Hi everyone! Hubby and I are desperately broody and have been for a few years. We're hoping to TTC later this year, we're having to wait til Hubby finishes his degree as we just can't afford to have a baby whilst he's a student. Am wanting to come off the pill round about May, and hopefully TTC about Nov/Dec. Want to come off the pill a few months early as I've been on it for over 14 yrs, and would like to know what its like to have normal periods!

Be nice to know if anyone else is in a similar situation.

erk, Hobnob, it is a long time since I had thrush, but I remember a nasty discharge with it.

I'm fine, had lovely and tipsy night out with husband last night (so much for giving up alcohol!) Still no period.

OneLonelySock · 26/07/2009 10:21

I'd def get it looked into Hobnob, If it's thrush it'll be easily dealt with. Tight trousers + Bike riding + Tampons = always used to do it for me. So no more Olivia Newton-John style trousers for you Hobnob!

I'm grand, had a huggge lie in this morning, (slept through a golf lesson) and was bought breakfast in bed. Think other half is a little grumpy though as I continually woke him up by breating on his neck all night.

How's you?

(Crossed fingers for your AF Medee)

OneLonelySock · 26/07/2009 10:24

um, that should have been breathing on his neck (not berating or beating)

MrsDmamee · 26/07/2009 14:32

finished my last pill in pack on friday(last pack for the foreseeable future)..now its time to play the waiting game

sleeplessinstretford · 26/07/2009 15:36

sticks head over parapet
can i come late to this party? i have had confirmation dp that i can definitely have another baby but he's not going to get me pregnant until after Xmas.
Have 2 dd's-one will be 15 and the other will be 2 by then meaning she'll be at part time nursery when baby 3 rocks up...
my best mate also has plans for her next baby at the same-ish time,i don't work so no problem re career-i just hope it happens soon though as i don't want another honking great gap between babies,so,am i in or what?

MrsDmamee · 26/07/2009 15:57

sure why not, welcome sleepless
i know what you mean by the huge gaps

ive a 12 year old and a 3 year old...so fingers crossed baby #3 appears in the next year or so

sleeplessinstretford · 26/07/2009 16:00

i seem to conceive easily (some might say miraculously) but am worried that now i actually want to have a baby i'll struggle.I also think that if i've not conceived by summer time 2010 i might not go for a third-have been a bit spoiled in the past. We're not using anything now other than condoms so can just go for it as soon as we want-only thing stopping us is cash!

MrsDmamee · 26/07/2009 16:06

snap..i concieved way too easy with my 1st and 2nd, so im guessing now that im in my 30s it will take a bit longer. So im not getting my hopes up for anything to happen this year.
cash wise, im resigned to the fact ill have no foreign hols for the next 4 years anyways..

Angelfifi · 26/07/2009 16:33

Hi mrsDamamee and sleeplessinstretford i usually am able to conceive easily, while trying for our last dc we thought it would happen quickly but it took us a year - the longest ever, even when we tryed to concieve no 1 it didn't take that long!! You could casually try but not if that makes sense so if things don't happen you won't be to gutted untill the time you really want to try - if that all makes sense!!!

sleeplessinstretford · 26/07/2009 17:11

the 4 pregnancies i have had have not been planned. my last pregnancy last year happened when i was breast feeding AND on the pill...unfortunately it didn't result in a baby. i worry that if i actively 'try' iyswim i will be disappointed, that said we absolutely can't have another one really until late summer/september onwards so being lacksadaisical is not really an option either just in case it happens immediately! i am nearly 37 now though so maybe things will slow down?

Kaylo · 26/07/2009 18:20

Hi
welcome sleepless - loving the name!!!

Can't really play when it comes to large age gaps - my dc's are 3 and 4, so technically the biggest age gap I'll have with my kids is 3 years (assuming I fall pg fairly soon after starting TTC).
I was the youngest child in my siblings tho with my brother being 13 and sister being 17 when I was born - they are now 37 and 41!! My sister is older than MiL's mum!!

With regards to falling pg quickly - I guess I do - with dd I wasn't trying, just young and careless. With ds we decided early on to start TTC #2 but seemed to take ages - in fact was about 4 months! Which feels like forever when you have a stash of home testing kits tempting you!

Is everyone ok? I'm practically sleep-walking lol!!! Sooooo tired.

Catch ya laters girls xxx

Medee · 26/07/2009 20:34

Evening all! My friend had her baby today - #3! Nothing to report for me, still no period. Grr, I want to get going now.

Kaylo · 26/07/2009 21:51

OOoooh - congratulations to friend of Medee!!!!

Hoping AF turns up soon for you medee - she's being a pain in the arse isnt she????

queenrollo · 26/07/2009 22:06

evening all - have decided to stop taking my pill after Christmas and see what happens. Hoping it doesn't take as long as last time for my body to settle into a cycle, but this time i will only have been on the pill for two years (last time was 12)
DP says it still hasn't sunk in that we're really going to try for a baby! Not sure how ds will feel about it, he doesn't like babies...when i asked him why he said 'they're noisy'....which in view of how noisy he is made me really laugh

Kaylo · 26/07/2009 22:59

Wow after Christmas...plenty of time for your dp to get used to the idea!

new year, new plans...

I remember when I was counting down the months - from 7 months before TTC, and now it's only 4 weeks away!! Am soooo excited - just can't wait!!!
My dh still hasnt got his head round it fully - kind of in acceptance stage at the mo. Don't think he's put it on a time scale like I have so doesn't see it as close as it really is, my theory anyway

xxx

decafgirl · 27/07/2009 22:00

I'd like to confess that I'm started to get excited about TTC WAY too early...

