hello!
any help please
I get spotting 4-7 days before my period every month and have done for years. All my tests are normal.
i am now ttc and would love to hear some good news stories about people who spot but managed to have successful pregnancies!
my anxiety is through the roof!
thank you

Yes, eventually, but we had other issues as well. Strangely the spotting has stopped since I gave birth 🤷🏻‍♀️

WeAreOnTheRoadToNowhere · 18/01/2026 20:46

I always spotted 4-5 days before period and continued before and after pregnancy. Some spotting early pregnancy but stopped

Thank you. Do you think those issues caused the spotting? I’ve heard a couple of people now saying the spotting stopped after conceiving which is great news. Do you think the spotting caused any issues for you conceiving?

Great thank you. How long did it take to to conceive and did you take anything to help with the spotting?

@Kbaby21So I have PCOS which was part of the problem re conceiving but I think our main problem was my husband’s low sperm motility. I was never given a reason for the spotting though taking progesterone post ovulation did help my daughter to stick.

WeAreOnTheRoadToNowhere · 19/01/2026 06:28

It took 11 months for me but not related to the spotting, DP had an issue
I dont think the spotting impacted my ability to get pregnant. As above I was never given a reason for it and just thought it was one of those things
Good luck OP

Yes I did and still spotted month I fell pregnant but proper period didn't start which made me take a test. Must have been implantation bleeding.

Jennifer89 · 24/01/2026 19:46

I fell pregnant month after hcg tubal test which was all fine and can increase chance of conceiving.

Hi thanks for commenting. Did you have the same spotting issue? What is the hcg tubal test?

Same when we were trying for our first. I’d forgotten about that.

I've always spotted before a period (up to a week before). I did before being pregnant, the cycle I got pregnant and every period after.

It took 18 months for me to get pregnant successfully. I had 2 early miscarriages in that time. We had all the tests and my DHs sperm count was low and one of my ovaries was polycystic. I have no idea if the spotting is indicative of anything that could have contributed to fertility issues (my hormone levels were considered in the normal range).

The cycles I got pregnant were when I'd taken soy isoflavones and had reflexology. I genuinely think both of those things helped, especially the soy.

I did, it really started for me after a chemical pregnancy and it was being investigated. I had progesterone levels checked (normal), then an ultrasound to look for polyps but nothing was found so I was booked in for a hysterscopy. Found out I was pregnant the day before the hysterscopy and I'm now 15 weeks :)

Huge congrats on your pregnancy! Can I ask how long it took you to conceive your successful pregnancy and if you had spotting before a positive pregnancy test and if so did the spotting stop eventually? ☺️.

Thank you so much for your reply and tips. I have looked into reflexology but it’s quite expensive where i am but I think it will consider if it’s not happening for us. All my tests have been normal so there is nothing obvious for why I get the spotting and I am still unsure if it impacts on conception and if it is linked to higher chance of miscarriage. I got pregnant before and unfortunately this was a chemical pregnancy we have only just started trying again but worried this spotting may impact.

What is a hcg tubal test?

It was a HyCoSy where they put dye in your tubes to see if they’re clear. I had no blockages that they could see but it did seem to give everything a good flush 😅 That was on Christmas Eve 2019. I got pregnant mid Feb 2020.

Oh that is so interesting thank you for this! This is the only thing I haven’t had done in terms of checks

The hcg test is to check no blockage in tubes effecting fertility. I was referred by nhs for it after year of infertility but it can be done privately also. Apparently if tubes are clear fertility chances increase 3 months after

Yes was just first month really after conceiving then went away. I wouldn't worry. I did used to worry as got spotting few days before period, I think it is normal. I still fell pregnant eventually.

Did you have any progesterone support?

No.. I did have a fibroid removed also which waa found on scan. Periods less heavy after removed but spotting still persisted

Thank you. That’s been really helpful. A lot of things I have heard says it may be due to low progesterone and some people have got progesterone support so it’s nice to hear you managed without as I cannot get anyone to prescribe to me.
