Hi all. Hoping I can jump on here 😊. Partner and I are trying (ripe old age of 39) for our first. Had miscarriage in April after 5 months trying. Incidental finding of an endometrial polyp which I since had removed in July. So this is our first cycle "cracking on" - as the nurse put it 😂.
Feel so much reassurance reading these forums and knowing so many people in the same situation.
I'm 7dpo today, did a test even though I knew it wouldn't show anything- but here's hoping as there's still time 🤞🏻

Sorry about your loss. Definitely loads of time at 7dpo. Lots of luck to you

SureLook · 14/08/2025 11:21

@Ella31 I know, my username is such a giveaway 😂 yeah, the milestones are tough alright. My MMC baby's due date is next week and I'm definitely finding it harder the closer it gets. Something nice for your boys birthday sounds lovely.
It is great about the change but I think the way it has to be two in a row is tricky. But I suppose two is better than three!
Is this your first month back TTC? I'm also 9dpo and will test on Sunday 🤞🏻

@peanutForever that's good that they're keeping an eye. Your symptoms sound wonderful 🥴 but it'll all be worth it!

I had my appointment with the doctor today. It was mainly just filling out paperwork. She put on my notes for the hospital that I've had 2 early miscarriages. I'm in the Irish system. @SureLook @Ella31 when were you called for first scan in the Public system? Doctor said I'd likely be called in 7 weeks time (12 weeks), that seems awfully long away! I wondered whether the note about the losses would mean they'll bring me in earlier?

Muddysocks1 · 14/08/2025 13:42

peanutForever · 14/08/2025 09:58

@SureLookits still there but tiny so they are keeping an eye on it, and yes lots and lots of nausea, fatigue, dry heaving a lot worse than my DS but i am fully suspecting we are having another DS again!

@Iris2024@ChaE05i havent got an appt yet for my 12 week scan which is quite annoying, but i remember with my son it literally came a few days before...ive also just had my booking appt so maybe soon

@Muddysocks1welcome back, how have you been?

I’m alright thanks, feeling a bit fed up with it all. It’s really draining - I’m losing hope that it will happen naturally now and just holding out hope for the fertility clinic xx

SureLook · 14/08/2025 14:01

@ForGiddyDreamer on my DD I had my scan in the hospital at exactly 12 weeks but went for a private one at ten weeks. It was meant to be 8 but we had Covid. I would ring the EPU if I was you and see if they'll bring you in for an early scan. The guidelines are two losses in a row now so they should accept you.
I should also say I was semi private rather than public. I would imagine you could request early scans if you went fully private. But definitely ring the EPU.

@Muddysocks1 the fertility clinic will definitely be able to help x

ForGiddyDreamer · 14/08/2025 14:05

Thanks @SureLook I think semi private is only available in Dublin. I'm on the border of Limerick/Tipp but Limerick is closest. I'll see if they can take me for 10 weeks. Waiting for 12 seems so long!

SureLook · 14/08/2025 14:10

@ForGiddyDreamer yes, it's only in Dublin. I know, it's such a long time to wait. Especially when you've had a loss. Hopefully they'll take you earlier. They'll probably still want to see you at 12 weeks anyway cause that's when they date the pregnancy.

Hi! We’re casually ttc this month, I’m 36 and would be ttc#3, our second is 6months old so we’re not in a big rush it’s okay if it happens to take months-a year+ but also feel age is not on our side, as well as a personal choice to not want to be having children much older than this, so we don’t want to wait around.

Don’t think it’s easy finding the time to try with 2 littles around. Thankfully they sleep through the night but so do I 😂

Im undecided if I want to bother with ovulation testing this month or just do it as and when we feel like and hope!! My cycle went back to normal pretty quickly after last baby and seems regular.. like clockwork.. so I might just try and leave it so it keeps the pressure off. We will see !!

Good luck to everyone and congrats to those who have had good news so far xx

@ForGiddyDreamer I decided to go private after losing my sons so I got scanned at the early pregnancy unit at about 6 weeks , My first proper scan was at 8 weeks. Im based in Cork so my obestrician is in cumh. Because of your early loses you can ask your doctor to refer you to the early pregnancy unit for an early scan. And you have every right to be scanned after your losses

Hello, I’m 34 and TTC baby#2. This is our first cycle and I’m not pregnant at 11DPO and I feel soooo bummed! I feel like I need a slap because I know how hard it is for some people to conceive. We fell first time with our daughter so maybe I just thought it would be that easy? I dunno I’m just really sad 😭

SureLook · 14/08/2025 16:39

@givingitanothergo hello and welcome! If you're pretty regular, you could try this month without testing and see how you go. Fingers crossed 🤞🏻

@LaurLou22 hello and welcome to you too! I'm the same. I conceived my DD first try and have had two losses since. I was very naive starting this journey again.

