Hi everyone I have started a new thread... hope you like the new home, this is where it will all happen. (Cindy opens a bottle of champagne) Here's a drink to all and to our month ofthe BFP... .... baby dust all around ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Yellow oh bubble gums!! the ear one's are so quick to use... I have a digital one. Do you have any information on the vaginally testing... apparently you can do this anytime of the day??? i.e. you don't have to have slept for 4 hours??

OP posts:
yellowflowers · 19/01/2009 10:38

yeah I know what you mean cindy -my oral one takes so long it makes me gag. Don't know anything else about how to do it vaginally - sorry. Except if you do it vaginally you have to do it there every day - you can't do it there some days and your mouth other days (having washed thermometer presumably!) as it is hotter in vagina than mouth.

Fertility Friend says I ovulated on the 16th, which I think is correct - so now officially 3dpo and on 2ww.

smileycat · 19/01/2009 11:06

C1ndy yellow is right you need to use a BBT one. I used an oral one so don't know about doing it virginally. I took it every morning at around 7ish when the alarm clock went off, even if I was awake a little before it I just lay there till it was about time then took it, there is a place in FF where you can adjust the readings if you have taken it before or after your normal time.
You then log your results into FF every day & they do the rest for you. My temps tended to go up & down before OV & then a dip the day of OV, but FF won't tell you you have OV'd until you have had 3 days of temp rises in a row. It will then let you know how many days DPO you are & when to expect AF.

After a couple of months of charting I could see a definate patern with my temps & could tell when to expect AF as my temps started to fall around 3 days before she was due, so on the month that I was pg I could see 3 days before that it was different but didn't dare get my hopes up till I tested...but it was right, so I def recommend it if you can stick to a regular time to take your temp each morning

C1NDY · 19/01/2009 11:19

Smiley the problem I have is that I have a DD 2yr6mths who often wakes in the night. So of course half a sleep I forget to take my temperature!!! Perhaps I should take my temp at 2 in the morning and then go back to sleep. I will try and find a work around as I would love to do it just to get a better insight into my cycle. But saying that I am on the 2 ww and am hoping that I get my BFP!! here's wishing

Sorry all - not been on for ages.

wasabi - am so sorry to read your news = have virtual hugs from me xx Please stay on the thread though.

Queenie Thanks for asking! Have been doing quite badly this month - am CD14 today and have been rubbish at BDing... only managed CD12 and 13... but have kind of taken a month off cos I wound myself up a bit last month and wanted to chill... so haven't done opks etc. I think next month is my month for really going for it

Joolsiam · 19/01/2009 11:24

I think I am going to look into this too - don't want DP to realise I am getting more obsessed though, so will probably reseach a vaginal thermometer, so that I can take my temp in the bathroom rather than lying in bed with the beep waking him up.

I am curious to try and pinpoint when I ov - for my BFP cycle in Sept and this cycle, I had EWCM 4 days before Ov pains, and the ov pain came back the next day. EWCM didn't dry up for a day afterwards. I've set the second ov pain day as the day of ovulation, because that gives me a 13 day luteal phase but I guess it could easily be the day before or the day after - would be nice to know

I've broken my New Cycle's Resolution already - that was to spend less time on MNet and more on working before I get sacked !!!

wasabipeanut · 19/01/2009 12:40

Hi all,

Well the earliest I can get a scan is Wednesday first thing. Then hopefully a D&C later this week then dh and I can move on. I was really upset to be warned by the midwife that that I had to go to the maternity unit rather than the normal ultrasound section at the hospital. That will just be the cherry on the cake - going to have confirmed the fact that my baby will never be and being surrounded ny pregnant women and babies.

Unfuckingbelievabe.

Sorry for the language but it just seems so incredibly cruel I have updated myself on the list - tbc at the moment as obviously I don't have a clue when I can expect my next AF to arrive.

oh wasabi - so sorry.rant awaybecause this is the place to do it.

jools I am pleased you have broken resolution!

I am going to start new thread on this but in case anyone knows - I have been given inhalers for my ongoing cough - blue and brown. Despite the fact that after taking the blue one I threw up immediately, Having just done both I feel immeasurably better already. Doctor said the brown one, the steroid one, okay when ttc or pregnant if the need is greater than the harm - eg if the risk of staying ill is worse than the risk of uing the inhaler. However this isn;t the case - I am not hugely ill except for cough lasting over a month which makes me throw up when I cough too much.

