Hi everyone! Hubby and I are desperately broody and have been for a few years. We're hoping to TTC later this year, we're having to wait til Hubby finishes his degree as we just can't afford to have a baby whilst he's a student. Am wanting to come off the pill round about May, and hopefully TTC about Nov/Dec. Want to come off the pill a few months early as I've been on it for over 14 yrs, and would like to know what its like to have normal periods!

Be nice to know if anyone else is in a similar situation.

hello all

i've been absent because of a house move. This has been the 4th move in 18 months but this time we have bought a house and we're staying put for a very long time!

I'm getting impatient and don't want to wait until December to come off the pill. I can remember how frustrating it was last time waiting for my body to fall into a cycle. It didn't do that until after i had my son. I did take a herbal remedy to help my body along and the change in my CM was very noticeable, especially the month i conceived when i also felt a cramping pain in one side which i presume was me ovulating. In the end i couldn't wait for regular periods so i just got on with it. It did cause some confusion over my due dates though......and ds was born 4 weeks early by the doctors dates and only two and half weeks early by mine.

I'm a little nervous.....unsure really how having a new baby will affect ds. He says he doesn't like babies, and i guess because i am with a new partner it feels strange in a way too. I share custody of ds and so i am anxious to get this right as far as he is concerned, i don't want him to feel like he is being replaced.
DP is very broody......which is making me even more impatient!!

Hollyoaks · 12/08/2009 21:57

Hi queenrolo, how old is your ds? I'm sure he will come around to the idea of a new baby in time but it must be a source of worry for you.

Your ovulation signs are exactly like mine, pain in one side and lots of cm, once my cycle got back to normal after coming off the pill I was pg within one month. However like you my cycle didnt get really regular till after dd was born.

Evening! TTC date returned to late sept/early October - so happy!

Turns out I am immune to rubella and was called back for almost no reason because the stupid nurse failed to note that my liver function test results are always wonky because of the meds I was on. Get to the doctor and say 'i'm here about my rubella' and get this blank look as if to say "and...?"

Very happy about the result (and not having to wait an extra month) but very peeved with the surgery. This is the second time I've been called back for no reason

anyway, hope you are all well. I'm at CD 28 and pretty much on track for another 34 day cycle - I think!

Kaylo · 12/08/2009 22:20

Hi everyone - AF is here - bizarre to be looking forward to it I know but this is the last time I'll be happy to see her because I will be starting to TTC next week! OMG next week!!! One week tomorrow to be quite exact - which by my studies (errr.....one month observation) should be the week before ovulation. So yes MrsP I guess I am officially TTC

Hobnob Thank you so much for letting me stay - this thread has meant a great deal to me and would love to keep you all updated as it seems I'm one of the first to 'graduate' to TTC.

Curly at your surgery - hpow incompetent. But great news all in all - no having to wait an extra month which can't be bad.

Kalo12 Who are you? Didn't realise Kaylo was your name mwa ha ha ha....and now it's mine

Hi to everyone else - hope everyone is well.

Ooooh, I forgot to tell you all - my cousin had a baby on Monday night - a boy named Marcus Jemal (her dh is American) 8lbs 10ozs, in the end by c-section as she wasn't labouring well, or he wasn't descending - something like that. Just thought I'd share that baby related news with you - it made me exceptionally broody so I apologise if it does the same to you.

Hollyoaks - ds turned 4 last week. I always wanted to have my children close together, but life didn't mean for that to be, there is a 4 year gap between my and my sister and we don't get on. Similar circumstances in a way as we have different dad's but my dad was no-where to be seen......

i have to buy a new car this weekend, mine failed it's MOT and not worth getting repaired really. It's a pain though as i really need a vehicle so i can collect and drop off ds so i have to get something this weekend.

There goes the savings

hefner · 13/08/2009 17:03

Hi everyone,

I'd like to join your thread even though we won't be TTC for quite a while yet. We're both incredibly broody but to fit in with my job it would be best to wait until about April/May 2010. Don't know how we'll manage to wait that long, and I need an outlet to let the broodiness out, so this thread seemed perfect!

queenrollo · 13/08/2009 21:31

welcome hefner! this thread is great isn't it, i haven't told anyone in real life our plans to ttc next year so it's great to come in here and be broody!

mumandlovingit · 13/08/2009 21:44

excited as we're ttc after my next period which is due in 7 days.im so nervous at the same time though. our dcs are 7 and 8 and i dont carry babies very well (mc and early labour) and also dont labour very well (both babies in distress and one shoulder dystocia) so im trying to stay positive but there's an ache in my heart worrying that something will go wrong.

i know the children will love having a brother or sister but i worry about how i will cope with three of them.school holidays and even getting them to school on time inbetween feeds/changing etc!!

probably things you've all worried about yourselves. we both really want another baby but i know once we're actually trying i will be so nervous to be pregnant again and so scared when i take a test.is it just me or does anyone else have those feelings?

Hollyoaks · 14/08/2009 07:16

Hefner welcome to the thread, I dont know if it alleviates the broodiness or enhances it, but its nice to talk babies, ovulation, af, cm etc and not be boring the pants of someone.

Mumandlovingit your feelings are absolutely normal. My af is due in 12 days so we will be ttc at around the same time and I am so excited to have another dc but terrified of morning sickness again, labour and another assisted delivery and how crap I felt aftrwards but I am so excited to get that 'feeling' that comes when you fall in love with you LO. So I to will have really mixed emotions when it comes to taking the pg test. You also have a small age gap between your first two which must have been scary for you at the time but you got through it. Also if the oldest two are at school that might make juggling three dc easier than if they were all much littler.

