Hi again

Can someone add me onto the list, please, not sure how to do it or what order it goes in!

Frosticle, not sure what your situatin is but happy to talk about egg donation anytime if you want to.

All the best.

rowingboat · 17/01/2010 00:32

Hi all,
TFLS you poor thing, have a hoooge hug and one for your doggy as well. Are you feeling a bit better now, able to inhale without coughing your head off?

Gum I had a quick look at your photos and agree you look very young and full of health. Your daughter is gorgeous and your teeny boy.
I do admire your tenacity at TTC, I'm such a lump, all that FFing and stuff just makes me feel tired.

Hippy so far so good, how are you feeling?

ILGH how's things? Did you have another appointment to see about the LP?

Tetley are you home now? How is the weather where you are?

Hairy I went to the docs after TTC for a few months and exaggerated the length of time, I think I said it had been a year. The GP was great and referred me immediately to the endocrine and infertility dept. at the local hossy. The infertility dept replied fairly quickly and I think gave us a date something like three or four months away. In the interim the GP performed the day three blood tests and the day 21 blood tests and the GP also discussed the results with me when they were returned so it was nice not to be in the dark. There were no charges from the GP for the tests.
The hospital went over the results said they were fine and sent me for an HSG where they discovered I had a blocked tube, and probably damage to the other. We were then referred for IVF. We are self-funding and have had two rounds so far with no success, but still have five frozen embryos so will be returning for those in the next few months.
I hope that helps a bit, but please feel free to ask any questions.
Greyhound welcome to the thread. We are considering donor embryos if our frozen embies don't take, so I can appreciate what you are dealing with.
Welcome to the thread all the new people

My news is we are ten days from AF which is when we phone the clinic to start the FET (Frozen Embryo Transfer) procedure and of course pay them vast sums of money. Grr!
Oh well you can't take it with you.
My GP has referred me for the ear thing, can't remember if I mentioned that. I think there is something below my ear which is causing the trouble, I felt a tiny lump there during the Summer and googled it, and it said swollen lymph nodes following an infection. It could be that again. Oh I don't know. We will see.

hairytriangle · 17/01/2010 01:08

Thanks Rowingboat. I'm guessing I first need to ask the doc for the hormone tests to check I'm ovulating etc, then I'd want to go to the next stage fairly urgently if they said that was all fine.

I would probably go private for any further investigation - can I get a private HSG test if my GP will refer me to a private clinic? (if I need it that is).

I am just uber conscious that age is not on my side, and I don't have a year to waste!

Is it ok to go to doctor and get the first lot of tests done (re: ovulation) and then ask doc to refer me straight to private?

ILoveGregoryHouse · 17/01/2010 05:06

Hi hairytriangle (your name made me laugh, thanks).

I would exaggerate your ttc time to at least 6 months. You'll get bloods at Day3 and Day21, Day 21 is the most telling for progesterone levels. I suspected I had a short luteal phase and started taking Solgar Herbal Female supplement which has agnus castus and dong quai in it. My progesterone levels were good on Day 21 but not sure if that was because of the supplement iyswim.

rowing all bloods were good. Am now on my 2ww but will avoid early testing after the last terrible disappointment. I was very naughty and went straight back on the ttc bus after the 4+4 emc last month. If it doesn't work this month am off the bus til March.

In the meantime, looking forward to my trip back to the UK with DH (mum and dad are looking after the boys here). Am dreaming about John Lewis, it's fab and I reckon I'll spend all day there. DH can sit in the cafe.

morning all - hope all well. Been up at this obscene hour for a while with DS (who I have just put some pics of on my profile)... it reminds me of my commuting days! Am just counting off days at the moment, am 5+2 today, so it seems a LONG way away to get to scan stage...

ILGH good to hear you are in a good place after your emc - good on ya getting right on with it. Have all crossed for you. You made me smile with your JLP longing - we obviously have an affinity!

