Cramping is perfectly normal.

DS slept for 11 hours last night. I couldn't believe it.

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 20/05/2008 07:51

Yes some cramping is normal, this bloody hurts! I don't remember it being this bad with the boys...

kayzisexpecting · 20/05/2008 07:55

The MW at the EPU told me that cramps are only a problem if you are also bleeding.

kayzisexpecting · 20/05/2008 07:57

But she also told me that I couldn't have got my BFP when I did as it wasn't 4 weeks after my last af. No I got it 3 weeks 6 days after!!

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 20/05/2008 08:06

I got my first very strong BFP at 28 days (4 weeks) would have easily been at least a faint BFP the day before, wouldn't have surprised me to see a faint one even at 26 days, the way I was feeling, and by the strength/time it took to show up.

I think it is my kidneys setting the cramps off, they are starting around my back and 'waving' round the front and over the bump (bump going very hard)

Gah, you can take paracetamol can't you?

kayzisexpecting · 20/05/2008 08:12

Yes you can take paracetamol.

My work clothes don't fit properly anymore and I don't think they have any trousers I can have that are bigger.

calsworld · 20/05/2008 08:20

Morning - any ideas how to entertain a 17 month old infectious but otherwise fine child for another day? Something that involveds minimal effort so I can surf mumsnet all day rest and let my tonsillitis get better, would be preferable??

HELP!

tinkstryingtochill · 20/05/2008 08:20

i am struggling to fit in my skirts as well already i am wearing long smock tops the rate i am going i am going to be huge in a few months
5 and a half weeks today

Squack · 20/05/2008 08:24

Moos...water...you too.

My brother has the same reaction to the shower, we live in different areas, and I thought we were just freaky in the family.

Wow I've never met anyone else who is allergic to water. Doesn't make the swimming baths much fun does it? Although I still go. I don't like swimming anyway so it doesn't bother me to not go either.

Paracetamol is fine yes Nat.

I don't avoid nuts during pg at all, or shellfish if I have the rare urge to have mussels. I don't normally eat soft cheese or pate. I can't remember what else you're meant to avoid.

I still drink alcohol but only if I feel like it and with all three pg I have instantly gone off it until about 16-18weeks with all three kids. I don't smoke.

I just cary on as normal. It's Dh that's the utter freak. He would have a list of contraband foods taped to me at all times so everyone can see what i'm supposd to eat/not eat.

He turns into the "grub gestapo" !

Well the is going very well atm. I think the not trying is having a rather positive effect on him

tinkstryingtochill · 20/05/2008 08:26

morning squack how are you

Moosma · 20/05/2008 08:40

Squack, I recently found out that a friend of mine is also allergic to water - I thought I was the only one too! I think the temperature has a lot to do with it, I always get it worse when I'm cold but the water is hot

I remember ordering some cheese cake in our local (it is delish!) when I was about 8.5 months with DD1 and being told that I couldn't have it as it had raw egg in. I put on my best Angry Pregnant Hippo face and growled 'Give me my cheesecake. Do NOT deny me cake!' They brought it out very quickly

Poor you Cals, what's the weather like there? Could you go for a walk (carefully avoiding all living beings)?

NJ, I've heard braxton hicks can start from as early as 6 weeks, you just don't normally notice them, maybe it's that? Like Kay says, don't worry (ha!) unless you have bleeding too.

Kay, have you told work yet? If they knew you'd been told to take it easy would they let you have extra breaks and do the light work?

Right, off to do breakfast, MNing, washing, MNing, hoovering MNing, other housework, then I shall be MNing, painting the garage this evening

Squack · 20/05/2008 08:40

Cals, try citv/cbeebies and flick between the two. I believe it works for me some bad mothers

Only if all else fails of course

Or place a washing up bowl of water in the garden with a couple of cups and then leave them to it check they're safe.

Squack · 20/05/2008 08:42

GJ can I be nosy and ask are you actually a Geordie? and do you also jog?

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 20/05/2008 09:06

I have taken some parrots, not making any difference yet.

Moos it could be BH, had no idea you can get so early on and if they are this strong now, it is going to be a looooooooong pregnancy!

Cal, I'd go with the water play outside, keeps them busy for hours, or if it is still a bit chilly for that yet, put loads of pots and pans out on the living room floor, wooden spoons and whisks, if he is anything like my 2 he'll happily bash away while you MN do the housework

I am with Squack, I do eat/drink what and when I feel like it. I do have to make a concerted effort to stop as much alcohol going in, unfortunatly, I don't go off it, in fact if anything I want it more because I know I can't it! LOL

calsworld · 20/05/2008 09:11

Most frustratingly the garden is a no-go zone, its a building site / doggie doo doo horror!

