Hi all,

Sorry another boring flying visit - it's so busy here and my brain isn't working very well . Thinking about everyone.

Just to say Naomi is soooo cute.
CE don't worry about the measurements - mine is apparently a big'un too so far. DH was 48 cm long & 5 weeks premature - I was 48 cm at term - so we know where it's getting it from.
Dawn - thinking of you - hope you're in good spirits. x
Dawni - hi there sorry you are feeling down today how long have you been trying for?

Big hugs & mugs of hot chocolate to everyone - it's so cold.
xx

Dawni · 10/12/2008 18:50

Hi Mandy73, we've been trying just over 13 years, we have unexplained fertility problem so im always searching the net for something to help, we have'nt tried every month for 13 yrs, we have had breaks as big as a couple of years to get our lives back on track so this time round we're on the 3rd month which i think isnt going too well , all those years ago when we were both 20 (now 36) i fell pregnant the very moment i came off the pill !!! Typical {big sigh}

Anyway, im supposed to be making lasagne for tea, another batch of fertilaid came in the post today, i was annoyed cause i got charged extra customs charges of £14 !! Better go my DH & DS will be back from the gym soon, im not so silly i have had my jama's on since 4pm

Love to all

D xx

FrostyTheSnowman · 10/12/2008 19:46

Dawni-13 years is soul destroying Please don't give up hope. I am 39 so haven't got that long to try. My body doesn't seem to be playing fair-think I'm past it sometimes. {{hugs}}

Hi Meg,

Thought I'd vent about a false positive I've had recently. My husband and I have been ttc for 3 years, and recently had our first ever positive! I did 6 tests in total, and from those 6, I had 4 + and 2 -. I went to my Dr who then sent me on the same day for a blood test to confirm these + tests. The next day he called me to say that the HCG level in my blood was less than 1. Obviously we were devastated and infuriated at the maker of the tests! We'd bought our tests from Sainsburys - and I let them know as soon as we'd found out. I had done a clearblue test in the middle of the 6 from sainsbury's (which came back as -), but believed that the + tests may have just been more sensitive. Sorry to vent so much!!

It's sucks!

Anyway, we continue ttc....

majormoo · 10/12/2008 20:08

Dawni really hope things work our for you after that long 13 years. And of course for you Frosty.

MJIM hope the sleep situation improves

Willmouse hope the dates work out OK for all your testing.

Hi to everyone else

As predicted my baby is fashionably late now. DD's ballet show on Sat was so lovely it brought tears to my eyes and the school play was very funny today-so glad I did not miss them

The kids are being very challenging though. Yesterday DD brought tears to my eyes by being completely vile-picked her up from school to a huge tantrum, culminating in her throwing her shoe at me when we got in. All because she wasn't allowed to go to a friend's house. I sent her to her room and a had cry. My two year old looked at me like I was mad-but did give me a lovely cuddle.

Oh MJIM-this too shall pass but isn't the tiredness awful. Hope things pick up soon. Love the little concerts they do-so cute at that age. Enjoy!

detox-for the first time ever I have had semi +ive OPKs for the past 6 nights but just when I think I might have OV'd my temp will drop again. Last night's was the brightest line so hoping for a temp rise tomorrow but have no CM whatsoever.

Better do some ironing-have been to DH's work this morning to put up their old lovely tree and decos.

hi ladies,

just wanted to ask a question about breastfeeding. in the hospital i was having trouble getting him latched on, but once we got home we seemed to get it sorted and he was feeding great for the first 12 days or so. but for the last 2 or 3 days i have been having loads of trouble getting him to latch on again - it's as if he's forgotten what to do. I really really want to carry on breastfeeding, so I have been expressing and giving him a bottle for most feeds today and yesterday. I am trying to get him latched on each time, but then he gets so upset after a few attempts, which is when I end up giving him the bottle of expressed milk. On a very rare occasion he does still latch on, also my mum is here with mum and a couple of times she has managed to help me get him latched on, but now most of the time it's not happening. I just wondered if anyone else who is breastfeeding/has breastfed has had any problems like this. Can he re-learn how to latch on? Can I go on expressing indefinitely? Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated. It's just so much harder to breastfeed than I thought it would be, although for the first 2 weeks it seemed like it was all going to be fine!

MJIM - sorry to hear you've been having some bad nights sleep. It's not pleasant, is it, being up and about in the wee small hours? It's certainly taking me a while to get used to it! Hope your DS is feeling better soon!

Hope all the TTCers get lucky this month, what a fab Christmas pressie a BFP would be for you all. I am keeping everything crossed (including legs - still a no-go area for me at the moment!!!!)

Waves to everyone else.xxxxx

Hi everyone!

Sorry I haven't been around for ages, I barely have time to keep up with 1 thread and feel bad about it, like I have abandonned you all, which I promise I haven't! I am typing this quick before Z wakes for his feed which is due....about now, lol!

I'm sorry I have not a clue what is going on with everyone apart from what I have skim read on this page. I am so glad I haven't missed Majormoo's birth, not long now.

Juanitad, I agree with contacting a lactation consultant to give you some help with latching and to check for tongue tie. Zack is a bit tongue tied (so is dh) and his latch is pretty bad but we have fed through it so far. Sometimes I have to take him off and put him back on several times to get the best possible latch on an already sore boob (only the right one?!?). As for pumping, it is possible to exclusively pump and feed EBM, but over time your supply will diminish unless you have a hospital grade pump. It happens pretty slowly though, depends on how long you were planning on breastfeeding for.

