PS ...Can someone let me know what everything stands for!!Ta!

spats · 02/10/2008 18:31

HI jelly legs. Your age gap is the same as mine. I am new but here are a few things i have picked up
AF= Auntie Flo (period)
TTC = trying to conceive
CD is cycle day ie CD1 if 1st day of period
DH is darling husband
DD/DS is darling daughter/son
OPK = ovulation prediction kit

What CD are you on? I was like you and had first 2 within 1st month. I am month 3 (ttc#3)

Good luck

hi jellylegs - I know how frustrating ttc can be ds1 took me 12 months - I'm only cycle 1 and already obsessing about it! do you know your cycle and when you ovulate? that can help spped things up or at least let you know you're doing the deed at the right time... for others it makes the whole thing more stressful iyt has to be what works for you

spats - lol no don't have comp on all day but ds's are 2 yrs and 9 mo so I'm lucky they both still nap so I can log on through out the day and see whats happening on MN!

MMN - that is bout difficulties your sil had, glad to hear they had lo tho, I can't imagine having to go thro that, waiting 12 mo for no 1 was bad enough and I've been lucky not to have m/c, its only since meeting lots of mums to find out how common they are hoping its 3rd time lucky for you x

jellylegs · 03/10/2008 12:35

Thank you Spats-and Insy Wincey Spider for such a quick response!!!I am much clearer 'bout mumsnet 'lingo'!
Am on CD9 of ttc 13!!!I am starting to stress as know my ovulation dates / cycle-have stopped buying ovulation kits as DH thought whole process was getting to mechanical. Thing is at my age ...it is!!!!!Stopped drinking(THat has been Hard)Any clues ...?as realistically , do you have to have sex every other day .
Am I the oldest out of you 2??Does it really make that much of a difference to a mostly healthy lady????

Hi jelly, I think age is a difficult one to work out, I didn't think at 24 it would take 12 mo to get ds1 everyone told me I'd have a honeymoon baby (and thats what my sex ed teacher had led me to believe too!!!) have you been to doc about it? I heard once you are over 35 you should only try for 6 mo before seeing them.
when we conceived ds2 we bd every other day from af and then once I got +ve opk everyday till I was about 2 dpo it was 6 days straight, was prob ott but got pg first cycle.... classic thing is stress doesn't help... not sure what you can do about that ttc can be stressful! sorry don't think thats much help in all but hopefully coming on here and venting will help!

cd28 for me and 5dpo, I forgot to take my temp this am and am stupidly symptom spotting... someone save me from myself!

spats · 03/10/2008 14:40

Jellylegs - i am 35 in december so getting into the "older mother" bit. I was 26 when conceived 1st DS and he was literally honeymoon baby- we weren't trying but stopped using contraception to see what would happen!! for DS number 2 we BD for 2 days before i thought i would ovulate and my ovulation day and the day after. It worked!!! I guess that may have been a stroke of luck!! I have a 28 day cycle so sort of know when it should be. Used OPK kit this month as i think i was preg last month and though my cycle would mess up. I was only 5 days late but i am never late and had really swollen boobs worse than PMT. Bleed after 5 days though so would have only been 4 1/2 weeks. So i reakon wont be preg this month as chances of preg 2 months in a row is ulikely!!! Didn't tell DH about OPK as he too said was bit clinical but like you i said if your trying you need to be. A 16 year old may fall after 1 night but us older girls take a bit more!!