Im exactly the same, first cycle 11 dpo. I know the stats on it happening first go, am a bit older so also my chances are lower, and I’m still shocked and surprised that it didn’t happen. Doesn’t the universe know it should have made it happen anyway? 😂

Ah I’m so sorry to hear this that must have been so awful for you to experience, I’m keeping everything crossed for you!

I think I just need to allow myself to feel the feelings and then get back on it. Silver lining being I can maybe have a nice cocktail at bottomless brunch on Saturday 🤣.

TwinkleStarLight · 14/08/2025 17:23

Hello, new to this thread, hopee okay to join?

Currently TTC baby #2. First month actively trying. Baby #1 took 10 cycles to fall pregnant.

Can I ask if those of you who take Folic Acid have noticed a change in your cycles at all? Second month taking active folic and I’m experiencing light pink spotting mid cycle. Still not due AF for another week yet and this hasn’t happened before. Currently around 9DPO

givingitanothergo · 14/08/2025 19:14

@SureLook thank you 😊 I think I might!

@TwinkleStarLight I never had anything like that when trying to conceive my 2. Could it not be implantation bleeding? Though I never had that either. Fingers crossed for you!

SureLook · 14/08/2025 19:17

@LaurLou22 there's always a silver lining!

@TwinkleStarLight hello and welcome! My thoughts are implantation bleeding too. I've had that on two out of my three pregnancies.

The milestones are so hard particularly the due dates. I'm sorry you've gone through that. Be sure you do something nice that day. Yeah its my first month ttc since my daughter. She's 4 months old so I'm definitely going earlier than most. I hate ttc 🙈 i find it makes me so anxious

Notsure31 · 15/08/2025 07:12

Wondering if I can join?
This is our first month ttc again after a TFMR in March which had complications with retained tissue so delayed our journey.

I’ve also had 3 previous miscarriages and no living children so we are really keeping everything crossed, my TFMR pregnancy was the furthest I’ve carried (16 weeks) with the help of progesterone and aspirin 🤞

According to Premom I’ve ovulating today, we dtd on Saturday, Monday and Wednesday night. I had an LH reading of 1.27 on Wednesday night then it went up to 1.34 yesterday morning, we tried dtd again last night but it didn’t happen, we will try again later but I’m hoping we have still covered it enough?

Notsure31 · 15/08/2025 07:19

@SureLook just to add I’m with you about the milestones being tough, I think I remember your username from the August due date thread ❤my baby would have been due at the end of this month

YKM2829 · 15/08/2025 08:54

SureLook · 13/08/2025 18:59

@Iris2024 I know what you mean about DTD, I hate feeling like I have to do it at certain times. Fingers crossed for good results for the semen analysis. And hopefully you'll get pregnant by the time you get your appointment or you'll get pregnant right after the hycosy 🤞🏻

@YKM2829 when will you test?

@ForGiddyDreamer I totally understand the anxiety around certain timelines. You can't help but compare!
I'm so sorry to hear about DPs Dad. That's very unfortunate.
We also didn't DTD in my last pregnancy. I was too scared!
I agree with what @ChaE05 said about getting scanned. You won't hear a heartbeat and you may not see anything so you may have less reassurance than you think x

I'm due in from today, half tempted to get one today, but also tempted to wait till Monday I dunno xx

SureLook · 15/08/2025 09:38

@Ella31 thank you and same to you. Be kind to yourself!
It's a very anxious time isn't it? It's all consuming! I understand you starting early though.

@Notsure31 I'm so sorry to hear your pregnancy ended that way. After carrying for so long. I'm so sorry. I left the thread pretty quickly in January.
Did you test LH again after yesterday morning? If you're ovulating today then Monday and Wednesday should cover you as the sperm can live for five days. But I'd definitely try and go for it again today if you can. Just for extra!

@YKM2829 test whenever feels right for you!

OP posts:
Notsure31 · 15/08/2025 09:51

@SureLook

Yeah I tested it again through to yesterday evening and it went down to 0.67 to a then to 0.45 so think the 1.34 was my peak, so I reckon ovulation is most likely today. I’m so scared going back into trying again because it feels so uncertain. With each of my other 4 pregnancies I got pregnant first time straight away, so I’m placing a lot of expectations on it, but I had a lot of intervention after the TFMR so I’m worried that will have caused issues that weren’t there before. I had a fertility scan on Sunday though just for reassurance and everything looked good.

SureLook · 15/08/2025 11:16

@Notsure31 yeah, I would say you'll ovulate today as well. I know, its so hard trying again after loss. There's a WhatsApp group I'm in with women from here if you'd like to join. It's for TTC after loss.
I also caught first time on my first two pregnancies and third cycle on my third. Getting pregnant doesn't seem to be a problem, its staying pregnant! That's great that the scan looked good, that's reassuring. My cycles were a bit all over the place after my D&C but they did settle.

@SureLook @givingitanothergo i did wonder implantation bleeding but it’s now being going on 5 days, not sure implantation bleeding lasts that long?
