FET late Jan/Feb 2025?

Hi,

I'm not sure if this is in the right place, but I'm hoping it gets tagged to the infertility threads. Is anyone expecting a FET at the end of this month or in February and would like to be transfer buddies?

A bit about me: I'm 35(f), my partner is 31(m), we have moderate mfi and have been ttc for 2 years. We had an ivf with icsi round in November 2024, but our embryos were frozen due to a risk of ohss.

I am expecting my period in a few days, and I'll be preparing for a modified natural FET, likely to have a transfer date in early Feb :) this will be my first transfer, so I'm feeling both excited and nervous!

Hi. Im due my 6th FET when my cycle starts, which is due next week. However I had the EMMA/ALICE/ERA tests on Monday so not sure if it is going to mess my cycle up. Plus results might not be back in time. Im hoping it delays it by several days as I think I will be on holiday when the transfer date would fall if on time.

Ginny91 · 24/01/2025 17:35

Hi @Waitingformystork I'm in that boat so joining this thread!

About me: 33 (f) going it solo with a sperm donor, tried IUI in Sept but no luck; then had 1st round of IVF in November but also had to freeze from ohss risk..

This is the first opportunity for me to transfer (my cycle started on 6th Jan) and its been a bit bumpy already as I took a while to respond to oestrogren.. but booked in for FET now and getting used to all the variety of meds i'm taking!

Where are you at in your cycle? Do you have any dates yet?

Hope we can support each other a bit as its such a rollercoaster!

Waitingformystork · 24/01/2025 17:49

Hi @AnonS and @Ginny91 , sorry for being quiet on this thread. I'd joined another one and thought I had deleted this one, but obviously I haven't! I am quite far behind the others on the other thread though.

I don't have any dates yet, I'm doing a modified natural cycle, so I've only had to take letrozole so far, to bring my ovulation forwards. I had a scan yesterday on cd8, and there was no dominant follicle, and my lining was very thin, which is disappointing but expected as I tend to ovulate later than the average woman.
I reckon my transfer will be in the first week of February, by my own calculations.

@AnonS how were your test results, does the timing work out better for you for a transfer?

@Ginny91 that's exciting to have a date booked in. When is it?

OP posts:
AnonS · 25/01/2025 12:34

Still waiting for the results, so no transfer in Feb which works out well as I will be away. It's gone over the length of time she said they should be back, which is annoying.

thrifty24 · 25/01/2025 12:56

@Ginny91 that's exciting. I am going to try IUI first so won't detail the thread however I'm going to look at IVF can I ask if you are in the UK for treatment?

Waitingformystork · 25/01/2025 15:44

@AnonS that is annoying, I hope you get your results too. Although I guess a blessing in disguise if a February transfer wouldn't have worked for you.

Welcome @thrifty24 your protocol is probably similar to mine, although an IUI rather than an embryo transfer. FYI I am receiving treatment in the UK for IVF, partly because it felt easier and quicker. But having listened to a few episodes of the bfn podcast, where people got treatment abroad, I wish we had researched it. It could have potentially saved us lots of money, and the flying over there for treatment seems manageable with work.

Hi all,

Thanks for coming back to me!

@Waitingformystork I'm booked in for Tuesday (28th) which is a relief to have it booked for sure! I did medicated so that they could track it all a bit more but slightly regret it; my lining wasn't thickening up enough so I ended up on 4 progynovas a day and an oestrogren patch every 48hrs (just writing this out in case anyone else joins who's on medicated/ thinking about it). Fyi when I have mine it will be day 24 of my cycle, but guessing yours will be closer to your typical ovulation day? How're you feeling at the moment?

I've also started the Utogestan - let me know when / if any of you start on that, its a bit of a faff.

@thrifty24 yes I'm in the UK for treatment; sperm donor is from an international bank - I never thought about going abroad because I feel like I'm always to-ing and fro-ing from the clinic so I don't quite understand how people can manage their lives doing it away from home! Happy to chat about IUI if you want? I'm glad I tried it first, procedure itself is very chill, no pain at all. Do you have a date yet?

Waitingformystork · 27/01/2025 10:02

Good luck with your transfer tomorrow @Ginny91 ! How are you feeling about it?

My transfer will be planned in for 5 days after I ovulate, which is likely to be cd23-25. So I'll be about 10 days after you, I think. I have a scan later this morning, so I'm hoping I have a visible dominant follicle and my lining has thickened a bit! I was more keen doing a medicated cycle, as my cycle lengths vary, but the consultant preferred to attempt a natural cycle first. I think I'll start the utogestan when I ovulate, so 5 days before transfer, and then for the rest of the 2ww. I've heard great things about it 😂

Ginny91 · 27/01/2025 13:56

@Waitingformystork hope your scan was ok this morning!

Thank you yeah I'm feeling a bit all over the place today with nerves & hormones if i'm honest! But I have a counselling session this afternoon which will hopefully help ground me a bit more

Waitingformystork · 27/01/2025 14:08

@Ginny91 it's a nerve wracking time! Perfectly understandable if you're all over the place at the moment. I hope the counselling session provides you with some reassurance. My SIL is going through a FET at the moment as well, and she really recommends doing a breathing technique to help reduce stress, breathing in for 4, holding for 5 and breathing out for 6 (or something similar)

My scan was better than my first one. My follicles have grown a bit, but still not near ovulation. And my lining was 7mm, so it should get to the right thickness by the time I ovulate. I'm hoping it'll happen towards the end of this week and I'll be booked in for a transfer between next Wednesday-Friday. I'm worried I'll ovulate on Monday, and my transfer gets booked in for a week on Saturday, as we have friends staying with us that weekend! I don't like cancelling plans, and we've had it in the diary since November, so I'm just hoping the timings work out.

