Welcome everyone from the old 'Mid 30s and TTC for the first time' thread. And welcome newbies too. Don't mind the poster in the corner dipping pregnancy test sticks into her glass of gin.

no no it was my mum she did it!!

VeryAnnieGertie · 29/06/2009 15:23

Morning all! - trig so sorry to hear your news, hope you are as upbeat as your wonderful posts make me feel, ski, fingers crossed for you matey.

Am in a dreadful mood, yet again, and now have a painful crush on Bradley Whitford, and a severe dislike for any actress who gets to snog him (barring Janel and his wife - sadly apparently soon-to-be-ex). Is it wrong to lust so much outside one's happy marriage? And why is there no aircon in this office? I'm sticking to my desk, here!

VeryAnnieGertie · 29/06/2009 15:44

TMI?

laurielou · 29/06/2009 16:13

TMI??No such thing, & a thousand lashings for using the term.

We have air con here - HURRAH - but my nips are like bullets in my thin summery top.

And trust me, there's no-one THAT exciting working here.....

SkaterGrrrrl · 29/06/2009 16:27

I heart Bradley Whitford. He is on "the list".

Although if I had to shag someone from the West Wing, Charlie would also do.

OP posts:
VeryAnnieGertie · 29/06/2009 16:31

Phew!

VeryAnnieGertie · 29/06/2009 16:34

My "list" is somewhat crowded . This is normal after 3 years of marriage, isn't it? Just watching Studio 60 after a West Wing marathon (before 27 December 2008 had not seen a single episode, now have watched all 7 series, and series 1-3 again, plus series 1 secretly when DH is out....

Studio 60 is good, but it's no WW - and I have to yell at the telly every night when DT snogs that bitch other character.

VeryAnnieGertie · 29/06/2009 16:40

In the interests of full (obsessional) disclosure, other MNetters are also obsessed over Toby. Now, he isn't on my "list" but I do adore him - when he smiles it is like the sun coming out. Ditto Leo.

These are real people, right?

PLEASE DO NOT SHATTER MY ILLUSIONS - THEY ARE THE ONLY THING KEEPING ME GOING....

SkaterGrrrrl · 29/06/2009 17:04

My list is Bradley and Thierry Henry.

SkaterBoy's list is Kate Beckensall and Megan Fox.

Mariella Frostrup is on both of our lists.

OP posts:
SkaterGrrrrl · 29/06/2009 17:05

VAG dear, I have wathed all seasons of the West Wing twice and cried real tears for Leo and want to be CJ when I grow up.

OP posts:
SkaterGrrrrl · 29/06/2009 17:07

Um... watched.

My god I've just slept for 2 hours straight (on the sofa, not at work - I was sent home when I told boss what had happened over the weekend with a flea in my ear about coming in in the first place. yey public sector). The rain woke me up - huge tropical storm. We only live about a mile as the crow flies from Wimbledon so they have it to look forward to I reckon...

Excited that we have started a list. I have a lot of weird crushes, but first I have to mop out the conservatory after I left the doors open whilst I was asleep and now I have to get rid of all the water

VeryAnnieGertie · 29/06/2009 17:22

SkaterGrrrrrrrrrrrrrl, I thought we were allowed 5 on our list? If you aren't using your other two spots, can I have them?

trog, crapweasel, I knew I should have left for home already. Though getting soaked sounds like a nice option after a day without aircon...

VeryAnnieGertie · 29/06/2009 17:44

The A-List

(in no particular order)

Bradley Whitford
John C McGinley (Dr Cox from Scrubs)
George Clooney (predictable, I know - but gets a special mention for bein' a Dapper Dan man and Rosie's nephew)
William Peterson (talk to me about bugs, baby)
Brendan Fraser

The If-I-Could-Turn-Back-Time-List

Elvis Presley (68 Comeback Special leathers, please)
Cary Grant (yes, I know the casting-couch rumours, and I don't care)
Timothy Dalton (as Mr Rochester)
Richard Burton (that voice)
Cary Elwes (in black leather too - ooh I sense a theme)

Right - off home now to see actual, real life lover

triggerhappybaby · 29/06/2009 17:54

eeeeeeeeeeeeeee a time travel list!!

  1. Adam Ant
  2. Brett Anderson
  3. Marlon Brando
Mrsvandam · 29/06/2009 18:03

Right, I think it's time I owned up. I have been stalking you ladies. For weeks.

I haven't had gin in years but have been experimenting with rum (with a sprig of mint). My first love is red wine (white is acceptable but not rose) and I continue to drink it by the gallon load. To the extent that DH almost toppled over when he took all the empties to be recycled (the car almost collapsed under the strain too).

I must confess that I have been through this whole palaver before- I have one dd is 4. So if you want to know about piles or stitches I'm your woman. I'm not far off the age of doom and already visualise my eggs slowly dying as we speak. However, my best friend is the grand old age of 36 and is pregnant. I cling onto this.

