Hi everyone

Nomore - I'm so very sorry...Really hope it happens naturally for you. Good luck at the hospital tomorrow, will be thinking of you. Sending so much love & hugs Xxx

I had my appointment on Friday with the consultant.Briefly (if I do briefly) He spent ages with us and has designed a plan for the pregnancy.

  1. He is going to monitor the cervix from 12 weeks to ensure my prem pregnancy did not weaken my cervix. 2)Monitor and bring me off some of the drugs I'm on, steroids in the next couple of weeks (I had an episode of my sugars going mad and they think its the steroids) , progesterone at 14 weeks, Heperin un decided?? 3)Test me for Strep B, as been tested twice before and was positive both times & use IV Anti-B's at birth 4)Scan more frequently 5)Have me in hospital if beneficial..ummm ( I did one whole month with Bertie and it was like being in prision cell block H) 6)See me on a regular basis
  2. Glucose intolerance testing due to steroids and PCO
  3. Contacting the hematologist at other hospital as still concerned about the use of heparin whilst my platelets, packed cells and IGa is low.. he is concerned that if I bleed the heparin would not help and make me bleed more. But I feel it was the blood clots the bleeds created that were the problem and the heparin will help stop clots. 9)He talked through the chances of having another prem labour, which un-nerved me and said if they decided to bring the baby early or if it came early the hospital only can take babies over 32 weeks, so we would be farmed out.

He did not have a clue where the bleeding was coming from, as I was scanned and no sign of bleeding in the womb etc... which is good. But the scans don't really show much.I still keep having these pink spotting and its really doing my head in. I'm also getting some cramping, so I am just a nervous wreck. I need to switch my mind off... how can you tell yourself you don't care when you do so much??

To be honest we found the whole experience of seeing the consultant pretty tiring and it brought us a bit down to earth with all the obstacles we face in pregnancy. I think its back to one day at a time! I have another appointment with him in 4 weeks time.

Sorry to waffle and sorry Gilly for the period of AWOL... (BAD RAH)...I won't do it again! Promise Xxx

Hope everyone is OK.... Thinking of everyone

Hi I just wanted to pop in and say how sorry I am for you Nomore, I've been keeping an eye on this thread and I can't believe what bad luck you've had, Keep positive, great things can happen.

I also wanted to let RahRah know I'm thinking of you and keeping all my finger and toes crossed for you.

I've recently name changed but i did 'talk' to both of you quite abit in the past. Just wanted to wish both of you the best of luck. I was '1Wish' previously by the way.

kd73 · 16/11/2008 22:35

Gilly, hope tomorrow goes ok for you and I'll be thinking of you.

Rah, excellent news about the plans. IME take each day as it comes and try to be grateful for each day that passes uneventfully.

I start my ML tomorrow, can't wait as I look like and feel like a hippo!!!!

jess1996 · 17/11/2008 09:34

Nomore - sorry to hear your news. I had an ectopic pregnancy back in August 2007. Unfortunately my HCG levels kept rising and I ended up with surgery. I hope this doesn't happen to you, but I remember all to well the horrible feeling of wanting the HCG levels to fall and wanting a BFN. The 6 months after the op were very hard for me as I lost hope of things working out. However 6 months later I did become pregnant with a normal pregnancy.

Rah - keeping all my fingers and toes crossed for you. Did you see baby and heartbeat on your scan?

Hello to everyone else.

My news is that I finally had my beautiful ds. He is now 3 weeks old. He was 5 days late and had to be delivered by emergency cs and then resuscitated at birth so it was pretty terrifying. However we have both made a full recovery and I am so grateful to have him. So after 18 months ttc, one missed mc, an ectopic pregnancy and a very anxious 9 months, I now have my baby.

AppleAndBlackberry · 17/11/2008 10:28

So sorry nomore. That's really sad . xxx

Rah - I'm glad your little bean is still hanging on in there. Will keep you in my prayers, especially that the bleeding stops and you can relax a bit. x

Kd - hope you're enjoying your maternity leave!

