I have 3.2 yr old dd, 18mth ds, on CD2 ttc number 3. Am feeling like AF is going to feeling like it takes forever this month!

Just curious on other age gaps and all things re: number 3!

fedup - sorry didn't mean to make you feel bad either - it really is fab news x

ilovebeingamummy - we're bd every other day (am knackered ) also temping and chart not showing even hint of ov, yes cd 18, using opk's too, finding it all so frustrating already! hope you're keeping well too and that those tests keep getting darker by the day

Ilovebeingamummy · 24/09/2008 17:18

insy - have you thought of just doing the bding and not trying to predict ov? I did thaat with dd in 2004 and ot drov me mad (and took 12 mths) with ds and bean(!) we decided to to just try and bd regularly (at least every 2-3 days) instead and both times it has worked in 1-2 cycles.

Just MHO but i found the OPKs/temping soul destroying and inaccurate- too many variables. I just figue if we're bd aall the time anyway, we can't miss it It may just be me though.

Really hope it happens for you soon x

Hi insy, don't worry I'm still here! Think I'm now on CD20 - AF due next friday- which still seems forever away!

In spite of best laid plans both DH & I got a nasty cold last week so BD'd less than we'd hoped to- mainly between 9 & 14 days...then nothing - DH has been away since Monday... So not as hopeful as I might have been. Still if I did ovulate on CD14 (have no idea as don't seem to get any symptoms...but with a reg 28day cycle that's quite feasible I think) then we might have a chance...
Am still determined to not test until next friday...please keep reminding me of that!!

Ilovebeingamummy & Fedup- CONGRATS! Hope they are sticky beans (and hope your good luck rubs off on us!!)

insywinsyspider · 25/09/2008 19:46

hello madmarried! I'm CD20 aswell but no ov showing up yet although kind of feel like it might be soon, cm changed today so you never know - good luck with holding off testing! I'm the wrong person to ask to stop you

hi ilovebeingamummy - for both ds's I didn't have a cycle - for ds2 I only had 1 period in the 3 months after I stopped bfeeding and we conceived, so I find temping reassuring so I can see if I even have a chance, also my consultant said charting is v useful for him to see what my 'cycles' are like so I'm keen to do it even if only for this cycle just so I know something is happening! then I think I'm going to bin my thermometer! hope you are feeling ok too x

Ilovebeingamummy · 26/09/2008 17:21

Just to let you know my tfp has ended in lots of bleeding today. Will check back when i have got myself together a bit x

I don't really know what to say but big hugs from me and here if you want to chat x x

madmarriedNika · 28/09/2008 11:51

Ilovebeingamummy- I'm so sorry Also sending lots of hugs- be gentle on yourself xx

Ilovebeingamummy · 28/09/2008 19:48

I am starting to get my head together now and accept that we just have to move on to next month.

With hindsight I recognise that I knew something wasn't right when i was a week overdue before getting a very faint positive.

Hope everyone else is doing ok x

insywinsyspider · 28/09/2008 19:55

glad you're starting to feel ok about it x

all ok here - got +ve opk so trying to take advantage of it!

madmarriedNika · 29/09/2008 23:21

I'm afraid not having much luck this month- AF arrived very unexpectedly today- some 5 days before I expected (am only on CD24)

Come on Insy...have everything crossed for you! xx

Ilovebeingamummy · 30/09/2008 16:42

Hi MMN sorry to heear af arrived - but at least you can stick with us on our journey through next month

Insy - fingers are crossed your bd-ing pays off!

OP posts:
spats · 30/09/2008 17:15

I am new to mumsnet and read your link and thought i may join in if i may. ttc#3 and am on CD16. We BD on CD13 and CD14 and now husband has gone away and i get a pos on ovulation kit on CD16. I am guessing if i don't ovulate for 24-48 hours like the packet says i will be CD17 or CD18. I hope this is not to late, anyone know??

insywinsyspider · 30/09/2008 20:19

hi spats! I don't think its impossible... I thought (and this is dragging any knowledge I have from school!) that sperm can live for 3-5 days? but then I don't know if that was scare tactics to make us think even thinking bout sex would get us pg I honestly believed I should have a 28 day cycle and that I'd be pg first cycle before I came on here and found the truth! I'm sure someone else knows...

MMN - sorry to hear af arrived, how strange it came early, has it happened before?

thanks for messages - keeping almost everything crossed too

Ilovebeingamummy · 30/09/2008 21:27

HI and welcome spats - insy is right, sperm live for up to five days, so still possible!

Insy - I have found myself wondering whether sex ed should be updated to include the fact that its only when you don't want a baby that just looking lustily and the boy over the road is going to get you pregnant - soon as you do and you've committed to relationship with said boy, you'll be charting, temping and weeing on sticks like a thing possesses only to find that it really isn't that easy

madmarriedNika · 01/10/2008 10:10

Hello Spats! How old are your other DCs? Hoping this is the month for you- like Insy & Ilove have said, sperm can live for up to 5 days (if in the right sort of cervical mucous...but that's a whole other story so don't be worrying about that!)- so fingers crossed for you!!

