WB,

The TTC19 thread is moving so fast I didn't want to lose touch with you.

Can we use this thread to talk?

Have you had your dh's results yet?

Hi BellaLasagne

Sorry I missed your message. I have been offline for a couple of days as I was very busy at work, but calmed down a bit now.

Results of sperm test should be through Friday or Monday at the lastest, so feeling very anxious at the moment.

Meanwhile I have put my DH on zinc tablets and we are eating a lot healthier. I have got some opks but thought I was ovulating about 10 days into cycle as really wet, but now nothing, so dry, yet I am on day 16 of cycle now and been dry for about 5 days so really worried I have not ovulated this month. Do you have to be wet down below to ovulate do you know.?

Bev

BellaLasagne · 03/03/2005 12:40

Hi WB - glad you found me!

I don't think you have to be wet to O, rather than the other way round, i.e. it's a sign that you are/might be. I get definite mittel schmertz (period-like pains) on and off for 48 hours which is my give-away. Other people swear by temping, other by OPKs. There's a lot of opinion as to the accuracy of any of this. Best advice is to bd like rabbits anyway just in case.

I used OPKs twice - first time I missed completely so wasted £20, the next time I got a definite pos on the day i had pains, so have abandoned them now. I also get loads of CM, from then until AF.

But, as you'll know from previous posts, our GP had advised us to stop ttc as he reckons it's counter-productive and too stressful.

Good luck with results!

hi Bev
you got the OPKs I sent then?

Worriedbev · 03/03/2005 12:52

Thanks BL.

Glad we caught up again. I havent tested the last few days so I might have missed it, must try test tonight and see what happens. As my cycles can be 35 days, the last one being 42 days, maybe I havent ov'd yet. Might just wait for results of sperm test as I am stressed out enough over this anyway. Wanted to be pg for DH's birthday on 18th March, never mind it will happen in time.

Bev

Worriedbev · 03/03/2005 12:54

Thank you very much Katierocket. I received them yesterday. The thing I wanted to ask you was do I have to get something to go with them to take out the few drops of urine - like a specimen stick or whatever you care to call it as it is different from the ones I used before. Can I get this in a chemist. The other ones I just stuck it in the urine and got a result, but it seems from these ones that you just have to pick up some urine in a tube thing, which I dont have. Any ideas?

Do you know whether you have to have a lot of cervical mucus at the time you are ovulating or not? I was wet on day 10 but nothing since and now on day 16 of cycle. What do you think?

Bev

BellaLasagne · 03/03/2005 13:08

The CM is just one of several possible symptoms and i don't think it's compulsory!! (But it's nature's way of making the passage for the swimmers a lot easier!)

I'd just keep bd-ing as regularly as you both want. Our GP said just enjoy yourselves!! (He also made the point that's important to 'really enjoy yourself' - and I'm talking the BIG O here as apparently it sucks up the swimmers like a little hoover!!!!)

OP posts:
katierocket · 03/03/2005 13:19

glad you got them. There is an individual sucker thingy in each packet so you wee into a pot or something then use the syringy thing.

Sorry, worse description ever!
I'm not sure about EWCM, never really have that much of it.

Worriedbev · 03/03/2005 13:37

Hi BL

What is the BIG O thing? Is it a short term for something. I may be acting stupid here but just couldnt understand it!

Will try anything to get the swimmers through, providing there are any. Results of sperm test will tell.

Bev

Worriedbev · 03/03/2005 13:39

Katierocket

Oh didnt realise the thing was inside each packet. Thats good. I may try one of them ones tonight as I have been using the strips that you stick in your wee which someone else kindly gave me on this board. So got a good supply which is great as I know how expensive they are. When they are used though I will definitely carry on with them if they show any positive signs

Bev

BellaLasagne · 03/03/2005 14:13

Think of the famous scene in 'When Harry met Sally'??!!! Big O ???? Got there yet??!!

OP posts:
katierocket · 03/03/2005 17:01

I think around 2pm in the afternoon is the best time to test but if you read the instructions it tells you more.

Worriedbev · 03/03/2005 17:09

KatieRocket

Now I know what you mean - oh got there loads of time but not every time! Lately been concentrating so much on making babies that it has put me off Big O, a bit worried about that would you be? Is it normal to not feel so excited when babies are on your mind all the time? Will test tonight after tea just in case.

Bev

BellaLasagne · 04/03/2005 11:56

Personally, I'm much more in the mood if I know there's the possibility of something incredible about to happen

BellaLasagne

I wish I was. My DH notices these things and I then worry that I havent had the Big O for a while and the more I think about it the more it worries me. I think I am so caught up in this baby making thing it is playing on my mind. He will start asking me soon, I am sure, whether I fancy him anymore. I used to get the Big O all the time, so really worried lately.

BellaLasagne · 05/03/2005 19:31

Sorry hon, wish I could help. All I can advise is to try and relax, as hard as that is. (Nice wine helps too!!)