Italian I have no personal experience of what you are going through, but hope this might be a story of optimism. The mum I spend most time with currently (DSs are same age and buddies), is now 18 weeks pregnant with her second donor IVF baby. She's older than you by a few years I would say. Best of luck.

TFLS so sorry about your dog... hope it's not as bad as it sounds. Pet stories make me cry more than anything...

Got to dash, DS now bored with playing with the kitchen pans.... looks like another rendition of asquashandasqueeze.... hurrah

ILoveGregoryHouse · 17/01/2010 06:43

Jollster, he's lovely. And so is your kitchen .

hairytriangle · 17/01/2010 09:58

Thanks so much everyone.

My hairy triangle is actually on my back LOL (although I do have a more traditional one) - but it makes me laugh too!

x

Missy8c · 17/01/2010 10:00

Lovely pics guys...and what young looking 40 somethings we all are ;)
I'll try to add a couple of pics today if I can work out how to do it! lol

Missy8c · 17/01/2010 10:08

Yayyyy! Done it

KiwiKat · 17/01/2010 12:46

Anyone seen the story today of the 59 year old who is the oldest woman to be offered IVF? Already has a 2 year old daughter from IVF in Russia. I have renewed hope! story here

ILoveGregoryHouse · 17/01/2010 17:42

Ladies, please lookat this thread I started. Trying to get the ball rolling.

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/in_the_news/895839-Adam-Jones-taken-from-his-mum-Please-help

Italiangreyhound · 17/01/2010 21:37

Have sighed the petition. What a sad case.

Hi rowingboat hope that the FET goes well. Let's hope you don't have to go for donor eggs but if you do feel free to ask me anything about it.

thefatladyscreams hope the dog is OK. Amazing how special pets can become. Hope you get rid of your chest infection.

Hairytriangle is it worth getting dh/dp to get checked as well for a sa or did you want to wait until you had been checked out first? I think you are right to check it all out but four months is not long. Lots of people do conceive naturally at ages older than you so hope you will not need any help but agree best to get it checked out.

jollster thanks for the positive story, it is so good to hear.

hopeful45 thanks for adding me to the list.

My hubby says he thinks I am addicted to mumsnet!!!

All the best to all.

Frosticle · 18/01/2010 00:14

jollster- DS is VERY cute!! i liked your pom-poms too.

Italian - thank you for the offer re chat/advice about donor eggs. I'm going to speak to DP and see if its something he would consider. I always said I wouldn't but now I'm thinking maybe I would.

Missy8c - I couldn't view your profile/photos. Have you made your profile public?

I have added a couple of photos to my profile. At least I think I have.

ILoveGregoryHouse · 18/01/2010 05:33

Ooh ooh Frosticle, just seen your job (nice photos by the way, you are very glam).

I am horribly bored and that's one of the things I was thinking about trying to do from home. My fried has just set an executive search co. here and wants me to work for here but tbh I'd rather work for a bigger name. Is it possible to do mostly from home or am I kidding myself? Need to think it through before I start approaching the big London firms. I was in investment banking/asset management HR in my old life.

greyhound thanks for signing. It is heartbreaking. The pictures you see of her then and now are so telling - she's suffering so much and is still in Qatar while her husband and daughter are here in Bharain. She doesn't want to leave in case she can't get back there. Just inhuman.

gumblossom · 18/01/2010 09:46

Goegeous pics everyone. Frosty - you are very glam! And so young looking.Everyone has gorgeous kids, no wonder we want to add on!

Bloody sweltering hot day here - 41 degrees celcius. It's been a long day, and DS 16months has been really out of sorts, and so have I. My nipples are sensitive, he's teething and keeps biting, I'm irritable, it's hot, I've a headache...!
Thankfully DH has taken pity on me and taken all the kids to the beach so I could lie down - and the sea breeze is in, so things are now much better!
My temp was lower this a.m so I'm not so sure that FF is right about me O-ing.If I get AF in a couple of weeks, I'll believe it(alternatively I'll take a positive preg test!)

