I do strongly believe in fate as well. What a horrible ordeal for you LB, that must of been dreadful, but as you said it has made you into who you are. I feel the same about my ME, I lost everything I thought was important to me when I got really ill this time round (e.g uni, friends, the ability to walk more than 200m) only to realise that none of that actually mattered or defined who I was as a person. Its made me into me and although at times it was a living hell I wouldn't actually change any of it.

lastboxoftampons · 19/06/2008 17:04

I think we're all saying the same thing here, no wonder you feel you're going round in circles Glas!

And what a story LB I know we don't do them, but hugs anyway!

It's funny, I look at my brother who is two years younger than me, married with a house (not a flat, like us!), living two blocks from my parents with two kids and one on the way - and I get a bit jealous. He has everything that I would one day like to have, but I've taken a bit of a different route. I know that when I was 26 (which is when his DS was born) I wasn't ready to have a family and settle down the way he was, nevermind living two blocks away from my parents! I had a blast in my early 20s before I met DH and then he and I had an amazing time together before really settling down. And to whoever said your priorities change once you have kids - well, I think they change anyway. We don't do the things we did when we were younger and I think we naturally slowed down in our own time and that's one of the reasons we now feel that we're ready to have a family.

Playingthewaitinggame · 19/06/2008 17:08

You're right LBOT, we do all actually agree with each other, even if we have slightly different view points. Tis probably why we chat so well! I also agree that I think you get ready for a lifestyle change. I can't wait to give up the pub in favour of the park. Bring it on!

Playingthewaitinggame · 19/06/2008 17:10

ooo, I've just got myself really excited now!!!!!! I've been trying really hard not to think ttc = baby because sometimes it doesn't and I haven't wanted to get my hopes up. Right now though I want a baby and I want one now

tinkhasabean · 19/06/2008 17:12

i am started to think that i may be able to feel slight fluttering.

Playingthewaitinggame · 19/06/2008 17:13

wow, thats amazing early Tink

glaskham · 19/06/2008 17:15

haha playing!! yeah i do think we all have the same idea's, just not nesecarily (sp? i know its wrong, cant spell that word) in the same order of priority!!

Tink- how exiting- but its not just wind is it???

and i also feel like you playing, want a baby now, and i already have 2dc's!!!

tinkhasabean · 19/06/2008 17:15

of course not i am a lady

Playingthewaitinggame · 19/06/2008 17:16

Right I would love to stay and chat all night but DH has just informed me that a couple of mates are coming round for dinner and I am cooking risotto . So that will mean dashing to the supermarket, manic house tidying then on with the cooking. Some notice would be nice!

glaskham · 19/06/2008 17:17

DH's eh!!! night playing- enjoy your evening!!

lastboxoftampons · 19/06/2008 17:22

Yikes, Playing! Good luck with that!

Oh, and we've got a family friendly pub right across from the gate to the park a block away from us. Can't wait to be sitting outside of it with a little one after a long walk in the park Best of both worlds!

glaskham · 19/06/2008 17:24

we ahve a massive playing field only 1 house away from ours, on the same side of the road too, and we've been taking ds for half an hour in a morning to ride his bike which is lots of fun and just how i imagined he'd learn!! he cant really do it on our grass

Cosmogirl · 19/06/2008 17:28

Night Playing. I get mad if DH does last minute inviting. I am a planner and like at least 3 days notice! [anal...] Plus, the house is often not ready for unexpected visitors, which I blame on both of us working full-time and DH not helping with house work at al .

Well, has been some really interesting comments on here today - has made fascinating reading, and to think it all started with Charlotte Church .

glaskham · 19/06/2008 17:32

haha!! i didn't even realise she'd had her 1st till a couple of weeks ago- the only gossip i get about celebs is in the small tv clips for heat mag/hello/OK sort of stuff!!

lardybump · 19/06/2008 17:38

Night playing. Right what shall we talk about now?

glaskham · 19/06/2008 17:49

dunno- i'm stumped!!

lastboxoftampons · 19/06/2008 18:18

Got one:

If you need a product called sandwich filler, you have no business making a sandwich in the first place.

Discuss!

glaskham · 19/06/2008 18:25

haha- are we that bored???.... well i personally HATE sandwich fillers... i love all sorts of sandwiches but nothing ready-made!!

lastboxoftampons · 19/06/2008 18:29

It's something I've always pondered since moving to the UK. DH assures me that you don't put JUST sandwich filler in a sandwich but I just think it's a really weird name for a product!

lardybump · 19/06/2008 18:33

I have never seen a product called sandwich filler. What is it sliced cheese? Tuna and mayo mixed together??

glaskham · 19/06/2008 18:34

well i think all sandwich fillers are horrid and tasteless- i make my own egg mayo for the kids and they lvoe it- costs me loads less than it would to buy!! the heinz toast topper tin things are rancid too!!

glaskham · 19/06/2008 18:35

pots of tuna mayo, egg mayo, tuna mayo & sweetcorn, heinz do jars of stuff like chopped gerkins, cucumber, peppers all in a salad cream sauce and its awful!!

Ses15 · 19/06/2008 18:37

Evening ladies! Your afternoon conversation has made v good reading! Again - I'm in agreement with pretty much all said. Tink - DH and I met over the internet too! I'd previously thought twice that I'd met the man I was going to spend my life with and have children but they both ended up being unhealthy relationships for one reason or another. I never thought I'd ever be as happy as I am now with DH back in 2002 when I had a disasterous year and thought my "life plan" was never going to come to fruition. Then the internet intervened and met DH in October 2004!

Playing - I really want a baby too! In fact I'm having a greedy day and want 3 or 4 (maybe not all at the same time!). Just worried that my age (35) is against me and now frustrated that this situation I'm in at the moment is delaying it all. I had lunch today with a friend (I'm godmother to her 4yr old ds) and she's just had ds2, 6 weeks. I loved having a cuddle but it did make me feel a bit envious and emotional...

I think I just have to try and learn some patience and keep thinking positively that it will happen. It's just so nice to have all my mn friends to share it with and to enjoy sharing their journeys too!

Ses15 · 19/06/2008 18:38

As for sandwich fillers, good old cheese and pickle will do me! I have never made a sandwich using one of those jars!

lardybump · 19/06/2008 18:40

I can not believe you can get sandwich fillings in a jar... how lazy are some people.
