Trying for a second baby and feeling disheartened

Just wanted to vent and see if anyone is in the same boat atm.

We’ve been TTC number 2 for about 6 cycles now and I got another BFN this morning, at around 11/12dpo. I got my hopes up this month as we really put work into it (! - not easy with a toddler) and I have been having cramps for a few days, which was a symptom with my previous pregnancies (dd1 plus an mc).

We conceived dd1 fairly easily, in about 3 months (although this came right after the miscarriage at 7 weeks, which also took about 3 cycles to conceive). So I naively hoped this one would be quick too.

DD1 is 20 months now and I'm starting to worry about the age gap and whether she'll have a sibling (I know I'm getting ahead of myself). I regret every time I asked parents if they were planning another!!! It's such a tough question to answer when you're trying.

I’m finding myself worrying that something has changed and reduced our fertility. In particular, my dh is now on antidepressants which could potentially affect motility. It would be a big effort for him to stop taking these as they've helped him so much. Another factor could be the fact I had a c section, but I don’t know much about about this. We're also now a few years older (35 and 36). Also, I'm still breastfeeding a bit. But my cycles are pretty regular so I don't think this is affecting things too much - any thoughts on this?

I know that really 6 months isn't very much in the great scheme of things, but it stung this month to see the BFN!

Hi everyone! Just found this post and found it really helpful and not make me feel so alone! Will soon be heading into month 6 of ttc no 2 - we have a 2 year old girl who was conceived on first try. I know how lucky we are to have a her and feel so guilty that I am not being present enough for her and enjoying these early years as all I can think about is getting pregnant, feel I’m getting obsessed. I am using temp drop, naitre sachets and lh tests. Even tried cough medicine last ovulation as my sister swears this helped her conceive all her kids, but period arrived yesterday (the day my app predicted)
I also had an ECS with my daughter so have been worried this has impacted my ability to conceive. I’ve ordered a hertility test and depending on the results think I’m going to book a scan and looking at acupuncture. Really hope we all get our positive tests soon x

Hi Hereforaread! Welcome - sorry you’re going through this. It’s so hard! Especially on the days you can’t think about anything else. Honestly makes me have so much respect for those who take ages and ages to conceive their first. What are naitre sachets? How are you feeling about this month?

I’ve had another frustrating month. Got a fever just as I was about to ovulate which has definitely scuppered it. So I think now I have to wait for it to kick off again. Annoying as it was all going very well. Had EWCM and rising LH. We’d got a few goes in with good timing and I was very pleased as DH was really invested this month - initiating and didn’t seem to be affected by the ‘pressure’ as he sometimes is!

so now I’m just waiting for the LH to rise again. Unless it’s an anovulatory cycle I suppose. Also a waste of £120 of acupuncture money 🤣

another thing to note - because I was ill anyway I thought I’d try mucinex (particular cough syrups in Uk) as I’d heard it can help. But I think it may have delayed ovulation too! I’ve read that can happen. So take care if you try it!

Feeling quite low and hormonal today, almost like af is round the corner. Stating the obvious but I just so want this to be easy!

How is everyone else doing? If you have good news please share!

Naitre are fertility supplements in a liquid sachet form, they are meant to absorb better then tablets much haven’t helped me and are expensive so I’ve actually cancelled my order today, going back on the pregnacare ones as I used them whilst conceiving my daughter. That’s so annoying about getting a fever, I’m hoping it doesn’t affect anything for you, i wouldn’t lose hope just yet! Not feeling positive this month, only managed to try twice as my husband goes away for work and keep getting second pregnancy announcements, had two this week when meeting up with friends. I’m so happy for them but then I feel a bit sorry for myself that it worked for them the months I’ve been trying, and on their first attempt too apparently.
Just starting the TTW now and really trying not to think about it or obsess over my temperatures!
Hoping some people on the thread have had good news!