Missy8c · 18/01/2010 18:18

Frosticle...thanks for that. Yes I had hidden my profile it seems! Doh! Nice photos by the way

Italiangreyhound · 19/01/2010 02:03

Missy8c I love the ?angel? photo on your profile

Does anyone know how you get back to the main mumsnet page from the profiles? I always have to re-type the mumsnet.com but I am still logged in! Sorry, technophob!

hairytriangle · 19/01/2010 08:25

Hi again, I went to doc last night and she was lovely - NHS wouldn't see me til 12 months TTC (even though I'm almost 42!) but she said there's no harm in doing the blood tests (2 day and 21 day) so I'm booked in next Thursday for the first tests and get the results the following Thursday !

Feels good to be on the path of 'finding out how my body is doing' - felt weird telling doc I am TTC after so many years trying not TC!!!
Weird but lovely

hairytriangle · 19/01/2010 08:26

Hopeful 45 - thanks for adding me to the list! x

thefatladyscreams · 19/01/2010 14:39

Hi all

Thanks for the comments re fido. He's had his op this morning and I'm due to pick him up late this afternoon. Maybe I'm not cut out to have kids - I was a wreak. Don't know how parents cope if they have to take their children to hospital!

Blimey Gum - can't imagine 41 degrees at the moment. They are predicting more snow for us tomorrow. I'd be grouchy in that heat.

Rowing - I'm feeling much better thanks. Good news re the referral for your ear - it has been such a long time. Have you decided when to go for the transfer again? I think from memory you were trying to feel well first?

ILGH - I used to work in HR in investment banking many moons ago! Not sure how much you can be home based in head hunting. I guess you would need to be out interviewing in the evenings unless you fancy the research side of it?

Welcome hairytriangle - lovely to have someone else TTC #1 on here. I'm 41, been trying for a year with 1 m/c so far. My acupuncturist said a regular 28 day cycle was a good sign - so . Love the name!

Talking of names, Italiangreyhound - I have this image of you as an incredibly sleak, chic hound! Just been off googling pictures of them - lovely!

On day 28 here and caved in earlier and POAS - BFN! Temperature hasn't dipped yet but expecting AF any day now. Hey ho.

spiralqueen · 19/01/2010 16:31

Hi all

Completely out of the loop for a while. The real old timers on the thread might remember my analogy of ttc in your 40s:

It feels like we discovered this really great shop and bought something fantastic and now we've gone back to get something else and they've let us in to look at what's on offer but have pointed out that they're trying to close and we don't know if we can get to the till in time.

Saw the consultant this morning for the results of the last round of tests. DH is back firing on all cylinders but my AMH came back at 0.7 which basically means we didn't get to the till in time and the shutters are coming down.

IVF non-starter, IUI less than 5% chance of success. Only options egg donation or adopting toddler. Consultant made egg donation sound a doddle (if way beyond our financial means) with a 40-50% success rate but I'm sure it's not that simple.

Will hopefully catch up with the thread shortly. Hope everyone's fine and that Hippy is still hanging in there.

(For people who don't know me I'm 46 (47 next month) ttc #2. DD was conceived entirely naturally - and unexpectedly - and was born 2 months before my 45th birthday)

hippychick66 · 19/01/2010 20:55

Hi Spiral Thanks for thinking of me, yes still hanging in there, over 8 weeks now (with no bleeding or pain - so all good). Assume all good unless I tell you otherwise.

Loved your image of the shop - very clever.

Greyhound Are you all sleek and elegant then? It is funny how we imagine people based on their names. For example - I don't wear flowers in my hair and long flowing skirts - I hardly look like a hippy at all!!

KiwiKat · 19/01/2010 23:04

Lovely to see you again, Spiral. How's everyone else doing?
