Thought it was time for a new thread - we're almost out of room on the original one

Just wanted to poke my head round the door and say hi to all the names I recognise (it's flosspot!) So very that you are here when you deserve so much love and luck and babies.....I think of you all often and regularly check but feeling particularly emotional for you at the moment so hope a personal appearance will bring someone some luck!

Sorry to hijack. Will slope off again now x

Ah - knitting! Can I ask some knitting advice? I'd quite like to have a go at some booties or a baby blanket but I've only ever done a scarf before and that took me 9 months, so I'm not sure if that's completely unrealistic. Any recommendations for something easy but pretty that I can make in less than 6 months, or should I just give up now? I did join Ravelry a while ago but I haven't actually done anything on there yet.

The other day my DH found loads of cards and a scrapbook I made for him before we got married and I remembered I used to do loads of creative stuff before I had a job .

Thanks Gilly- she's called Cecily and is quite a character.

I'm not a knitter but I do have Granny and Nomore to keep me supplied with stunning handknits. I do sew/quilt though when I get the chance....

Hey Gilly (and anyone else that 'knows' me). Saw your name pop up on active convos so thought I'd catch up - had a bit of a nose and pleased your IVF is kicking off soon (well, not pleased for you that you have to go through it but pleased you haven't had to wait too long). Many hugs and I'll be thinking of you and hoping so much this is it for you !

AppleAndBlackberry · 02/02/2009 14:06

Thanks Gilly! I found you and Nomore as well. I'm AppleAndBlackbery (missing one r as AppleAndBlackberry was apparently too long!)

I've only done square knitting before, a scarf, so no increasing and decreasing. I think I'd like to have a go at some baby Ugg booties and a hat like the one on yours in matching wool (might do the hat first if it's easier). What do you think? I think a blanket would be technically easier but might take me several years!

Hi Gilly - DH much better thanks, trying to get back to work slowly but still taking time. Baby is due 5.5 weeks which seems quite unreal - dd v.excited which is great.

Take care (and everyone else on here !). Hope to see you all over the other side really really soon.

RahRah1 · 03/02/2009 10:48

hi all
Wow lots of talk about knitting. Not sure if I have the patience. I have however been organising my nana and her mates to knit items I needed for the last two years for the neo natal department where bertie was born. We have been buying specialist outfits for the really tiny babies and then nana makes the blankets, cardis etc... We package some in gift boxes with little toys etc
When we had bertie all they gave us was an overgrown crumpled babygrow, which showed how small he was and was even more upsetting.Last year we spent about £400 on about 45 outfits. Was very pround!
Anyway sorry for big waffle!

Gilly so happy for you that ivf is starting asap!!! Wooohoo
Our ttc is similar started trying in 2004, caught in 2006, lost bertie nov 2006, ttc through 2007 and 2008. Did 3 goes of iui, mc 2008, started ivf and then caught.... Ivf is defo the big guns. I just knew it was going to work and whatever the sniffs did to me it made me catch two cycles in a row. My friend just caught on her second cycle and it's twins. I know it will work for you 2!! Remember to drink loads when taking those drugs.

I'm writing this message from my i phone and I can't see much of what I have written, plus for some reason it changes what I have written and it comes out all wrong LOL

Nomore, hope your ok. Any news on lap and dye?

Hello everyone else.

I have my 20 week scan on fri, had a scan at 18 weeks and all looked good, but still nervous, but that's me for you. Plus been suffering from spd so feel like I've done 10 rounds with mike Tyson in my Pubic area...
I have to be offically the worst pregnant person ever. I'm so crap!!! Basically I think they should bubble wrap me for the next 4 months, plonk me in my bed, stick a feeding tube in and occassionally send in the men in the White coats

Anyway better stop waffling.. Lots of love to everyone x x x x

pureeandpearls · 03/02/2009 21:35

Rah rah- send sympathies- I was diagnosed with SPD at 20 weeks and was walking with a zimmer by my 38-week induction. Your plan is a brilliant one-spend as much time off your feet as possible!!!

RahRah1 · 04/02/2009 14:24

OMG a Zimmer.... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Poor you. Im going to see my consultant on Fri and he has been putting off a referral, but I will sit on him until its done!

Sorry for being nosy, was your induction anything to do with your SPD?

HELLO to everyone else!!!!!

herbaceous · 04/02/2009 14:37

Hello all

Hope you don't mind me just popping in to say that I had my 20-week scan today, and everything is utterly fine. No sign of downs (despite moderately high risk nuchal fold at 12 weeks), nice big brain, full complement of fingers and toes, and a winkie!

Hope this is a hope-giving, rather than annoying, story...

RahRah1 · 04/02/2009 15:05

Excellent news herbaceous...Such a relief to hear all is well. That's it now, just growing over the next 20 weeks and painless delivery!

duchesse · 04/02/2009 15:29

Rahrah, I am so happy that you are pregnant again and that it's going so well. A bit crap about the SPD but it does give you an excuse to put your feet up!

Also very very happy for Herbaceous and Ready.

pureeandpearls · 04/02/2009 21:33

Great news Herbie

Rahrah- do sit on him. I had to sob and wail and all sorts! Was induced early because of SPD at 38 weeks: basically was so debilitating, I was bed/zimmer bound in a house with lots of stairs and no friends/family nearby, so they felt it the best course of action. By no means an easy option but would do it again in a heartbeat

RahRah1 · 05/02/2009 10:31

Hi all

duchesse - thanks so much ((HUGS)) So pleased to hear you are pregnant again 2. Hows it all going? How far are you?

pureeandpearls - Wow that sounds awful. Thank god they offered you an induction. My consultant suggested at the beginning of my pregnancy a C section at 37 weeks, but depending how my pregnancy goes. (previous issues) If all goes well I will be down for a normal natural birth, but I am now beginning to be inclined to go for the c section. I will start working on him shortly! Well he one that one that planted the seed!

Hope everyone else is well and tucked up at home all snug away from the snow!

RahRah1 · 08/02/2009 10:48

Hi all

Me again! Where are you all? Is everyone OK?

Well I had my 20 week scan. All looks good and baby looks healthy. A few things freaked me out but consultant said I will be getting growth scans and we can monitor them

  1. the femur lenght and BPD in measurements were 7-8 days smaller than the rest of the measurements.

  2. The scanner found blood pools in my placenta, but the consultant said they are likely to be cysts.

I think this month is going to be a very nervous month!

Anyway guess what sex it is ???????

Love Rah xxxx

RahRah1 · 08/02/2009 10:53

Its a GIRL

DH has no girls in is family, except his half sisters but they are from his step dad. So we just thought we would always have boys... So last time we just knew we were having a boy, but so shocked we are broken the family genetics.
We were told at the 13 week scan that she thought it was a girl and then at the 18 weeks she said the same and now at the 20 week scan... so I would say we are 100% having a girl!

kd73 · 08/02/2009 20:30

Rah, excellant news on your daughter!!!! Sorry to hear about the SPD, hope you are coping ok [smile}

Gilly, fingers crossed for you.

hope everyone else is well.

Aidan is doing really well and keep me more than busy!!!!

Wow Rah - how lovely! And herbaceous - very exciting to hear your news too . I think mine's a boy, but I won't know for 5 weeks and I'm happy either way really. Are you both thinking about names now or did you have some in mind already?

Everything crossed for your IVF Gilly.
