I'm 23 and we're going to try from next month. I've got a huge fear of struggling to get pregnant so just after an idea of what a realistic time scale/range would be.

Everyone is different. You are young so try not to stress and also don't expect it to happen first try ( though it can!)

Good luck and enjoy the trying!

bubblebell1 · 12/01/2009 12:53

ds1 1st month off the pill. then used depo injection as contraceptive. stopped using that and 9 months later was preg with ds2. on 2nd cycle ttc now.

Lulumama · 12/01/2009 12:55

i think you should allow 6 - 12 months as a realistic goal.

are your periods regular?

blametheparents · 12/01/2009 12:55

Remember - it can happen the first month! This fact kind of passed me by, and I was pretty shocked to find out I was pregnant after one month of trying to conceive.

littleboyblue · 12/01/2009 12:56

Agree that you should give yourself at least 6 months befre you worry. It took me and dp 3 months, then 3 months, then 2 days!

gegs73 · 12/01/2009 12:56

3 months each time. Some people take ages though or first time they try. You are young though so it could be really quick

RedOnHerHead · 12/01/2009 12:58

ds1 1st month trying (i was 23 when i had him)

flamingnora · 12/01/2009 13:44

I was 33 & convinced it was going to take us forever. I got pregnant within 2 months. Chocolatedays is right on the money when she says you should enjoy the trying & relax I reckon!

RahRah1 · 13/01/2009 14:03

I'm 33

DS - 18 months

This pregnancy (16 weeks) - 20 months

Hope you catch quickly. Xxxx

pickmestalk · 13/01/2009 15:41

6 months, good luck x

BeckyBendyLegs · 13/01/2009 18:46

DS1 7 months (I was 31 years)
MC 2 months (I was 33 years)
DS2 2 months (I was 33 still)
MC 1 month (aged 35)
Now been trying for 8 months again for a little brother or sister for the DSs. I am now 37 years.

MrTumbledoesmyheadin · 13/01/2009 18:52

About 5 mins....oops! Best accident of my life though!

digitalgirl · 13/01/2009 18:54

5 months but I had long cycles (+35) so it was only 4 cycles. Got my hopes up each time as my period arrived later and later.

It was probably the best 5 months of sex I've ever had though! Once you're pregnant you might not want it all the time, then once you've got a lo you have to find the energy and time it with the baby's naps...

Have fun!

beanieb · 13/01/2009 18:58

so far, been trying for 15 months and still no baby! but I am old.

Etcha · 13/01/2009 19:01

I have 33 day cycles, does this mean I'll have a hard time getting pregnant??

OP posts:
Chocolatedays · 13/01/2009 19:06

Hi Etcha
Stop worrying and start trying!

It took me an age (years) but I'm an old bird. You are young and that makes a huge difference.

There is loads of help on here IF it does take a while (say over 6months) but in the meantime do try to go with the flow.

33 days is completely normal by the way!

Choc x

nomoremagnolia · 13/01/2009 19:38

Hi Etcha,
I have resisted posting on your threads for the past couple of days, but I really agree with Chocolatedays and want to say stop worrying about everything, you'll take the fun out of the trying
I am 30 and still not pg after 3 years of ttc, but I am one of the exceptions, not the rule. Be prepared to fall straight away but also be prepared that it might take a while. 90% of couples ttc are successful in the first year, and if you're one of the 10% who isn't then speak to your GP who will get some tests done for you and your DH/P.
Until then just enjoy regular sex throughout your cycle

beanieb · 13/01/2009 19:46

what they both said. At 23 even if you do have some difficulty you have ages to sort it out!

Etcha · 13/01/2009 20:10

Thanks for your advice girls. I spoke to my boyfriend and he told me to stop worrying before we need to. Why are men so logical!
