C1ndy huge hugs for you . The reflexlogy sounds fab, and what have you got to lose, i reckon give it a try, Reflexology is amazing, they can determine so much from it. And yes get to the docs too!

Pinky fingers crossed for your appt tomorrow. hope it goes ok!

Lovely monster sorry AF got you.

Got blood results back and all is normal. Booking scan tomorrow.

yellowflowers · 07/05/2009 11:08

Good news kitty

I am starting diet today focussing on no bread and lots of walking which a few years ago helped me lose two and a half stone. So far today half a bowl of bran flakes so thatis good (usually I ruin diet plans by breakfast!)

Got to go to meeting at 6 but going to get off train two stops early and walk.

Joolsiam · 07/05/2009 11:19

Yellow - your anovulatory theory sounds plausible

Just a word of warning re dieting - don't cut back too much too quickly as it sends your body into starvation mode so your metabolism slows down and you simply don't lose weight. I'm having a week of cutting down, prior to starting the Cambridge Diet again and have been eating:

Brekki - bowl of All Bran, small glass of GFJ
Snack - small banana, 2 clementines
Lunch - M&S Count on Us sandwich and low fat yoghurt
Snack - Apple
Dinner - Home made (well DP made) chicken and prawn curry with a small portion of basmati rice

Over the next few days, I will cut out all bread, reduce the amount of carbs generally and increase the amount of protein and veg.

Iggy - you are correct in what you say about AF - when the first one hit, the PMT and the reminder of what had happened was crippling - plan a day to distract yourself, or at least plan to not be at work - hope it isn't too bad.

No real idea what my cycle is doing - thought I might be approaching ovulation yesterday (much to my surprise on CD13 since MC) so jumped on DP which he enjoyed, but was unable to deliver the goods - grrrrr. Am hoping I still have time to try again tonight I seem to have hit that absolutely desperate to TTC post MC stage

Must go concentrate on some work, having lost a number of days to pre MC worry, MC, then post MC upset - am sooooooo behind

yellowflowers · 07/05/2009 11:29

thanks Jools - that is pretty much what I was thinking my diet might be generally rather than as cutting down pre proper dieting!

Joolsiam · 07/05/2009 11:34

Well all the books say that the average calorie intake for a woman should be around 2000 calories per day, or more if you are active. I keep to that strict regime for a few days, together with 3 miles each day of walking and several gym visits. That is approximately 1500 calories, so should allow me to lose weight if my metabolism moved at more than a snails pace. When I get back to the Cambridge Diet, I'll be on around 800 calories.

When not dieting, I probably eat a little more - have the odd treat too many times per week . In general, my diet is good these days and perfect for weight maintenance - I just need the kick-start to get it off and I should be able to keep it off. To do CD, you need to empty your glycogen stores, which means slowly cutting out carbs over a period of a week so your metabolism doesn't get a huge shock when you start !

LovelyMonster · 07/05/2009 21:19

Oh my god. Even Heather Trott is up the duff. Give us a break please!!!!

C1NDY · 07/05/2009 21:57

Hi All, I am spend way too much time with the boss, since he has been back we have been hanging out - goush, its lovely NOT! I am up for a promotion in Dec, do I want it NOPE but can I tell them that no. They have been so good knowing I want to conceive that I don't have the heart to say that I am thinking of moving on, once the market gets better. So sorry have not been on here as usual.

Jools and Yellow I have been on the Cambridge CD for four weeks now and have lost one stone and 2 lbs ... its a fab diet and I am on the 800 plan which is fab but I do dip in and out of Sole Source then up one step and then weekends do the 800... Jools, I think you will know what I mean. It gives me flexibility but also a good weight loss.

Well I have been spotting for two days... TMI alert !!! very tiny bleeding... it stops and then comes back. Is this normal? Is this my system trying to get back to having an AF? I have been having mild cramps, not painful but AF ones. Should I go to the doctors to find out why or just wait and see what happens by next week? I was twelve weeks gone.

Good morning C1ndy Good news on AF ! I think I had a wierd anovulatory bleed 5.5 weeks after MC and then proper AF 5 weeks later, so it can take time - we were at similar stages too I think.

I have seen that CD thread and have posted on it once or twice. This week, I am just cutting back the carbs but will restart next week properly and may well join the thread properly then - am not looking forward to telling my CD counsellor I'm back though - not sure if I can cope with real life sympathy .

My weight loss was never as good as yours, even on 800 plan with lots of exercise. I managed 16lbs in 7 weeks, which was very good progress for me and my wonky metabolism. I get the results of thyroid function tests back today - am hoping in a way that they show something as that could explain both the MC's and my difficulty losing weight.

I should have been on operation BD last night - started well as I met DP for a drink after work and we were having a really really good (spontaneous) evening out. Stayed out rather too long though and I drank more than I have in months Can't remember getting home last night and had to get up for 8am this morning to let the plumber in, so no BD action and a hangover instead !! Not drinking tonight, so hopefully will stay awake long enough to do the deed. I reckon I'm on CD15 today and am guessing that ov, normally expected today, might be delayed a couple of days so it is all systems go for this weekend

Hope everyone has a good day It is pouring with rain here ...

yellowflowers · 08/05/2009 09:45

Me too jools. Went out for one drink with friends. Ended up having several and getting wasted. Even had a cigarette! Oh dear!

Guess yesterday's diet no good anyone know a diet friendly hangover cure? If not then guess it'll start Mon instead.

Going for my day 3 blood test today.

