Basically, I'm classing any PG symptom to be something that I don't normally experience - stupid optimistic I know

InTheMidnightGarden · 01/07/2009 02:34

claire: i know how you feel i convince myself too somtimes. then get soo disappointed when AF comes.
well as it turns out i am not PG this time round. AF came at the weekend. so CD4 for me now. .

Oh, bad luck this month ITMG. It's such a shame when it doesn't happen.

Do you end up thinking "what a waste of all those shags!" ?

claireinthecommunity · 01/07/2009 18:48

ITMG sorry to hear that, best of luck for next month

JasHook · 02/07/2009 10:37

Sorry to hear that, ITMG . I'm sure you will have better luck next month.

CD29 for me and no AF yet. Hum.

CurlyCasper · 02/07/2009 10:53

Morning all, and thanks for the additional welcomes. Sorry to hear your news ITMG, but happy thoughts for next month.

Well, we're back from Devon and had a lovely relaxing time. Stopping meds next week, then it will be three months and counting till TTC...

claireinthecommunity · 02/07/2009 15:28

Jas I'm on CD29 too, with no sign of AF just yet. Went to Tesco's earlier and bought my first PG test and a box of tampons - to cover both angles

Not sure when I'll test yet, I'm a little concerned about testing too early as this is my first cycle since coming off the pill, so it could be a lot longer than I'm used to. I bought a two pack, so if I test tomorrow morning and get a BFN and AF still hasn't made an appearance by Monday, I could use the second test then.

Welcome home Curly, good to hear you had a lovely time in Devon. Hopefully the next three months will fly by for you How do you feel about coming off your medication? (hope you don't mind me asking)

JasHook · 02/07/2009 16:02

Claire my thoughts exactly (though I haven't actually dared buy the test yet, too scary!! )

Fingers crossed for you and I'll try and drop by to keep up with everyone over the weekend.

CurlyCasper · 02/07/2009 16:44

Fingers crossed for Claire and Jas...

Have to admit, I hadn't really considered how messed up cycle would be post pill before I came on here. Stopped taking them a few weeks ago because doc missed it on repeat presc, and then we made the decision to TTC anyway. First off-pill AF visit was June 13, so now counting days till next one to see if it's anywhere near "normal"!

As for the other meds - I'm not too sure but willing to give it a bosh. Summer is definitely a good time to do it because I feel generally healthier and happier, but had to wait till camping etc was over because of the strain on my body (so much walking/sand dune climbing/running after our crazy dog!) I could end up really stiff and in agony, but seeing GP on the 14th, so can moan and ask for a backup plan then!

The hardest bit is that I don't want to tell my employers I'm off meds and why, but I don't want my work to suffer because my arthritis is not under control. DH and I are going with the one-day-at-a-time approach - and hopefully before too long I will be enjoying the common in-pregnancy arthritis remission. (hopeful face - if there was one!)

BTW Claire I worked in a shop as a student and used to be totally bemused when people bought the PG test kit and tampon combo - now I get it!

claireinthecommunity · 02/07/2009 18:42

Thanks Jas, I'm probably being a little optimistic with the PG test after first month of trying, but you never know, so many women on mumsnet seem to fall first month - maybe I'm one of them?

Curly, Blimey, I get aches and pains camping and walking without suffering with arthritis like you But I'm sure your pain and mine are in different leagues As for taking each day as it comes, that's what DH and I do with my issues, even now on the meds I can be quite changeable.

Tricky one regarding your employer, hopefully you will cope ok without the meds, fall PG fairly soon and then only need to tell employer you're expecting (in an ideal world I know, but it could be like that for you, here's hoping) The in-pregnancy remission sounds good!

One thing that's been on my side throughout my ups and downs recently, is that, I work with my DH and we're self-employed, so no employer to answer or explain to - just the tax man!

claireinthecommunity · 02/07/2009 18:47

Oh god, I hope that doesn't read that I'm pleased that you are in more pain than I am , that couldn't be further from the truth.

CurlyCasper · 02/07/2009 21:42

Not at all Claire, I got what you meant! The "ideal world" scenario you paint is exactly the plan - but I won't be naive about it.

Decided I need muscle strength to cope - so joined fitness club today for swimming and classes (aquafit & yoga probably) Wouldn't hurt to shift some post marital weight too!