What do you ladies think? GP said can use them for a month then stop. Am on 2ww now.

queenie1 · 19/01/2009 13:44

oh wasabi - that is outrageous. This kind of insensitivity makes me so mad. When I had to go in for a scan because of lots of bleeding I was told the machine was broken and that I had to go upstairs - i.e. in the maternity ward. I was then told that there was no heartbeat and that yes, I was miscarrying, only to have to walk back down through the maternity ward with babies and heavily pregnant people everywhere and me crying my eyes out. So I really do feel for you and I'm really cross for you.

wasabipeanut · 19/01/2009 14:02

Hi Yellow - I'm not an expert on this by any means but I guess I'd prob try to avoid using inhalers unless absolutely necessary - really, really bad coughing. I guess go with the advice of your GP - if the need outweighs the risk.

Mind you having said that I also heard that a lot of medication was perfectly safe to use when pg - it's just that drugs companies wont test them because of the cost which is why every over the counter remedy you can buy has "Do not use when pg or breast feeding" on it.

queenie1 · 19/01/2009 14:30

I feel liberated and mad all at the same time...

I just did an OPK today and got a definite darker line than the test so it seems as if I am surging today (rather than earlier as I thought). This corresponds with EWCM sat, sun and today and a very high and soft feeling cervix. So I feel liberation because I think, now, I actually understand my cycle and should now be able to pin point without the tests roughly when I ov.

But I am mad for two reasons. Firstly, we've been busy BDing (CD 7, 10, 11, 13, 15, twice on 17) but we didn't do it this morning because we were running late. I may be able to grab him tonight but if I don't we could miss it. ARGGGH. Secondly, being certain now that I ov around CD20...I'm now worried (as I was before) about a potential short luteal phase!!

So feeling excited and anxious all at the same time.

Also, if I surged today, what day is 1DPO? Tomorrow or the day after?

Joolsiam · 19/01/2009 14:51

I understand your frustration Queenie - good that you have some basic info to work with now though

I don't have an answer on what is 1 DPO I'm afraid. I work on feeling ov pains - if I feel them 2 days running, I assume ov is on the second day. However, I'm quite keen to start temping now and suss out if I am right - I think that is the only way to know for sure ?

WanabeMum · 19/01/2009 15:35

Hi ladies!

Been busy on here!!
wasabi i'm so sorry that your trauma isn't quite over. How insensitive making you go to the maternity unit! Makes me so angry.

Jools has the witch arrived or is it just that you can "feel" it?

Funtime has she arrived yet or are we still slightly optimistic? You know what they say ... a negative is less acurate than a positive!

Well as for me, low occasional aches, tender boobs, white creamy discharge still, slight indigestion. Otherwise nothing significant to report. No AF signs which is obviously the most significant sign so here's hoping!!
I'm 12DPO today so waiting until Thursday. If no AF Thursday morning then I'll be reaching for my digital pregnancy tests! Keep everything crossed for me ladies

Joolsiam · 19/01/2009 16:08

Hiya - yes, the evil witch is well and truly here and being particularly evil It is all quite painful (unusual for me) and very heavy.

Ironically, my boobs started getting really sore yesterday afternoon and I started really really hoping she wasn't on the way.

Even more irony - boobs are getting more sensitive today and the feelings of nausea are getting stronger

Fingers fimly crossed for you Wanabe - will be logging in at 8.30 sharp for an update on Thursday

WanabeMum · 19/01/2009 17:20

Hehe thanks Jools, i shall update everyone as soon as i know (just hoping i get that far!) Sorry the witch has arrived though. Do you think it's heavier and more painful because it's so soon after your MC? Hope the pain doesn't last too long. Take care xxx

Joolsiam · 19/01/2009 17:54

It has tailed off now - still there but light. Was very heavy overnight though. No cramps now - just a dull ache

TMI alert - this morning I passed a smallish clot that was definitely not normal AF - more like MC tissue - so am wondering if this is in fact a CP / very very early MC ??

I'm feeling very "seasick" for want of a better description and my boobs are getting tender

wtf is up with me

smileycat · 19/01/2009 18:26

Wasabi they need to wake up & see the bigger picture & take your feelings in hand rather than treating one condition ie pregnant in one place only, big hug to you, you must be feeling very frustrated with them

Queenie FF takes the day after you OV as DPO1 ie the 1st day of your temp rise

C1ndy you could always just concentrate on a couple of days before you think you are going to OV (if you know there abouts) then 3 days or so after so that FF confirms OV & then if you need to take a break go back to temping 3 or 4 days before AF is due. It won't give you a great graph but at least you will know you have OV'd & be able to see at the end if you get a temp fall before AF.