X

Joolsiam · 08/05/2009 09:48

I figure that, since I didn't eat dinner, the alcohol calories won't have done too much damage !!

Yellow - no need to put off till Monday - if you need a hangover brekkie, just have grilled bacon, scrambled eggs and a slice of toast, then go out for a long walk in the fresh air to clear your head

kittycatcat · 08/05/2009 10:07

C1ndy great news AF arrived.

yellow good luck with the bloods!

Jools fingers crossed for your results!

hi everyone. Going to book pelvic scan this afternoon x

yellowflowers · 08/05/2009 10:23

Have gone for bowl of fruit and fibre instead . Not sure it's quite up to the job though but going for the walk now...

With Cambridge diet etc - I think my dh would be annoyed. Cooking together and eating out is big part of our life and it would curtail his enjoyment too. I wondered about maybe doing it in the days but not evenings or weekends. So effectively not really eating proper meals for weekday breakfasts and lunch. Would this work or would it just confuse the body?

Joolsiam · 08/05/2009 10:31

I had a similar problem re the eating together and eating out.

The short answer is that, yes you can still lose weight if you have the meal replacements during the day and a meal in the evenings, but on the lower calorie Cambridge plans, the aim is to get you into a state called ketosis where you burn fat a lot faster and don't have any hunger pangs. To do this, you need to virtually cut out carbohydrates, so no potatoes, rice, pasta, bread, fruit etc etc.

I compromised by having evening meals that didn't contain carbohydrates - DP could either add some or not as he wanted to his plate. I ate things like stirf frys with lots of chicken and veg, adding bean sprouts instead of noodles. I had big green salads with lots of tuna, made chicken kebabs, stuffed peppers with cottage cheese and put them under the grill ... There are loads of options

The best bit about the diet (aside from rapid weight loss) is the side-effect of not feeling hungry after the first few days, so I'd highly recommend cutting out the carbs as it makes sticking to a diet so much easier if you are not hungry

Joolsiam · 08/05/2009 11:34

Well the thyroid tests have all come back normal , so it looks like I'll need that recurrent MC referral after all - lovely GP has assured me that the paperwork was put in the post to me yesterday

kittycatcat · 08/05/2009 13:49

glad the GP is on it. Hope they get you an appt soon, x

LovelyMonster · 08/05/2009 18:20

Hi All hope everyone is gearing up for a great weekend.

I am sooo of all the weight loss! I have no self control at all.... especially when things seem so depressing! Am trying thou I know it will improve chances of TTC.

Jools- Good news that thyroid is normal. Can have a lot of implications on pregnancy. Sounds like you had fun last night! Those unplanned nights out really are the best - good on you! I am CD3 today so enjoying a well deserved vodka and coke as i speak in preparation for not drinking for the rest of the month (and hopefully for the next 9 months +!!!!!

Yellow - I think our cycles are similar. I had first bloods done yesterday. Have delightful scan booked for 26th may to check ovaries and dh has done his thing in the cup! We are waiting for all results to come back then see GP (who btw I have changed and is fabulous. No mucking around. Unlike our last gp who would first ask what was wrong and then what i thought he should do!)

Cindy - Yay for af arriving! You are so right we normally wish it away. Funny to be waiting for it to arrive! Have a nice bottle glass of wine tonight to celebrate!!
Heather Trott is a character off eastenders. If only we all lived in soapland..........

Well im off to newcastle this weekend for my gorgeous nephews christening. Going to have a great time if only could figure out what to wear to church in this slightly unpredictable weather..........

LovelyMonster · 08/05/2009 18:21

Pinky - how was your appointment?

funtimewincies · 08/05/2009 19:34

Hello, hope that it's all right for me to pop back and see how you all are.

Had my dating scan today and all is well, a very lively little bean with lots of stretching and bouncing. I think that I might now be able to relax a little and begin to think to the future . I've got a hospital antenatal appointment in a few weeks just to check that all is OK still and then I should be getting straightforward mw care. Blimey, I never thought that I'd be at this point again.

Good luck on the BFPs this month, I'll keep checking up on you all!

kittycatcat · 09/05/2009 07:18

Hello all

nice to 'see' ya funtime glad everything is going well how many weeks are you now?

Speaking of weightloss did anyone watch the programme on Claire from Steps last night. I am feeling inspired.. Obv dont have her money so cant hire a PT 4 days a week but i am gonna get back on WW and in the gym now.

yellowflowers · 09/05/2009 13:35

funtimewincies · 09/05/2009 20:03

Hi All hope you all had good weekends.

Great news Funtime I am so pleased everything is going well for you.

Glad AF arrived Cindy

Good news re Thyroid Jools Lovelymonster keeping fingers crossed re blood tests.

Had my appointment of Friday with Gyney and am feeling positive. He said that all the results for my blood tests were normal. He said that although my Progesterome we 25.7 instead of 30 he thinks it is as my test was done too early as it was 8 daYS bf AF and it should have been 5 to 7 days so he reacons it was on its way up. He did an internal (yuk) and said that everything was as it should be. He wants me to repeat my test to check progesterone level again. If it is still low he will give me some clomid to give everything a boost. He said that as you pass 35 (I am 36) it can take a bit longer to get pregnant as it has done in the past.

One thing he did say was that DH will need to be tested if they offer me Clomid, this has not gone down well (he says he has got me PG 3 times so why does he need testing) DH can be bit of pain ttc Calling me obsessive, yet says he would dearly like another child. i find him so frustrating sometimes arrrgh!
