Hey ladies,

V quick check in from me - had a lovely 3 months off thinking about baby stuff , but next week is the big bad d-day - cyst removal, lap & dye and something else for me & Mr Hol's appointment with the geneticist. By next Friday we know if we can try IVF or not. Then just have to work out timings etc. as not sure if Berks have lowered the age yet.

No idea what cycle I'm on any more - yes, it really has been that relaxed! Guess around 25. But am day 3 anyways, so can someone update me on the next round?

Have I missed anything exciting?

louisbackagain · 07/10/2009 20:39

Hi ladies,

After Polycystic Ovaries,a Colposcopy, 2 MC's and several months of Clomid I finally got here.
Just wanted to let you know (those who remember me) that i am 11 weeks pregnant today and although I had a ittle bleed this week we have had a scan and been told everything should be ok. Nice strong heartbeat and right size for my dates.

I know I'm a random visitor, but this journey has been long and painful and I have often just come on to read how people are doing but not said anything.
Just wanted to say thanks again for all the good wishes and support. It has always helped to know you are not alone.

I really hope that all the people who are still here get their BFP's really soon. Good luck everyone,

love Lou xxx

ClaireDeLoon · 08/10/2009 13:45

Congratulations Lou that's wonderful news, so very pleased for you!

jaamy · 11/10/2009 22:03

Oh, Very BIG congratulations to you, Lou! Thanks for coming back to let us know and giving us all some hope. Take care of you and bean and pop back and let us know how you're getting on. x

Beanie - I'm sorry. You really deserve to get your BFP but that's not the way life works, is it? Please don't say that there is no point in carrying on TTC. You've already proved you can get pg. Take it one month at a time...I know you've been doing that for a while now but loads of women don't have their first children until they are over 40 so you still have plenty of time. I think you should book a big holiday somewhere, odds are you'll get a BFP and have horrendous ms and not enjoy the holiday at all but you wouldn't care as long as you had your bean. Will give you something to look forward to and think about other than TTC. Go on, spoil yourself. You definitely deserve it. x

Shayera - Hello lovely lady! Glad you've been enjoying not TTC. Hope your "spring clean" goes well this week and your bits will be thoroughly cleared and raring to go. Hope Mr Hol gets on ok, too. x

Hello to everyone else, hope all ok. x

zen1980 · 12/10/2009 20:15

Hey everyone , just thought id congratulate Lou, was due some more BFP's!!

Have not posted details before now as have not wanted to tempt fate as you can understand. Were very excited now and actually had a 4d scan on sat which has made everything a bit more real and let us now enjoy this time xx Its taken a while but we are getting there.

I need a bit of support from you ladies, please. I had a bit of bleeding yesterday morning (CD24) more than I would class as spotting (I thought AF had arrived early and used a tampon) but for me to have a 24 day cycle is completely unheard of. I have been checking and checking all yesterday and today. No more bleeding. I have cramps, but no more bleeding.

Now, ordinarily I would be convinced that that was an "implantation bleed" because that is what I do every month when symptom obsessing and then be horrendously disappointed when I don't get a BFP. However, we have only BD once this month, (first day after AF finished) due to mad decorating/DIY schedule to get house ready for putting up for sale. PLEASE tell me not to get my hopes up, that my body is once again playing cruel jokes on me like last month when AF appeared 2 days late.

DH and I aren't speaking at the moment due to some stupid car related incident (I think, though it is hard to tell when he gets in one of his sulks - he is currently ripping up bathroom floor so he must be in a bad mood!) Though he knows I had bleeding yesterday and hasn't enquired any further.

So, I need to hear your voices of reason before I get carried away and buy a load of babygrows!!!....