Lucky you answering to just the taxman! V jealous!

claireinthecommunity · 02/07/2009 23:09

Fitness club sounds like a good idea Curly, funnily enough I've just taken up swimming again and was thinking about maybe going along to a yoga or pilates class.

Not having to answer to an employer is great, but having to keep your accounts up to date and handed in on time can be a little impossible hard work sometimes

Ozziegirly · 03/07/2009 00:54

Damn!

CD1

Ah well. I didn't really expect to be PG this time as I didn't have a single symptom, but hey ho.

So that meant that my last cycle was 27 days, from 30 days the month before.

The good news on that though is that at least I am having vaguely normal cycles as I have heard people going months without a period after coming off the pill.

I was thinking of buying a basal thermometer today, to start to see if I am ovulating. I don't seem to get any CM at all that I can see on the outside (TMI!) so thought it seemed a good idea. Any thoughts?

CITC and Jashook - have you tested yet??? Keeping fingers crossed for you!

Ozziegirly · 03/07/2009 04:35

Bloody city!

I went out at lunch time to buy a basal body thermometer (I have no idea how to spell) - 5 chemists, all served by women staring at me blankly.

FGS, has no one in Adelaide ever planned a family before?

Because of this I was forced to go and buy a bag of chocolate nuts which I will eat this afternoon in a sulk.

So, any suggestions as to where I can buy on on the internet?

CurlyCasper · 03/07/2009 06:31

ozzie, sorry about that. For the thermometer see here

and here

Amazon also seem to sell them.

Good luck!

Ozziegirly · 03/07/2009 06:50

Perfect, thank you very much Curley Casper.

I am no longer in a sulk....

Luckily DH and I are going away for the weekend, so I have that to look forward to.

I actually don't feel as disapointed as I expected to - I think I had managed to convince myself (accurately) that I wasn't PG.

Have a good weekend and good bonking/testing everyone.

claireinthecommunity · 03/07/2009 13:12

I'm with you Ozzie, AF came this morning, so no need for the HPT! Also as you, I don't feel too disapointed and I'm pleased that my cycle seems to have gone straight back to normal after coming off the pill. So much for all of my 'symptoms', I'll still be a crazy symptom spotter throughout this month though

How about you Jas?

Ozziegirly · 05/07/2009 09:37

Sorry to hear that CITC - fingers crossed for us both this coming month.

My period was a bit odd though - it basically lasted 2 days, and was really light. Clearly was a "proper" period, but just short and light. I can't imagine if I had managed to fertilise an egg that there would have been much of a comfy bed for it!

Maybe this is still the hangover of the pill hormones.

claireinthecommunity · 05/07/2009 21:55

My period has been rather heavy and painful, it seems to have lightened now though. It's left me feeling absolutely exhausted all weekend.

Yeah you could be right about the pill hormones Ozzie, but when I read ..."lasted 2 days, and was really light"..., I did think implantation bleed! - think I've been reading too many threads on here

Ozziegirly · 06/07/2009 00:28

Well Claire, I did wonder about that too!

I don't think it was though - although it was light, it was more than "spotting" and I had proper period cramps. Basically it was exactly the same as my pill periods - light, short and no hassle.

Plus I don't feel any different today and still have no symptoms, so I'm pretty sure it was just a light AF...

claireinthecommunity · 06/07/2009 01:30

I'm sure you're right Ozzie, you know your body

I suppose I'm overly optimistic and want everyone to fall PG as soon as possible - hence my own mad symptom spotting!

Also, even though I said you know your body, I feel I'm only now getting to know how my cycles work - I've never really thought about it before, well, only to make sure I don't fall pregnant!

claireinthecommunity · 06/07/2009 01:33

BTW, did you enjoy your chocolate nuts?!

Ozziegirly · 06/07/2009 05:37

No, I've never thought about my cycle before either. Before I came off the pill I'd never really heard of things like "luteal phase", and I believed everything I was told at school about how incredibly easy it is to get pregnant.

Chocolate nuts were fab......mmmmm

InTheMidnightGarden · 06/07/2009 14:25

afternoon ladies.

sorry havn't been on for a while my internet is playing up. hopefuly it will be better soon.

i will get back on when i can and update you all.
