother she's a great advert for it!

tfls - were you skiving? LOL!!

KiwiKat · 09/02/2010 23:33

Evening all! Am sneaking on for a very quick hello before bed, and had a very quick scan through your news. Sounds like most of you are doing well - TFLS, sending you a hug, and one to Rowing for your nan's funeral.
Hopeful45, I didn't understand half of what you asked, but here goes: I'm on Microgynon, which I'm pretty sure is a birth control pill, this is our first round of IVF, and the Pregnyl I have in my fridge is Gonal. I'll find out about all the other stuff and get back to you when I can. Am off to sleep on the couch, as dh's snoring is shaking the foundations. Sweet dreams, all.

rowingboat · 09/02/2010 23:44

Kiwi I sleep on the sofa all the time. No wonder I don't have another DC.
I get a bit freaked-out by the darkness of the bedroom, when my ears start making noises.
How are you feeling with the hormones?

gumblossom · 10/02/2010 04:14

Hi girls. So much to catch up on! tfls I remember feeling just like you are with my last pregnancy - I felt my symptoms wan and would worry, but it all turned out fine. Try to relax, and drink plenty of water(that's the advice I was always given, re:miscarriage, I have no idea how it helps...)

We had a fabulous weekend away.Came home feeling very relaxed.Even managed some shagging; however, I don't feel the time was right for baby-making, but I'm not fussed. My eggs will come back soon, I'm sure, as Charlie is close to 18 months, so it can't be too much longer!

I've stopped temping and it has really lessened my anxiety. It was just too confusing with the broken sleep, and breastfeeding. When things are easier I might get back to it.

ILGH are you around? How are you?

Well, it is a hot day, so I'm going to get off the computer and have a nice long cool drink!

thefatladyscreams · 10/02/2010 21:02

Dear all - thanks for all the kind and reassuring comments You guys are great. It doesn't help that this Friday would have been my due date for my last pregnancy - so a bit of poignant time. We haven't told anyone in RL so I really do appreciate your help. The nausea returned this afternoon - whilst I was trying to park in a chaotic rushhour - typical! But boy was I pleased to feel it!

Gum - glad you had a great weekend - it sounds like just what was needed. It has started snowing here again - will think of you baking away!

Kiwi - my DH is a snorer but I'm far crueller than you. My motto is Polluter Pays - so off he goes

Rowing - hummmm do like the TV idea! Have your ears cleared up yet? From memory your GP was getting you a referral?

Hippy - how's things with you? My GP said to get a scan at week 10 (I'm at 7 at the moment). Keep putting arranging it in the things to do tomorrow box!

Frosticle - love the story!

SilverStuddedBlue · 10/02/2010 22:16

Hi everyone. I was talking to a friend at work today, it's her birthday and she's (only) 44. She said "Who gave us permission to be this old? Where have my 20s and 30s gone?" Don't know 'bout you, but I don't feel old. But someone tell my ovaries that, please!

hopeful45 · 11/02/2010 07:49

Hello all,

TFLS - Congratulations!!!...early days or not

Frosticle - Happy Birthday! You have caught up to me--ha, ha, Not to worry, I will pull ahead again when I turn 46 in March (yikes!)

KiwiKat - Thanks for the quick update. Have you figured out what the Centrodide is yet? Also, do you take any injections with LH in them later on in your stimming cycle or just the FSH (Pregnyl)only? What dose of Pregnyl are you taking? Hope I've made myself clearer. Looks like you haven't had as much fertility testing as me

Dechen - Hope things are looking up.

Bye all!

Dechen · 11/02/2010 14:00

My progesterone was ok 5 years ago but I have no idea what it is like now. But I am thinking it will be on the low side now.
I do not really want to ask the doc for another progesterone test though.

Dechen · 11/02/2010 14:12

TFLS That is a great article.
Very interesting.

I think I have calmed down somewhat. I am past the ... 'It's not fair' stage.

I have so much to be grateful for. I just need to chill. If it happens it happens if not then I still have what I have now.

Thanks for everyones patience.

randomimposter · 11/02/2010 21:02

ILoveGregoryHouse · 12/02/2010 07:42

Hi All, been busy looking for new house and just about to sign a lease for a new one so not been posting much. Been lurking though. Love that BBC article.

