Hi all,
Fruit, it does sound like Clomid messing up your cycle. I have read that it does that as well, but forgot. I think it thins the lining of the uterus as well. Perhaps it is one of those things you do for a few months and then go back to after a break, when your endometrium has gone back to normal.
There is another similar fertility pill called Femara, it is on loads of US forums, so they probably don't do it here. It works in a similar way to Clomid, but I don't think it thins the endometrium.
Anyway, never mind all that and have a lovely holiday with yummy food and wine. [wipes dribble off Fruit's cheek with hankie]

Tetley, you can't over stim with Puregon can you? I presume it increases the number of follicles available.
I do hope it works for you, but be careful about any dodgy symptoms.

disneystar1 · 19/07/2009 22:29

hi all im new here on this thread i have toyed well more than toyed with the fact id love another baby, my youngest is just 1. i feel time is ticking away here and its kind of now or never, i feel too old to ttc really
and wonder what people will say if i tell them, i have read a few posts here and feel better for reading them.

disneystar1 · 19/07/2009 22:36

oh meant to add im 41

rowingboat · 19/07/2009 23:02

Hi Disney, welcome to the thread.
I'm 42 and have one little boy who is four, we are about to go for our second IVF, but I've been on this thread for aaaaages, so I'm sticking around.
How long have you been TTC?
Have you managed to recoup some of your lost sleep from having your first baby yet?

fifitot · 20/07/2009 11:02

Hi - back from my holls and right into BDing. Got pos OPK on Sun but actually think I have OVd today so not much chance to get them in. On hol sharing room with DD so no chance then!

Hope all of you well. Hi to disney and good luck to rowing with your IVF.

rowingboat · 20/07/2009 23:36

Hi Fifi I hope you had a lovely hollie. Are you feeling all relaxed?
I think the OPK predicts ovulation within the next 36 hours, but the CM kind of disappears before the actual ovulation, so you have to have the swimmers in situ, so to speak, before ovulation.
Good luck!
I have heard back from an acupuncturist, recommended through another IVF'er. She is charging £38 for 45 minutes and the treatment is once a week and on the day of embryo transfer. So that's four sessions, I reckon.
I hope I like it and it's not just maaaah, you know, kind of nothing.

KiwiKat · 21/07/2009 14:09

Hello everyone, I'm back from holiday. Cyprus - lovely and hot. London - drizzly rain. Blah. Am at work - also blah - so just popping in very quickly to say hi, and will read up on all the doings over the last two weeks tonight when I get home. Hope you're all well and happy, and that there is some good news in these posts!

thefatladyscreams · 21/07/2009 15:37

Hi, is there room for another newbie here?

I'm 40 and TTC no 1. Just had a m/c so no idea when we can try again. Just hoping I don't get too obsessional with trying (was quite laid back last time).

Nice weather to come back from holidy to, KiwiKat!

KiwiKat · 21/07/2009 21:03

Right, have caught up on the news.

Me first - I'm CD 16, 3rd cycle of clomid, (but only 2nd cycle of trying - you may remember that there were 4 eggs so we were advised not to go for it) and ov'd on day 14, and managed to bd quite a few times.

Welcome to the newbies - whatever the other threads throw up, I've always found this thread to be loving, informative and supportive, and many of us use it to rant/offload/have a big cry. I actually thought about all of you guys a few times while I was on holiday, would you believe.

Rowing - good luck for round 2. Will be keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Tetley - you're coming to London! If you have time, come and meet me for a drink/chocolate/whatever your poison is.

Fruitbowl - so sorry to hear that you got the WOD. Even more frustrating when you got all the way to CD38.

Not happy to be back in London, but happy to be back talking to all of you.

rowingboat · 21/07/2009 23:35

Hi Kiwi, good to have you back in the fold (baaa).Yes round two ding ding!
I've even got acupuncture lined up for sometime...
Hope you had a great hol and that the relaxation and bding has all worked to great effect.
Fatlady good to have you on board> There will be a large number of references to you and things not being over, particularly when people are nearing AF. Rest assured we will be referring to another Fatlady, one who sings.

spiralqueen · 22/07/2009 14:32

Hi all, welcome newbies.

Thanks for all the hayfever advice. Saw the GP Monday and she prescribed so tablets that were fine and then the lovely pharmacist said don't bother with the prescription, these are the same and cost a third of the price for a 30 day supply. Result.

DH has been told he's got Swine Flu today but that me and DD don't need to be quarantined and aren't likely to get it as we have caught it so far.

As we're off to the fertility clinic Tuesday morning and France Tuesday evening this isn't great timing. Finger's crossed that he recovers swiftly...

thefatladyscreams · 22/07/2009 14:55

rowingboat - that's given me a much needed chortle. My new mission! Mind you, I'm trying to be less of a fat lady fullstop !