Oh and BD is having "sex" - forgot that 1 but you may have picked it up!!

spats · 04/10/2008 10:41

I feel a bit tearful this morning and grumpy, a sign of PMT. I think it may be over for this month so i am well grumpy. AF not due until monday week but signs of PMT are there.

insywinsyspider · 04/10/2008 21:45

hi spats - sorry to hear you are feeling rubbish, I can't remember are we exactly same dpo? my temp this am took a nose dive so I'm also not feeling very positive about it all - want to hold hands for a bit while we wait

leaky · 05/10/2008 09:24

Hi, just to say I conceived my 1st at 33 after 4mths trying,my 2nd at 36 after 1mth trying & now my 3rd(only 5wks in) & I'm 39,40 in January,after 2mths of trying.So I wouldn't get a hang up about how old you are.

spats · 05/10/2008 13:39

Hi Insy.my AF is due next Monday and i am usually 28 days. At a guess i am 4 or 5 dpo. Got a pos OPK mon night so i guess up to 48 hrs later ovulated. To add to my problems i have a condition called chronic idiopathic urticaria which is an autoimmune disease which causes the bodies mast cells to overproduce histamine(sorry about biology lesson) so i am on daily antihistamine. The drug i am on is not too great in preg so as soon as i ovulate i stop it and then i am itchy!! which makes me irratible!! not a great state of affairs. So i need AF to show if she is going to so i can have an antihistamine fix!! I suspect antihistamine until you find out your preg wouldn't be to harmful but if anything was wrong with the baby i would blame myself for taking them so i am itching away in order to protect an unborn, non existent baby at the mo!! When do you test - need a hand to hold badly.

insywinsyspider · 05/10/2008 19:32

spats - as if you need anything to make the 2ww anymore difficult! bet you are counting the days till next monday! what do you do when you are pg? is there anything you can take then?
I'm charting and fertility friend says I should wait till the 17th - week this friday, 19 dpo... I found out at 12 dpo with ds2 which would be this fri but might try and hold on till next monday... (unlikely I'm already eyeing up cheap online tests!) this is first cycle for us so I'm realistic that it'll take longer but even dh has asked me if I was pg when would due date be so its hard not to day dream - v dangerous!
hope you've had a good weekend x

spats · 06/10/2008 10:38

Hi Insy -weekend was v slow!!! I only got this condition just before tried for 2nd DS and whilst was pg seemed to clear up so i assumed it had gone. Wrong!! Once finished breast feeding it came back. Coz its an autonimmune disorder and in pg your immune system drops to avoid reject of baby i think the condition doesn't flare up so much. That is why last month i think i was pg coz i wasn't itching in the 2 week wait. I was 5 days late but then bled so probably 4 1/2 weeks. Didin't test but as itching stopped i took that as a sign. This month i am itching so much was tempted to take tablet, which 99.9% sure means i am not preg - like having a free preg test really!!!

To top it all girl at works thinks she is pg but diesn't want to be as not married (she is catholic!!) but wont do test. She is sending her baby my way!!!

Hope everyone had gd weekend. I am sneaking on the computer whilst working which is v naughty but this is more impt than work!!!

insywinsyspider · 06/10/2008 13:51

spats - I'm insaney jealous of anyone who pg at moment which is so irrational! poor girl at work tho, thats a horrible situation to be in, hope it works out ok for her
at least you get some rest bite during pg from your condition - even if your symptoms disappeared you did v well not to test when your af was 5 days late! if its becoming unbearable tho I would take a tablet, does bathing or anything like that help or do you have to just put up with it?

I've still got a few weeks to go till I go back to work but will prob be sneaking back on here if not pg by then!

spats · 06/10/2008 16:14

DOes anyone know if the early preg tests really work few days before AF?

insywinsyspider · 06/10/2008 22:32

can't say for sure but I tested 12 dpo with ds2 and got faint positive - it prob depends on how much your body produces hgc and is prob diff for every person.... thats not much help is it... are you going to test??

spats · 07/10/2008 12:39

THink probably wont test after all. My theory was if i tested pos then would suffer the itching but if i tested neg probably would't take tablet as would still not be 100% certain. Paranoid - me- never!!!! I am terrible. I will wait it out. trying to keep busy today, got work wed, thurs, shopping fri, party sat and new table delievered sun!!! so with all that i am hoping the week will go quick. Trouble is DH wants to BD sometime this week but i feel so grumpy and itchy don't want to. He says its famine or feast in this house. 5 times last week and none this!! and if AF comes mon then none for next week!! oh well he can suffer a bit aw well. You start back at work in few weeks what do you do???

