Has anyone done one of the at home progesterone tests before? What findings did you get from it? And was it useful?!
My luteal phase seems to be getting shorter and shorter for some reason - I don't know much about cycles etc but could this be to do with progesterone levels?
I have an at home blood test to do this cycle so will report back!

Yes I’ve done a couple, and got one waiting to do this cycle. Mine confirmed to me that my progesterone is low (under 30 pm/mol or whatever the measurement is). 30 confirms ovulation and below that suggests low progesterone (not necessarily haven’t ovulated but progesterone low). I then looked into lifestyle and supplement changes that can improve progesterone - going to see if it’s helped this cycle. If not I’ll go to the GP I think. You can be prescribed progesterone if it’s low and might be the cause of not getting pregnant

Sorry this is going to be a long feelings dump - just need to get it out. No need to reply 😅
Had a big temp dip this morning, loads of spots on my chin. AF is on her merry way!
On the one hand I feel absolutely fine. It's been 11 months of trying and I am used to this.
But on the other hand I felt like I had a lot of hope this cycle. My husband had his SA come back normal (it wasn't amazing results, but he had an undescended testicle as a child and we were expecting the worst), I used a fertilily cup and then I just had very odd symptoms at 8 & 9dpo. Also we're going on a big trip at the end of Jan and I would have been just in second trimester, which I have heard is when people feel their best in pregnancy. Now if I get pregnant over the next couple of cycles (big IF) I will be in first trimester, and will that ruin the trip? Should I even try for the next couple of cycles? I will be 36 in Jan so don't feel like putting things off.
When we first started trying we knew we were going on this trip as it's for his best mate's wedding in Australia and I was anxious at the prospect of having a two month old on the trip with us. How foolish I feel now 😥

I did the pee one and I found it very unhelpful. I think if I were going to do it again I would do a day 21 blood test (which is actually 7 days after your ovulation). You can pay for one through randox or similar, or you can request one through GP if you are concerned.

@CoolSummer89 definitely keep trying. You could be one of those people who wouldn’t know they were pregnant if they didn’t test, and not have a single sick day in your trimester, or you could be someone who is sick the whole way through (hopefully not!)

There’s so much uncertainty around TTC and pregnancy, unless you feel you need a break for your MH then I’d keep going. If you did need assistance at a later stage it would be good to say you tried for x amount of time, but hopefully you won’t need that.

It’s also totally ok to feel crap and disappointed even if you think you should be used to it, and the PMS hormones won’t be helping your mood.

It’s great news that your husband’s results were so positive! Maybe you’ll get better luck at Christmas x

Just joining this! Fingers crossed for everyone. I'm 11dpo following a traumatic miscarriage earlier in the year. Really excited for the possibility of being pregnant again but also terrified of history repeating itself!!

I really feel you with this, I’m 10dpo my first cycle trying after a MC. I want nothing more than to be pregnant again, but also know if I do it will come with so much anxiety. It wont be the same as my last experience of my first trimester, where I was so happy and excited.
Sending you good luck.

rebecca199 · 12/11/2024 13:28

@1woodpecker @CoolSummer89
Thank you both ❤️

I will defo do this blood one I have and see what happens!
Last time I was pregnant and miscarried, they checked my progesterone at the EPU and it was only a 2 at about 15dpo and I then miscarried 2 weeks later so I'm very nervous about my levels! But only thing I can do is check them, and then ask for help if they are low and hopefully they do help x

@Ndmor I'm so sorry to hear this! Wishing you lots of baby dust!

Is anyone else having stretchy snot like CM ? (Again sorry for TMI)
I am normally completely dry at this stage in my cycle so this seems very odd for me 🤷🏻‍♀️

@Ndmor congratulations!!!
Hopefully it's a positive sign for me too then!
Thinkng maybe I should test in the morning with FMU ??
I'll only be 10dpo could this still be too early?

To be honest I've not found much difference between fmu and later as long as I'm not super super hydrated. For my previous pregnancies (one little girl and on mc), I tested positive between 10 and 12dpo but some people don't get one until after missed period.
Personally I like to test early to let myself down gently.

Inked1518 · 12/11/2024 15:59

@Ndmor really?? I was always told FMU was the best opportunity, but that's so good to know! I'll maybe try later!
Swear I'm either delusional or I have every symptom in the book, cramping the past few days, mild headaches, back ache, tender boobs, blue veins, really bad heartburn, nausea, snot like CM, bloating etc etc
Praying I'm not out and it's just my mind playing tricks.

I'm so exited for you and your BFP!!! How are you feeling about it? Know you mentioned being nervous about it because of the MC, so sorry you went through that 😔

Yes I think it is supposed to be best but personally not seen a huge difference. Probably different for everyone!

I'm feeling a bit odd about it. I've only just been signed off to try again as I had a suspected molar pregnancy (it wasn't in the end...) and the whole thing dragged on for over 4 months so it's a bit weird if I'm honest.

I'm excited of course but also nervous. They've previously said I can have an extra scan at 7/8 weeks so hopefully that will be reassuring.

Fingers crossed for you! Sounds like all your symptoms are there.

Could I ask what progesterone test you used? I’m really interested in this!

MoonDaydream · 12/11/2024 17:01

Congratulations @Ndmor, so pleased for your positive test!
Thats good to hear you can have an early scan at 7/8 weeks. I really hope I’ll be offered something similar (found out about my MC at 12 week scan, it would be hell waiting 12 weeks for a scan again)

MoonDaydream · 12/11/2024 17:05

I thought my period was starting this morning as I had a drop of blood when I wiped. But now I don’t think it is AF, as that was at 7am and now at 5pm I’ve not had any more bleeding (I’ve been checking all day!)
could this have been implantation bleeding? Or am I just wishful thinking?
Im 10dpo and AF is supposed to be due on Thurs

HollyGolightly4 · 12/11/2024 17:09

Hugs @MoonDaydream no answers, but solidarity

I always find SMU gives me better tests! Both with pregnancy and LH xx

I'm meant to be 10dpo tomorrow so I'll maybe try test in the morning and see if I have any luck 🤞

Yes absolutely! It was from Superdrug: https://onlinedoctor.superdrug.com/progesterone-test-kit.html

Ah I saw this one before but completely forgot about it! Thank you ☺️ x

This is the one I have too! X

rebecca199 · 13/11/2024 08:15

I'm not convinced I've ovulated this cycle... my bbt has been all over the place and I usually have a noticeable rise by now 😣
I can usually feel ovulation too and get cramping and had nothing this time!
Fingers crossed I did and my bbt is just throwing me off!

I'd still keep trying as you never know how your first trimester will go! Mine with DD was tiring but probably made worse with work whereas I'm sure a holiday would be lush!

I'm quite sure I'm out this month AF due today and BFN on the test today. Going to wait until AF arrives and book a holiday for a friend's wedding next year that I was going to miss if I was pregnant so looking for the positives! Also going to have a few christmas drinks with my friend at the weekend.

Congratulations to all you lovely girls with your positives 🩷 sending baby dust to you all xxxx
