Hi everyone, setting up a new months thread for those of us who already know we’re out for August. I’m going on to cycle 3. Hope this can continue to be a place where we can chat and support one another.

Afternoon all💛 currently 5DPO on cycle #2 for baby #1. Feeling quite good actually, planning on testing on Sunday. I found the August thread really helpful last month, so jumping over to the September one!

@LaurLou22 I think that’s where all this testing falls down. You have to be so on it to get it perfect. We’re sticking with every other day from about day 8 (I know I ovulate earlier than some) until my thermometer says ovulation has happened! Too many chances to miss it if not I fear. That said I’m not pregnant so don’t listen to what I do!

Hello - can I please join this thread? I'm 37 years old and on Cycle 22 (😳) of TTC #2. We're in the midst of our first IUI cycle - currently on CD9 and hoping to get good news at my monitoring scan tomorrow. I need someone to talk to about this besides my husband who is bored of hearing about it!

Oh how exciting! Good luck! Is this monitoring for when you ovulate?

You still have time - you can ovulate 12-72 hours after the LH peak and the egg can be fertilised for up to 24 hours after ovulation!

Thanks! It's a stimulated cycle, so I've been on injectable medication to make the follicles grow - the scan tomorrow is to check whether they're growing, to check that I don't have too many growing (more than three and the cycle will be cancelled) and to check my lining is thickening properly. If I have one or more follicles larger than (I think) 18mm and lining over 7mm, then I'll take a trigger shot and IUI will be scheduled for 36 hours later. If the follicles aren't there yet then it'll be more medication and monitoring. Hoping that tomorrow will show one or two good sized follicles and a thick lining ready to go for a Saturday IUI (which would be ideal as means no need to book time off work). Fingers crossed!

@overworktotally agree it does come with lots more anxiety! I think it doesn’t help that I usually ovulate around cycle day 14-16 but I’m cycle day 20 so just completely thrown off! I feel like I get into a nice routine of knowing my bodies behaviours and then it throws me a curve ball to keep me on my toes 🤣

@Muddysocks1 Everywhere I’m looking says 8% chance each month?? I’m happy with 20% if that’s what you’re saying haha!

@blackberryhilloh my word 😔 22 cycles! Did it take you long with your first? Wishing you luck with IUI! Had you tried anything previously to this? X

It took us 11 cycles with our first - we had some initial investigations done including a HyCoSy to check my tubes and I conceived the cycle after that. I've done 5 letrozole cycles over the past year but no joy - I've never had a positive test aside from the cycle I conceived my son. We're classed as unexplained - all of my tests are normal, I ovulate regularly, my husband has not great morphology (between 1.5 - 4% in each of the SAs he's had done) but other parameters are good so no-one's ever been concerned about it. Bit of a mystery, but there we are!

If I'm not pregnant by March then we're calling it, so these IUIs are a bit of a last attempt at trying something different to see if it'll get us there - we can't justify the cost of IVF when we already have one happy, healthy child, and I don't have the energy to keep trying indefinitely.

@blackberryhillthis ttc journey really has been a journey for you! It's so difficult isn't it. Have they ever suggested progesterone?
Are you tempted by a hycosy again? Seeing as you fell pregnant after that last time. Ugh I sometimes feel like it's a guessing game! Xx

Yes, I've taken progesterone suppositories before (got a private prescription online) - I used them for a couple of cycles but didn't feel they were really doing anything beyond delaying my period (and therefore my next cycle) from starting. I'll be back on the progesterone post-IUI so we'll see if they do anything this time.

I also had a repeat HyCoSy at the end of last year before doing my first letrozole cycle. Part of why I wanted to try IUI was in case part of the reason we conceived last time was because the sperm had an 'easier' path to the egg - probably nonsense but as you say it's such a guessing game!

@blackberryhill Good luck for today, I hope your scan goes well and the follicles are ready. Having unexplained infertility always sounds quite mentally draining 😞 But at least you’ve had your son before so you know you can conceive. Fingers crossed for you too.

@FunnySam I think I heard it’s 20% if you’re younger than 35 and then 10% if you’re above 35 but less than 40. Very narrow odds really for everyone when you think about it

Could I get some advice on my ovulation tests please? I’m so confused! I’ve been logging tests since 30th August. I came off my pill a few weeks ago and was expecting a withdrawal bleed pretty quickly. It didn’t happen and then I read that sometimes you can ovulate first and then get a normal period. Anyway, I logged the tests in the easy at home app and even though some looked quite dark, they’re all reading low. I then put them in the premom app (they are noted on the test label too?) and it says high. Has anyone else had this experience? Pics for reference. Thanks x

@CDD1992 hey!! I always thought the two lines had to be the same colour for ovulation strips for it to be positive, so I would have taken the last two in the pic as positive and the rest negative! But I could be wrong that’s always what I thought tho x

@StayingHopefulx thank you for your reply! I’m even more confused from today’s test as it’s clearly not as dark as the control line and yet the premom says High again 🙄 maybe I’ve just got a duff batch?

@StayingHopefulx I've always found the apps very hit and miss in terms of interpreting the strips - stuff like lighting can throw them off massively, so I've ended up just using my own judgement to rad them. I'd say the second to last one looks close but maybe not quite peak - but if you're only testing once at the start of the day then may be it surged further in the day?

Thanks! Had my scan this morning and went well - lining is 10.6mm so well over the 7mm minimum they wanted to see (which I'm pleased by because I'm always paranoid about my lining) and one lead follicle of 19mm. The other two follicles were around 12mm so not likely to come to anything - I was slightly disappointed because I'd hoped I might get two follicles so a slightly improved chance, but I definitely don't want multiples so probably for the best.

What did catch me by surprise is that they want to do the IUI tomorrow - I had thought the absolute earliest we would do it would be Saturday. They gave me a trigger shot to take right then (because the one I'd bought was just chilling at home in the fridge 😂) and we're booked in for lunchtime tomorrow!

@blackberryhill thank you!! Would you recommend testing twice a day AM/PM for ovulation? I’m going to take them with a pinch of salt I think and try and use my judgement, think it’s just harder this month as I’m clueless as to where I am in my cycle.

I started letrozole last night, so far no bad side effects other than feel quite groggy. I used to occasionally take a nytol sleeping tablet when I wasn’t sleeping well and would feel like this in the morning - slightly drugged! But not unpleasant, and luckily I’m working from home.

Tested w fmu and it was a definite bfn😣 Im CD 29 and my cycles ate usually 33+ days long so I guess i'm not fully out yet but it is disappointing! I’ve had cramps for the past two days so hopefully this is AF on her way if i’m out:/