I just happened to pick up the new autumn/winter mothercare catalogue yesterday

I just happened to slip a copy of Pregnancy and Birth into my trolley at Tesco today

I've been monitoring my (very umpredictable) cycles for 4 months now

I'm taking a multivitamin to help my cycles...they just happen to have a large dose of folic acid in them

I don't want to get pg till FEBRUARY!!! How can I be this obsessed already! I did not realise I was this broody!

Oh God, no one tell my husband!

CurlyCasper · 28/07/2009 08:22

hello, hello, hello and welcome - you busy bunch!

Interesting to hear your tales of different (or not) rates of conception.

As a first-timer I cannot compare. decaf are you a first timer too? I'm pretty obsessed now. It's been on my mind for a while, but it was only in June that we had the conversation and decided to go for it - and now all guns are blazing in preparation. I've even started a names thread cause I knoe DH and I have very different ideas! Also gives me something to focus on.

I have bought a book and the old folic acid/vits, but no magazines or catalogues - that would terrify him. Mind you, MN and store websites do the trick anyway

CurlyCasper · 28/07/2009 08:58

OLS not sure, hunting for something not too crazy but with a river/water meaning at the mo. Not keen on suggestions such as Thames and Oxbow! It has to be subtle, but have the meaning there IYSWIM

So far I have Mara, Clodagh, Isis, Nixie (and poss Tallulah/lula, if we are brave!) for girls

Innes (pr Inis) for a boy. Douglas and Abhainn (pr Avin and gaelic for river) discounted by DH

DH not really had a say on many so far and I should say that I've only been looking since Sunday evening!

My thread is here

CurlyCasper · 28/07/2009 09:00

re the stock in the loft OLS !!

decafgirl · 28/07/2009 09:05

I LOVE that you have toys in the loft! You can always say a friend 'donated' them if your other half finds them, looking for the xmas decorations!! I have to confess I have bought a gorgeous sleepsuit and matching hat in the last month or so!

CurlyCasper I'm not a first timer this would be our 2nd go at TTC. It took us a year to get our lovely boy so I'm not anticipating an easy ride this time round either...the friends I've met since having him are all going to be trying for #2 in the next 6 months or so too - we're hoping to all be on mat leave together again! Sadly, they all seem to be part of the 'got pg on the first go' gang so knowing my luck they'll all be back at work just as I conceive!

Aaagghh!! xx

Kaylo · 28/07/2009 09:09

Helloooooo...

yep OLS just 4 weeks! Got my first +OPK y'day - felt like thats another big step forward - am hoping the next time I get a +test - it will be a different test And at your toy-buying antics They were definitely an investment!!

Curly My dh is mortally afraid of baby websites and MN. I've been watching a thread for the July09 mums and I tell him each one of them has their baby (or babies!) and he just grunts at me. lol.

Decaf Your secret is safe with us I have the last mothercare catalogue and also babies us! Haven't gone for magazines as I've never read them before now apart from the hospital waiting rooms for scans, gtt (glucose tolerance test) etc.

Has anyone else thought of names they would consider naming their baby? My dh has to be convinced of a good name otherwise he's end up with football stars names or something lol

4wks 4wks 4wks 4wks!!!!

Actually I'm not excited at all.......yeah right! Am wishing the time away til next AF cos that will be the last one before babydancing commences!!!! WooHoo....

How is everyone? xxxx

MrsPigeon · 29/07/2009 07:33

hello ladies! wow, this thread has really taken off. Hello to all the new people .

I'm back from a couple of weeks away - we were camping most of the time so I was grateful when my period didn't turn up. Although by the time it had got to 42 days yesterday I was starting to feel a bit anxious ... I'd done a test so knew I wasn't pg but worrying that periods gone for ever ... then this morning, there it was! Can't quite work out if I've got an extremely short or extremely long cycle at the moment, given that I had some bleeding halfway through, but hey ho. Medee have you had anything yet?

decaf I am just the same with vitamins and things - just started taking a supplement for hair and nails which just happens to have 400mg of folic acid...

wow Kaylo only four weeks!! Hurrah!!

Kaylo · 29/07/2009 10:06

MrsP welcome back! Did you have a good time? I've never been camping so am well jealous!!
Strange about AF tho - she's a funny creature in general tho, does what she pleases most of the time just to upset us!

I worked out exactly how long there is left to start TTC and it's actually 3wks and 1day!!! Even more excited than I though possible cos it's closer than I thought! Even dh is looking forward to it now - although I suspect he wants the whole pg/birth ordeal out of the way sooner than later....wish he'd thought of that 8months ago!!!!!! Grrrr...still smiling tho

How is everyone - I'm sorry to go on so much about me, I'm just so excited that it's just around the corner.
Medee any sign yet?

God I wish I didn't have to go to work!
Cya later everyone - love and hugs to all!!

p.s Curly have posted on your name thread about your suggested names - there are some fantastic ones!!!

Hobnob76 · 29/07/2009 23:51

Hi all!

Pleased to say that the sore foof is much better , not sure what it was that caused it though. It def wasn't thrush though. I suspect that it might have been some new tampons, maybe the bleach in them didn't agree!

Just had my lovely 9 month old nephew and my sis to stay, was just lovely to get loads of baby snuggles (until he pooped in the bath one night and I had to scoop it out!) I didn't realise just how tiring LO's can be though!
