Hi everyone! Hubby and I are desperately broody and have been for a few years. We're hoping to TTC later this year, we're having to wait til Hubby finishes his degree as we just can't afford to have a baby whilst he's a student. Am wanting to come off the pill round about May, and hopefully TTC about Nov/Dec. Want to come off the pill a few months early as I've been on it for over 14 yrs, and would like to know what its like to have normal periods!

Be nice to know if anyone else is in a similar situation.

sort of nervous but also excited. Trying not to wish the days away. We've just booked the long-haul trip I mentioned a while upthread for September. While I know I'd like to be pregnant before then, if I am not, it won't be a bad thing and we'll just resume afterwards (or conceive while away!)

HoumousMonster · 15/04/2009 10:14

I'm totally with you on the nerves. I keep thinking that I'm totally mad and it's a silly idea.

I've even come up in tiny little blisters which only happens when I'm stressed. (Though to be fair my mum turns up in 12 days so it could be both!)

WorrisomeHeart · 15/04/2009 18:45

Oh, glad it's not just me. I keep torturing myself thinking, if I'm nervous, maybe this is the wrong decision? Crazy chick - in my saner moments I know it's just because it's such a lifechanging decision to make.

Medee - exciting about holiday, and just think of how relaxed (post jetlag of course..) you will be when you get back!
HM - good luck with the impending mother!

Hobnob76 · 15/04/2009 21:10

HM - I know just what you mean about the nerves! I swing from TTC being the most fab idea ever to wondering what the hell we're doing, it's such a big thing! Glad I'm not the only one feeling like this!

Gah! Your're making me so broody! I started a very similar thread on here about 3 years ago now which turned into a long time ttc (but we got there in the end) and our gorgeous little boy.

Now we're talking about ttc no.2 but I'm bridesmaid for my sister in August and she'd KILL me if I was pregnant then!

Anyway, dh and I are going to start the whole temps, ov sticks, decaf and booze ban after the summer hols - it all sounds so romantic doesn't it!

Me and the friends I met through the baby clinic are now trying to co-ordinate our maternity leave - oh, I loved my maternity leave!

Good luck to everyone!

Baronessvongogo · 20/04/2009 16:26

Hi everyone,

Can I please join you. I am 27, getting married in December 2009, honeymoon to Las Vegas in January 2010 and then OH and I have decided to TTC soon after that, it seems like such a long way away

Medee · 20/04/2009 17:30

I realised today thatr I am less than 2 months away from my final pill now - eek!

WorrisomeHeart · 21/04/2009 19:09

Welcome decafgirl and Baronessvongogo!!

Medee - thats really exciting! I am due on AF at the end of the week (sorry for TMI!) and can't help thinking that I might only have one more for a long time!

Medee · 21/04/2009 19:54

I scared my husband last night by pointing out that if I got pregnant at the first go, we could be parents within a year!

Medee · 24/04/2009 09:10

Today, took the last pill of pack 4/6 - two more packets, two more periods, and that's it, we're contraception-free!

Medee · 24/04/2009 09:11

actually, three more periods, but who's counting!

HoumousMonster · 24/04/2009 15:40

I've started counting by ovulations. (We've been taking temperatures and it looks like things are normal which is a good start) So just two more to go! It's getting harder to resist, but it's only three months.

More frustrating is Mum turning up on Monday. I've hidden all the pills and pregnancy books (even found one on pregnacy and disability I forgot I had) and next I'll be deleting tabs and bookmarks on the computer. Hopefully I won't lose this thread in the process!

Hobnob76 · 25/04/2009 22:58

Wow HM, would your mum really go to the lengths of looking at your tabs and bookmarks on the computer ? Bet its hard having to hide everything!

Hi - can I join too? Have 18mth old DS, but going to start TTC around August / September time. Am tracking my cycle at the moment as it is 36 days ish and length varies each time. Soo excited though ... although slightly nervous too as DS was ill when he was first born and petrified this might happen again

HoumousMonster · 26/04/2009 15:03

Hey Hobnob, it's more that she'll use me laptop to check her email and look things up. Once you are on someone elses computer it's easy to accidentally look at wrong tabs or flick through the bookmarks looking for something.

Boulders · 26/04/2009 15:58

I am now following this thread. We will start to TTC in Jan next year so I am having my coil taken out in Dec. Just trying to cope with the broodiness for now.....

Medee · 27/04/2009 18:59

Did you survive your mum's visit, Houmous?

Medee · 02/05/2009 08:36

Packet 5 of 6 started today.

HoumousMonster · 02/05/2009 09:49

She left yesterday, and so I survived part one of three. She's been unusually quiet though so I'm still rather wary.

I also discovered this week that my bank has seriously broken the data protection act with my details. So I've had to spend two days in the bank trying to sort things out. It looks like it's going to take a while.

Medee · 02/05/2009 10:43

oh dear, that's very bad news.

WorrisomeHeart · 03/05/2009 15:39

Welcome to the newbies! And HM - glad that your mum's visit went well, not so glad about the whole bank malarkey. Hope it all gets sorted out soon..

Well, I have some exciting news (well for me anyway ) - we've basically decided to throw all caution to the wind and start TTCing a month early. Am very excited but trying to be relaxed - had first BD sans protection this weekend, but that was just for fun, as not OVing yet this cycle. Thanks for all your support ladies and I'll look forward to when we are all posting birth announcements!!

Medee · 03/05/2009 17:22

Wayhey, WH! I'd love to do the same, but have only two months to go, so not long. We planned June for a good reason. Good luck to you.

So what happens after this thread - the TTC threads seem so blooming busy, I'm not sure I can keep up, or understand the acronyms!

sophieandbelly · 03/05/2009 17:56

hi girls! can i join u all!?

i also am waiting b4 we ttc again, we have a 19 month old (almost same as u likessleep!) and r thinking sep/oct would be a good time to start.
mainly cos i sufferd with spd (condition that effects ur pelvis in preg) very painful and had to give up work at 28 weeks, and just lay on sofa and rest etc, could hardly walk some days.
obviously i would find that very hard having a little one and possibly getting it again (the chances r increased if u had it with 1st pregnancy and the symptoms can start at 12 weeks 2nd time round!!!!!)
so iam on a mission to get myself slim and healthy so the preg hopefully wnt be as hard.

with evie i stopped taking my pill xmas eve and was preg 2 weeks later!!

but u can never take these things for granted it could well take us months and months nxt time, hope it doesnt!

ive been reading this thread for ages now, it is exciting isnt it!! as someone said its like having a secret, especially the first time! we didnt tell a soul, as u never no how long it will take i was quite sure i didnt want people keep asking me so has it happend etc, would drive u mad eh!!!
good luck broody mamas to b!!

WorrisomeHeart · 03/05/2009 18:22

Lol Medee, I went and had a read of some of the TTC threads and thought maybe not quite yet! I need an 'have just jumped into the craziness of ACTUALLY TTC and don't want to go the full cycle day counting, sympton-spotting, temp taking route yet thread' Don't know who I'm trying to kid really! Might just be a chicken and hang out here with you guys for a bit!

Hobnob76 · 05/05/2009 21:41

HM - glad you survived your mums visit!

WH - Wow! Fab news, enjoy the next step, I'm quite jealous that we already have some graduates from this thread, hope all goes well. Be nice to still see you here, please let us know how you get on.

S&B - Welcome! I love having the little secret about when we're going to be TTC, but finding it so hard not to tell anyone though!

I've got one and half packs of pills left, then we're onto the comdoms to see if I get a normal cycle back.
