Hi everyone! Hubby and I are desperately broody and have been for a few years. We're hoping to TTC later this year, we're having to wait til Hubby finishes his degree as we just can't afford to have a baby whilst he's a student. Am wanting to come off the pill round about May, and hopefully TTC about Nov/Dec. Want to come off the pill a few months early as I've been on it for over 14 yrs, and would like to know what its like to have normal periods!

Be nice to know if anyone else is in a similar situation.

Morning all

medee can't believe AF still isn't here! Hope she comes soon!
Oh, and note to self .... BUY AND START TAKING FOLIC ACID!!!!

I know I'm up to date with my vaccinations as had them all done last year so am covered on that front.

I'm desperate to get started now - really starting to lose patience. Found myself contemplating how best to convince dh to start now and that a couple of weeks early is neither here nor there! Then realised that ov has passed and there really was no point lol Will have to learn to wait - not long now!

Have a good Tuesday ladies

CurlyCasper · 04/08/2009 09:26

kaylo you say "there was no point" but surely if ov has passed there's no harm in have some unprotected fun? I think there's every point in doing that and you're right, it's neither here nor there... enjoy!

Kaylo · 04/08/2009 09:40

curly

I'll pounce on him tonight maybe!

AddictedtoCrunchies · 04/08/2009 10:07

Kaylo - that was my plan last night but Zzzzzzzzz

Hollyoaks · 04/08/2009 16:06

Kaylo enjoy your night of unprotected fun Who knows maybe you'll get a little surprise!

As for the rubella vaccine, DD is only 18mo so I would think that my immunity must still be sufficient from when I was pg with her. Does anyone know how long the vaccine is effective for? I only had mine () 15years ago, oooh maybe I should get it checked.

Medee · 04/08/2009 18:14

It's 20 years since I mine, I think I might phone the surgery, though I guess they have more than enough to do at the moment with swine flu!

CurlyCasper · 04/08/2009 19:18

I thought the GPs might be too busy too, but with them trying to keep swine flu folks out, it wasn't a problem. Reckon my school rubella was about 18 years ago.

happy pouncing kaylo

Just found out my SIL is due to have her second in April. excited for her and just a wee bit jealous

PrincessLilly · 04/08/2009 19:48

OneLonelySock and Hobnob I need to get myself on a diet too. One thing that worked really well for me last year was WeightWatchers- I was doing really well on it, and was hardly feeling like I was on a diet- but then went on holiday and couldn't get myself into the routine of writing down what I was eating and counting points. I've been meaning to go to a meeting for a couple of weeks now- but I always get held up at work. Ahhhhh....my summer holiday is only 10 days away now- how am I going to fit into my bikini????

Hobnob76 · 04/08/2009 22:05

OLS thanks, might have to have a look at some of those threads.

I know what you mean PrincessLilly, I can always find something better to do too! I've been watching what I'm eating since last week, trying not to eat stuff between meals at the mo.

pfft!

no chance of enticing dh to bed tonight...he's playing pro-evo on some talent building football contest...thing

no pouncing happening tonight!

MEN!!!!!

He says maybe after this game....GRRRRRR!

Hope everyone has had a nice day - I'm gonna hit the chocs in a last indulgence before I join you ladies in a weight loss group Nee to really now even though I'm not too bothered, pregnancy is uncomfortable enough without being a bigger than normal bird with zero energy. I'd settle for just having energy!!

Kaylo · 04/08/2009 22:16

who invented playstation3's anyway?

A man no doubt!!!!!

Ok........ranty vent over

CurlyCasper · 05/08/2009 08:40

And that's why I've said there's no way a PS3 is entering our house! He's got a PS2 already, that will have to do. No greater distractions allowed

Dh has a Wii which is usually ok but as soon as we get company which includes kids or another bloke its on. Wouldnt mind if it didnt involve jumping round the living room so much .