OP posts:
Ginny91 · 27/01/2025 14:42

@Waitingformystork that's so good about your lining! I had to have 4 scans in the end and it went down at one point which just threw me.. & thanks for the breathing advice, I was going to look for some yoga too as i'm going to have a bit more free time thankfully.

Arghh trying to make plans during IVF is just the worst, crossing my fingers your dates line up as you'd hope!

Do the friends know you're doing treatment? I've ended up reducing the people I tell at every stage which has been hard because I know they mean well but its just too exhausting keeping other people up to date, let alone rarely having the good news you want to share

Waitingformystork · 27/01/2025 18:37

That must have been a shock when your lining shrank! I'm glad it's at a good level now. I have had 2 scans so far, and I think I'll need at least another 2 before my transfer is booked in. So I'll join you with having 4 scans!

I find it hard to lie, so I have told people we are going through ivf. But only my sister knows we're currently doing a FET cycle, as I also don't want people checking in, asking well meaning questions, but before I'm ready to share the outcome of the cycle. And most people haven't gone through it, so you're having to educate them as well. The friends that will be visiting us know we're doing ivf, but I told them back in September. They don't know where we are with treatment or that we did a round in October last year. If it falls on the day they come down, I'll tell them something like we've got an emergency medical appointment, and they'll probably guess it's ivf related. But I don't want to tell them it's our transfer day. And hopefully our other friends can keep them entertained for a few hours. It's just another thing to add to the stress of the process!

OP posts:
Ginny91 · 27/01/2025 22:32

@Waitingformystork totally understand - their hearts are in the right place but it can be jarring for them to check in when you're in a bad patch. Also when I did IUI, I swear absolutely no one could count 14 days and it drove me mad 😂

Waitingformystork · 28/01/2025 09:27

@Ginny91 good luck for today!

@Waitingformystork thank you 💛don't really know how to feel!

Ginny91 · 28/01/2025 14:23

@Waitingformystork It went ok! A bit uncomfortable with the speculum but alright and they gave me a photo too which is nice. I'm relieved that it thawed ok and there wasn't any complications, now the wait begins! xx

Waitingformystork · 28/01/2025 14:26

I'm glad it went OK! Have you got anything nice planned for this afternoon?

OP posts:
Ginny91 · 28/01/2025 14:43

I had some cheesecake with my friend who came with me to the clinic which was lovely! Now home and going to put on pjs and catch up on Severance😂

Waitingformystork · 28/01/2025 18:48

That is a lovely afternoon, and sounds very relaxing! I hope you keep well during the 2ww, and good luck for your otd :)

@Ginny91 that's exciting and sounds like a nice rest of the day! So I don't have a set date. When I spoke with the clinic, they said it was a simple as getting the smiley face on the clear blue ovulation test (plus the various blood tests beforehand which can be done remotely and sent to clinic by provider). So it feels like it would be booking a flight and accommodation around ovulation time and letting the clinic know as soon as the smiley face arrives! My problem has been accurately capturing ovulation. For a while it was pretty regular, CD 14-15 owner the last few months it has been tricky getting the smiley face at all, even with LH peak confirmed. For example this month I am on CD 16 with no smiley face and low LH levels (0.24) when usually mine go from low to medium to high (0.9 or 1.0 plus) and when I hit the highest level I get the smiley face on CB usually that evening.. but of a long winded post but once I have a couple of months of more consistency I will go ahead and book the trip. Hope you are having a relaxing evening.

Hi all 👋
Can I join?!
I had FET yesterday (after 2 failed fresh rounds last year 😢)
How's everyone doing?
X

Ginny91 · 06/02/2025 12:38

Welcome @spamOFtheDAY and glad your FET went ok yesterday!

And welcome to the tww, sorry to hear you've had failed before so hope this transfer could be your time 💛... I'm doing ok physically, some boob soreness and very occasional cramping, but pretty mentally exhausted. I'm currently 9dp5dt and haven't tested yet, probably will cave soon :/

Also @Waitingformystork I saw you on another thread so glad you're having your FET today! xx

Waitingformystork · 06/02/2025 13:26

Hi @spamOFtheDAY I hope your transfer this time is the one! I have my transfer in a couple of hours, and currently, I'm just feeling excitement. But I don't know how long that'll last for.

@Ginny91 well done on holding out. It must be really hard. When do you think you'll test? I am planning to test at 10dp5dt, as that is a Sunday, so should give me some time to grieve in private if it's negative, rather than wait for my OTD which should be the Monday after that at 11dp5dt, and then going straight into work. But we'll see if I stick to that plan!

Well done for not testing! How have you done that?!
I have no will power and say I won't test but have found myself testing from 5dpt both times and felt crap afterwards 😢
It's nicer being in the PUPO bubble!

Ginny91 · 06/02/2025 15:45

@spamOFtheDAY god I don't know, I'm going pretty bonkers 😂
