@Sunch i was a SMEP to conceive #1. Didn’t do that this month as we only had sex the day before and day of ovulation, or the day of and day after depending on the apps!

we hoped to start after a family holiday in sept to make the most of the all inclusive but family illness posponed TTC. Now this month I’m not sure we even hit the right dates! Haven’t tracked ovulation as I got obsessed last time with testing everything.

AF due yesterday or today according to apple health and premom. I’m expecting blood every wipe.

realistically my boobs are less sore (but I’m breastfeeding so not sure what my normal is!) and I feel knackered (but have a non sleeping child) and exercise is hard (isn’t it always) so expecting CD1 imminently. Going on holiday at the weekend so probably need to test then if no change. Trying not to piss on £££££ worth every month this time!

WestiesAreMyBesties · 19/11/2024 12:25

Hey! Our first IUI cycle didn't work so we're trying again.
I'm 40 and overweight so I know my chances aren't the best... but I've done all the tests and my fertility is 100%. The only reason why we're doing IUI is because we're in a same-sex relationship.
My next cycle is supposed to start on 27th November so I know I'll be testing for the better part of December.
Fingers crossed it works for us this time!

Good luck, I found distracting myself with decorating worked well last month. This month it will be Christmas decorating and wrapping plus holiday to organise as we go away on 12th December.

Heya @NamechangeTTC oh that’s great to hear you did SMEP for #1 (congrats), how did you find it?

yah, I totally understand where you are coming from re getting obsessed. My bedside drawer is full of all sorts of - just trying to not take it too seriously, but that’s easier said than done lol.

we’ll take it easy, enjoy your holiday, if you get BFP then that will be fantastic, if it’s cheeky AF, you can focus on that and get back to TTC after :)

SPEM is a job on its own CD10 today ovulation testing begins.

Thomsonetthompson · 19/11/2024 16:44

Good luck to everyone!

We're starting this month for 2nd baby. First took 5m but didn't feel any time pressure. This time we know we're moving internationally in about 18 months and don't want to do that with a tiny baby so feeling the pressure to conceive asap.

Not sure whether to just use ovulation tests which I did last time or throw myself in with SMEP (tricky with an 18 month old!).

Marie1990x · 19/11/2024 16:52

@Thomsonetthompson oh goshhhh big move, that’s exciting! Try not to put too much pressure on yourself (easier said than done of course).

We’re going to give the SMEP a shot this cycle. Only tried it once before, but it happened to be when I had a super long cycle so gave up before I even had a positive OPK 😅. The last 3 months I’ve had a 29 day cycle, so hoping for the same this time 🤞🏻- or rather no af at all and a BFP 😂😂

NamechangeTTC · 19/11/2024 17:01

Tbh @Sunch i found it a lot of DTD! It almost feels regimented but it worked!

NamechangeTTC · 19/11/2024 17:02

@Marie1990x it feels never ending waiting for the peak doesn’t it! I was tempted by the “every two days” with no testing but even that feels a lot with a toddler around!

Marie1990x · 19/11/2024 17:19

@NamechangeTTC yeah completely understand that! Must be hard with an 18m. My daughter is 3 and loves her sleep, so hopefully we’ll get a decent shot in.
Agree with the regimented feeling too. Even just dtd around ovulation, the pressure of it having to be around that day a passion killer sometimes!

Sunch · 19/11/2024 17:39

Definitely regimented @NamechangeTTC and definite passion killer @Marie1990x of having to do it around ovulation otherwise you may miss your shot and no one wants that 😬

NamechangeTTC · 19/11/2024 17:55

@Marie1990x also got a 3 year old here!

MyGardenDaisies · 19/11/2024 20:04

This shows how unprepared I am - all our tests are 2+ years out of date 🙈

Wednesday is CD10 for me. We are trying SMEP as this worked for child1. It is tiring and regimented but if it gets results, it's worth it.

Start ovulation testing today. Usually do first thing but read something recently it's best not to do it then?!

CD10 for me too so will start ovulation testing today.
I believe it’s best to test in the afternoon, between 2-8pm as the LH hormone rises throughout the day, so you may miss your peak if you do it first thing in the morning.

MyGardenDaisies · 20/11/2024 08:36

I’ve moved on from empty circles to flashing smileys. CD10.

I’m doing SMEP too, is it cd8 you start? Fingers crossed it works for us all who are trying it!
Yeah apparently OPK’s are to be done after like 11am or something I read. I always do them early afternoon and then if it’s quite dark I’ll do another early evening as it seems to progress quickly for me

Marie1990x · 20/11/2024 08:44

What vitamins is everyone taking?

I was previously taking pregnacare conception, but my consultant said just a high strength vitamin D and folic acid is more than enough 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’m taking folic acid, vitamin D and calcium as my wee one is CMPA so I have zero dietary calcium!

I’m not sure, I never give mine chance to expire and I’m a POAS addict 😂.

No harm in trying though. Maybe just get a bunch of cheapies to take and then when you see a line see if the expired ones show similar?

I’ve refrained from buying any yet, they’re in my Amazon basket but waiting until I’m well into the tww to try and stop me wasting so many

NamechangeTTC · 20/11/2024 10:25

I can’t believe how expensive they are @Marie1990x I’ve got about £40 worth in my basket!

I’m taking vitamin D, pregnacare conception, iron through black molasses (I’m borderline deficient) and a mini aspirin. Hubby is taking pregnacare for men. I was on a host of other vitamins but I’ve cut it right down because one it’s expensive and two just causing anxiety. Hopefully what we are on is sufficient. On CD11 now. Started ovulation testing yesterday and we are on empty smilies for now. Also done some dancing yesterday (2nd sesh on SMEP) 🤭.

How are my fellow SMEPers doing?
