I have done 5 tests. What is wrong with me? You're not pregnant, woman, accept it!!!

wasabipeanut · 27/03/2009 12:54

MrsJ - how many tests do you have in the house?

MrsJoeMcIntyre · 27/03/2009 12:56

5 left.

I swear to God, I am never buying them again. No really, I'm not.

tryingfornumber2 · 27/03/2009 13:03

Can I join you?

We are currently ttc number 2, currently have a dd. Coming to the end of cycle 1, but have done a test today which was negative. Am going to try OPK next month, not sure if it'll help.

wasabipeanut · 27/03/2009 13:14

MrsJ - buying that many was possibly not the best thing to do. They have a siren call and repeatedly seeing BFN's just make you want to stick your head in the oven (and I should know).

Can you put them in a cupboard or drawer you don't use very often and try to forget they are there?

I have 2 cheapies left btw but am not touching them again until I am at least 16 days po in any cycle. I was so good before - don't know why I cracked this time.

Blocka · 27/03/2009 14:52

Haha, I think asking how many tests you have used is like asking a woman how old she is(i.e. we always deduct about 5 years/tests).

I had a pack of ten and they were like a box of chocolates. Couldn't put them down until they were all gone! Despite them ALL saying BFN!

Tryingfornumber2, you and I are in the same boat. I am going to resort to OPKs this month too (have already bought the smiley face version - these tests are costing me more than the bloody baby will!). I think the problem is I fell pg on the first try for both pg's (2nd ended in mc), so I am not used to this BFN malarky. DP is devastated. Not about me not being pg, but that his sperm is not as SUPER as he thought it was following the last 2 successes!! Haha!

tryingfornumber2 · 27/03/2009 14:57

I have also bought the smily face version. Wish AF would arrive so I can get on with this cycle. I conceived dd in cycle 2, so similarly to you, I don't anticipate it taking a long time, which I fear may be my downfall!

I know what you mean about dh - mine was thrilled that it only took two months for dd, he's already muttering about 'firing blanks'. Knob.

pandapop · 27/03/2009 21:18

Hello! Fist time on mumsnet here, am ttc no. 2. mind if i join you? just had early mc last month but very keen to try again! although no clue what cycle length is now, feel a bit all over the place. not sure whether I should get out the ovulation packs yet...

should I be putting down a few more details?

Welcome aboard pandapop

I too am ttc#2, have never been on mumsnet before and had an early mc in Jan - so we are like peas in a pod! My cycle following the mc was about 6 weeks, but then I was straight back to 28 days so it should take you long. Nothing stopping you trying this month either!

Good Luck!!

pandapop · 29/03/2009 14:10

Thank you, Blocka, for adding me to the list. Not sure where cycle is at the moment, but I guess you never know for this month! Really up and down emotionally right now, but I'm blaming the hormones, not myself of course

Any news mrsjoemcintyre?? Has AF made an appearance yet?

donttrythisathome · 29/03/2009 21:30

Ta for updating blocka (love the name by the way - don't know why!)
Do any of you chart temperatures? I've been charting mine using a fahrenheit thermometer, and my temps are on the low side e.g. 96.5 (35.8 celsius) yesterday. The highest last month (only charted half the month) was 98 (36.6). Does anyone else have experience or knowledge of this?
I am reading Toni Weschler's book, Taking Charge of Your Fertility, and she says low temps could be a sign of hypothyroidism. Have an appointment with the nurse next week (also posted in another thread looking for views) so will see what she says, but find my GP surgery fairly crap in general to tell you the truth!
That book is fab by the way - I was such an ignoramus before reading it...still am I s'pose, but with a little more knowledge!
Sorry for boring y'all - welcome aboard to the newcomers!

Blocka · 29/03/2009 22:09

Never tried any of the tempreture malarky, been quite lucky that my first pg happened on the first go.

My only advice is be careful about you read! You end up scaring yourself over nothing. When I was pregnant with my dd I rang the hospital in a panic because the baby got the hiccups about 5 times a day and they lasted for ages - a book I had in the house said it could be down to the baby strangling itself with the cord!! I worried for the rest of my pg.

See what the docs say (or the other threads), but its probably nothing

LuckySalem · 29/03/2009 22:12

Would like to join in but have no idea what to add to your list I'm afraid.

I'm TTC no 2, No idea what cycle and I think I'm on CD 26 but dont know how long my cycles are as I never take notice of them.

donttrythisathome · 29/03/2009 23:46

Thanks Blocka, its good advice not to get too hung up about things you read. Welcome along Lucky. I think the cycle numbers are just the number of cycles you've been trying to get pregnant.

Morning everyone...

Blocka and tryingfornumber2 www.babymad.com is good for cheap Ovulation Prediction Kits (and all the other paraphernalia we feel we need to buy) I've just bought 30 of them!

I had my day 3-5 bloodtest today, not actually sure what they are testing for... anyone know???

OP posts:
laurielou · 30/03/2009 10:57

Morning ladies,

Sorry for those who bitch AF has visited.

Feeling down myself. Looked after friends 3 kids over weekend - tiring, expensive, noisy - FABULOUS! Then home to my tidy, quiet house, just made me feel more empty than ever. Also should've been loads of BD this weekend, which just didn't occur.

Felt nauseous this morning, but that could be the back to work & office politics shenanigans.

Sorry for the miseries!

Large helpings of babydust for all, x

Too late to join? Think I'd be either v end of Dec or start of Jan if I make it this time round.

Snap Georgimama - CD1 for me today too at last after what felt like forever spotting. I'm currently working my way through a pack of Foxs party rings bought for a picnic for ds and friends 2 weeks ago