Hollyoaks · 14/08/2009 07:20

Queenrolo You never know your ds and new dc may be best friends no matter what the age gap, you'll just have to wait and see. My dm and her sister are 9 years apart and best of friends now, just not so much growing up. Saying that m and my ds are 14 months apart and we hated each other when we were kids and have only really got on in our twenties since having our own dc. Maybe its more of a personality thing then an age gap thing IYSWIM.

Kaylo · 14/08/2009 09:07

Hello everyone

welcome hefner and mumanlovingit

Well it's my last day of AF today, so next week all being well we'll be TTC.
Only thing is, dh's Nana is really ill and they're expecting her to pass away today so don't think dh is gonna be up to doing anything as theres likely to be a funeral at some point next week[ish]

mumandlovingit I'm having similar worries to you [my dc are 3 and 4] with getting children to/from school between feeds and naps etc. But the good things outweigh the bad things I think. (or maybe my sense is clouded by pretty baby thoughts...)

Anyhow - I hope everyone is well. Can't believe theres a few of us actually starting to TTC in the next couple of weeks!!!

And so starts the rollercoaster of TTC.....

Hollyoaks · 14/08/2009 10:35

Kaylo I'm jealous and I'm only a couple of weeks behind you. I hope the ttc rollercoaster is not like the one at Blackpool Pleasure Beach and is a smoother ride for all on board.

I have now started reading baby names threads and have found the perfect name for a baby girl, I'm sooooo broody.

Thanks for the welcome queenrollo, Hollyoaks and Kaylo. Good luck to everyone planning to TTC soon, I'll enjoy popping in to see how everyone is getting on. Can't wait till it's my turn!

Hobnob76 · 18/08/2009 08:36

Hi and welcome hefner! Kaylo you're welcome, be nice to know how you're getting on

Curly how annoying about your doc appt! Glad you don't have to wait the extra month though, means you'll be able to get started sooner!

Well, I've got my 2nd period, I think from my dates, I'm on a 32 day cycle, yay!

Hope everyone is well.

Good morning and welcome to hefner and mumandlovingit

As a first timer I cannot relate to any of the stories/fears about kids getting on except to say that my gran told mum to have my bro and I close together cause we wouldn't fight. We're 18months apart and that was a nightmare! Small town, small school shared friends - not great as we'd end up 'with' each other's friends! Don't really speak much these days, but birth of nephew helped a lot. It's not that we hate each other or fight or anything, we just don't keep much contact, but it's improving through SIL, who I think is ace! But then again, other siblings with the same age gap get on like a house on fire, like DH and BIL.

kaylo don't you dare leave us!

how do hobnob, thanks - I can't wait to get started now! Keep dangling the "I should get bigger boobs" carrot in front of DH at the mo!

Second period off the pill just finished. and I'm on my last full cycle before TTC - wwooooo hooooooo!

bebejones · 18/08/2009 10:09

Just started my own thread then discovered you guys!! Can I join?

DH and I are planning on TTC very early in the New Year (sort of depends on AF!!). The wait is killing me! 4 1/2 months and counting! Everyone we know seems to be having or have just had babies! Our DD just turned 1 and we want to have a couple fairly close in age, just personally I could not cope with 2 under 2!! Not told anyone we are planning on number 2 at all, probably won't tell at all in RL! Not entirely sure how it would be met IYSWIM!

Good luck to all those TTC or starting to now!

Hollyoaks · 20/08/2009 21:57

Hi all, this thread has gone very quiet of late. I hope you haven't all left in fear of the DM publishing you posts!

Anyway, thought I would let you know that af arrived today, (one day early) and I guess I have graduated from waiting to conceive to ttc . Hopefully it won't be much longer for most of you and you'll be on the due in 'insert month' threads before you know it. I'm hoping to join the June 10 thread all going well.

bebejones welcome to the thread, if your really broody heres the place to talk baby names and clothes.

Curly I bet your pleased you can ttc that month earlier, and extra 31 days would have been torture.

x

CurlyCasper · 21/08/2009 08:28

Hello all

Hollyoaks , thanks for getting this thing moving again - been a bit lazy recently TBH.
Are you going to stick with us and tell us how you're getting on TTC?

welcome bebejones we all feel the pain of waiting together here - so you should be right at home x

Hollyoaks · 21/08/2009 15:44

Curly I'll keep you updated, just may not be as regular as I'm going on holiday in one week and then back to work the week after . Starting to feel slightly nervous now, exactly the same way I felt first time round. I couldn't believe I was actually ttc and then the shock when I found out I was pg! Strange to feel shocked when your actively ttc but still very shocked.

Hope everyone else is well and hasn't got too long to wait. Kaylo how are you getting on, tired yet .

CurlyCasper · 22/08/2009 17:45

Numbers crunched, meds researched and well, we're not waiting any more!!!

Came off most of my meds start of July, but had already been off the worst one (in terms of getting PG) several weeks earlier for other reasons. So this avo we decided we were cool to just get on with it - and we are. It's very exciting to be joining kaylo and hollyoaks Gues I'd better go and find the right 'bus' to get on

x

Hollyoaks · 22/08/2009 17:52

Good luck Curly, me and Kaylo are on the 'twenties ttc' board if that applies to you, but good luck, bet your excited. Keep us informed and enjoy.

CurlyCasper · 22/08/2009 17:58

I'm 30 - so guess I won't be joining you! Going to keep this thread 'watched' and drop in on you all - you're great company!

bebejones · 22/08/2009 20:16

I know I'm new...but still very excited for all you TTC'ers!!! Good Luck Curly!

Had a cuddle with DH's Aunties newborn today! Made the brrodiness even worse! Seems so long ago since my DD was that small, and it's only been a year!

CurlyCasper · 23/08/2009 22:16

Thanks bebejones can't wait to have that feeling with my own child for the first time x