Hummm, the nottooporkywomanwhosings?

spiralqueen - lousy timing, hope your DH recovers quickly.

rowingboat · 22/07/2009 18:03

The slimmerbythedaylady?

Spiral swine flu! How is he? I don't know anyone who has had it - yet...

fruitbowl · 22/07/2009 20:59

Back from the seaside and just wanted to wave to everyone. Thanks for your lovely comments Tetley, Kiwi & Rowing. Hi to Disney and The Fat Lady Sings (TFLS for short??)

Looking forward to proper catch up after I've unpacked and done the boring washing, putting away, tidying up bla bla ZZZZzzzzzzz xx

OP posts:
fruitbowl · 22/07/2009 20:59

Oops sorry "screams" not "sings"!

OP posts:
fruitbowl · 22/07/2009 21:01

Oh and get well soon Spiral's DH - hope you make it away. (Away for 4 days and forgotten how to bleedin post without making a dog's dinner of it!)

OP posts:
KiwiKat · 22/07/2009 22:05

Sorry to hear about the swine flu, Spiral.

rowingboat · 23/07/2009 12:33

Who is that posting? Fruit? It can't be! Fruit does nice, orderly posts, one at a time.
Spiral are you OK?

spiralqueen · 23/07/2009 14:16

Hi all - thanks for all your good wishes, I have passed them on and DH says thank you. The tamiflu is almost the worst bit as it makes you sick for the first few doses.

DD and I are fine, I suspect I've had a mild dose of it but not bad enough to retreat to bed. My boss who's a consultant reckons that people getting it now are the lucky ones as they will have built up some immunity. He thinks that it will be a lot nastier by the time winter comes around and the death rate will be a lot higher. Gosh that's cheerful isn't it.

I reported it to nursery, dreading them turning DD away for the foreseeable future but they were very laid back about it and there was no question of her not being allowed to attend.

Did you have a good time at the seaside fruit?

rowingboat · 23/07/2009 22:44

Spiral that's good news about your DH and you and your DD. Thank goodness you are building up immunity.
I'm dreading my DS going back to nursery, I'm convinced somebody will have it. Because I work in a university, I can see some of the students coming back in September with swine flu. Great!
My poor babies (which I will of course have by then - positive thoughts!!!)
I'm going into hiding.
Fruit are you feeling all virtuous now you have done all the boooooring stuff? Have you got the PHB's (post holiday blues) like Kiwi?
Kiwi do raindrops keep falling on your head?

fruitbowl · 23/07/2009 22:53

Rowing - I did some of the boring stuff but most of it was Soooo boring, I couldn't get motivated so the bags are unpacked but the house is still a pigsty looking lovely and "lived in". Where are u up to with your IVF? DH's bosses wife has just had embies implanted but I don't know her well enough to find out how she's doing!

Thanks for asking too Spiral, I did have a lovely time. 2 days sun on the beach on the trot! (No not the trots!) We saw some beee-oootiful dolphins on a boat trip so it was worth the hideous boat rocking and almost puking! I'm glad to be home and back on dry land! Hope DH gets better soon. Sounds like we're all better off getting it now - shall we have a flu party?

x

Hello,

I am totally new to Mums Net and chat boards and I hope you will accept me on this topic, I think I understand a bit of the jargon. I read back on this thread and I am really interested by spiralqueen as you say you are 46 and having fertility tests. I am also 46 and 4 mnths and hadn't even bothered going to my Doctor to ask about any tests as I thought she would fall off her chair laughing - (though maybe they might be more helpful with DH who is 37). I had thought that everything stopped dead in the fertility NHS world at 44. I also wondered if Grownups was still on this thread as I am currently doing TCM and just about to embark with foresight. I had a MC last year at 11/12 weeks and suddenly my clock has been the most important thing in my life!

fruitbowl · 23/07/2009 23:15

welcome summersky! A fellow night bird! Sorry to hear about your MC . Hopefully Spiral and GrownupB will be here before too long... x

Welcome Summer - come and share my oldest poster status .

Fertility clinic was at the suggestion of my GP (perhaps influenced by the fact she was pg herself?). After surprise arrival of DD at 44 and 10mths we suddenly thought a second child might be a possibility but it hasn't happened. I went to the GP more to get confirmation that we were wasting our time than thinking in terms of getting specialist help.

Initial tests on me seem to indicate that I should be able to conceive but GP felt the clinic could give better idea and possibly give us some options.

Watch this space...

SummerSky · 23/07/2009 23:39

Hello you two having read the whole of this thread I feel I already know you - it's funny at night when you just can't stop thinking about it.

SpiralQueen It's really encouraging news for you and options that's a magic word at our age.

I too had a DD late at 41 she is fine and beautiful but I so want a second to share all our lives.

TCM says there should be no reason not to concieve up to 49, my trouble is I get so stressed by it all and want to run around like a manic trying everything.