Sorry about the post x

beanieb · 13/10/2009 14:49

OH GOD! I have just had the hugest anount of EWCM ever, have been taking cough medicine because of the clomid. Trouble is that I have managed to piss my DH off plus he's extremely stressed with work and so, unless I ask him outright for a shag and tell him why, I very much doubt we'll be getting it on tonight! meh! grrrr I hate this. Maybe the fact we did it last night means it'll be ok but then I have a smear on Thursday so was planning on not having sex on Wednesday so I feel like I have to tonight! Bah and double Bah.

Jaamy I have never had implantation or mid cycle bleeding so am not sure what to advise but am crossing my fingers for you. I know what it's like though when you don't want to get your hopes up.

blackrock · 13/10/2009 16:22

Oh Beanie....know your exact sentiments. Positive though in that it sounds like you have a healthy chance this cycle

jaamy · 13/10/2009 16:29

Thanks Beanie - don't know what to make of it all. Wait, I guess, again!!!!

Gosh it must be something in the air, all these marital rifts. Grit your teeth and ask your DH for a good old seeing to. What's the worst he can he say??? No? You'll be kicking yourself if you don't and this could be THE ONE!!

Blackrock - hey how are you??? Any feelings about your luck this month? Did DH do his bit, yet?

ShayeraHol · 13/10/2009 17:51

Ooh, I missed Claire's BFP! How exciting! Many congratulations. And also to Lou

Back from the hospital today - cyst was nothing ominous, just plain old dermoid, everything else is in working order and Berks have now lowered the age limit to 30-34 so we get one free shot @ IVF ICSI with 45% chance of success. So good week all round, other than the pain (lap & dye NO FUN.) Next appt in 2 months - need to get back on the weight loss thoroughly, as although consultant says a BMI of 28 shouldn't be a barrier I want to get under 25 just in case.

Jaamy - voice of reason says that if you were late last month then maybe that's just how your cycle's going now, and that it's always best not to get your hopes up and that sometimes cycles have odd bleeding. Voice of non-reason wishes to point out we've had BFP's on this thread before from people who did the deed once that month at the wrong time.

beanie - jump him . It's a good way of apologising for having pissed him off (whether your fault or not!), and a great destresser!

jaamy · 13/10/2009 18:19

Fantastic news, Shayera! So, your next appt will be just before Christmas. Here's to a great 2010 for you! x

Yes, voice of reason is keeping me from getting too excited...but can't help being a bit optimistic.

ShayeraHol · 13/10/2009 19:30

Be optimistic! It's a good thing. Hope is what keeps us going, after all...

beanieb · 13/10/2009 20:04

Am thinking maybe what I thought was ewcm was actually pree-seed from last night doh!

blackrock · 14/10/2009 10:52

Glad to see the news about Claire and Lou

Oh beanie !

DH did his bit

jaamy · 15/10/2009 09:48

Still no sign of anything here after (more than) spotting at the beginning of the week. 28 day cycle is normal for me, though so will see what happens over the weekend.

Jaamy I am very excited for you Any news?
Lou Congratulations, very pleased for you

Shayer So pleased you had some good news, although ouch about the lap & dye!
Blackrock Glad to see you "persuaded" DH

I am still lurking when I can girls, RL has taken over quite a bit, DH was made redundant, he's got a temp job but hates it and the money is crap so bit stressful in our household tbh. Also got problems with my back due to growing buglet baby! But hey ho that's life and I am very grateful that I am in pain (if that makes sense ) I just want the rest of you girls to be in my position too x

beanieb · 18/10/2009 10:29

Hey Buddha lovely to see you and sorry to hear about your DH's job .

Claire - hope you are ok. I only saw the update on your other thread last night. Hope that you're taking care of yourself.

Any news Jaamy - crossing my fingers for you.

Wave to Blackrock and to her DH for doing his bit Me and mine didn't really make up until the day after so am not sure if I have missed it this month I am not even sure when I ovulated as I don't know if the massive show of EWCM was pre-seed or not. OPK's have been useless. Anyway - if fertility friend is correct I ovulated on Thursday and we had sex on wednesday and Friday so maybe I will be in luck.