Just did an OPK which I had left over from ttc dd and got a positive this morning exactly 14cd from last af. So if all goes well I'll get af in 17 days, have a weeks holiday and then be on the ttc wagon, wohoo.

I feel like I've just wrote in a secret code that only MNers will be able to crack

Kaylo · 05/08/2009 09:37

Morning Ladies

Hows everyone?

Hollyoaks Are we strting to TTC at the same time - ish? Think you're just a couple of weeks after me....I'm 20th Aug?

2wks and 1 day for me I posted on the May2010 thread in preparation

Happy [rainy] Wednesday....

Hollyoaks · 05/08/2009 09:48

kaylo If all goes smoothly with this cycle af should be here around the 22nd August and I will be ovulating at the start of September, roughly on my 5th wedding anniversary. So, I may get my honeymoon baby 5 years to late.

So, I think we are roughly at the same point but using an ovulation calculator puts my due date (hopeful) at the start of June.

CurlyCasper · 05/08/2009 13:13

hollyoaks it really does feel like code - but the message is clear! Lucky you, being so regular and organised.

My temps are so wonky I bought some OPKs on ebay last night. Problem is, I'll go through them at a hell of rate if I can't work out when to test! oh, the joys...

I've read something about grapefruit juice and CM, so might have to get drinking to get some better indicators. I'd just like to know if I am actually ovulating or if 17 years on the pill has screwed me over.

Happy sunny Weds from here!

Hollyoaks · 05/08/2009 14:12

Curlycasper I've been lucky with my cycle since dd was born but the pill screwed my cycle up terribly when ttc her. On monitoring your cycle though, I dont check my temps but my cm. It becomes really obvious when I'm ovulating and maybe that would be more helpful for you.

CurlyCasper · 05/08/2009 14:51

Thanks hollyoaks I am trying to do both temps and CM, but CM seems as wonky as temps. I've read that the grapefruit juice drinking helps with production of more CM, and I'm hoping if there's more of it, it will be easier to tell the difference!

Sorry if this is TMI, but I'm also unsure of the definition of EWCM. Cooked or raw? Clear, or actually white? Or a bit of both perhaps, like when the egg has just gone in the pan...

Not that mine is the same any two days running at the mo!

Hollyoaks · 05/08/2009 14:59

Well curlycasper as long as you dont mind tmi, I start to get more and more as I get closer to ovulation until eventually there is quite a lot of raw egg white type cm. I wear a panty liner as it can get quite wet down there . So, I would say it was clear in colour rather than white but its more the volume that makes it apparent. This only lasts about 3 days and then reduces in volume until af arrives.

Hope that helps

Oh,I also get some lower abdominal cramping fora couple of days as well.

CurlyCasper · 05/08/2009 16:03

hmmm thanks hollyoaks, plenty to look out for there. TMI much appreciated in this case!

Medee · 05/08/2009 18:51

afternoon all! I have news, my period finally arrived last night, day 43!

CurlyCasper · 05/08/2009 20:13

yeeeeeaaayyyy! About time too, Medee. Hopefully it'll get shorter from now on...

Kaylo · 05/08/2009 21:40

Hollyoaks We're a little different I guess...my af due [if she's on time] on 12th which is next Wednesday, so am starting TTC the week before ovulation.

medee Finally! Day 43?!? Goodness me...heres hoping for a shorter cycle next time for you

I'll also second what hollyoaks said about detecting ovulation...I didn't want to buy a thermometer for temping as am totally crap and useless at stuff like that - same with opk's although I'm getting better. I tend to wait until I have the crampy sensation, then test, if negative I'll keep an eye out for ewcm which as hollyoaks said is a clear indication [usually] of ovulation.

Hope everyones well - nothing at all to report here

Medee · 05/08/2009 22:04

so, when do you reckon I might ovulate? 14 days time, give or take a couple of days?

Kaylo · 05/08/2009 22:06

Hmmmm, not sure about that one medee....maybe do some opk's in a couple of weeks and see how it goes?

Tough one with such a long cycle.