Oh and I have no idea how to do all this fancy bold and italics font. I seem unable to access any formatting tools on this site at all. But then I am known to be INCOMPETENT.

Have just started my period after yet another fruitless month of trying. Do NOT understand why I'm not pregnant when we were at it like rabbits. Poor DH still hasn't recovered.

Will slink back later to see if you ladies will accommodate me

nolongerchunkybutstillapudding · 29/06/2009 18:07

Ooo am excited. As I don't get out much these days you lot are now officially my drinking buddies.

Currently waiting for the ol' fella to come home so I can knacker my fast-shrivelling ovaries a bit further with a big glass of vino. Have decided that watching 'chuggington' with the small person may not quite pass as drinking in company (tho he's got milk so
would not truly be drinking alone...)

am officially a fuckwit. Pissed on a stick today despite having a reasonable grasp of how pregnancy works and not being due til next Monday. Am such a twat.

ski would be delighted to terrify regale you all with tales of the small one's entry into the world,it was an em cs tho so have not had the experience of extreme fanny trauma...

I have a link you lot will like if you haven't seen already. I will find it when I have finished an important discussion about what exactly Makka pakka is doing right now on c beebies (this is your future, just you wait...)

nolongerchunkybutstillapudding · 29/06/2009 18:14

Check [http://www.guardian.co.uk/society/2007/may/29/health.medicineandhealth this out]]

fuck I hope I linked it properly.am typing on my phone while being hit over the head with a book about trains.

I totally heart zoe Williams. Tho she is not on my list as it is a pure thing not lusty type stuff

nolongerchunkybutstillapudding · 29/06/2009 18:15

Bollocks. Try this

skihorse · 29/06/2009 18:38

Welcome mrsvandam - do you have a cat? If you could travel back in time who would you shag? etc., etc.

pudding It's OK, I don't need to hear any stories about "that". We discussed it briefly in the first chapter and I believe the general concensus is that we simply sneeze and a beautifully washed baby appears swathed in egyptian cotton in our arms. This is right isn't it?

Well I did the digital clearblue when I got home "niet zwanger" Tsk. Still, at least I know. OH got a slap round the fucking head when he said "are you sure you were pregnant?"

Still, at least I can get back to the gym/on the horse/on his cock when I've forgiven him.

nolongerchunkybutstillapudding · 29/06/2009 18:49

ski that is exactly what happens. Then you slip on a cath kidston pinny and rustle up a glorious 5 course meal while said bub sleeps peacefully only waking to occasionally coo and look photogenic.

skihorse · 29/06/2009 19:05

These 5 courses... G&T, peanuts, toast, muller light & Baileys?

Nocoffeenoworkee · 29/06/2009 19:05

Oh ski, I'm so sorry. Still, like you say, back in the saddle n all that. Here's to this month [raised glass of something extremely alcoholic]. Back on the cock and booze then?

That goes for you too trig - nice that you have such a sympathetic boss too.

I hope you're both feeling better soon.

Welcome newbys, sounds like you have all the right creds between you. And I reckon we could do with some actual god's honest truth about actual pregnancy and stuff. So, first things first: did you drink during pregnancy, if so, how much and do you have a child with 4 eyes and 2 penises?

nolongerchunkybutstillapudding · 29/06/2009 19:19

ski you forgot donuts.lots of nutrition in them as they have jam,and therefore fruit,in them.

nocoffee yep I bloody well did. I drank (tho not the normal vats of wine) throughout pregnancy and also had a couple of benders in v early pg when I pretty much knew but hadn't tested because then it would be,you know, actually real and stuff...

And ds,at the ripe old age of 17 months,is actually really bloody clever and can talk in sentences when most others his age can say 'mumumum' and 'cat'

so hurrah for drinking whilst pg I say! Drank while breastfeeding too,am a social pariah.

[chunky waits fir the daily maul to kick her door in]

READ THE LINK I POSTED

ooo bit shouty sorry

Mrsvandam · 29/06/2009 19:23

I don't have a cat but I do have a very well endowed guinea pig. Often wonder whether I should earn a few pennies by putting him out to stud...

Erm have been frantically wrapping brain and can't think of anyone I'd like to shag. I think I'm all shagged out. Literally.

Nocoffee, I did have the odd drink during pregnancy. Shine was taken off when I was in a pub having a lager shandy and noticed a woman glaring accusingly at me for drinking the said lager shandy. Bloody cow. Could have understood it if I was knocking them back... I even did the unthinkable and ate Mr Whippy ice-cream. I can confirm dd does not have 2 heads and seems reasonably intelligent.

As for THE BIRTH. Well, I did it au naturale. Can confirm everything still works as it did and is just as tight. Notice no difference. Only had one awful side effect which was 3 months after giving birth and my bladder decided to cmpletely empty on the bedroom floor. That, thank god, was a one-off.