Hey guys, just a quicky update from me. The tests are back but they won't give us the results until we see the doctor at the surgery on Friday. I'm getting quite scared now. Please send some positive vibes our way.

PL - sending you and DH a huge bucketful of positive vibes. I really hope that DH's little men are good quality, it only takes one, you know and at least if you know what you're up against things can be addressed. Have you got plenty of things planned until fri to keep both your minds busy? x

Buddha - lovely to hear from you. Sorry that DH was made redundant but kind of glad he is there to look after you and your poorly back. Good that babybuddha is doing well - when are you due?

Claire - how are you? Hope things have settled down and you are taking it easy with bean.

beanie - rooting for you as always!

Did a HPT on Sat which kind of sealed my fate!! Don't know who I was kidding. Not sure my cycle# is right. Will have a think and get back.

PistachioLemon · 20/10/2009 22:09

Hey Jaamy, sorry to see you back at the top. HPTs always do the trick for me too

Thank you for the buckets of positive vibes. I'm really worried and hardly slept last night. DH in the meantime won't really discuss it. I think he thinks it's his fault... obviously I've told him it's not and that it's just one of those things and that we'll get through it together.

I was wondering, can you think of any good questions I should be asking the doctor? I read an article in the Times yesterday which said that one of the considerations as to whether to start IVF or not should be how many 'quality' eggs a woman has left. I hadn't really thought of that before - as I'm 'only' 34 and my mum started menopause in her early 40s I've always thought that there was a fair amount of time but now I'm wondering whether I should ask about that as well?

Also do you think I should ask for tests on me too? Just because DH's swimmers are few and far between and are lazy little beggars, doesn't mean my eggies are any better does it.

Isn't it ironic (is that the right thing to say?) for years DH wouldn't agree to starting a family and finally he agrees and now it's a PITA. Grrrr. Why isn't anything simple.

OP posts:
jaamy · 21/10/2009 11:28

Hi PL. I'm really sorry to hear that you are so worried about this and am still hoping you get some decent news on Friday.

If the number of eggs you have is something you want to ask, then do so. If you would like to be checked out then you should ask about that too - you need to make it as easy as possible for DH's little guys. It might vary from region to region as to which test they will carry out but you don't know unless you ask. I'm sure you'll think of other things before Friday and the girls here will have some ideas too. I don't have any experience of IVF but perhaps you could post on an IVF thread to see if there is anything else you should consider, if that is the route that you are advised to take on Friday. x

Alternatively you could just move in next door to me as that seems to be baby-making central. DH has just found out that she is pg with DC4 with DC3 1yo next month (This will be DC5 for him). They have screaming rows, throw things at each other and she often makes comments about not even liking him or his family, never mind loving him - her very own words. They making no secret of the fact that they don't speak to each other for long periods of time and usually as one arrives home, the other goes out. He goes on holiday by himself or with the lads every 6 weeks or so because she can't stand to go with him. It makes me very sad that they are bringing another child into this mess when (I think) that we have a loving home and can offer another baby so much and get can't have one.

ShayeraHol · 22/10/2009 20:55

Hey PL - here's what I know, although not sure if you're further along with the process than me.

In order to get the OK for IVF I've had to have tests as well - scans, lap & dye, blood tests etc. I don't know about number of eggs but the fact that I have them and they arrive at the right time appeared to be enough for the NHS.

Berks used to have the starting age for IVF as 35 - therefore seems unlikely that 34 would present you with a major problem, although guess in our kind of boat there's no benefit to waiting (could take a while etc.)

I don't know much more than that yet - waiting for first proper consultation about IVF ICSI and then will know more, but I don't think you need to worry.

I think the not talking is a normal male reaction - DH took the whole thing very personally, very difficult for him to accept that the problem was with him (although apparently wouldn't have been an issue if it had been me... go figure).