There's no doo lying around but it needs pressure washing really before he can go out and I can't do that till we've got rid of all the rubbish. A skip is booked for next tuesday as DH and I have got the week off and hoping to do a lot of work on it to make it useable. Hurrah!! Its been a LOOOOONNNNGGG project, I started it last April..

DS has been very clingy since my last post - just changed a nappy (smells like I need to change it again, so typing v v fast now - LOL) and found another blardy breakout of spots on his tummy which means another few days waiting for them to dry out. poor DS and poor insane me.

Poooooohhhhhheeee back in a bit. (Do you first timers know what you're letting yourself in for??? )

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 20/05/2008 09:14

I thought CP wasn't contagious once the spots had come out? Or am I getting mixed up with something else?

calsworld · 20/05/2008 09:20

NJ - taken some parrots? Are you OK? Relax as much as you can with DC's and if you're worried, call the EPU or GP? Let them know your previous history and someone will provide guidance I'm sure - worrying won't help at all though.

I think I have a high maintenance DS - he gets bored with CBeebies unless its night garden, teletubbies or at a push, tweenies.

He's hiding behind the curtain at the moment, poking the dogs eyes out .

I tried the pots and pans and wooden spoon thing yesterday and it didnt' go down that well - he just tries hitting things with the saucepans.

Bit cold for outdoor water play at the moment, and have no safe outdoor area. At least I don't feel bad for not having thought of the things you're suggesting.

Perhaps I'll go get the clothes airer and build a tent, that might work....

calsworld · 20/05/2008 09:21

CP is contagious until the spots scab over. They keep coming out over a period of time, although it has been a week now....happy for anyone to tell me this isn't CP!

Moosma · 20/05/2008 09:25

Just had a thought Nat, you know you said that even if you had an early scan you'd still worry afterwards? I think (perhaps Teuch can verify?) that once you've seen a heartbeat you have a 95% chance of a successful pregnancy. So if you had a scan and saw a heartbeat, would that convince you that all is well or would you worry that you'll be the other 5%?

Playingthewaitinggame · 20/05/2008 09:37

Morning all,

Sorry you're not feeling so good Nat.

Cal - I think the tent idea is a great one, the hours we spent under the table with a blanket on top, was one of our fav games.

at everyones list of allergies. I used to be asthmatic but kinda grew out of it/stopped exercising. Still get the odd tight chest but nothing much. Also get slight hayfever, but again nothing too bad. Am allergic to penicillin but thats about as good as it gets. Oh and I also get sunburnt very easily (dont think that counts as an allergy, but hey).

Cosmos, its nice to know I have been missed! Sorry you had a crap day yesterday, lets hope for a better one today. I totally understand what you mean about wanting to go for it, some days I think sod it and I must admit as the months go on I am getting a little bit more careless in "safe" times (and yes I know there is really no such thing but you all know what I mean)! Actually I am beg to get more nervous about the whole thing. Not having kids but leaving work. I don't think there is much chance of me going back (dont think they will let me work part time and I have no intention of working full time) and we are already starting to plan all the things I am supposed to be doing next year (e.g trade shows) and I keep thinking "I am hopefully not going to be here/be too pg to really do it!" My boss also keeps saying all the good things he wants me to be in charge of next year and how he see's my role growing. Its making me feel very guilty cos I know I am not likely to be here. I know I shouldn't feel guilty but it makes me feel like I will be letting everyone down.

Hi everyone else, sorry if I've missed something important. By the time I've written this I have completely forgotten what else I meant to say!

calsworld · 20/05/2008 10:03

Playing, only prob is he's a bit young and has no real imagination so needs entertaining more than he will when he's older....

milk and a biscuit entertained him for a while...now, onto tent building!

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 20/05/2008 10:07

Cal how about making some dough? (I have done it with lemon juice in before so if he decides to eat it, it tastes horrible and he doesn't try again! )

Parrots = paracetamol, sorry 'tis something DH says, didn't realise I'd slipped it in! Moos, I would worry I'd be the other 5% Although must admit, once I'd hit 6 weeks, up until today with these cramps, I had relaxed a fair bit (by my stanards!) I'm not too worried now, no bleeding or anything, but will admit to checking my knickers every 5 minutes half an hour....!

Playing, try not to feel guilty, take it all as a compliment to your working ability, I am sure your boss will be expecting a pregnancy announcement at some point.
