I tested this morning with a clearblue digital and got a......... BFP but 1-2 weeks? I think that's fine, I'm 4+2 was hoping it might say 2-3 but I got a 2 pack so I'll have another go at the weekend.

Nice having digital confirmation

xx

babyblue3 · 19/01/2009 13:35

Good Morning Ladies... I'm back!!

WOW!!! Looks like I've missed tonnes in the week I have been away!

HUGE congratulations kat, boob, and twig!!!
(jumping up and down). More carrots to add to the bunch! We really do have a lucky thread here!!

Well... I am sooo glad I took 2 extra days off work to recover from my vacation! The trip itself was lovely... sand, sea and plenty of (virgin ) pina coladas. The plane ride, on the other hand, was a bloody nightmare! The baby was still getting over her flu, so she threw up all over me at the airport on the way down. Then she slept for 2 hours on the plane and cried, screamed and had a temper tantrum for the last 3 hours. Now I know why I waited until the other DC were older before taking them on a trip! Being nauseaous myself, I was lucky DH took over, although the baby mostly wanted me to hold her. On the way home, it was much the same. Slept for 2 hours and cried and squirmed around for the last 3. I had a pounding headache by the time I reached home. Oh... and did I mention the flights were delayed an hour each way because of all the snow we have been getting here! Sigh... (sorry... needed to rant and DH has heard it all before!! )

Anyway... looking forward to my scan tomorrow! Next week I officially start my second trimester and am hoping the nausea comes to an end!

mrsdisorganised · 19/01/2009 14:08

babyblue3 sounds like a complete nightmare you have my sympathy! Rant all you needGlad you enjoyed the 'holiday' part.....I always think mums need and extra 'recovery holiday' when they get home, doesn't usually happen though
Yes...lucky thread only a couple of us to go now so it's very positive!

Hello everyone else!

Twiglettini · 19/01/2009 14:14

rainbowdays · 19/01/2009 15:58

sandy4 · 19/01/2009 16:53

hello! can I join you?

You seem like a friendly lot, I have been lurking.

I have 3 lovely DS's, DH has been trying to persuade me to have another DC since DS3 was born - 5 yrs ago. Am coming round to it, but still a bit on the fence

Scans indicated DS3 had 'edwards syndrome', so I had a shit pregnancy/labour/birth. He turned out perfect, thank god...still on the fence though, but thinking ... 4 would be lovely! (mad woman!)

ooops

KatB · 19/01/2009 17:32

Hey Sandy!

Course you can join us! My youngest is 5 too, I was determined she would be the last but the last couple of years I started getting broody again and following an accidental preg in Dec and early mc DH decided he would like another one too.

I love this thread, I've been a member of another baby website since I had dd3 and I have to say this one is much more fun as there aren't as many of us if that makes sense?
Hope you get your BFP soon!

Quick question for anyone who has used a CB digi. Is it ok that I only got 1-2 weeks at 4+2? It wasn't FMU, more like 2nd MU so that mkight have something to do with it but you know what it's like, you worry! Says on website that 1-2 indicates 3-4 weeks preg. I got a 2 pack (only £7.99 in our local chemists!!) so I'm gonna test again on Sat when I'll be 5 weeks.

So I've been into uni today, sounds like I'm gonna be busy for the next few months but from the end of May I'm finished

Glad you had a nice holiday BB

Twiglettini · 19/01/2009 18:12

Hi Sandy am assuming you are really quite persuadable about having 4, otherwise you would not be hanging around with us weirdos wanting large families (I know not that large compared to the LARGER FAMILIES threads, but large compared to a lot of people)

by the way, the Edwards syndrome worries must have been just awful - you poor things, but lovely outcome.

ps DIDN'T pee on a stick this morning!!! . Still has not really sunk in, but ran out of time and am a bit fed up with getting really faint lines - am trying to 'chill' about it a bit..........................hmm, not sure I'm succeeding

sandy4 · 19/01/2009 19:08

thanks for the welcome! speaking of large families ... how have your families/friends reacted??

This seems really trivial, but my reservations regarding no4 have centered around my families reaction & guilt about birthday & christmas presents !??

AND also being so bloody old (almost 38, but obviously acting like an 18yr old!)

mrsdisorganised · 19/01/2009 19:17

Sandy4 Stop giving yourself a hard time...welcome by the way!......at the end of the day it's you little family and your business, you will get some negative comments but they will get over it I can talk!! We're ttc#5 and I'm desperate to keep it a secret for as long as possible once it happens......

KatB · 19/01/2009 20:34

I second that! I don't care basically!
I had my 1st DC at 16 a month after sitting my GCSEs and getting 10 and thenj my 2nd at 18. People have always had plenty to say about me and I've learned to ignore it.

I live in a small village where people talk so it's a pain but it's your fanily not theirs and it's you who'll be surrounded by a large loving family - I don't even think 4 is that big really anyway. If you and DH are happy about it then don't worry about other people, they soon come round once your gorge baby is born - when they arrive nobody can be negative about a newborn baby!

mrsdisorganised · 19/01/2009 20:38

Well said KatB!! I really admire you for having kids young and proving that you can do it all! I wanted a baby at 14 (have been with dh since then!) but of course that wouldn't have been very sensible....anyway not doing too bad for starting at 20!

Big waves to everyone!

theboob · 19/01/2009 20:47

here here katb my first dc arrived when i was 18,and here i am pregnant with #4(omg i'm pregnant)at 27,but i still want to hide it and i'm dreading my parents and mil finding out....DH family stoped buying xmas presents when we had#3 as they said it was to exspensive(aunts) imagine their faces when dc#4 arrives

mrsdisorganised · 19/01/2009 20:49

We got round the pressie thing by just asking for arts and crafts...suits them all and I don't have to waste money on paint!

theboob · 19/01/2009 20:54

i tried to say a pound selection box wraped up would do ,but hey they get far to much anyway

mrsdisorganised · 19/01/2009 20:58

good point....wheres all my pressies

theboob · 19/01/2009 21:11

wanted to ask you all,i have just noticed a thread about activites and the cost i am at what some people pay,how do you manage with large families?
DH taught ds1 to swim and is trying to teach dd now so no swimming lesson fees
ds1 attends local athletics club £3.00 and DD cheerleading £4.00 ,our friend is about to teach ds to play the guitar for a small fee ,do you cut the cost?

KatB · 19/01/2009 21:38

We spend a fortune mainly on Jessica. She dances twice a week which is a tenner a week then she has competitions a lot which can be anything from £20 for tickets to £100 if we need to stay over. Her costumes cost a few hundred pounds but usually you can sell them when they don't fit and get most of the money back.
I also pay £16 a week for singing lessons for her and £2.50 a week for drama club :p Blimey it adds up! She's really talented though so I try to encourage it.
DS does nothing, I've tried but he's having none of it. DD2 has swimming lessons they're about £40 a term. She sometimes goes dancing with Jess so another £5 a lesson.
Good job I don't have a social life myself really!

mrsdisorganised · 19/01/2009 21:57

Yes we have no social life and don't spend money on alcohol (we do drink!) but it doesn't bother me.....I don't know how we pay for things but we manage! They do violin lessons, highland dancing, some swimming, girls brigade, horse riding...not going to add it up[blush!