Good luck

Hi Bella

I checked out the other thread and saw you were looking for me. As I say I have still got the watery brown discharge but just know af will be here in a couple of days. Really upset as I thought this month would be my month, 13 months now, so long. Just started oxford conception study and doing opk every day from day 6 of last period for six months but thought as I was testing every day and getting high fertility and bedding a lot more I would have got pg. I just know I am not. What day of cd are you on now. Any more news? Give me an update on your situation.

love Bev

BellaLasagne · 08/04/2005 08:32

Hi Bev, glad you found me

I'm so sorry about your AF - are you sure it's definitely coming?

I'm intruiged about Oxford conception study - what's that all about - I've never heard of it.

How did the swimmers test go? If you were sure you must be pg this month then I guess it wasn't catastrophic news?

We're still at it but trying not to try too hard, which is so difficult. I don't think I ov'd last month as I didn't have any symptoms but then had a pigging awful AF. This month I know I ov'd as I can feel it (get mittelschmertz quite badly for about 48 hrs) and got my other usual symptom of skin turning pizza-like (very attractive when you're trying to woo your man!!)

We haven't done another swimmers test yet. The GP wanted one done asap but we thought that as there was still some hope for us we'd carry on with 'let's see' for a while. It doesn't really help that I'm in the middle of applying for another job at the moment! It'd be a bit embarassing if I got it only to then get pg so I'm not soo desperate this month, if you know what I mean. Maybe next month after my final interview I'll get a bit more keen again.

Don't get me wrong - I'd be over the moon if I got pg, it's just that sometimes the timing can be really bad!

I'm around cd21 today but as I'm not supposed to be counting that could be wrong!

I dont mean to intrude just wanted to say I know how you both feel and that i brought my husband zinc tablets at christmas,he took one everyday, for 3 and a bit months and after 14 months of trying it has paid off, just dont give up believing that it will happen...I nearly did and nearly ruined my relationship with dh too,[not all to do with me though}..Try not to forget why you started trying for this baby in the first plac...Sorry for being nosy... xxx ebbie

BellaLasagne · 08/04/2005 08:48

Hi Ebbie,

You're not intruding at all (we just found it hard to keep up on the other ttc threads) - it's absolutely wonderful to hear a positive story - thank-you - congratulations!!

I take it he had a poor count also?

Well no,well we dont know as we havent got the results yet, only sent them off tues[didnt know i was pregnant
]but when it takes nearly14 months then you know somethings not as good as it should be,I have had huge problems but they need to test the men first, will get the results soon just in case...iuswim....How long have you been trying?

BellaLasagne · 08/04/2005 09:06

10 months.

We already have 2 children but had to wait 4 years to try for no. 3. Trouble is, dh caught mumps from dd and it turned to orchitis so we knew there might be a problem. He had a test a couple of months ago and it showed that only 10% were OK, all the rest abnormal. Our hope is that our GP said if we didn't want more children we should use contraception, which is good enough for us.

My dh has also started wearing looser tousers (he was wearing tight ones for work) and has been taking zinc when he remembers, so we hope the situation will improve.

How many weeks pg are you?

BellaLasagne

Hi there.

AF arrived in full flow today. Oh S..t. Never mind. I can only carry on and hope that next month will bring better news. OCS is great. They send you a personal monitor and loads and loads of opks sticks and pg test sticks. Enough for six months supply for you to test every day from day 6 to 26 of cycle. Absolutely brilliant and well worth it. To go on it though you have to fib and say you have just started. I can email the address if you want. You just keep records every day and answer various questions and keep a diary which you send them at the end of each cycle. Mine is just going off today as AF arrived. It looked complicated when it came but I soon got to grips with it. Got to wait until day 6 now to start testing every day again. The monitor tells you when you are high fertility. Cant be bad for free and this is my second month so got another five months to go.

DH's sperm test was ok. Good motility although they said there wasnt a lot of fluid there, but should conceive naturally or so they say. When I went to doctor today for something else he looked up the millions for me, and wait for it, I couldnt believe it, it was 43 million, whereas when he had the test 8 years ago, it was only 22 million. It has almost doubled, unbelievable! So on his part I am convinced we can conceive. I am due to have 21 day blood test to see if I am ovulating and also to see a specialist to have my tubes blown through, whatever this means, do you have any idea? My doctor is brilliant and says he will get us there, he is sure it is just time but he will do whatever he can to help, I couldnt ask for a better doctor.

love Bev

Worriedbev · 08/04/2005 14:35

Ebbie

You are very welcome to join us. My DH is on zinc as well which I put him before before knowing the test results, but he is prepared to keep taking them so I am sure they cant hurt. We just need to stay positive I know.
I have a dd of 11 and she tookme a year to conceive when I was 29 so perhaps I am just a slow conceiver. Strangely enough when I gave up, well not totally gave up, but got offered a permanent position from a temporary post, I thought I would concentrate on that for at least a couple of months, and blow me I got pg that same month. Just goes to show when you dont worry and stress yourself out about it, it happens. Probably why it isnt happening this time but it is hard to think of anything else.