Congratulations to jess - really glad ds arrived safely!

How are you doing Gilly? I did enjoy my Christmas shopping, although still have loads to do because DH and I both have big families. I'll try and do most of the rest on the internet I think.

girlwithacurl · 17/11/2008 10:39

Hi Nomore,
The same thing happened to me, I had what I thought was a normal AF, only to start bleeding again 2 weeks later, went to the EPU (who were equally fantastic) and a very stressful 2 days of tests to rule out EP. Like you I didn't even realise I was PG until i was MC, but it shocked me how upsett I was (also DP who to start with couldn't work out why I was taking it so bad). It was my GP who told me to take time to grieve and made me feel like I wasn't being silly being sad over loosing something I never really had that enabled me to go to DP and tell him that actually I am very sad and he needs to understand why. The people on here as well really help by making me (and everyone) feel like we can say what we feel and won't judge us or make us feel stupid. So thank you guys, and Nomore, I hope it all works out for you!

nomoremagnolia · 17/11/2008 11:52

Rah So it's good news It sounds like they've thought it all through and you're getting top notch care. I hope taking one day at a time helps you through the pg, I can't imagine how hard it's going to be, but we're all here for you
Jess congratulations on your DS, enjoy him
kd enjoy your ML, I can't believe you're there already, it doesn't seem you've been pg long enough! (Though I'm sure it does to you! )
Thank you everyone for your kind words, especially sathere and girlwithacurl, it's lovely when people come and give their support. sathere how are you doing these days?
I think my DH was/is more scared about my life being in danger if EP ruptures. I don't think he's thinking of a lost baby at the moment, though tbh neither am I. This has been a really crap year for us in the ttc stakes, the failed IVF and now this and my little sister (who's also ttc#1) has had two m/cs too. Here's hoping 2009 is our year, though I do remember saying that about 2008!

Forgot to say gilly thank you for the offer of the book, if that's ok I'd like to borrow it, I'll email you

OP posts:
nomoremagnolia · 17/11/2008 19:02

Blood hcg levels have dropped so I'm waiting for a natural m/c in the next few days.
Hospital are happy to hand me over to my GP for monitoring. Guess it's the best news in the circumstances but I'm feeling more emotionally battered now the immediate worry/anxiety/fear is gone.

Jess - OMG, many congratulations on DS..Sorry it was a very difficult birth, but I bet that was all forgiven when you got him home. Enjoy and wishing you both great health and happiness together. Xxx

SatHereSitting - hello Iwish... how are you?

Nomore - Sending you lots of love & best wishes... ((HUGS))

I bought lots of wrapping paper and cards and a few gifts like notecards and picture frames from Paperchase, and also some kiddies' presents for my cousin's children who I always love buying for. Apparently Ben 10 is the thing at the moment!

A few years ago I used to make presents but I've rather given up since having a full time job. I do miss it though. I did stained glass and glass painting and painted picture frames etc but I think I decided my family had probably had enough things along those lines after a while! At the moment I want a sewing machine but they're at least £50 so I can't really justify it to DH. I thought it would be a really cool and energy-saving thing to make everyone door snakes but not sure how many I'll have time to hand-sew. Very impressed with your knitted presents Gilly! I think I've mentioned before, it took me 9 months to make 1 scarf, so that's out of the question for me

nomoremagnolia · 19/11/2008 16:58

Thanks for your lovely email gilly you girls are all stars

How are you doing today Nomore? Hope things are progressing naturally and your levels are dropping etc. Am also hoping and praying that you get pregnant again really quickly, although I'm very sorry if that's the wrong thing to say at this time.