jellylegs · 07/10/2008 16:32

Helo all older ladies TTC!. Have been away from computer for a while so catching up-nightmare week at work.
Spats-I hope you are not in to much discomfort with skin condition, its the last thing u need to be thinking about I bet.Call NHS direct and get them to check implications of drugs if trying for a baby.Promise DH BD on your new table to keep him happy and occupied whilst you stop itching, you poor girl. Wish I had some medical knowledge

Insy-I too now gurgle with ency inside when I hear /see women who are expecting. Its so weird as I never really had to feel like this with other DD?Is this abnormal!!!!

Leaky-Thanks for advice. Its really hard to remain rational when you read & watch every article on fertility that rant on about 'FERTILITY DECLINING AT 35!!!! AAAAAAhhhh. Then you see glamorous celebrity knocking babies out when they are 45 etc...........

Everyone-Its good to be able to have a moan as I feel like I shouldn't be moaning as I have 2 beautiful DD's. I havn't told any friends that I have had every test under the sun and have 2nd appointment in Fertility clinic. Dh has already said that we couldn't afford fertility treatment......and we certainly wouldn't get it free!!!

Ilovebeingamummy · 07/10/2008 20:18

Hi all

Well I am feeling better about m/c now and hoping to get pg again this month (perhaps I should buy a lottery ticket if I do - 2 months in a row...what are the odds??)

Now on CD11 and think I am ovulating (EWCM) so planning a bd tonight!

Its just the thought of the 2ww and the probability of af that I can't stand.... Nothing new there

OP posts:
insywinsyspider · 07/10/2008 20:20

hi jelly - don't feel bad for having every test, I was having blood tests and had a scan lined up cause no af since ds2 was born, I told 1 mum and she looked at me like I was mad butwhen you are waiting for it to happen its an age - I haven't told anyone else irl, have you tried complementary therapies? my friend swears by accupuncture, I've been having reflexology and got af back whilst having it... it probably only relives stress but def made me feel more in control.
and its not abnormal to be envious of pg women, again I'm prob only trying to validate my own abnormality

spats - my dh could emphathise with the feast or famine! hope you manage to hold off testing because i think you're right you might get a false negative, hope rest of week goes v quickly for you! oh and I'm a mechanical engineer

insywinsyspider · 07/10/2008 20:21

welcome back ilovebeingamummy x

spats · 08/10/2008 19:27

how is everyone going?? Had to go buy pg test with girl from work -how ironic is that. I reakon she is as she can't remmeber when her last period was which says alot, bless her she is just sticking her head in the sand. She was doing test after work and said would text me. Well took my mind of my life for a bit helping her with hers. I think each time i get AF i may treat myself to a massage or beauty treatment so it cheers me up. Could do with a pedicure so may book that for later next week so can look foward to something. Boobs hurting alot now which is earlier than happened last month when think miscarried. i know i keep writing that i think i'm not pg this month. I hope if i psychologically prepare myself i will feel better next week when AF arrives.N I am a glass 1/2 empty no 1/2 full kind of girl!!!

spats · 09/10/2008 12:30

girl at work not pg - thank goodness for her (and me!!) 4 days to go until AF due - itching slightly better today so can smile and not being such a miserable cow to DH!!!

jellylegs · 09/10/2008 14:23

Spats-Thinking of you..... let us know!4 days and counting.

insywinsyspider · 10/10/2008 19:58

this am I got a faint positive, trying to play it down, worried I've tested too early but my cheap internet tests arrived early and begged me to pee on them I'm 12 dpo btw no idea when af should be due as first cycle since stopped bfeeding.... aggg... I felt pg this am so I tested but it could be chemical couldn't it?? I need a sainity check girls, is 12dpo way way to early to test, I tested same time for ds2 tho but my temps are much lower this time...

hope everyone else is doing ok (sorry for the self obsessed message!)
