Jools - I was a complete bitch to dh in the week before AF following the last mc . Sending you hugs and chocolate.

Yes, AF is officially late - unless I ov'd late (difficult to tell as my EWCM can last over a week) or I'm having an odd cycle, which happens occasionally. The longest has been 64 days ! Still don't feel either premenstrual or pg. I'm still getting morning nausea/burping, but I just don't 'feel' as if I might be pg. If AF hasn't appeared by the weekend I'll test again, but by then I would have ov'd at a time when we'd stopped bd'ing .

yellowflowers · 20/01/2009 20:17

potentially very exciting though funtime.

sorry it's a bad day jools. A bath and a hot chocolate with baileys in it might help?

Joolsiam · 20/01/2009 20:20

mmm - haven't tried hot choc with Baileys before - you are giving me ideas Yellowflowers

I went for M&S choc fudge cake instead, as DP bought a big one for me yesterday to cheer me up and I was very restrained and only ate half of it !

I can feel the black hormonal cloud lifting finally, although AF is still being a bitch

Have done something positive tonight and got in touch with a local counsellor for the Cambridge Diet (she types with a mouthful of fudge cake ) - I want to try and blitz my weight loss for 2 - 4 weeks to feel better about myself - improve body image, feel better and reduce the risk of mc due to obesity.

I feel better already for doing something positive

WanabeMum · 20/01/2009 20:33

Well ladies, I just got back from visiting my sister and almost had a meltdown in the car because "SOME PEOPLE JUST CAN'T DRIVE!!!!!!!!!"
So I decided to test, just in case as this was normal but a bit OTT for me (usually get road rage but not THAT bad).

And .......... BFP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't stop shaking or staring at the test. I used my Clearblue digital with conception indicator and it says "pregnant, 1-2 weeks". OMG!!!! I finally have my BFP.

BUT, i know i'm being totally neurotic (nothing new) but now I'm absolutely dreading that my AF will arrive tomorrow or I'll have a MC before the 12weeks. I'm so angry with myself but I think it may just be the amount of info flooding through my head. Help to calm me ladies i beg you!!!!

Joolsiam · 20/01/2009 20:38

I knew it!!!

have a celebratory glass of sparkling apple juice

You will worry, no matter what anyone says - just go and look at the January a/n thread and read about all the babies popping out - more people have babies than have MC's ..

Joolsiam · 20/01/2009 20:42

I will toast with my apple juice! I will sacrifice every pleasure that i have to to keep this little bean. Praying for it to stick now.

Is it silly how exciting it is to see a BFP next to my name on the list?!

Joolsiam · 20/01/2009 20:54

Take a pic of your BFP before the battery runs out

I'm touched that you think I know what to say - I really really struggle to try and find the right words sometimes - have tried other threads where I really don't feel I ever fit in or say the right thing - here is home

WanabeMum · 20/01/2009 21:50

that's exactly how i feel about this thread! You're all my extended family and your support and advice is invaluable! I'm not going anywhere

I wonder if Funtime will graduate with me?

BeckyMcG · 20/01/2009 22:51

Yeah - congrats wannabe that is such good news. I'm so pleased for you!! I agree about the worrying though - it seems with this TTC (and then pregnancy) lark it's just fraught with worry from start to finish. I'm sure then if (when) I actually have a child there'll be more worries than ever.
Just goes to show - you had a BFN on Saturday and a BFP only 3 days later. That happened to me too - just shows you it's worth waiting for.
Hurray, HURRAY!

C1NDY · 21/01/2009 08:34

Wasabi sorry to hear the news? big hugs to you.

SmileyCat thanks for the info on temping I am going to try it this month? unless of course some miracle happens and I get those lovely two lines on a pg stick ? see I can?t even say it in case I jinx it!!

Funtime Goush, you have had the run of the mill. Sorry to hear that your history of TTC has not been that great. Fingers & crossed that you hear good news soon. I had a MC in Sept? I am hoping it will be my first and last one!!

Yellow I clutch on to so many straws its unbelievable? so I know where you are coming from. Here?s hoping. Today I found CM, I am about 8DPO? so got a little excited as I never had such a display like that before ? but I know its false hope.

jools I was thinking of going on the Cambrige or the Lighterlife diet to get rid of my three stones, apparently you can still be on the diet for the 1st trimester? have you tried these before?

WanabeMum congratulations on the BFP? I am sooooooo happy for you!!! Stay calm and positive and everything will be fine. I know the feeling of getting the BFP, but as you say it is early days, but hey what the hell enjoy!!

Congratulations Wanabe!!!!!! Wooohoooo! Fabulous news

You are right though - the TTC worries will be replaced by the first 12 week worries. I'm trying to take it one day at a time but I'm still really nervous about my early scan on Saturday.

Hello to everyone else - anyone planning on testing soon?

yellowflowers · 21/01/2009 10:46

That's great news wannabe - oh wow - am hugely pleased for you.

And great stuff cindy brilliant idea about due dates on this list. I love that it is ttc and ante natal all at once. We should get heeby and nelix and the others back.
x

yellowflowers · 21/01/2009 10:53

I don't quite understand it but based on today's temp Fertility Friend changed my ovulation day from day 16 to day 18. In a way this is better because we BD'd day 13/16/18 so if it was day 18 then more chance of sperm being there ready and waiting, but am still a it confused and miffed because it means can test later than I wanted to.

btw is thirst a symptom - I've had a raging thirst today and yesterday

wasabipeanut · 21/01/2009 11:33

Congratulations Wanabe
That's such great news.

