Has anyone had a negative experience with maca root?

KateS1993 · 16/10/2024 13:01

@owlcat24 so I had this result on the earlier dates. None of my OPK lines have been darker than the control line

owlcat24 · 16/10/2024 13:05

@KateS1993 yeah so this is negative. You should have kept testing every day until the line got as dark as control. It's not a big deal, it probably just means that you're not as far along as you thought. Going by what @LucyLou0527 said, you could assume that you ovulate 10 days after your last tablet and go from there.

Pricklypickles · 16/10/2024 13:07

Hi everyone, good luck to those testing.

I'm 10dpo today. I started the day off yesterday feeling strong willed and sure I was going to wait until my period was due because I didn't feel like this month would be our lucky month and I was sick of looking at negative tests every month.

However, as the day progressed I started feeling kind of weird and noticed my boobs looking suspicious (bigger and veinier) and even my husband picked up on it. I also found myself having a huge mid-afternoon slump. Coincidentally (honest!) I found an ultra early pregnancy test I bought ages ago and had forgotten about in the cupboard so decided to take it to rule this month out. A really faint line appeared!

I'm sceptical because I've heard all about evap lines so I've taken a couple of other tests since then (Easy at Home) and have also seen a few very faint lines.

I remain skeptical, but based on my super weird looking and enormous boobs if nothing else I think we might have finally had some luck. Will wait a bit and do some more testing.

KateS1993 · 16/10/2024 13:25

@owlcat24 yeah so I did continue to test for a few days after and the second line just got lighter and lighter. The photo I showed was the darkest it showed up as

Maybe I'm not ovulating! I had really bad cramps two before I took that test. I also read that PCOS disturbs the results of opk's. Also my fertile window was 8th-13th. That test I showed was taken on 10th

did you only do one test on that day? Maybe later you did get a peak but just missed it? X

This looks like the tests i started to take and honestly mine never got darker either however on the day before i was due to ovulation (according to flo) i took these test the one above looks like same brand as you too and the others r a different brand! I don't think the brand is reliable

KateS1993 · 16/10/2024 13:42

@owlcat24 so I did I took two that day both looked the same. It was cycle day 15 10th Oct

As someone with pcos, 'fertile windows' especially if its from an app, aren't a thing. The only way I know when I 'usually ovulate' is because I've tracked with BBT and have actually seen when my temperature rose, and gotten a period around 14 days later. So bc of that, I realised on the months I do ovulate, it can fall around day 20-22. Most PCOS girls don't ovulate day 14 as periods and ovulation tend to be irregular. The reason for that is we have tons of little cyst in our ovaries that stay 'frozen' in the same state, and rarely one of them has the space or enough hormone to become dominant and grow bigger. So it can take longer.

Because of that, it's important to disregard what any apps say. The only way to find out when and if you ovulated, is to continue taking OPK every day, and ONLY count it as positive when the test line is as strong or stronger than the control line. The fact that you do see some light tests is good because that means you will be able to detect the surge (some PCOS girls always test strong bc LH tends to be higher generally with us).

Other signs will be egg white cervical mucus. And if you haven't looked into it and still trying to get to know your cycle I would highly recommend BBT tracking. You take your temperature every morning before getting up, and put it into your app, and it should show you a pattern which can confirm whether you ovulated or not.

Good luck :)

Plumchumm · 16/10/2024 13:49

@KateS1993 Also, forgot to say. I have also taken a clomid similar thing before, and I still ovulated late on day 22. So even under fertility treatment, you can't predict ovulation - you just have to keep tracking. :) good luck

11dpo and a negative test again so on to cycle 4. I am nearly 5 months since my loss 😭

AF arrived this morning so turns out what I thought was the start of my peak was actually my levels dropping. I knew I ovulated early but it was actually even earlier than I thought so I missed the window 🤦🏽‍♀️ I had a loss in March but had a break from TTC afterwards. Only just started trying again in Sept. Wine & chocolate it is & onto the next cycle for me too! We'll get there though 🤞🏽 just gotta stay strong, easier said than done obvs 🤦🏽‍♀️ I wish everyone else the best of luck for those still in the TWW 🍀

KateS1993 · 16/10/2024 14:05

@owlcat24 @Plumchumm thanks!! God it is so confusing.
I've been basing it all off my app, my last two cycles have been around the 32days. I know that doesn't mean much but my cycle has been 70+ days before.
I tend to have a cycle every month which is good. I also base a lot off symptoms, sore boobs, discharge, cramps.

KateS1993 · 16/10/2024 14:11

@Plumchumm These are my app notes from yesterday cycle day 20

Lucky october?🤞🏼
Plumchumm · 16/10/2024 14:46

@KateS1993 that’s good hun but I wouldn’t say milky is ovulation cm. It has to be egg white usually. And also you could have all those symptoms and still have a negative opk, which is what you’d go by. Because the symptoms may just be bc your body is ‘trying’ but not necessarily actually ovulating. Sometimes your body can ‘try’ several times before it gets it right. So keep testing :)

Emiily887 · 16/10/2024 15:57

Hi ladies! Some more exciting looking tests on here!!
@owlcat24 how are you doing? So excited for you lovely!!!
@Justbloodylovecrisps how are yours looking now?
Only 3dpo today, I already know for a fact I’ll be testing bang on 8dpo🤣🤣🤣 the urge is already imminent

OP posts:
Justbloodylovecrisps · 16/10/2024 16:04

@owlcat24 I've got some of those ones & in did one about 2 hours ago. I didn't think I could see anything tbh but looks like there's an indent now. Why does this keep happening to me 🤣

@Emiily887 I love that you're holding out until 8dpo! I was straight in there at 7 with my torch 🤣🤣

Lucky october?🤞🏼
owlcat24 · 16/10/2024 17:24

@Justbloodylovecrisps hmm not sure I see anything on that photo! But it can't be that every single test you do has an indent or an evap??

@Emiily887 thank you! Although I'm not letting myself get excited yet, not until I see some good line progression. Haven't told DH yet either, he refused to believe it last time until it was a dye stealer 😂

Justbloodylovecrisps · 16/10/2024 17:50

@owlcat24 defo my lime eyes then 🤣 I just feel like the clear blue 6 day would be positive if I had vfl on the others. I've got a FRER arriving soon so going to hold my pee as long as possible for that & then I'll know for sure! Have you done anymore testing?

owlcat24 · 16/10/2024 17:59

@Justbloodylovecrisps ok where did you get a frer from? They're like gold dust these days! Haven't seen them in shops. Fingers crossed for later, let us know the result!!

I haven't tested since this morning, they say hcg should double every 48h so I don't think there much point in testing more than once a day, doubt that I'll be able to tell the difference! So will test tomorrow morning and hopefully see a better line

Justbloodylovecrisps · 16/10/2024 19:07

@owlcat24 i got it off Amazon! Same day delivery too 🤣 my husband thinks im out of control, but it's like my little hobby for a few days of the month haha.

Yes, fully invested in your line progression so please keep us updated on that!

owlcat24 · 17/10/2024 06:45

So I'm definitely getting some line progression, for now anyway 🤞

@Justbloodylovecrisps did you test last night?

Lucky october?🤞🏼
Emiily887 · 17/10/2024 07:40

@owlcat24 definitely progression!! How exciting🥹🥹
@Justbloodylovecrisps how are you getting on lovely?

Mummysparrow · 17/10/2024 07:49

I am definitely out this month. I get an LH increase at 12dpo when period is on its way and I had that this morning.