Thanks for your kind words ladies. Insy- no AF has never come this early before, so I was really really suprised- I'm usually regular as clockwork and can predict when it's due to the hour almost (and bang on 28 days). So who knows why this month my body's playing tricks! At first I kind of hoped it might have been an implantation bleed but without doubt it's AF- and very heavy too

Anyway I'm in good company for the next month of trying
Foolishly worked out what my due date would be if I do fall preggers this month (i know, that's like jinxing it really!!) and it would fall on my 30th birthday (3rd July) so here's hoping.... I was born 4 ays after my mum's 30th and my mum was born 4 days after my grandmother's 40th so there's something about June/July and years ending in '9 for us!

leaky · 01/10/2008 14:13

Hi everyone, only just spotted this thread.

I'm ttc #3 & have 2 DS,one is 5yrs & the other is 2.5yrs.Am on cycle 2 of trying properly.Obviously trying for a girl this time so did the way of BDing & stopping 3-4 days before OV to let the boy sperm die off & give the girl sperm a chance to get there! I know it sounds weird but it worked for my friend & her friend who had 2 boys each previously.

My AF is due today.....aaagh! Only been regular for the past 5mths & have been spot on CD34 which still amazes me as I have always been so irregular until then.No symptoms of pregnancy or AF so getting quietly excited but trying not to

spats · 01/10/2008 19:35

I have 2 dss. one is 6 years and one is 3 years. I am after another ds to make "legends of the fall", i love that film!!!!. My husband would prefer dd i think. Fell within first month with other 2 so this is all new ( and frustrating) for me. Fingers crossed for you Leaky, hopefully you will have news for us in the next few days. I was worried about not BD nearing ovulation but sounds like thats what you did on purpose to get a girsl so that makes me feel better, however Dh came back late last night so did BD but not sure if too late. Have to wait those dreaded 2 weeks. Off to do my ballet class and to take mind of the wait. I am getting obsessed with this website, i this normal? i have to check the links daily and sometimes more - feels like therapy!!!

insywinsyspider · 01/10/2008 21:50

Yes spats its normal to be obsessed with MN! or I could just be trying to validate my own obsession there I am normal honest - the worst is fertility friend if you do charting - I spend ages looking at my chart

ilovebeingamummy - lol, I know what you mean, ds1 took 12 mo of trying (I wasn't having periods but thats a diff story) we starting trying as soon as married and on our first wedding anniversary dh announced that he'd worked out the sure way to get me pg was to get p*ssed on white cider and have sex behind the garage needless to say as romanic as that sounded I didn't take him up on offer!

mmn - you are in good company, i'm in 2ww and no symptoms just not sure it'll happen this month, not sure i'm minding the wait so far (only 3 dpo tho!) at least the pressures off - we did all we can!

hi leaky - so tempted to test yet? in all honesty I'd love a girl too to balance on my house, are you doing any other things like diet or just cut off timing? a friend of mine tried cut off btw and also got her girl

leaky · 02/10/2008 06:14

Good morning everyone,

Oh it's a beautiful day & I haven't even looked outside yet!!

Woke at 4.30am & wee'd in a jug but then got back in bed & couldn't sleep so decided to get up at 5 & do the clear blue digi test.BFP BFP It came up really quickly.Am so excited now.Had to wake DH to tell him the news but still couldn't get back to sleep.Literally conceived 15 days ago,it's gonna be a long wait til scan & til I can tell people

Hi insywinsy I didn't do any of the diet stuff but just the timing. It worked for my friend & she knows loads of others it's worked for too.Feeling really positive for us but really need to be prepared for a boy

spats · 02/10/2008 09:26

Congratulations Leaky - i am really please for you . How many months did you try? Let us all know how you are going.

Insy what CD are you on - when is AF due - will we be doing the 2 weeks wait and test at same time???

insywinsyspider · 02/10/2008 09:32

congrats leaky! hope all goes well, and thinking pink for you but you're right its not certain - are you going to find out at 20 wk scan? I didn't with other two but would be tempted this time - will be stalking you to find out!

spats - I'm on CD27, but I ov slightly later than most I think, it was CD23 so I'm 4 dpo - how about you? fertility friend has my test date as the 17th so I'm going to do my real best to hang on till then but if temps stay high I know it'll be before then! with conceived ds2 I tested 13 dpo and got bfp so the temptation will prob be too much

leaky · 02/10/2008 10:12

Thanx spats & insy.I'd been trying for 3mths but properly 2mths,so really lucky it didn't take long at all. Will definitely find out what sex the baby is....long way off that yet thou

spats · 02/10/2008 10:27

Insy - I think must be 2 dpo. I am usually 28 days , altough i think i was preg last month and miscarried at only 4 1/2 weeks so not sure what cycle will be. My AF is due on 13th Oct. I am usually to scared to test until i am a week late so maybe we will test together!!!

Not used to all this as conceived 1st time with 2 DS's.

DO you have the computer on all day??

madmarriedNika · 02/10/2008 10:34

Many congrats Leaky!
Good luck Spats & Insy with the waiting...try to resist those tests!!

Only on CD4 now so ages for me to wait yet, though planning lots of BDing between CD9 &CD17 in the hope we catch ov this time- hoping all colds & tuimmy bugs stay away and DH doesn't have to go away with work this month. 3rd month trying so hopefully 3rd time lucky- like you spats with my last 2 I conceived straight away so never had to do any of this date-checking/symptom spotting etc. and finding it hard (I'm so impatient!!). My SIL took 19 months to conceive their first, with one early mc at 6 wks along the way- and nothing wrong with their fertility. It was so hard on them- couldn't imagine it

jellylegs · 02/10/2008 16:49