I know this may not sound great coming from me at the moment but you should try not to worry about your bean. The fact is that the odds are overwhelmingly in favour of life. Where there is life there will always be a tiny element of risk but that's, well, life. Try and enjoy this early stage - while you can still fit into your jeans!

C1ndy - your idea re due dates is lovely I think and hopefully will encourage people to stick around.

Funtime - thanks for your wise words. Maudlin muggings is an excellent expression! I am feeling ok at the moment about things - almost too ok. I have a feeling that when my hormone levels start to plummet that could change. I couldn't leave this group now - I am too attached! Anyway, as you are now officially late I have my fingers crossed for you too! I know you said you don't really "feel" pg but then it is very early days potentially.

Jools - the cambridge diet thing sounds like a really constructive thing to do. You go girl!

Well, I had my hospital appt this morning but I'm not going to dwell on it here - doesn't feel right after Wanabes great news. I am going to post a question on the mc section as obviously I forgot to ask all the important ones while I was actually in with the doc

Joolsiam · 21/01/2009 11:58

Wasabi - I have replied to your post over there - am not stalking you, honest !! The miscarriage forum, and particularly the Emmsys Angels thread are my second home at the moment You would be very welcome if you wanted to join us there aswell

Still waiting for the diet counsellor to get in touch but went to see my chiropractor this morning - she has sorted my back out again and we had a lovely chat about life, the universe and everything - she is probably the only RL person I can say anything to, so she got the ins and outs of the MC in all its gory detail and we discussed TTC etc. She reckons I have a nice broad pelvis and will have no problems giving birth and am unlikely to get SPD All I need now then is that BFP !!

You can probably tell that AF has departed and taken her little black dog with her, so I'm feeling quite a lot better - amazing what effect hormones have on you Am having lots of uterine twinges now though for some strange reason.

Has it sunk in yet Wanabe

WanabeMum · 21/01/2009 12:05

Aww thanks everyone!!

Wasabi don't be silly, remember this thread is through thick and thin so ask away, someone is bound to be able to help or at least direct you to someone who can?

I will worry, that's just my nature, but I'm still planning on enjoying every minute. The adrenalin is still coursing through my veins to the extent that I feel quite sick and off my food today (not stopping me from having a roast turkey dinner tho! ) but that's mainly because we are telling the parents tonight! eek!!
Tried to book a doctor's appointm, ent because we want it confirmed by blood test but the surgery is full so i have to ring back Friday and she will "try" and fit me in next week! Can't wait that long (impatience is another part of my nature!).

Anyway, people in work are looking at me funny because the smile on my face just wont budge!

Fingers crossed for more BFP's and C1ndy the due date idea is good but not sure what that is just yet (think I'm 5 weeks and one of those calculators showed an EDD of 24th September!). As soon as it's confirmed I will add though!

TTFN everyone xxxx

Joolsiam · 21/01/2009 12:27

Forgot to say to C1ndy - yes, VillageMum is around - pops in occasionally in the miscarriage forum. She is OK - just normal early preg tiredness and grottiness I think

As for the Cambridge Diet - have never tried it before. It does say you can't do it when PG, but I'm guessing that for TTC it is fine. I've done the Atkins diet before and this is along similar principles, ie putting the body in ketosis to burn off fat more quickly. The difference is that you are not risking losing any essential nutrients or struggling to put together a low carb meal because it is all done for you in shakes and meal bars. I think it works out at just under £40 per week - I'm guessing I'd spend pretty much that on food and snacks anyway, so it seems good value to me - will let you know I hope they get in touch soon - I'd really like to start asap so that, if I did get a BFP in mid Feb, at least I've had 3 - 4 weeks of diet

wasabipeanut · 21/01/2009 12:43

Thanks for your answer Jools in mc forum. I know you still post there quite a lot - you have been lovely in sharing your experience so at least others know what to expect. I think I will try work tomorrow unless something drastic happens overnight.

Thanks for inviting me to Emmsys Angels thread. It may sound silly but at the moment I don't want to dwell on what's happenned too much. I know I can't just magic it away but I just want to put it behind me. I might be slightly in denial I don't know. I want to ttc straight away but dh says we should wait one cycle as the doctor told us this morning. I guess it wouldn't hurt too much to wait 4-6 weeks or so. Gives me more time to get match fit as it were.

Joolsiam · 21/01/2009 12:48

Wasabi - I was told by the midwife at the EPU to ideally wait one cycle so that it is easier to date the next pregnancy. I don't think there is any other medical reason. I was told not to BD for 2 weeks though because of the risk of infection from the cervix being open.

My GP told me to go for it asap, as you are more fertile just after a miscarriage and scans can always confirm dates !!

WanabeMum · 21/01/2009 13:08

Hey Jools nope it still hasn't sunk in yet,, think our posts crossed.

I'm still feeling very weird about it all but it's a nice weird tho!

C1NDY · 21/01/2009 13:40

Wasabi when I had a MC I read a lot of material on when ttc again and the best answer I got was to wait for at least one cylce... if I can remember it went something like this... we all have eggs in our system.. which a couple mature and go in the follicles (or something) they need our cycle to mature and be ready for conception. If you didn't wait for your next cycle how do you know that your system is working again.

But, yes there is always a BUT... saying all this, I did read that loads of women got pg after their MC and had healthy babies. But I decided to wait... just in case.

So do what feel right for you.

x
