A note about reflexology

I was a bit about reflexology but decided to give it a shot when offered some free sessions from a trainee. Anyhow I don't think it is a coincidence that I have had it twice now and both times I found out I was pregnant later that month! (Unfortunately the first ended in MMC at 10 weeks and currently keeping fingers crossed for this current bean)

Reflexology was only thing I did different really those months and was TTC for 6 months beforehand(was also having accupuncture and massage). I found it very relaxing both times and nearly fell asleep.

My reflexologist has had to other ladies get pregnant on her too- so maybe she has healing hands- great for a trainee!

Hi this happened to me too! I had been trying for 3 years, with unexplained problems. Done the tablets, tried IUI nothing. One session at reflexology (who worked hard on appropriate area, whereever that is!!) and two weeks later, success with no 'extra' fidling or intervention if you know what I mean . Worth a go for all those 'trying' out there!

just wanted to say i have been seeing a reflexologist since jan this year, i find it really helps me destress. I have very irregular cycles, i ovulated naturally in 2 years!!! and then again 8 months after my DD was born. Since seeing her, i fell PG. I also mc, but was thrilled when AF returned 6 weeks later as i thought i'd be waiting months again. I am now on my second cycle so am as happy as pie. I also went to an oestopath last weekend as my reflexologist said my hips were out of sinc, and he clicked everything back in place and said how it affects the pelvis/uterus/ovaries so fingers crossed i am in tip top condition to conceive number 2!!

I was thinking about reflexology or accupuncture to help conceive. Do you know the best way to go about finding someone local to me? And are there any questions in particular I should ask? I'm just a bit nervous of picking someone randomly off google or yell.

Whereabouts are you? I find posting on mumsnet for recomendations helps!

I can recomend people in North London if you were local to there!

This sounds v. interesting. Was thinking about acupuncture but this sounds more relaxing somehow!

Thandeka - Firstly Congratulations! Can I ask whereabouts in North London are they based - am way out in West London (offically Surrey but can get the tube so still think of it as London!) but travel in daily!

I conceived dd1 after about 3 seesions of reflexology - we'd been trying for around a year.

However it was not relaxing - my therapist was a bit of a piurost and when she hit an area where I had a problem it bl**dy hurt - she could tell if I'd had a sneaky cigarette at the weekend by working on my little toe (lungs I think) and watching me practically jump off the bed!

piurost - oops - don't know where that came from - should have been purist!

Can't say if it was a coincidence or not, but after trying for 3 years with irregular cycles due to PCOS, I got pregnant twice after I'd started having reflexology (1st MC, 2nd now 30 weeks).

Can recommend a lady in Warrington if anyone is interested!

Wow, am very interest in this - PL did you do a thread asking for recommendations on how to find a therapist? I would like to try it and somewhere near work (Docklands) would be best.

Josie - I saw Shirley-Anne Foster on 8974 6298.

However, I didn't see her for conception purposes (although wish I had now during the 2 yrs it took to conceive dd2) but to bring on labour - my waters broke the afternoon after my 3rd session in the morning (I didn't actually go into labour but that's another story !).

She was lovely though. I agree though with Meep - it wasn't relaxing as such, hurt a lot particularly the week I went when I had a migraine and everything was tense. Cleared the migraine though.

I find reflexology fascinating !

Just wanted to say that I went for my first refelxology appt the other day and the woman was lovely so thanks for the recomendation Wheelybug. She seemed to think that all was ok as the point that I commented on hurting the most was my uterus point...she said that this was likely to be because my af was about to start but it was a good sign that there was pain as it meant there was lots going on there. Am going back for more as think just the act of doing something positive will help.

Anyone else been since this thread started?

Hi I am in south london but willing to travel. Can anyone recommend how much it cost them per session and somewhere to go.

I have found one in my area AND they are £40 per session, just wanted to check this was reasonable.

Rretomum - the lady I saw (and Josie is seeing) is in Kingston. Can't remember how much she was now but I think just under £40 so sounds reasonable.

sorry retro - I'd read that as South west london. Kingston might be too far.