Am now 6 dpo. Am refusing to symptom spot BUT have a question for gumblossom. I've been charting this month on fertility friend. My temps in the first half of the cycle were high, only dropping on day 9 (maybe I had a cold or mild infection?). I then had a dip on day 13 and they have risen significantly and stayed at roughly the same level (98.8) since day14. Unfortunately, fertility friend has not detected ovulation because the current average is lower than the average in the first half, I think. This is all conjecture of course so I wondered if you'd ever seen the same sort of pattern. I've used the manual override to enter ovulation on day14 - I could see the pattern even if the computer couldn't!

Sorry for ramble folks.

I also had acupuncture a couple of days ago and my Yang was "deep" and "hollow" whatever that means. Probably that I've been a miserable cow for too long and need to lighten up a bit. I do feel much more sunny since the treatment though.

fatlady hope all is well and you are feeling better. Understandable to wobble - too many things happening at once. Have a and a (()).

hairytriangle · 12/02/2010 08:55

Hello, just had to share tht for the first time ever I have detected a LH surge using a boots ovulation tester, very strong pink line in test box (knew this as have incredibly sensitive nips) - done it the last three months and nothing (probably mis-timed) so at least its double assurance from what the doc told me ie: my hormones work properly

hairytriangle · 12/02/2010 08:56

Frosticle: for thrush, I've used all sorts, but the very, very best is dipping a tampon in some natural live yoghurt, inserting in the evening and leaving it theretil morning- never fails for me!

hairytriangle · 12/02/2010 08:56

woops. sorry post above was for hippiechick

hippychick66 · 12/02/2010 14:58

Started bleeding a couple of days ago and went for scan today. No heatbeat, they think it stopped at about 8 weeks.

Please don't let this scare you. I'm told it's rare - despite so many on this site.

Dh has gone to get our boys from school. The worst part in all this is telling them.

Large glass of wine for Hippy please. I am feeling heartbroken at the moment but I guess it just wasn't right somewhere along the line.

Take care ladies, I'll check in on you again.

thefatladyscreams · 12/02/2010 15:11

Oh hippy - my heart breaks for you. I had a mmc last year - started spotting at 10 weeks and found out the baby had died at 7 weeks.

Sending you a very large bottle of wine and huge hugs. We're all here for you. Take really good care of yourself. xxx

hairytriangle · 12/02/2010 16:21

hippy so very sorry. x

ILoveGregoryHouse · 12/02/2010 16:27

Oh no hippie I'm so very very sorry for you and your family. Please take a (()) from me.

ALFIEMAC · 12/02/2010 16:40

Oh no Hippy feel as if I have only just got to "know" you so to speak but you gave me such hope falling pregnant naturally at about the same age as myself.
The same thing happened to me last year although in our case it was following on from an FET so earlier days than you. My heart bleeds for you as such a cruel hard blow and I remember I still had all the horrible side effects of being pregnant for quite some time when technically I wasn't.
Yes, a large glass of wine is definitely in order.

hippychick66 · 12/02/2010 17:34

TFLS What did you do about getting the baby etc. to expel. We went to the emergency gynae section of the hospital today waited for 2 hours and were then told the doctor would be another 1 hour It is very hard to sit and not cry for 2 hours!!! We eventually had to leave without seeing anyone cos we had to pick up the boys. I have re-scheduled for monday morning. They said it might miscarry over the week-end cos I am already getting cramps. Must confess I'm scared (I've done labour twice but this never before - or again I bloody hope!)

My instinct is to go for a D&C - seems more controlled. Any advise from anyone???

Still can't believe this has happened. DH was so positive all would be ok but as soon as I got the cramps I just knew.

DS's were very upset when we told them but the first thing they asked was, "will you try again?" I guess we will - but it all seems a long way off right now.

I wanted this one

thefatladyscreams · 12/02/2010 18:06

Hippy

I started to spot slightly on the Wednesday, then some red blood on the Thursday. Friday morning I went to our EPAU and had a scan which told me the worst. I opted for the natural route - and actually miscarried that afternoon. Was painful for a couple of hours but managable with over the counter painkillers. I alternated paracetemol with ibroprufen. Sorry if this is all too much detail but I desperately wanted to know what to expect.

Again, horribly practical, but it's probably worth getting in sanitary towels in case it does start at the weekend.

Feel so wretched writing this to you and really do apologise if it's too much info - I just remember being desperate to know what to expect.

I've no experience of a D&C but there are sadly quite a few threads on the miscarriage site where this is debated and you may find some more knowledgeable info.

So for you and your family. Please don't worry about your boys too much - I'm sure they bounce back at that age quickly. Will be thinking of you and if I can answer anything please do let me know.