Gilly - I love the red £49 one from John Lewis! I'm a bit wary of second hand because I know they can go wrong and need expensive servicing or just not work properly even after a service, which happened to my Mum's old one that I used to use. I'm hoping DH might be persuadable after next payday . Is a felted bag a knitted bag that has been shrunk? I think I've seen them around but I couldn't work out how you made them. I quite like the idea of doing scarves with some of that really really thick wool because I think it looks nice and also reduces the number of stitches! I don't know how many balls you would need though. If it's more than 1 it's probably not very economical.

gilly your book arrived yesterday ,thank you for lending it to me

RahRah1 · 25/11/2008 15:48

Hi All...

How is everyone?

Nomore - I have that book too... I read it after Bertie as I always think there is a reason for everything. I found the book tilted more towards early M/C, as obviously it is more common. So when I had an early M/C as well I really understood it more and realised that there is a high chance there was a reason for that M/C. I actually found the book quite interesting and very factual... I did however convince myself she was the best expert in Britain and I had to see her. I phoned her secretary for an app and it was over 6 months waiting list to go private and for an appointment and tests that I would need she quoted around £1500. I was told by my normal consultant that he would only recommend such drastic action if I had experienced multiple losses and felt I wanted a second opinion. I was told to calm down! I suppose he was right but at the time it did not feel like it!
Hope you are keeping ok, been thinking of you...

Gilly - OHHHH hand made gifts... your soooooo talented! I tried one year but very miserably! I brought loads of books on making my own cards, stamps, paints, card etc... and they look like C*ap! LOL... so no talent here!

Hello to everyone else.... sending everyone lots of love
Rah Xxx

nomoremagnolia · 26/11/2008 08:27

Hello Rah How are you? I have only flicked through the book so far but it looks really interesing. My Dsis has had two early m/c too (mmc at 12wk scan and natural m/c at 7ish wks) so I'm interested to find out if there's any link between my infertility and her m/cing (and now the EP too). My period seems to have started yesterday - very odd as I was told it would be late, not early, it's only 10 days since EP was diagnosed. I have no idea what my body thinks it's doing. AF's heavy and painful though, so I think it's real. Also did pg test to be sure EP has all gone and it was neg, which was a relief.
How's your little bean doing, hope all's well?

Hi All

nomoremagnolia - My sister has never been pregnant as she is 6 yrs younger than me and is not that interested in kids at the moment. So it will be interesting to see how she gets on TTC. I was watching LK today and there was a lady on there that had 18 MC's. She had all the normal MC referrals and tests from her hospital and it showed nothing. It was only after she dropped down to 6 stone that her GP ordered some tests and it turned out she had no B12 or folic acid. They upped her dose and she just had a baby. Amazing! Plus she had all the MC at 7 weeks, which is when the spine forms and obviously in her case it wasn't due to the deficiency and the MC clinic never linked any of it together. They said she was just unlucky! UMMMMM That's why I always say there must be a reason. But the number of specialists that I have seen that have quoted 'the science just isn't there' is remarkable.. Basically their best philosophy is to try and try again. Easier said then done when you have trouble conceiving in the first place!

Are you sure its your period and not bleed from the Ep? My bleed from my MC was very heavy and extremely painful. More so than my normal period. Maybe its just taken a bit later for the uterus to shed its lining as well. Well at least with a bleed you know your body is sorting itself out. (but i suppose a good thing under the circumstances)

I'm OK thanks. Had a scan on Monday and measured 9 weeks and one day. From my MC I could be 9 weeks and four days so I am catching up on my dates from the scan before when they said I was a week and half off those dates. I finally got tracked down by the MW to do my notes, I was apprehensive about going but she said that I had to see her to get booked on for appointments etc... Then I got a phone call today to say my screening blood tests had gone stale and I need to retest.. GREAT! She took loads of blood.... We have our next consultants appointment on the 12th/Dec and then on the 18th I am going for a private Nuchal scan. Its a nervous time at the moment as its when I started all the big bleeds with Bertie.. so I am a bit anxious at the moment. (unlike any other time!LOL) Thanks for asking about me

Hello to everyone else (WAVES)

Great news about IVF Gilly . If I remember correctly you thought it might be a much longer waiting list didn't you?
