Marla - I am trying to decide whether to ditch the OPKs as well. Not sure whether they are stressing me out even more, I never used them when ttc dd. My AF is due today, but not appeared so far. I did a first response though, so I know I'm not pg. Am starting to relax about it a little now. I think once you get the BFN, you grieve a little, and then focus on the next month.

alfiesmadmother · 23/04/2009 09:32

Ok so I have EWCM-and CD15, but had no surge on OPK at all yet! Oh I guess we just need to get down to it!

On a more serious note DH got made redundant yesterday and my hours have been cut, don't know how we will manage and don't really know what to do. My head is saying stop trying for a baby but my hormones and heart are saying keep trying as we have been wanting to be pregnant for months

laurielou · 23/04/2009 10:06

oh alfies so sorry to hear about your DH's redundancy. I've been there myself a few years ago & its not a nice feeling. However, looking back it was one of the best things that happened to me. So I have my fingers crossed for you.

I can see your dilemma re pg. Mmmmm, my friend's who are always trying to persuade me say that if you think too hard you can never really afford a family, just go for it.

What are your DH's prospects of getting another job soonish? I mean, it could be a month or 2 before you conceive, then the obvious 9 month wait - he could well be settled into another job by then.

marla I have my fingers crossed for you too (proving difficult to type now). Like your approach though.

Oh don't say that some of you are considering stopping OPK's. I'm on CD4, waiting for it to buggar off, then I'm planning to use OPK's for the first time. They're in the drawer waiting & calling to me. Never used them before, hoping to have a bit of advice & support.

Hello to everyone else I haven't mentioned by name.

potatofactory · 23/04/2009 12:17

Thanks for putting me in my correct place, Newmember

alfiesmadmother · 23/04/2009 13:07

thankyou for you advice Laurielou! Am TTC #4 so hard to justify being desperate for a baby, but when we have been trying a while (and first 3 conceived first go, which is worrying me). He works in buiilding so prospects not great but he would do any job to keep us going and so would I, just a stupid time for us. And I guess things change, and I will be able to work from home when the baby is born.

I have sacked OPK's and only one left for tomorrow and then no money now to buy more!!! And i have not had my surge, although it could not be due yet anyway. I think we are going to try and BD every 2 days but easier said then done!!!!

GGood luck Marla, Funny how these months drag by and then suddenly to testing, I can't wait to start testing , need to BD first though!!!!!!

Katnkittens · 23/04/2009 13:22

Alfies.. same here, am TTC#4 and in a similar position in that this may be our last month for financial reasons.

My DDs are 12,10 and 5 and have had 2 miscarriages this year so am dreading passing the dreaded due dates without a bump to keep me company. I'm 29, I did want my family finished by 30 but thats clearly not going to happen and I have a while to change my mind.

We only made the decision to stop a week ago so I now have to secretly keep my fingers crossed that I'm pregnant this month (shhh dont tell DH) but if I'm not it's not the end of the world...

donttrythisathome · 23/04/2009 16:04

alfies sorry too, but agree with laurie. Also my DP was made redundant a couple of years ago, but is now working and re-training at something he much prefers. Best of luck.

My AF is messing me about now, seems to be just spotting now, so don't think I'm CD1 just yet. Grrr....And I have day 2-5 tests tomorrow (FSH/LH). S'pose best cancel them...

Bettymum · 23/04/2009 16:31

alfies sorry to hear about your DH and your hours hope things pick up for you soon.
Well I am on the 2WW and I'm up one day, down the next. I have got a week or so till I can test, so just have to sit on hands till then.
Lots of babydust to everyone else

Schlumpf · 23/04/2009 16:58

Hey there,

sorry for not keeping you all up to date with my test results, but I did get a BFP when I re-tested a few days ago! I kind of knew - but then sometimes you think that and then AF arrives. Not so this time!

I was really happy but DH went into complete meltdown mad panick over money, number of rooms in the house, car sizes, education, holidays, effect on DS & DD, you name it... . I mean, isn't this what you think about (at least more or less) before 'going for it'? We've been talking about no3 for a couple of years now and he's always been positive about the idea..A few sleepless nights later, he's now agreeing that we can manage...Men!!!

