We're just thinking about starting to try for DC2 and I was wondering how long it took everyone to get pregnant second time round?

9 months 2nd time but only 3 months 3rd time (both after being on the pill).

Mercy · 07/10/2008 10:04

One night! (and I was 39)

1st month of trying, but I knew what my ovulation signs were.

sammybeth · 07/10/2008 10:06

Straight away, came off the pill and fell pregnant instantly

Heated · 07/10/2008 10:07

We are the parents that must have at least done it twice

DeJaVous · 07/10/2008 10:07

It took over a year to conceive DD. Chemical pregnancy on first cycle of TTC DC2, pregnant on second cycle. It's still very early days for me (am only 5 weeks), but it's good to know everything is still working.

Didn't use chemical contraception after DD and am still BF, but having periods.

Flamebat · 07/10/2008 10:08

About an hour

cafebistro · 07/10/2008 10:09

A month or two. We werent actively trying just letting nature take its course IYSWIM.
Only going off people I know generally people have conceived much quicker second time around.

artichokes · 07/10/2008 10:10

First DC = 3 months (but we only really understood my cycle, and therefore got the timing right, on that 3rd month).

Second DC = 2 months (but we messed up the timing in month one).

witchandchips · 07/10/2008 10:10

depends on when you define trying. never used any contraception after dc1 did not get pregnant again till just past his 3rd birthday. Was breastfeeding for first year though and not actively trying until ds was 2.

DeJaVous · 07/10/2008 10:13

Personally I was talking about actively TTC. We were careful until DD was 7 months, less careful the next month and actively TTC after that.

Flamebat · 07/10/2008 10:17

Mine was "trying" btw. I joined a ttc thread n everything in preparation Felt a right fraud!

How long did it take for DC1 though - that is a fairly big point. I was the same for DC1 as DC2

10 months and 1 MC and still counting for me, DS will be 2 in December.

scorpio1 · 07/10/2008 12:13

6 months after stopping the pill

Jojay · 07/10/2008 12:16

First month of trying with both but I know a few people who have / are taking much longer second time round.

RhinestoneCowghoul · 07/10/2008 12:16

1st time took 6 months after coming off pill, this time about 3 months. I'm 30.

Michaelangelo · 07/10/2008 12:19

DS1 conceived first month of trying, DS2 took a year then 2 miscarraiges, so 18 months altogether. It was a real suprise to me because DS1 was conceived so easily.

LullyMummaOfOne · 07/10/2008 13:36

DS1 took 3 months and i was on the pill, he wasnt planned but i know it took 3 months as i changed my pill in February and was pregnant by the June. Pregnancy 2 only took 2 months after having the mirina coil but i had a MMC at 9 weeks.. Im still TTC this will be cycle 2 after MC.

Good luck

deanychip · 07/10/2008 13:37

so far 11 months, still trying. (but then it took 3 years to get ds1)

twoplease · 07/10/2008 14:57

3 months with DD, still TTC#2 - this is my 8th cycle actively TTC but not really been careful since christmas. My DD is 4 in December, I wish I'd started trying for a second earlier now as I (niavely it turns out) thought it might happen quicker than this.

Good luck and fingers crossed for whenever you get started!

LittleMyDancingWithTheDevil · 07/10/2008 14:58

Immediately. It was actually quite scary.