Or do it as properly as you can for a month so that you get a picture of what the graph should be, you can then predict when you need to do your temps for the following months.
Although for that I think you need to have a fairly regular cycle so that you get it right, mine was fine after OV as it followed the same patern every month, but not before as I OV'd on cd 13 the 1st month, cd 12 the one after then next cd 14 the one after that & then Dec was on CD 9

Sorry about AF Jools
Good Luck Wannabe sounds promising

funtimewincies · 19/01/2009 18:57

No AF yet today - I don't feel premenstrual, but I don't feel pg either .

C1NDY (with apologies to those of you who already know my story) - TTC for a second child started October 2007, pregnant immediately but mmc found at 12 week scan. We had 2 cycles break and then started again. Mc in June this year, and another in October . I'm determined that it will eventully happen .

I've managed to get the cancelled appointment at the mc clinic rescheduled for next month. Fingers crossed that it happens this time!

Jools - sorry that the witch got you this month . A visit to the GP is probably a good idea.

Keeping everything crossed for you Wanabe !

queenie1 · 19/01/2009 19:16

funtime / wannabe - here's hoping!!

smileycat - hope all good with you? Thanks for your thoughts re DPO. I don't temp though. I've been doing a bit of searching around and it seems to be that you tend to ov 12 - 48 hours after your surge with it most likely happening 36 hours after surge. So for me, 36 hours is tomorrow night. I guess then, Wednesday should be 1DPO for me? Sorry to bang on about this, I'm just trying to understand all this stuff!!

yellowflowers · 20/01/2009 09:54

Hi everyone - how are you all feeling today?

I am slightly excited even though only 4dpo but temp was higher than usual 4dpo temp today. Probably meaningless and probably because I woke an hour earlier then went back to sleep before doing temp but still - any straw I can clutch at.

wasabipeanut · 20/01/2009 13:18

Yellowflowers - straw clutching is what we do! YOu never know - there is always hope, especially at 4 days po.

funtime - fingers crossed about your appt and indeed the fact that as AF still hasn't arrived you never know what's round the corner! Perhaps test again in a couple of days? You sound like such a strong person. One of the things that haunts me now is how I would cope with more mc's. If I suffered another 1 or 2 I'm not sure what I would do.

Jools - so sorry you are feeling hormonal and Bastard hormones have a lot to answer for. Hopefully things will look less bleak in a few days.

Wanabe - I have my fingrs crossed for you

WanabeMum · 20/01/2009 13:34

Thank you ladies, nice to have a group of people sending positive vibes!

Will keep you posted xx

yellowflowers · 20/01/2009 14:39

thanks wasabi and thinking of you still wannabe - this is a quiet board today...
x

funtimewincies · 20/01/2009 14:49

Was thinking about you a lot this morning wasabi and hoping that you wouldn't disappear and hide from us under the weight of it all. Mc's are odd little things. If you think about them before they happen you wonder how on earth you'd cope. Then, if they do, you wonder how you'd ever deal with another. And then it happens. You find ways of dealing with it or you go under. Looking back seems easier than projecting forward (iyswim ) and I still think 'what will I do if I have another?' even though I know that I have coped in the past. My biggest fear is a late 2nd or 3rd trimester mc as that's too far out of my experience. I read some of the stories on the mc page and think 'how on earth are you still functioning' .

One piece of advice I'll pass on is to beware of the sudden 'maudlin muggings' as we call them in our house. Those days when you've thought you're dealing with it all swimmingly and suddenly you're sobbing uncontrollably into a gin. Last night's part 2 of Hunter did it for me . But, as time passes, the gaps between them get longer . Take care and huge hugs.

AF still AWOL and I've just finished my tax return. Things are looking up !

Joolsiam · 20/01/2009 15:14

Ooh Funtime - is AF now officially overdue ? I NEED some good news, so have everything still crossed for you and Wanabe

Maudlin muggings - great term. I've established today that first AF post MC is well known for causing hormonal meltdowns, so feel a bit better about my sobbing fits all last night, this morning and intermittently, hiding in the loos at work today I thought I'd got over all this by Christmas, but it has come back to bit me ..

Will be better once AF has moved on and I can actually do something about my situation - ie BD or knicker check. At the moment, I just feel lost, fat (bloated) and miserable