It's been a crazy few days, although I'm really, really pleased that I'm pg, I wouldn't like to repeat the last few days. So, if it's any consolation to you BFNs, there's downsides to getting pg in Cycle 1 as well!!

laurielou · 23/04/2009 17:20

Hey schlumpf that's terrific news, congratulations!!

Slap DH around the face with a wet fish to bring him to his senses!!

Hope you're feeling well, keep us posted, x

donttrythisathome · 23/04/2009 17:52

Schlumpf fantastic news. DH is just panicking - think I would be in the same mode as him, though simultaneously thrilled!

Blocka · 23/04/2009 18:54

Wow schlumpf !!! Thats brilliant! I knew there had t be more BFPs on this bus (if there wasn't I was going to jump off and get a taxi...)

Hey Ladies

Haven't been on for a while but it's sooooo good to see two graduates... CONGRATULATIONS!

Sorry to all of you that have had BFN's recently, however you are all an inspiration with your positive attitudes.

DH seems to be confused now as to whether he wants DC2 as he says with just the one we can afford to give him the best of everything... I don't agree with him though, i'm sure my DS would love a sibling, maybe not straight away (took me 30 years to get on with one of my sisters, but i love her to bits now). Anyway, i'm sure the offer of more frequent BD will twist his arm a little

Just updating as my CD was out by two days.

xxxxxx

Amazing news Schlump! Congrat's. So happy our bus has graduated another winner!
Marla - it all sounds very very good for you. Fingers crossed
yumyum - my dh says that too about just having one! Annoying isn't it! Temptation wins them over though
alfie'smum - sorry to hear about dh. Big hugs. But like someone else said nine months a decent time to get sorted out.
Katlonka - let me know if you found anything to help you resist. I'm cd 23 and did a test this morning. BFN, unsurprisingly! Funny though haven't had lots of my so called symptoms since doing it Think I might be headed to the back of the bus. Hope there'll still be wine and chocolate

sazlocks · 23/04/2009 21:33

hey happy news Schlumpf - big congrats and lovely to have another graduate.

I am quite excited about this month cos I have to go for a blood test on day 21 as I am not sure if I am ovulating. Would be good to know one way or t'other. Had to have clomid to concieve DS so I might be gearing up to re enter fertility treatment world again.

lots of luck to those on 2ww

katlokna · 23/04/2009 22:41

Hi ccpink, I couldn't resist either I'm afraid. CD24 for me and BFN. I have still been having 'symptoms' today but am on Clomid so probably related to that (as were last months sure signs I was pg!). I am thinking I will probably have to switch to the february bus. I have been temping since ov (forgot before ) and it looks a bit promising but am probably deluding myself. My temps so far have been;
1dpo 36.4, 6dpo 36.5
2dpo 36.1, 7dpo 36.5
3dpo 36.0, 8dpo 36.5
4dpo 36.4, 9dpo 36.5
5dpo 36.4, 10dpo 36.5

Can anyone advise as to if this looks promising or not?

donttrythisathome · 24/04/2009 08:19

Morning all, I've updated.

My AF actually hasn't arrived yet - not quite sure what I saw yesterday morning. Its frustrating as I'm sure its on its way and I just oved a bit later than I thought this cycle (in fact EWCM was around for ages after the LH surge). So I'm back at the front of the bus.

Kat - the book I'm reading says take a HPT when the temperatures remain high for 18 dpo.

Yeah, like anyone can wait that long!!!

katlokna · 24/04/2009 08:33

Thanks donttrythisathome. I think AF will probably have arrived by then. I go back to the docs on monday to find out the results of my day 21 blood test. Am almost certain that I ov so it is really frustrating not knowing if DH has got the job done. I think I may have to increase his zinc intake, probably via his food because if I tell him to take supplements he will probably think I have lost the plot. Temp today has stayed the same at 36.5.

How is everyone else this morning?

laurielou · 24/04/2009 08:37

Morning everyone!

I'm bored & fed up waiting for the witch to go & get down to some serious BDing!

Time seems to have stood still.............

Have much high jinx to look forward to this weekend - wedding party this evening & a friend's stag do tomorrow! He's a dear friend of both me & DP - not sure that DP is impressed of me encoaching on his manly territory - which of course is partly why I'm going!!! hehe