MJIM, sorry to hear your ds is not sleeping well. It must be difficult to have your baby sleeping well and your older child being the one keeping you up. I hope he feels better soon so you can get more sleep.

Things are going pretty ok here. Zack is 5 weeks tomorrow, the time is going so fast! Poor little chap is suffering from silent reflux (nearly got my wish when I said that having a puker would be good therapy for me, only he rarely pukes). We started infant gaviscon on Tuesday and he is feeling quite alot better but suffering from mild constipation now. Oh joy! When he's feeling good, not tired, fed, clean ect, he is a happy chappy, smiling and happy to hang out with his brothers (see 2 new pics in profile).

Looks like we may be having another new addition to the family....

NO! not a baby....! My BF called me earlier and asked if I could help out a friend of hers by taking in a cat that kind of adopted them as her new family after her owners moved away (how terrible!). They were happy to feed the cat ect, but they now have a dog and a new baby due to arrive at the end of the month. Dh loves cats and ds1 has been asking for a cat for xmas for the last 3 years, lol! So we may be taking in the cat, even if it is only temporary, depending on how she was to get on with the family and allergies depending too (thinking of ds2 here).

Right, better get Z's gaviscon ready before he wakes.

Ahhh, just spoke with dh and we came to the conclusion that between J and with Z being so small..... plus we already have 2 rabbits, we would not take the cat on right now. We both said that if we were going to get another pet, we would want it from baby itself to grow up with the family. Am feeling terribly guilty that i may be condeming the cat to it's death though

soosy · 11/12/2008 15:27

Juanitad there is a book by Clare Byam Cook about breastfeeding its brillant. If you get the book I think it has her number in it and you can call her. There is also a nationa breastfeeding line, or go back to see the midwives at the hospital if you can.

HC if I get pg next year I'll be 40 too. My SIL had her first at 41 no stitches or anything, I ended up with Emergency section at 35!

BSL, sorry can't remember your christmas name. I think its v difficult for chaps to get around the fact that there may be a problem, but most of the people I know have had IVF for male factors. we basically treated it as something that affected both of us, so it was both our problem. At times it didn't help that I thought I should be super fertile and compensate for my husband's infertility. But now it turns out that it is quite difficult for me to get pg too and you never now until you embark on the whole thing. You will be fine, statistics say you are more likely to stay together and quite frankly I only know one person who has had IVF and not had a child, so the odds are you will have a baby. Roll on 2009

MJIM You have my sympathy DS has filthy bug with temperature over 40 - calpol and nureofen'd up to the eye balls it was his last day of term and we literally went in to give his teacher her present. He is now in bed and has been there for ages, i wonder whether I should wake him....

Got to go he is now.....

Love to everyone else.

Hello everyone, just a quick catch up, its been a long day with a works meeting at the end of it which i kept nodding off in !!!

MJIM Im feeling even more tired just for you hun, hope you have plenty of matchsticks, poor DS though, hope he gets better soon, the concerts sound good, i love them when they are so small xx

frosty hows things with you hun, still BDing ? My DH see's his consultant tomorrow for the results of his MRI, so we'll know whats going to happen and when. The only downfall is the operation will no doubt be done at newcastle and we live in cumbria so visiting will be a strain aswell as working full time....im trying not to brood about it till i know the full story

Hope everyone is well, my eyes are too tired today so im off for a brew while DS & DH are at the gym. Good luck to all TTCers.

Love to all

D xx

.......majormoo Any sign of baby ??????

FrostyTheSnowman · 11/12/2008 18:17

Yes, majormoo-where art thou?

Dawni-your DH will be out of action for a while won't he? Hope all goes well with the MRI.

Have been to Tescos pharmacy tonight to buy the biggest bottle of Calpol available as DD2 is so very grumpy and so unlike her. Also DD1 is coughing like mad.

soosy-hope DS feels better soon. My SIL had a Christmas card from her friend who is PG at 43 so there is hope but I know my family have a history of an early menopause.

Must get on as girls being annoying demanding.

no baby here yet. Wrapped some Christmas presents this morning and got my haircut this afternoon so have had a relaxing day (DH finished work for Xmas so he had DS).

Juanitad would agree with what HM2J and MJIM said. Where I live there is a fantastic drop-in breastfeeding group. You can meet other mums and have coffee etc, but they also have breastfeeding counsellors there who can help. Hopefully there will be one near you too. I phoned the NCT helpine when breastfeeding DD and they were really helpful and offered to send someone out to me, so maybe try that. My best friend expressed for three months using one of those electric pumps (she had a premature baby that really struggled to latch on). It worked but was quite hard going.

Hope everyone else well-must go-kids are kicking off

Thanks to everyone for your replies re: breastfeeding, I feel really encouraged by them. I did go to the midwife today, and there was a wonderful midwife support lady there who showed me how to alter my hold just slightly when breastfeeding and when I got home I managed to latch him on.........fingers crossed this continues for the next feed, which is in about 10 mins as he is starting to wake up in readiness!! I'm so pleased to know I can carry on expressing if I need to, but I will definitely get in touch with one of the headlines if the latching problem carries on. This thread is just so great for good advice! Thanks ladies!

Hope everyone else has had a good day today.....not long till Christmas now - what are everyone's plans for the holidays?
