How long did it take you?

I'm 32 and currently TTC #1. I naively thought we'd fall pregnant right away... we are both heathy and have no fertility problems (that we know about). I'm using OPKs so it's not timing.

Anyway how long did it take you TTC before you got a BFP? Just looking for reassurance

Hi SarahFlower, you havent said how long you have been trying but some people are lucky and fall first try, others take a year or more, it's pretty random so not that easy to tell I'm afraid.

Happydays54321 · 01/10/2024 20:44

1 year for us when we were 32, soon to turn 33.

Pinkelephant66 · 01/10/2024 20:46

1 year at 29

Taviton · 01/10/2024 20:50

We got pregnant straight away but had a MMC. No luck since. It's been almost a year now.

Cheepcheepcheep · 01/10/2024 20:51

A year at 30. Pregnant accidentally at 31. I honestly think there’s no rhyme or reason.

DSis needed ivf, DM conceived first time with both of us.

Olika · 01/10/2024 20:52

2.5 years after my mc (but I was around my 40s).

AllAboutNiamh · 01/10/2024 20:53

A year the first time, and the second time it happened the first month we tried.

livelovelough24 · 01/10/2024 20:54

My first child at 27, got pregnant right away, but found out for the first time, that this is absolutely not a norm. Most of my friends were trying for months before conceiving. Good luck OP.

ClementineSatsuma · 01/10/2024 20:54

4 month at 29, 4 months at 32 (sadly a miscarriage), then a year and a half at 33.

Peonies12 · 01/10/2024 21:02

About 5 months, with no tracking, then has a miscarriage at 11 weeks. Waited a couple of months to try again, then got BFP after 4 months, with tracking. A year is very normal, even for healthy younger couples, there’s only something like a 25% chance each cycle. Keep busy! I was 31 when we started trying,

First month both times. Not adding to be a dick just for breadth.

YaWeeFurryBastard · 01/10/2024 21:09

5 months but it felt like a lifetime so I can really sympathise. I feel a bit silly looking back now but I remember how hard it was.

Wowwellokthen · 01/10/2024 21:11

TTC from 28yrs old - no issues
DC1 - took 14 perfectly timed cycles
DC2 - One single "event" 3 months after DC1 was born! 🤷🏻‍♀️

HippeePrincess · 01/10/2024 21:14

WildViper · 01/10/2024 21:22

2 weeks after first came off it after 18 years on bc- ended in miscarriage at 12w
Then 10 months after which ended in stillbirth of our beautiful daughter , horrific but still grateful for the experience, apparenty just " one of these things" both times as theyve tested etc all good results , but did say being over 30 may be a contributiing factor , loads of baby dust your way 🌸

Lunamoon23 · 01/10/2024 21:22

31 at the time of conceiving, partner was 32. First baby, no fertility problems, regular periods, tracking ovulation and was regular with that every single month. Still took us 10 months. Xxx

Soprano1985 · 01/10/2024 22:59

Aged 29 I fell pregnant first cycle of trying. Now I am 38 it’s taken 9 months but only got a BFP today after doing private fertility tests and finding out I had very high prolactin caused by a small benign pituitary growth. 8 weeks on medication to correct the irregular hormones
