Thanks Bubbly

posting in the middle of the night .... I can't sleep (think I'm too excited...).

If anyone is or has been following this thread, they should definitely see there is always hope, after my experiences!!! There were times when I just never thought it would happen. And I have really been through the mill with treatments etc. However, I know that I am also incredibly lucky that IVF worked 1st time .

The one piece of advice I would give to anyone following this thread is not to wait too long if you have been ttc naturally but unsuccessfully, before seeking specialist advice. We waited almost 2 years before starting tests etc. In retropsect, we should only have waited 1 year. The other piece of advice is: have acupuncture!! I really felt so much better, and stronger, after starting acupuncture and am sure it was influential in my BFP.

Night night X

Bubbly ..... its TWINS!!!!!! confirmed on the scan yesterday. can you even believe it? I have been so lucky.
sending you lots and lots of love XXX

ShouldKnowByFriday · 04/01/2007 21:53

Many congratulations Madigan!!!!!!!! How exciting!!!!!!! I don't know if you are being cared for on the NHS or privately but as I am carrying twins I took 1 400g pessary of Cyclogest twice a day which is Progesterone to sustain the pregnancy and 4 weeks ago (am now 18wks) was reduced to 400g x 1 per day. Also was told to take it easy between weeks 24 and 28 as too much strain on the body can result in an early labour. Was told not to lift anything heavy or leave London during weeks 24-28. I hope you have the very best of care and keep posting. Congratulations again!! Was this IVF or IUI, I can't remember.

Madigan · 04/01/2007 21:56

Hi SKBF -

This was IVF - and I am still being mionitored by the clinic every week - I too am on extra progesterone, as well as other medications (as I have slightly elevated natural killer cells). Thank you for all your advice - let;s stay in touch ! XX

madigan, skbf - just read your news CONGRATULATIONS! am so pleased for you.

have not posted for a while since my last appointment with head cheese at manchester fertility clinic....was very disappointing.....never clapped eyes on him before and he'd clearly only looked at my file that morning. basically because my fsh has been consistently elevated he thinks I have no chance of conceiving ever again! and IVF would definitely not work for me! think he was talking crap and don't want to use his clinic again. Too be honest wasn't 100% about doing IVF and was a bit releived when got an 'excuse' not to have to do it.

Have not given up hope and will continue trying natually, I've done it twice before so I don't beleive its impossible for me

Best of luck to you both, you've been through so much and am glad you've finally got what you wanted...and twins at that!

we'll check in now and again to see how you are doing lol x

bubbly1973 · 07/01/2007 16:35

dizzy its good to hear from you but am sorry to see your consultant has the attitude that he does..swine!!

have you been watching the prof winston programme, theres that clinic in london that goes that bit further in doing tests to find out more about fertility problems....quite xpensive though.

think madigan used the clinic, would scroll but awkward with only one hand to type with

keep in touch and im glad you havent totally given up on ttc, good luck and hope apart from ttc all is well with you and dh

Hello

Thanks for your message Bubbly - obviously we are totally thrilled!!! but it does not seem quite real yet, if you know what I mean. I can't believe it is actually happening . I feel great, just a little tired. No morning sickness as yet.... hope it stays that way. I am being monitored very closely by my clinic, and still on lots of drugs, so fingers crossed that all goes well. On Friday I will be 8 weeks pregnant.... and because it is twins my due date is 4 August 2007 (i.e. 37 weeks, instead of 40 weeks).

Hope you are well!!

Dizzy - sorry to hear your consultation did not go so well. The clinic which I went to is the ARGC and it is the best clinic in the country - it was featured in Robert Winston's programme and has the highest national success rates. But, if you don't want to do IVF, then I wondered if you have tried acupuncture? I really recommend it.

Lots of love XXX

Hello Bubbly, SKBF and anyone else following this thread. ...

Just wanted to let you know that, sadly, one of my little twins has not made it .... the scan on Monday (10.5 weeks) showed that it had stopped growing and that its little heart had stopped beating. I was very sad, but am now feeling better and optimistic about my other little one who seems to be v strong and thriving. So fingers crossed that all will be well from now on.

SKBF - how are you doing? How many weeks are you now?

Bubbly - hope all is well with you hon.

XXX

Oh Madigan, so sorry that you lost one of your twins, that is so sad. I'm sure your little one keeps being a strong one, look after yourself xx

Madigan · 02/02/2007 18:44

Thank you for your kind words Bubbly, Coggy and Janus ....

I have my 12 week scan next Friday (9th feb) and will let you know how I am getting on ...

would love to hear how you are all doing?

bubbly1973 · 02/02/2007 22:37

madigan, good luck for your 12week scan, will look out for your post hun

im doing well all things considered...giving up smoking and its hard but feel chuffed with myself as the only time i ever seemed to give up the in 16 years of the bad habit is when i am pregnant, but i have managed to do it without being pregnant and so im chuffed....but arghhhh sometimes i want to kill someone!!

the boys are well and ds2 is nearly 8mths old now, crawling and also has a tooth, soooo cute, time is flying by really quick

before you know it, you will be sucking on that gas and air also wanting to kill someone as you give 'one last push'

OP posts:
Janus · 02/02/2007 23:22

Oh Madigan, good luck for the 12 week scan, I hope after that you can start to relax??
We're in the middle of tests, I have an internal ultrasound and HSG to look forward to in about a week (gee fun!!). After that we should just about have our full set of results in and work from there. I think we're pushing our luck now and maybe have to accept that we have 2 and it's not going to happen again but when I have my mood swings I feel so sad that I'm not in charge of this decision, ie I want another baby. We'll see, I guess.
I am so pleased that you have your little miracle, I wish you the best of strength to carry on and enjoy your pregnancy xx

ShouldKnowByFriday · 06/02/2007 10:22

Hi Madigan, have been wondering how you are. Am sorry to read that you have lost one twin but relieved to read you are still pregnant. Your Ob is fantastic so you will get the best care possible. I presume you are going to the Feotal Med Ctr on Friday where they are also fantastic. The scan is very detailed and you will see so much on their screen. I am there on Friday as well!!!! I shall be 24wks on Friday which seems unbelievable really. I feel them both kick, one's on the left and the other on the right and it's bizarre. Still getting used to the idea of twins but still slightly detached in case something goes wrong.

Good luck with scan and keep posting.

bubbly1973 · 09/02/2007 18:58

madigan, how did the scan go? how are you feeling?

skbf, you had a scan too (i think) so hope all went well
